anyone else having trouble transferring files via AFT? after a minute or so, it'll say that I need to unlock my phone even though it's not. even while actively fiddling with it during file transfers, i get the same error message. makes it a hassle when transferring directories at a time for music since I have to unplug and plug back in again to get AFT working.
this happening to anyone else?

I gave up on AFT a long time ago, was always very unreliable with all devices I have used.
I suggest you take a look at airdroid. With 802.11ac Wifi I'm seeing 20MiB/s transfers all wireless while moving files from the browser (chrome) to the Nexus 6 all without having to plug anything anywhere. Convenient and fast.
I'm having no issue with AFT on the latest Yosemite OS.. I just got my Nexus 6 today and transfer all my stuff twice already. Because of the new update the phone had today. And I don't like updating on top of the old one. I like a fresh OS at every android release ?

It freezes up my MBP constantly. Incredibly frustrating utility.

Have OS X 10.9.5 and Nexus 6. But AFT shows "No Android device found" when connecting phone and Mac
for me on nexus 4 (croma 6.0.0.1) and osx 10.10.5 everything is well... but AFT don't see every directory and file!
if i use it under TWRP AFT see every single file!!??
why!?

Hey everyone, PDAnet is now available for android!
http://junefabrics.com/android/index.php
PdaNet does NOT require root access or hacking your phone's firmware in order to work. It is just a regular Android application that works on all Android phones as-is. Currently this initial version supports USB tethering on the T-Mobile G1 phone. Tethering is secure and will also charge your phone at the same time. Your phone can either connect to 3G data or WiFi.

It works perfectly, and root access is not required.
Enjoy!
Good find! Works best with Opera browser (other browsers such as IE and Firefox, won't display pictures for some reason...) Has some connectivity issues when using longer than 5 minutes (yes, I have enable usb bugging enabled and stay alive while connected via usb) All and all, a good program for your laptop without draining your G1 or when the REAL internet goes out. Good find! Thanks! Also, incredibly simple to use!!!
EXE installer? WTF?! How does it work? Does the program require something on the computer-end too?
I'm Linux user, so I can't use it?
Yes, it seems to be only compatible with windows. Since you're in linux, you may try running it through WINE to see what happens.

Did you experience the pictures not loading problem also while using IE or firefox?
this doesn't really seem to work yet
I was able to install it without much trouble and the initial connection looked promising (well, some pages came up anyway).
It was basically impossible to connect to Speedtest.net however and Speakeasy only rated my connection at 287/283 kbps at best (the G1 was on WiFi). I tested it again with the G1 on 3G and got a 409/330 kbps (doesn't that seem weird that it would rate better on 3G?) but then it seemed to stop connecting somehow and I had to restart the program and reestablish the connection on the PC. After a few more minutes it happened again. I would call this basically not useful at the moment, but I hope they can work the bugs out and get some decent speed out of it.
For reference, using Tether WiFi to connect to the G1 over 3G Speakeasy rated the connection at 699/316 kbps. And in my experience it's stable/consistent.
As a disclaimer, this was on my work laptop which has some pretty hefty encryption software installed. While this may be the problem, I didn't have any trouble connecting initially (multiple times).
Additional:
Their "reviews" section is just "customer testimonials", as my honest yet critical assessment of the app's inability to perform as intended was NOT posted and they didn't even bother to drop me an email to try to sort out the problem. I hope they can improve on the app, but they're quickly losing my respect and interest.
I just got this. I dl it to my sd card, connect phone to pc w usb, ran exe through windows. Installed program automatically onto phone. Windows asks to install driver for g1 and it does the work from there.
It seems to work ok, the first few tries on my desktop it would disconnect after a few minutes, restarted phone and its been better but still only seems to stay connected for about 20 min, which should be ample time to do alittle websurfing without getting mad about disconnects.
well they might not have replied because they are aware of the problem, and they clearly state that this is beta software. if you look at the known issues the first one is about the connection dropping and having to reconnect.
once they work out the bugs this software will be pretty useful because of how easy it is to use.
if only i could plug the g1 into the 360 would save me $100...or if i could share the connection with my windows media desktop(i use it as a media server for my xbox and its not even close to a internet connection).
i tried to connect it but it does the network doesnt have sufficient MTU settings. xbox live requires a minimum MTU setting of 1364.
darn.
ill be watching for updates though, should be useful once fully operational.
i've been using mine for a while now...no problems once i turn off the wifi switch on my laptop...recently when i plug it in tho, it says PDAnet is expiring soon...is this supposed to be a paid app?
This app is gay... It was pretty good at first... but once the guy updated to r1.5... its been acting gay... it would come up with random blockings... it blocked www.google.com... wtf?... and wikipedia... yahoo answers... so I just got root and installed WiFi Tether for Root users... works way better and doesnt have blocks...
USB tether 4.2.6
This is supposed to be plug and play. A lot of people have said it's great. I have not been so fortunate. Anyway, could someone give me directions on how to use this. 1. plug in phone via USB. 2. settings/wireless settings/ internet tether (on). 3. Go to PC and click on G1Tether click connect. For me this does not work. Help.
This application is a fine hold-over for people who are too stupid to get root, but it is a VERY VERY poor imitation of tethering.
1) A real tethering solution will NOT require proprietary crap to be installed on the CLIENT.
2) Wired or Wireless tether for root users *IS* a *TRUE* plug-it-in-and-it-works solution. Run the program on the phone, plug in the wire, and you're done. No weird nonsense to be installed on the computer.
Hello all,
Just got my IS a week back.
Facing some minor issues.
The major one relating to bluetooth transfers.
My wife has a Xperia Play, so was trying to send some games & apps using Bluetooth file transfer app.
Small apps go through with no issues, however while transferring larger files (like angry birds and other large file sized games), the transfer slows down, halts & the phone reboots.
I then have an error pop up saying 'The phone has recovered from an unknown crash. Let HTC know' (or something similar along those lines).
Any ideas on this?
Never faced anything like this. Transfers work fine for large files also.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App
Yeah. seems strange.
Had the X10 earlier and never had the issue.
Hello,
one thing that really bugs me about the razr i is that it is not a mass medium, but MTP device when you connect it with the PC. I have serious issues with that (7/64bit). I don't know whether it's the driver or MTP itself, but when i connect my razr i to my PC, everything is like in slow motion.
I click "Computer" ... the blue bar in the adress bar starts running at the left side. Even this takes up to 30 seconds sometimes. I click my razr i, give it a bit of time to select SDCard. This is where it gets really funny.
Each time i navigate through the menus, it has to rebuild the index or anything similar to it. It takes 2+ minutes (!!) for every folder to show up. But it's not over yet, when i want to go to music and click this folder, it's the same issue. The connection is so incredible slow, it's faster uploading and redownloading it. A few weeks ago i copied 3gb to the SD card and it took one or two hours.
When i first discovered, how incredible slow the phone is when i want to access the SD card, i tried to put it into a cardreader, but it's somehow encrypted now (i did not encrypt it by myself, i think the razr does it by itself without asking?). Does anyone have similar issues, has a workaround (i could imagine it's because of my PC, not the phone itself)?
Wnna know something funny? I had similar issues, and using the usb ports in the back of my computer solved it. Also, i strongly recommend you to use AirDroid, its insanely fast.

