What is it about the Nexus phone that wanting me to keep coming back...
I bought it when it first came out on the Google store. After a few months of using it, I traded for the LG G2. The G2 is nice and all but it is not as smooth as the Nexus for sure. So, I traded to Nexus 5 again.. After another month of using, I traded for the HTC M8. The M8 is nice build but with a case on, no one notice any different. I can not even deposit checks to my bank using the M8 camera. So now I thinking of coming back to the Nexus again..
Just wondering if anyone in the same situation like me..
Thanks..

i think you should ask yourself: Why the hell i keep buying every phone that comes out?
i've been though like 6 phones in the past year <.<
had the nexus 5 twice and just sold it again cause I managed to get a OnePlus one
I think we all love the nexus mainly because how easy it is to upgrade, customize and because its really the best deal.
I sold the note 3 to get n5 and n7 2013.
I can't complain at all.
Best thing about it is they are light way and easy to develop for
Nexus5 usually is the best on XDA for Development and Fun
I'm personally thinking of getting rid of my N5 and getting the M8..
I've thought about buying several phones since owning the N5 since launch day. I like gadgets. But I've saved myself the grief and just held on to the N5 as I've played with all the 'latest greatest' flagships (sans the 1+1) and still to this day there is not a smoother snappier Android device than the mighty N5. This phone has spoiled me bad with its stutter-free blazing fast operation. It's going to take one hell of a device to get me to upgrade
I decided to get m8, couldn't be happier. Although the Nexus 5 was and is a nice phone I find the battery to be mediocre. If it wasn't for the battery I doubt I would have picked up the m8

I will say I periodically go back to N5 and am reluctant to sell. I will soon...as I need to handle some bills lol
After using the iPhone 5s for a few months, I bought the OnePlus One, didnt like it... but that got me itching for Android again so I sold it and bought another Nexus 5. Literally just booted it up a few minutes ago. Super excited to be back.

Umm, I just ordered the 1+1, I have N5 currently. What didn't you like about 1+1? I am probably going with 4.4 on it instead of CM.

Mainly just its size. It was too big for practical use for me. I had a hard time making the decision to sell it, there is no question that it's an amazing phone, it just wasn't for me. If you have no problem with a phone that large, then you will absolutely love it. It is a seriously bad ass piece of hardware.

Tried the GN2? My Note 2 is my backup, love it but N5 is way easier 1handed. May just sell my Note, Note 2 and N4 and keep N5 and 1+1.

Yeah, the Note 2 is too big for me too. I guess I'm just not a phablet guy. The N5 fits my large screen needs perfectly. I also have a Moto X which I absolutely love, and an iPhone 5s which will get upgraded to the 6 when it comes out. I think 4.7" is the absolute perfect screen size, so I can't wait for the iPhone 6. Gaming on that thing is gonna be amazing.
leaving BIG RED to either Tmob prepaid or ATT GO PHONE.. Im kind of in a smaller town but all have stores here so I am assuming they are ok.. I bought a N5 on swappa.com. I am a little nervous to leave vzw been with them over 12 years but I am tired of the locked down phones and games they play.

Bad idea lol. I just came from an M8 its good but the 1 flaw which is the camera is such a huge let down. The M8 would be the greatest phone Android has ever been on if only HTC would quit ignoring us and put better cameras in their phones. HTC is like Nintendo, kept ignoring the community/tech industry suggestions for hardware for years now they're in last place. They have been for 2 console generations now. On topic lol, if HTC had the camera sensor from a GS5, hell even a GS4 it would be perfect.

Is the camera really that bad? I'm thinking of doing the same and getting the M8. I did see some HDR shots which didn't look as bad as people made the camera out to be. Even on the Nexus I keep HDR on to get better shots. Is the front facing camera better on the nexus also?

