Key sign on the notification panel - Xperia Z4/Z3+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, could anyone tell me why there is a key sign on the notification panel, beside the battery icon? Some say it's because of VPN. I don't have any idea abt it. On the VPN setting, "none" is selected. Anyone who can assist me on this????

It is because of a VPN. Any chance you're using Adguard?

None... I tried booting my phone to safe mode and it's still there. Also, did a factory reset and still there. It means one of the pre-installed apps must have been causing it...

That just means the shortcut panel is hidden/locked. You see when you slide down the notification panel the key sign vanishes

The shortcut to WiFi, Bluetooth, screen brightness. I'm not that good in vocabulary, but lets just say that the key ? means part of the notification panel or whatever panel it's called, is hidden. After you slide down the panel, it vanishes.

Correlation, not causation. The 4G/WIFI signal strength icon disappears too, it's just to make way for the settings cog and the rest.
OP, I can't get a screenshot with status bar pulled down (wtf, why does it retract when I long-press the power button), but I assume under your quick settings it also shows the same key with the text "Network may be monitored"?

Hehe... I was just wondering what that is cos I never have that when I was still using Z1. Again even after doing a factory reset, without installing anything, it's already there. Just kind of curious what that is. Only mwans one of the preinstalled apps is causing it.?

not preinstalled apps. its the system management settings. they are just doing that to keep tidy, and also to show you that "there are more things to see and edit" if you scroll down

How to return to ongoing call screen?

Does anyone know how to return to the ongoing call screen after leaving it? Let's say you look up a contact during a call. How do you go return so you can get the cheekguard and dialpad back? TIA
Have you tried the Back key?
Assuming you're anywhere you can pull the notification bar down, just do that and select the call.

[Q] Status/Notification bar auto hide

Hi everyone,
Sorry, me again. Sound fixed Applied the wifi utility mentioned in a thread on here and low and behold, the sound stays. Bizarre.
Also fixed my webOS issues, thanks for the tips.
One more little thing.
I am running the 10.1-20131210-snapshot-vpn-tenderloin ROM
Now, I always (I am sure) on previous builds used to have the status/notification bar (with the time, wifi signal and notifications) visibile at the top when on the home screen.
It currently hides when the home screen is shown and appears when an app opens.
I have made various changes under "System>Status Bar", "System>Quick Settings Panel" and "System>Notification Drawer" but nothing seems to have an effect on this
Can anyone help?
I like to be able to swipe the quick settings and notifications from the home screen but currently cannot
Cheers
Andy

Your notifications are set to do not disturb or off. Press your volume button to see these options
That means you dont have any phone network
Sent from my SGH-M919 using XDA Free mobile app
I double the 'absolutely zero signal', that is what the symbol means.
I can confirm that the symbol means do not disturb. Check your volume settings if you want to change it back.
Source: Have Nexus 10 with 5.0
It means so you notifications are set to "none"
That means the radio is off, you are using wifi and have no signal through the carrier.
I've got a star symbol in my notification bar. What does that mean?

Right, and it's on. An empty triangle would mean no service etc. etc. Google used to have a document that listed all the (stock) icons. Perhaps they still do.
Priority notifications have:
no icon - all
star - priority
slashed circle - none (including alarms).
By the way this is a Nexus 6 area.
If he has a Wifi model then she shouldn't have the no signal icon to begin with. To me, this icon means its not a WIFI model and there is no sim card inserted or valid

I'm not sure what you mean here but the linked YouTube video shows all three states and the two icons. Perhaps you didn't notice that this device is running Android L?

Oh i was responding to the OP with the question about the circle with the line across.
MYSTERY SOLVED! i notice that even on the Nexus6, if you press the volume down button from the homescreen once, then press the word "NONE", it will create this circle with the line through it on the notification bar to remind you that you dont want to receive any notifications or alarms.
The answer was posted multiple times and a link to a demonstration video was provided. Did you post a question and then simply not read any of the answers?

Loving this app together with Power Toggles and Simple Control.
This is a great app.
Love this app, one thing annoys me though. I have to swipe down to get out of the notification lock screen after I unlock from fingerprint scanner. Been tinkering and havent found the option to get around that.

Is this when you are unlocking the phone (via FP) while the notification is active? If yes, then you are right it is a minor quibble sort of doing double unlocking.
The idea of this app is to allow you to glance at notification without unlocking the phone.

Module to enhance the Recents Panel?

I personally really liked MIUI10's recents panel, and not a big fan of LOS's.
I'd like to have a "clear all" button that I can easily access (though, not at the top), and I feel like besides "lock" and "close" it might be useful to have () to get to app's info page (e.g. to clear cache) and a button to go to its AppOps or privacy guard.
Maybe someone knows of something similar already out there?

go to google play and download Recently by Chainfire. this will give you the close all button back. it will also shut down apps that have been running X amount of hours and you can limit it to only have X amount of apps displayed in recents.

That sounds interesting! I'm using Gravitybox for the clear all, but it places it at the top of the screen. Do you know if this moves it?
