As we all know Huawei have released EMUI 3.0 into the Chinese market. I think the build version is up to B607. There are ROMs for the L00, L05/L07, & L09 variants. As well a number of custom ROMs have been released by Chinese developers which are quite tantalising. Past experience has shown that ROMs for the L05/L07 variant are compatible with the L10. So it would be nice if we could access these ROMs.
The only barrier I can see is that there is only one custom recovery for these newer ROMs. It's a CWM recovery and the entire interface is in simplified Chinese! TWRP is incompatible as the boot image between the older and newer ROMs is different.
Has any tried a Chinese recovery? Is it useable? I had a look at the CWM recovery but translating it is not an option. I think the language has to be selected when the recovery is being compiled.

Official Team Win Recovery Project for Android one
Between low prices, Nexus-style Android builds, and updates straight from Google, the Android One phones currently on sale in India seem like ideal tinker machines. Now those who want to play with custom ROMs, software modifications, or just want an easy way to root and backup their phones have an official Team Win Recovery Project build available to them. The custom recovery can be downloaded from the official TWRP page . TWRP isn't the first recovery created for Android One, but it's probably the most anticipated.
The first three devices sold under the Android One label are the Spice Dream UNO Mo-498, the Karbonn Sparkle V, and the Micromax Canvas A1. Though the phones vary a bit in case design and ornamentation, they have essentially identical hardware and software, currently Android 4.4. An official Lollipop software update has been promised by Google. Since all three phones are nearly identical, the TWRP build published on the official site should work for all of them. This is the latest version of TWRP, 2.8, with all kinds of tools for flashing multiple ZIP files and customizing the interface.
If you're new to Android modding, here's how it works: you'll need to unlock your phone's bootloader by placing it in fastboot mode and issuing the "fastboot oem unlock" command via a PC with the Android SDK (or a custom alternative) installed. (Note: this will probably wipe all of the data on your phone, but not your MicroSD card.) Then you can flash the TWRP file with "fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.8.1.0-sprout.img". It's easy to mess this stuff up if you're not used to it, so check out THIS GUIDE and substitute the CWM file with TWRP. While you're there, there are already quite a few custom ROMs for Android One that you can check out.

Hi,
I notice many users still use TWRP 2.6.3.3 as apposed to the latest build which is often highlighted by several ROM providers.
Hypothetical question....would a nandroid backup created in a newer version say 2.8.4.0 be recognisable to an older version like 2.6?
Fairly confident it would work in reverse but wondered if the backup build process would affect a recovery if I reverted to an older version which was a better version for flashing certain ROMS?
I guess it could be an" if it aint broke dont fix or change it" scenario ,,but the loyalty to the older version seems fairly common and something I have considered downgrading to if it is more relaible?

it takes all of 10 seconds to change recovery so it's not a big deal. I have been using 2.8.4.0 since it came out and have had no problems.
and yes all versions of TWRP have always been backwards compatible
Hi all,
I am kind of very frustrated with my new Mi Note. I have wasted the whole day today trying to find out how I can archive the following:
1. Get a Rom with supports either Germany or Ireland as region
2. Root
I have tried various things such as TWRP and CWM but I am not making progress. Status as of now is that I a have MIUI 7 Global 5.12.10 Beta and TWRP 2.8.5.0 on my device but root checker say *no root* and still the regions I require are non existent. Basically back to were I started.
I hope anyone of you can help. Thanks in advance.
Take a look here http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/6-1-7-11.29342/
Its 7/1/2016 version that has bootoloader unlocked.Try to flash with TWRP 2.8.6.0
Get a better TWRP version from this post and use it to flash a Xiaomi.eu ROM. European language translations and root access are included by default. I've been using their version 5.12.31 (with some changes I described here) and I can confirm it's been working well. The newer version 6.1.7 seems to have no significant changes so it shouldn't introduce any new errors as well if you use that instead. I'd avoid any later versions for now until the bootloader lock-related problems clear up.

