Please reference the OP linked above. There can't be root without google positing the image for devs to work on. Please search before you post. All Nexus 6 devices are the same in the US so there's not model specific "root" unless the devs find otherwise which isn't likely.

you can always root any nexus device, google allows it.
1. enable open oem unlock in dev options(settings)
2. open oem unlock via fastboot in the bootloader
3. flash a custom recovery via fastboot.
4. flash the supersu.zip in that custom recovery
5. reboot, and you have root

This will work for n4 too? Gonna give a try now
Confirmed! It works flawlessly!!
Works like a charm! I additionally updated the SuperSU from play store before, unlocking the boot loader using the app!:good:
I prefer this topic for rooting your device without wiping data.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2025274
The reason why I prefer this topic is because you only need to connect your device to the computer and running the .bat script. So you don't need to install apps etc.

yes, but that method is for if you have already bootloader unlocked this method does NOT need that procedure, this gives you bare bone root NO unlock BOOTLOADER NEEDED.. sorry for caps but want to point the difference on that thread with this one
Okay,
If this is the wrong place please move it, but the script in the thread mentioned by you is wiping the data.
And as I see it, that the rootscript was repacked, i will make an easy super one click and unlock solution, but let the links stay here
I had to modify the bat file to make it work but it did work. Thanks

How do I root an HTC One GE on a Mac? I'd like to do so before I set up the phone tomorrow. Done some googling and couldn't find an answer. Did my N4. Is it the same files/procedure?
Sorry for the duplicate post, but I realized I had entered the title in correctly.

you just said you did your N4.
procedure is exactly the same
or after you do fastboot oem unlock from the bootloader screen you can follow my tutorial for recovery and root.

Just make sure you get the HTC One recovery and not the N4.. based on your lack of knowledge, based on your multiple questions, I would hold off a bit though.. as far as I know there isn't a confirmation as to if the recovery from the normal One is compatible with the GE One. I could be wrong though

Thanks. I guess I'll hold off. I figured there had to be some custom files and that they arent all plug and play. Thanks for your help. I'll prob wait a couple weeks. I just wanted to do it immediately to avoid having to wipe again.

You don't need to wipe for a recovery. When you get the device and its good to go, go into fastboot and type
"fastboot oem unlock"
Then after you unlock it reboot into the stock recovery and do a factory reset.. then hold off for recovery. Once your unlocked you no longer are required to wipe for anything

On a mac? Just fastboot
Rooted using a combination of instructions. Pleased to say it worked. Only problem I have had so far is that on one occasion it told me I was not rooted, when in fact I was. A reboot fixed that problem.

Looks like I have root, but it seems like after some time of the phone being on, it loses root access and I have to reboot in order to regain root access. Any ideas?
I've been gone from the rooting and android scene for a while I recently got my nexus 6 and looked up how to root but all videos are on android 5.0 and I'm on 5.1 does the 5.0 method work? And will the toolkit be the easiest way? Any links to help me ease back into this would be awesome thanks in advance !
One more question when are we getting exposed installer?

What are you talking about? Android 5.1 doesn't exist. Don't use toolkits, they're dangerous and doesn't teach much.
Follow the guide, http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/how-to-nexus-6-one-beginners-guide-t2948481
I assume you mean 5.0.1
yes, same root methods as always. but you dont need a toolkit. its easy enough as it is, for any nexus device.
1. fastboot oem unlock(unlocks your bootloader), then reboot.
2. flash a custom recovery, while in fastboot
3. flash the latest supersu zip in your new recovery.
4. reboot with root :highfive:

oh, im not familiar with it, lol! i thought i linked you the old fashioned way. just unlock the bootloader reboot, flash a custom recovery, then flash the latest supersu in that new recovery. after you reboot, with root. this is the latest supetsu btw http://download.chainfire.eu/695/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.45.zip
How long does the SDK take? It didn't give me an option for slim SDK so I'm just adding whatever it has checked at start and is there anyway to change my SDK path? And can I just skip the installation and try and flash the custom recovery?

Can I just skip the installation of all the SDK or whatever? And try and install the custom recovery? Or do I have to wait for it all to be done?
Although it's the "cheating" way, you can use Wug's Toolkit ?

you dont need to install the sdk. what you need to install is fastboot and adb. both are in the sdk. but, if you google it, youll find much smaller files with fastboot and adb included.

I'm trying to see if there is a way to root the Note 4 with the Lollipop update. I have looked through the forums, but havent found a post or have skipped it by accident. is there anyone that knows if there is a forum already created? if not, is there a way to root it? Thanks

Yes it is very easy to root the Note 4 with CF-AutoRoot. Here is a great guide by @TEKHD you can follow.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-tmobile/general/easy-steps-stock-odin-n910tuvu1anih-cf-t2903733
You can also look at this guide by @jovy23 and he has all the files you need in one zip.

If all you care about it rooting the phone, just follow the guides up to that point. Good Luck!

Not a problem, take your time the first time and follow the instructions exactly. Once you have done it once, you should get it and it is a breeze after that.

I did it this way and it worked perfectly. Had a little mishap though trying to download twrp through pay stpore instead of flashing. But, everything works now
Could you help me? I flashed a stock lollipop rom via odin and it worked flawlessly. I now would like to reroot my device. I downloaded all the correct files and when I go to flash the tar file via Odin I get an error, "security check fail: recovery". It won't flash but luckily didn't brick my device. I've tried plenty of time to no avail
