[Q] HTC ONE M7 Phone loses volume once answering phone calls - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a HTC One M7 with the Venom rom installed and it seems to be causing an issue with my phone calls. Whenever i try to answer a phone call i cannot hear anything on the other end. I can fix this by rebooting my phone but i would rather not do that for every phone call. Any suggestions on what i can do?

There were a lot of users experiencing this very problem recently. And the cause seemed to be something to do with the latest round of Google app updates.
Many successfully fixed this problem by clearing app caches for Google Play Services and Google Services Framework.
Go to Settings> Apps then move to the All tab. Find Google Play Services and Google Services Framework and clear cache and data for these two apps then reboot. :fingers-crossed:

[Q] Any workaround for Google play services battery bug?

Hey guys,
Is there any known effective workaround for the battery drain issue on 4.4 with google play services?

Cleared cache and so far seems to be working with v5.0! Thank you!
This is actually something I was trying to find a work around today.
Mind linking me the Play Services 5.0 you're using? I'd really like to try this.

Thanks for that. Gave it a go, got a result similar to the thread maker's. Was a dream come true, really.
Then it came back again. Didn't do anything different, just eventually came back into play on next reboot.
Uninstalled updates from Play Services entirely and rebooted, got the same effect. I don't think it's 5.0 fixing it, just the other play(s) causing it. Still running as 'uninstall updates' version (whatever it is-- lemme check... 4.0.33) and I've not had an issue with it coming back on. If it doesn't last then I have no clue how to fix this.
Sorry to be a pest and bump / double post.
But I havn't had it come back since I did an 'Uninstall Updates' from Settings > Apps > All
I don't know why this would be so darned weird... But for anyone who hasn't tried it... I guess, sadly try it - and the link that Androidtweaker gave.
When I installed the Play Store that Androidtweaker linked, I did nothing but play games for like 2 hours on my phone - No issues. Kept playing, 4 hours later popped back up. I play Puzzles & Dragon's and link it to my Google+, so I thought they might have triggered all the play services since it is Google Games.
However I uninstalled updates and now it's the 1st of July where I am (3 days later), with Uninstall Updates and playing P&D with G+, I don't have any Play Service Issues.
Sorry I couldn't be of help to anyone who comes to this thread via google searching. Perhaps installing the latest Play Store then deleting cache/dalvik helped cut out some issue hidden within somewhere?...
In settings/location, set to device only. Its google location reporting causing the issue. Setting it to device only utilises just GPS for location.

[Q] Push Notifications not working well?

Hey guys, so I just got the S5 a couple of days ago and I love it. However, I'm having some problems with the push notifications of certain apps not coming through, yet they do easily on my Nexus 7. They weren't a problem on my Nexus 5, but I have no idea why it's not working properly on a brand new phone like the S5. Each of the apps, like Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat to name a few, are all listed to push notifications and they're set in the main Android settings, so I have no idea. Anyone else have the same kind of issues like me?
To note, I've already factory resetted my phone several times, cleaned out the data, caches, etc and still no use. I am rooted though, but I doubt that should make a huge difference, right? And right now, I'm not using Xposed framework, but before when I first noticed the issues, I was. Thanks in advance!
Taking a longshot here...but have you updated that Samsung Push Service app through the Play Store (and all other apps for that matter)?

if you used Titatium backup to restore any apps that use push, that could be your issue. I restored facebook, instagram , snapchat etc and the push never works when i restore, you need to clear the app out, and just login new for each push app.

Yeah, I did that initially, but that was the first time I got the phone. Now, I've been clearing out the caches and data for each app, uninstalling it and reinstalling it from the Play Store, but still some of the apps don't have the push capability unless I was just in the app or still in it. Some of my problem apps are GroupMe, Snapchat and Instagram. When I had my Nexus 5, that wasn't the issue at all.
Is there anything else I can do to fix this issue?

Check out TB Restore Fixer on the app store. I noticed that when I did Titanium Backup restore, some of my apps were not working correctly and I couldn't reach certain parts of my storage, etc. After I ran it, it seemed to have straightened everything out. (Requires root, of course)
Hope this fixes your problems!
Same problem
I first started having this issue a week ago. I checked all the setting, factory reset, and I ended up switching out the Galaxy 5 through Sprint yesterday. E-mails and FB messenger app was working on data while I was driving home and I thought the problem was fixed. I reinstalled all the apps I was using and over night let the phone charge. When I woke up this morning I noticed two of the folders I made were removed and a widget for S Health replaced the folders spot. Thinking nothing of it I removed the widget and made it to work this morning to find out I had 3 e-mails waiting, a notification on facebook, and another message through FB messenger that did not come through this morning. I am receieving notifications if im on wifi but not through the data now and this is a new phone. I think this may have something to the 4.4.4 release but this is bugging me. Any new suggestions?
I have seen issues with sprint where phone calls are fine but data wont work in certain areas of the city unless you turn data roaming on it apears that the signals are ok for voice but not for data in thoes areas
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
Data roaming is checked on, I did go in today and saw a roaming guard on data and turned it off but nothing yet. It's been two months and my push notifications are still not working. Figure I'd come here and bump again.
Im having same issue looks like no one has a solution for this... I get all my notifications while im on wifi but soon as im on data i stop getting some notifications. Very frustrating.

