Your notifications are set to do not disturb or off. Press your volume button to see these options
That means you dont have any phone network
Sent from my SGH-M919 using XDA Free mobile app
I double the 'absolutely zero signal', that is what the symbol means.
I can confirm that the symbol means do not disturb. Check your volume settings if you want to change it back.
Source: Have Nexus 10 with 5.0
It means so you notifications are set to "none"
That means the radio is off, you are using wifi and have no signal through the carrier.

Right, and it's on. An empty triangle would mean no service etc. etc. Google used to have a document that listed all the (stock) icons. Perhaps they still do.
Priority notifications have:
no icon - all
star - priority
slashed circle - none (including alarms).
By the way this is a Nexus 6 area.
If he has a Wifi model then she shouldn't have the no signal icon to begin with. To me, this icon means its not a WIFI model and there is no sim card inserted or valid

Oh i was responding to the OP with the question about the circle with the line across.
MYSTERY SOLVED! i notice that even on the Nexus6, if you press the volume down button from the homescreen once, then press the word "NONE", it will create this circle with the line through it on the notification bar to remind you that you dont want to receive any notifications or alarms.
The answer was posted multiple times and a link to a demonstration video was provided. Did you post a question and then simply not read any of the answers?

Have you tried the Back key?
Assuming you're anywhere you can pull the notification bar down, just do that and select the call.

There is a way to disable it. See this post!
Is anyone able to disable the "Data traffic is disabled" notification when switching of mobile data?
On my previous Xperia Arc I could modify custom_settings.xml in "/system/etc/customization/settings/com/android/phone/" to disable it. However, on the Xperia Z this directory does not exist. Creating it, setting the permissions (644) and setting up the file as below does not help. Maybe the version is not right or some line are missing for the Xperia Z...
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<settings version="1">
<setting key="data-connection-except-mms-can-clear-icon" runtime="false">true</setting>
<setting key="data-connection-except-mms-show-icon-when-enabled" runtime="false">false</setting>

Have you tried a different toggle app? I remember installing a smart toggle app on my Ion and the warning disappeared.
Re: Disable "Data traffic is disabled" notification
Often Sony use a standalone apk to provide this kind of functionality.
I've not looked but it would be in /system/app and usually sensibly named

I want to use Tasker with secure settings for that. When connected to WiFi want it to turn off data to preserve energy. A toggle is not reliable because then I have to keep an eye if it is connected or not. Defeats the purpose.

You don't get it. The switching works of course. I don't want the warning showing up every time I disable data (when connected to WiFi).

True. But on my other Xperia's I could disable it all together. When I hop from WiFi to WiFi hotspot I am connected to data in between. Also when WiFi signal is low and often drops you get this message like 20x. It is annoying and has no use.

Usually, Sony uses a separate apk for each such notification and you can just delete it or disable it...
For example the Xperia T has a thing that turns off the phone after 15 minutes if there's no sim inserted is just a separate APK

Maybe Sony uses an apk to show it. Still I have never heard how to disable it that way on the Arc. I could also imagine that you would get problems on other levels when actually deleting stuff. Changing or adding a line is better. On alle my Xperia's (last was the Arc) it was possible to disable it like I showed on post 1. No apk involved. It would be very strange that this would not work for the XZ in a similar fasion. So that's why I asked. But apparently no one knows (yet).
I found a way to disable the Data traffic icon. I've used Elixir 2 from the Google play to do this.
1) Open Elixir
2) Click on "applications" button
3) Click on the options button that is in the left of the button that is like the play button and click "sistem applications"
4) Search "phone" app and click on it, "show details"
5) Desactivate "DataTrafficExceptMmsNotifier", you can find it in "Services"
6) Now reboot.
You must be root!!!
I think all works fine after this.
Sorry for my very bad english.

None... I tried booting my phone to safe mode and it's still there. Also, did a factory reset and still there. It means one of the pre-installed apps must have been causing it...
That just means the shortcut panel is hidden/locked. You see when you slide down the notification panel the key sign vanishes

The shortcut to WiFi, Bluetooth, screen brightness. I'm not that good in vocabulary, but lets just say that the key ? means part of the notification panel or whatever panel it's called, is hidden. After you slide down the panel, it vanishes.

Correlation, not causation. The 4G/WIFI signal strength icon disappears too, it's just to make way for the settings cog and the rest.
OP, I can't get a screenshot with status bar pulled down (wtf, why does it retract when I long-press the power button), but I assume under your quick settings it also shows the same key with the text "Network may be monitored"?

Hi everyone. Can anybody post a screenshot of your homescreen with received emails / messages icons showing in the top left corner of the Mate 20 Pro screen (notifications area) please? I'm sick and tired to hear explanations like "hm, weird. might something wrong with your firmware", hm, I've got everything". Something is telling me that this problem is notch related and Huawei simply don't know how to fix it. Thanks in advance.

No notification icons (emails, messages...) in the top left corner. All I have got is operator name and signal strength (GSM + WiFi) signs. That's it. As a result, I'm missing important messages and emails, not reading them in time. Never experienced anything like this on Pixel, Galaxies, LG, HTC and Sony phones. Also my previous phone - Mate 10 - didn't have this problem too. Can't find the way to fix it on Mate 20 Pro.
Maybe you have disabled them by mistake, you can always go to app setting and enable notifications for each app you want.
It's a horrible notch on this phone.
I'd much rather that if the option to turn "off" the notch is selected, that the whole top line would be moved down so that icons show in an entire row the line below, instead of the very top notched line, but such is life!
For you, is this a space issue do you think?
I've changed the option to show a notification number instead of individual icons. At least with this method, you'll know something is there?
.
You have the place for only 4 icons at the right and at the left of the notch. So that depends if you have Bluetooth on, network monitor on etc... Etc.. For each apps you have maybe in notification bar you should disable apps that you don't want to be in notif bar. For exemple I use Tasker but don't need it in notification bar, so I removed is icon in notification menu.
Like you I don't see my email or text msg notification icon but is because I've Bluetooth on, alarm on, vibrate On and data monitoring on so... Alarm icon don't appear coz I've also signal strength.
Signal strength + Bluetooth icon + network monitor + vibrate mode = 4 icons nothing more. If I switch from vibrate mod to ring mod i' ve again one free slot for another icon etc... Etc..

Yes, this is a space issue and a Huawei issues at the same time. I set "show numbers" options but still no luck. Maybe my current operator name is too long to have anything else beside.

Ahh, this only affects the home screen and not the lockscreen. Never mind
There is room for 5 icons and not 4. The last three ones are replaced by new icon.
I think you've changed something in settings that's why you're not getting notifications.
If you look at second screen shot, you can see that sms icon in the first photo is replaced with keyboard icon and on the third it's back again.

Okay, I see. Seriously, I haven't touch any settings, all in defaults state. Just tried to disable providers name and finally notification popped up! Anyway, notch is the culprit of my issue. I takes heaps of space so with provider name displayed by default there is no space for anything else. Can't justify such a huge notch and having below the average sound from the speakers. My old small Pixel 3 sounds a way clearer and louder even not at high volume. Don't really care about secure and fancy 3D face recognition at all.

Then you bought the wrong handset. The notch is there for a reason. I love the 3d face recognition, so I live with the notch. I bought the right phone.
You can also use adb to permanently disable some of the system icons like Bluetooth, alarm clock, nfc, etc.. This really helped clean things up and made more room up top for notification icons.
One option I wish they had was the ability to move signal and WiFi from left to right.