Back ports, same issue. I started to copy a folder to the internal storage 10 minutes ago, so far it had copied 500kb (50 png icons)
I'm downloading airdroid right now. Anyway i hope MTP will work one day as i think wireless is just a workaround .. I could swear for an hour straight, why did they remove the mass medium option that my DHD always had?
I take sd card out every time
Sent from my XT890 using xda premium
MTP just sucks really.
its much worse on my galaxy nexus then on the razr i. But at least on the razr i I can take the sd card out.
Not sure why google went with MTP.
Edit also could be slow as the phone is still reading and writing to the sd card at the same time as the pc.
Slower than on the razr i? 500kb in 10 minutes is ... 830 bytes per second. 830 BYTES!! Even floppies were faster than that!
Thanks for the AirDroid tip, very useful. One drawback is - apart from that it doesn't work with my beloved opera - it also tells me in chrome that it can't upload folders. So i have to create them manually.. Works fine anyway and it's enough for my needs. Thank you, you made copying to the razr i almost enjoyable!
That is a lot slower then it should be what OS are you running?

Win7 x64. I already reinstalled the moto drivers.
I think that my old mainboard (Gigabyte P35-DS3P) could be the cause .. Although my windows install is pretty old and doesn't run that well anymore. I think i'll format my system soon, maybe it's gone after that.
Can anyone help me figure out why every time i attempt to download a factory image from the google developers site, i get download failed??? Ive been trying to download the 5.1.0 image for my dads nexus 6 for over 2 weeks now...on my phone, tablet and his macbook with safari, firefox and chrome.
It's a bit tricky, but it's only affecting you so for aiding in your troubleshooting it's your computer, router, network, broadband.

And why would you download the image on your phone or tablet? It needs to be on the computer with your Android SDK.

Works only with Samsung phones with Mobile Odin Pro (if it even still works that is).

I've tried on my Verizon fios wifi and my nexus 6's wifi hotspot with my imac and his macbook, my dad's nexus 6's wifi hotspot and his Verizon fios on his macbook. this is crazy. every single download attempt fails? no one else is experiencing this? I can not figure this out. I thought I literally ruled out any other possibility than trouble on the google dev website, but literally we are the only ones experiencing this? I'm at a loss...
PS: thanks for responding respectfully unlike cam30era.

Did you ever figure out what was wrong? Im having the exact same problem, except it only fails with firefox. And only the nexus factory images. Nothing else causes a problem.
Try a different browser? It could simply be an issue with Firefox.
File transfer does not work (keeps falling back to "USB for charging" always)
Hi,
as the title suggests for a very long time (>1 month) my file transfer does not work.
The only way I can transfer files from PC to the phone is reboot into recovery (TWRP) and there it works normally, but it's a pain in the a...rm.
I've also tried different ROMs with the same effect, although I remember it did work very briefly for one boot cycle before I finished setting everything up and now it doesn't work again.
My suspicion is that some hidden setting that I'm not aware of is in conflict with the file transfer feature. Or maybe Xiaomi doesn't like it when you deny Mi Cloud permissions etc. and that's the way they get back at you, IDK!
Nobody else experiences this? Cause I didn't find too many complaints about this in the forum.
Happy new year and a very good and successful start into 2020, everyone.
If you not sure what cause the problem, just switch to another rom or do a hard reset.

First, do you have the correct drivers installed on your PC to identify your device?
Second, you can always turn on USB Debugging and see if that allows you to use FTP.
Third, if you have turned on USB Debugging, you can use adb push.
If I wanted to transfer Roblox to my phone, I would do this
adb push C:\Users\SenseiCheekClapper\Downloads\Roblox.apk /sdcard
To make it a hell of a lot easier, just type adb push, drag the file into the terminal and it will autofill the file location, and then type /sdcard.

When I have had this problem it has always turned out to be the USB-cable that was the culprit. This phone is very picky when it comes to cable, both for file transfer and Android Auto, at least for me! The original cable doesn't always work all the time for me, but a good quality cable of another brand always works for me.
