I could only find three references to boot loop in the Moto G troubleshooting area...so here I type.
phone is XT1064
Was trying to side load Lollipop. Got to the boot menu no problem...when I selected Recovery the phone rebooted and got stuck on the Moto logo screen "powered by android."
I'm able via external reset get back to the boot menu, but whatever option I choose I end up looping...
Just spent a couple of hours with Moto tech support...painful, avoid if possible. The script pages were turning so fast I thought there were wind gusts in the tech office!
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

did you have your xt1064 rooted? i have mine rooted in lollipop, i also have the boot loop when starting sometimes, so far you can uninstall root via super user app and solve the problem or have patience untill some good developer fix this problem, to get out of the boot loop i find that connecting to charger the phone does the trick for me, it take like 3 minutes to start, if i uninstall root it starts very fast, im waiting for a solution.

Just got my XT1095 last week and unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone (still on 4.4.4). Was playing around with the boot animations last night and all of a sudden my phone froze at one frame of the animation. The weird thing is my phone still works, I can feel the haptic feedback when I press buttons and Moto Voice works too, but I just can't see anything on the screen except the frozen boot animation. After restarting the phone several times, the same thing happens.
Tried to push some stuff to phone and realized i might not have re enabled usb debug after unlocking bootloader..
Friend suggested updating to 5.0 and see if that resets boot, but I can't even fully load Moto Device Manager it says "Update is Already in Progress" and closes.
Any ideas how to reset everything or restore stock boot animation?
So today I set about unlocking the bootloader and rooting my Moto X 2014 Pure Edition XT1095.
Unlocking the bootloader went just fine. Then I went to root it. I booted the pure2014sb.img but it didn't work. The phone would just hang on the Motorola logo. Then I read somebody later said that doesn't work on lollipop, so I booted the CF-Auto-Root-victara-victaratmo-xt1095.img instead. That showed me the rooting status page thing before it rebooted, and then rebooted again, but when it fired up after that it was still hanging on the Motorola logo.
Then I attempted this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=56928477#post56928477
Now the phone will not even hang on the logo, it gets to the animated moto logo part and then turns off half way through. I cannot get back into fastboot state either. It just doesn't respond to power + vol down at all.
EDIT: Actually scratch the not being able to get into fastboot state thing. I just had to hold the buttons down for way longer than normal. I just kept holding them until it showed something. It ended up being like 15 seconds instead of 3-4 like usual.
Help!

Same happened to me early this morning when I was trying to install 5.0.2
You have to flash any firmware you want just avoid to flash the modem and there ate several post here in the general section
Just remember. Don't flash the modem unless is the same firmware you have or else you will lose signal.
Regards
Thanks for the input. I used the instructions in this thread to get my phone back to working condition:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/guide-update-xt1095-pure-edition-to-t2937074
I was unable to get it to pick up the 4.4.4 to 5.0 update zip in recovery mode, so I just used the regular OTA update to do it. After that I booted the CF-Auto-Root-victara-victaratmo-xt1095.img and it worked!

Great! Glad it helps
Enjoy the lollipop Sweet my friend.
hey guys and gals, hope yall can help me out a bit. im kinda at my wits end. my girls phone (box stock) decided to reboot a few times today at random then stuck itself at lg logo with a blue and green blinking led. (ive recovered a few of my older moto droids) i have read on here quite a bit but am only finding info on rooted devices. i have tried to boot into stock recovery with no luck. i can however get into the firmware update. i have the software tool, vzw drivers, and a copy of the 27a_05.zdk. i read that to clear device you have to use the cme flash method, during the "write to device" icon the device acts like it rejects and sticks a 4% (was stuck there around 1.5 hrs). any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
I would like to ask some few solutions from expert people here. My phone was stuck in Boot loop for no apparent reason and cause. So, here's the chronology: I was playing Vainglory and it was still drafting heroes in ranked match. During that time, the phone just got freeze and unresponsive for several seconds. Then, it restarts and there we go. It starts boot loop cycle. I don't know what causes it.
How do I solve this? I need help, please. The Phone is Unlocked Bootloader and it is in root condition. As for the version, it was using 4.88B. I would require step by step detail in solving this boot loop before i decided to go to service center and have it fixed which is possible to remove Unlocked bootloader and root which I do not want that to happen.
Thank you so much in advance.
PS: After shutting it off for 30 min, I tried turning it back on. It does bring me to the home screen but then few seconds, it reboots again and causes boot loop. Nevertheless the case, once Powered by android logo came, I won't be able to bypass that.
Try to hold Volume up and Power while launching the phone - it will bring you into the recovery mode of android. From there you should wipe your phone data - sorry there's no viable solution for you, if it's a software bootloop then it should help you bring the phone to factory state and get rid of issues.

Sir, It doesn't show the recovery mode. It is like no recovery exist. It just shows Powered by android logo and then keeps restarting.
did you solve your issue? trying to reboot?
How did it happen?
and How did it solved? Did your phone start then?
I think from TWRP you choose to boot different slot.
So I think you have different Kernel-boot to another system-version
Hello. I am having an issue with my Moto e4 Plus. I have searched and searched for a solution, but I cannot seem to find one that doesn't seem to be outdated.
I downloaded and installed the latest update sometime in April. It immediately bricked my phone. When I boot it up, it goes through the startup animation and then freezes. Sometimes it freezes during the startup animation. I can access fastboot and recovery mode. I CANNOT access any settings to put the phone in developer mode. Anything I have tried is always stopped by the phone still being in "oem_locked" mode. Honestly, I did not have anything on the phone that I am afraid to lose, so I am just wanting to do a fresh install of Android Nouget. I have tried the factory reset option and the wipe cache option in recovery mode and neither of those work. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get my phone functioning again?
TIA!