Hi!
I have been facing a new problem since this morning on my HTC One M7 running ARHD. When I am attempting to make a regular phone call I am not getting any dialer tone, the receiver answers my call but there is no sound being sent from my phone to him nor I can get any sound from the person I am calling. I tried making varioud VOIP calls thorugh Viber, Google hangouts etc. they seem to be working perfectly. What could be the problem!?
PS: This is urgent, as I need to get my one and only phone working to make phone calls!

Excellent advice srideep!
Yesterday I started experiencing the exact same problem as yashodhan92: No audio in either direction of the call. In the past a simple reboot has solved the problem but this time it didn't work. And just like the OP, VoIP services worked normally. I was hesitant to perform a Clear all data but felt I had nothing to lose after a day and a half without the ability to make or receive calls with the native phone app. I performed the clear data and rebooted. Phone is back! Thanks a ton!
FYI, I have an HTC One M7 running MaxHD 42.0.0 (Android 4.4.3/Sense 6.0)
Problem solved !
Had the same problem , and the solution provided works like charm . Wondering what would be the cause .

Anybody got any more to offer on this??
The above fix gives me one or two calls then the problem is back. Htc support say to clear the data within the phone app. Also gives one or two calls relief then fail again.
Likewise factory reset, reported on telstra crowdsupport that this is only a temporary fix.
Htc support say they have had many hundreds of calls since Saturday, all htc one M7, all android 4.4.3, all Telstra AU customers.
Can anybody help?

To clear the data for the phone app (or any other except Google Play Services)...
Tap Settings
Tap Apps
Scroll right to the All tab
Scroll down until you find the app you want, or tap the magnifying glass and enter the name (e.g. "Phone")
Tap on the App name
Tap Clear Data
Done.
For Google Play Services, after tapping on the App name, tap the Manage Space button, then Clear All Data button.
Folks have recommended clearing data for Phone, Google Play Services, Google Play Store, Google Services Framework. These are all harmless (you might be re-asked for some permissions). But my testing shows that it is a temporary fix, likely because the Google apps reload the offending bug. I suspect we'll have to wait for a fix from HTC or Google.
Clearing Cache or data is often a good way to sort Android app problems, but bear in mind that any local data relating to the app will be lost, such as accounts/logons, media, high scores etc. so progress with caution and use your backups first.
Tactical fix:
Disable Google Services Framework.
Reboot
This will cause issues with Google Play Services (and possibly other applications), however it at least allows the phone to make/take calls.

Hello! Thanks for the reply.
I erased all sorts of data from Google Play Services but that did not work, and I was still unable to make any calls. Then i checked the recently updated apps and noticed that HTC Lock Screen had been updated. I removed the update and Voila! It worked! Still wondering what could have gone wrong because of a Lock Screen update!
I've tried everything in this thread. Nothing works.

Have you tried uninstalling the HTC Lock Screen updates then after doing that for good measure erase all data from Google Services as mentioned above and re-boot.

Yashodhan, You might just be the genius of the week. :highfive:
I have uninstalled the HTC Lockscreen updates, and call sounds are back.
I did not have to clear any data from Google Services or take any other action to achieve it.
I then connected to the Play Store, and triggered My App updates, which previously was enough to re-break the call sound. So far, no problem. Call sound is still working.
We may have a winner (at least until the next HTC Firmware update, which might put the Lock Screen update back in, so remember this fix).
For less experience folks: detailed instructions are:
Tap Settings icon
Scroll down, Tap Apps
Scroll right to the All tab
Tap the magnifying glass button
Type "Lock" [no quotes]
Tap HTC Lock Screen
Tap Uninstall Updates
Agree to the reboot.
Done.
I will report back if the fix fails.
Where do you have uninstall?
when I go to HTC Lock screen i see:
Force stop, disable, clear data, clear cache, clear defaults
thanks
Hey all
I've been having the same issue on and off for a few weeks now.
I used to be able to fix it by just restarting, but as of today that wasn't working.
Clearing the data of Google Play Services and Google Services Framework have resolved it for me for now - but I suspect it will reoccur.
Like the post above, I don't have the option to uninstall HTC Lock Screen updates...
For reference, I'm running Viper One 7.0.1, and have tried 3 different Kernels (Elemental, Kangaroo and Stock).
Thanks
Paul
I will try to install Viper without sense...but hate that I will be not able to use Blink Feed
Seems I didn't have the HTC Lockscreen update installed - which is why I didn't have the uninstall option.
I've installed, the update, had the issue, uninstalled the update, and still have the issue.
The only way I'm getting the calls to work is by clearing the data from Google Play Services and Google Services Framework - even then, I'm only able to make 1 call (testing out by calling Voicemail), and then it will stop working again.
I've also installed an app freezer, and frozen the HTC Lockscreen - but this hasn't worked either.