YOU NEED TWRP 3.0.2
this are twrp backupfiles
the basic requirement is original huawei firmware B370 no matter whether it is 432, 900, or 00...... it must be complete be establishedn as a standard....... the google keyboard should be set also huawei should be id and all accounts it must not have any mistakes these are otherwise combined with and are then no longer to be rectified

Looks good, but I'll wat a lil for EMUI 5.X to be released to flash it for my mom. She is actually so confused with huawei's UI and I can't blame her lol. 5.X will improve that a lot I hope.
There is no recovery 3.0.2 for mate s. So I have done with 2.8.7 recovery and if it works, although the year 2017 in time is in Chinese
TWRP 3.0.2
You can dl twrp 3.0.2 on this site
There is something that is not translated and stays in Chinese
Hi. Could anyone be kind enough to post english instructions. I got as far that the Rom was flashed but afterwards I tried to flash supersu(probably understoon instructions wrong) my phone did not boot any more, so I had to restore original firmware..
Thanks.
When you finish the recovery enters terminal and writes these commands before flashing supersu
echo SYSTEMLESS=true>>/data/.supersu

With English translation.
I tried it, but it's over personalized by the dev, and I don't know how to reset all the changes he made to get something that looks like EMUI. So i'm back to stock rom for now
i tried this rom, its impressive, Xposed baked in, felt great to finally play with a custom rom on the Mate S. since its based on an Asian variant of the latest stock rom, it does have the occasional Google notification popup in Chinese, this is due to the Chinese version of Google Play services being needed. this killed it for me, as no matter what, i couldn't get google contacts to sync (tried the various recommended fixes, nothing worked). Some of the Xposed Gravity Box options failed to work too (changing battery icon etc). minor niggles, especially when you can just import contacts as a vcf file.
What impressed me most is Xposed is installed in this rom, and working on the Mate S. Has anyone seen an actual working guide to installing it on the Mate S?!
I'm having the damnest time trying to get TWRP installed.
I've installed ROMS before on my galaxy notes, so I'm not a total noob.
I'm well aware that the TWRP version needs to match the ROM version.
I'd LIKE to get the EU rom installed. Here's what I've tried:
Custom Roms: Need installation via TWRP, which I can't get working.
Miflash: Keeps looking for *.bat files, which don't seem to exist in the ROMS i'm downloading
Updater app - won't install EU rom, saying: "It's not allowed to upgrade to unofficial ROM package".
I successfully used this to install chinese developer to 7.1.20 at the official link: http://www.miui.com/download-323.html
For some reason TWRP (twrp-3.0.2-0-lithium.img) still doesn't work, I can't swipe right or anything at the boot screen.
Incredibly frustrated right now!
Only way for me to get EU ROM installed was to flash it while on Global Stable Chinese with TWRP.
I've done it twice and realize that it's the only way to get any unofficial ROM installed.
After flashing EU ROM TWRP (rc1 or rc2) had the unresponsive touch screen problem. I solved it by using another version from a Chinese guy. Different UI but same functionality. Always working.
Check this guide. Part 4 has the link and instructions for the recovery I'm talking about.
http://en.miui.com/thread-471497-1-1.html
Sent from my MIghty MIX
Got it going, followed instructions/roms as per:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix/how-to/guide-flash-global-china-rom-root-gapps-t3510592
That post contains a miflashable rom (7.1.12) and the matching TWRP.
The combination of those two worked great.

Since the version 7.1.19 there is trwp issue with global and some custom rom. I can explain why I did to install my custom rom (Im currently using epic rom) : so in order assume that your bootloader is unlocked, you download the fastboot rom for mi mix and unzip it, then you install it directly by using the fastboot script (you choose at your convenience) on the unzipped folder (it take about 5-10mn). After that you will be able to install the right trwp ( I tried global and eu both worked) and enjoy with a custom rom.
If you have any question don't hesitate.