Your issues with Play store, reminds me of 2 x similar incidents, i had with my old Note devices.
Think it was Note 3 and my Note 4. Not sure.
Unfortunately It was a few years back!
eg.
When i tried to download, an apps update etc and
app size was eg 2mb or 5 mb.. etc I struggled to download.Very frustrating!
Eventually after a week or 2, maybe 3.
i was able to pinpoint
the the "suspect"
(Unfortunately i cannot remember clearly ,
but it was either, that i had sideloaded
wrong updated version of Play services apk
(Cleaning Play services cache did not help.)
or it was an Xposed /Xposed model.
(So phone was also rooted)
Anyway ,
i then decided to factory reset and Playstore
was working fine again.
Bottom line is
you can either look for the "suspect"?
causing this.
( I know there was a few threads about similar issues with Playstore, on XDA... way back then ! )
or save yourself from the frustration it's causing?
and try a "clean" Factory reset.!
Good luck
Have you tried cleaing the cache data in the internal storage? That usually helps with this sorta issue.
Tried that not working in either what you said

Is it on wifi or data?
Reset router modem.
Do other apps lag like YouTube or Netflix.
Download speed bad in your area.
Uninstall GP updates and try to reinstall them or apk from web.
Is updating apps through wifi only ?
Clear out all pending updates and restart device.
Do you have another device or friends to see if it's the same problem on theirs too for your region.
Try a different proxy.
Just throwing some ideas around!!
Go into your Google settings and see if you have it to update using wifi only I personally always turn auto updates off.. I had this problem with my Note 8 when I 1st got it. How I fixed it was I went into settings and went to apps and cleared the cache and data on Google play services and playstore and foreclosed them and then went to accounts and removed my Google account and restarted my phone.. when my phone rebooted I went to the playstore and had to login fresh again and that fixed the problem.
I fixed it by factory resetting phone. Thankfully I backed it all up

Play Store downloads/updates stuck at 99%

I'm using a Note9 that's only a month old. The last 2 days, any app updates or new apps I'm trying to download get stuck at 99% (sometimes 100%). Things I've tried so far:
* Resetting the Play Store to default and deleting data/cache
* Wiping the cache of the whole phone
* Disabling the Google app (per suggestions I found elsewhere)
* Uninstalling Nova Launcher (per suggestions)
* Wiping the cache/data of the Download Manager
It's driving me up the wall. No idea what to try. Any advice?
This is the same issues I've been having, especially since updating to Android Pie. Only small fix I found was just closing all apps and run Device Care on a download, then it worked. I don't know if this is an actual fix though.

I am not.
I've ran into this problem but only when having a unstable Wi-Fi connection. Specifically a bad power supply on the router.
And a lot of business wifi like in hospitals and stuff they have blocking software to keep the employees from watching movies and game of thrones and things like!

Only Google.
I'm experiencing this problem as well (Samsung Galaxy Note 10+). This started happening 2 days ago.
Also, another strange thing is happening: The Blue light filter, and Digital Wellbeing grayscale filter, are not starting/stopping at the correct times, they are delayed (sometimes by hours).
The worst part is, my previous phone (Galaxy Note 8) had the exact same issue(s). I endured it for a long time. I was excited to ditch the Note 8 for a phone that worked... Oh well
I generated a debug log, and I'm combing through it now. I don't understand everything I'm looking at.
Here are some attempted fixes, that did _not_ fix the issue on the Note 8:
* Clearing the Google Play store and services caches.
* Removing my Google account, then signing back in.
* Factory reset, then reinstalling everything from scratch. (The issue started happening again, within 1 day.)

Thank you very much!
I double-checked that apps were unable to update (Netflix was stuck at "77%"). I disabled the Google app, and restarted the phone. I left Google disabled.
... Netflix took longer to update (it stalled at "77%" again), but it did finish successfully. Now the other apps are downloading and installing! Nice. Hopefully this is a permanent (or at least reproducible) solution to the issue.
Do you know *why* the Google app would be interfering with app updates? I'm genuinely curious.

Yes i disabled it, but that must be related to another issue. my girlfriend has the same s8 and no issues. Must be related to multiple google accounts or something that differs from my phone to hers.
Perhaps fully off-topic or just the solution, did you disable or remove Chrome? I know my Note 9 shows similar behaviour when I debloat and remove Chrome. Once I updated the WebView app all runs fine. So I always update WebView before anything else. But then again I only notice this behaviour once I remove or disable Chrome browser.