I've had every nexus device except the N4, I've also had every note device except the N3.
Touchwiz has it's pluses and minuses, and yeah it's ugly, I much prefer the nexus software, I'm currently using an N5, but I will also make pretty good use of the s pen, I definitely miss it at times.... plus, the possibility of a zerolemon extended battery.
I'm now quite liking the idea of owning both of these devices, as that way, i'll know for sure which one I want to keep

The Nexus 6 is just a big phone. The Note series are a true phablet. You can live with it for ebooks. I'm a heavy user. I currently charge my Nexus 5 2-3x a day.
the note 4 is a great choice over the nexus 6 for many reasons
Farewell my Nexus 5, you will be missed as the best phone I've ever owned. From the Nexus S, to the Galaxy Nexus, to the Nexus 4, then to the Nexus 5, It is with a sad face that is time to retire you with full honors. :crying:
In the 14 months we've known each other, you've been my best friend, never more than a few feet away. Of all the generations of Nexus devices I've owned, you'll always be my favorite. It is with great sorrow that it's time to move on to bigger (literally) phones. may your next owner appreciate you as much as I have.
Congrats! I have been checking the stock for the N6 every week and I cannot seem to catch it in stock. I got a cyber Monday code for the Moto X 2014 version so I ordered that on Dec 15th to take advantage of the discount. I am loving the Moto X so far but the whites on the screen are a bit dirty compared to the N5, but the colors are nicer on the Moto X.
Had the N6 been readily available I would have ordered that instead, but I still need to see one in person to get a feel for the size.
How are you dealing with the size of shamu coming from the N5?

I gave up on checking inventory and just bought one locally at a TMobile store outright. It's unlocked. They have demo phones at most of their stores, check it out. I didn't want to get one without seeing it first myself. It's huge, like almost too big huge. I don't think this is the direction phones need to go, it needs to go back to like a 4.5-5 inch screen. It's extremely heavy, and I can see it very easy to drop as you cant wrap your hands around it as well.

Thanks for the response, I had a feeling that it may be too large. I am going to have to stop by a Tmobile store one of these days to see it. I really wish they went with a 5.2 or 5.5 inch screen instead for the N6, oh well.
I returned mine n6 mostly because of size and weight. It has it's pro's and con's Like many new devices...

Honestly, the Nexus 6 could not interest me less at this point. The Nexus 5 is almost near the limit of what I would say is a comfortable size for holding in your hand, so the N6 for me is just going to be uncomfortable to use.
Couple this with a significant ratcheting-up of the price, plus no real new hardware features (better specs, but that's about it), and my interest is essentially eliminated. I'm already on Lollipop, so even an OS upgrade isn't a factor.
To each their own, but the N6 is not for me.

I can only reach up to about 1/2-3/4 the volume rocker when holding it in my left hand, any higher and I have to shift/tilt the phone. If I try to reach for the top right corner, I'm basically touching dead center of the screen without shifting.
On a Nexus 6 I'll probably only be able to reach halfway up at most lol..

Have fun with it. I'll be sticking with my nexus 5. After trying out the 6 at Tmobile, it wasn't any faster or would do anything better for me. It only gives you a bigger screen. If that's what you want, go for it. I'll wait for later in the year when some truly killer devices will be coming out with 3.0(+)ghz-64bit-4gb RAM-killer cameras-more storage-etc........ devices that will be more future proof. Once people see what's in store for this year, I think they will regret not holding onto their devices a little bit longer. I just can't see buying a new phone right before a MAJOR shift in the market happens.
Not saying you made a bad decision, as it's your money. Do as you will. Just pointing out that this last batch of flagship phones is also the last batch of old school phones. Even cheap phones now are coming out with 64bit and 2gb ram. The nexus 6 will be run-of-the-mill very soon.
I had exactly the same feeling about my Nexus 5 when I handed it over to the Mrs to sell in the USA. :crying:
Spent all of christmas in the wilderness with an old HTC Wildfire, (yes really,) and my Nexus 7 2013.
With the money I got from the Nexus 5, I got a brand new LG G2 and love it. When I use the G2, I can really see the corners that LG/Google cut to get the Nexus 5 at the reduced price point. The battery life is almost double the Nexus 5 and thats even with all the LG bloat.

Title says it all: so am I missing something? The n6 just isn't much different in real world use as I have n4 with Nexus 5 experience rom L5.02. The camera is slow and in use over holiday no better than n4. Defaulted to wife's iphone 5s instead.
Screen size is nice and I have big hands, but balance is off and phone too heavy it seems, though was getting used to it.
Nonetheless, called google to return it - going back Monday.
Any thoughts?
Dave

Wait, do you mean Note 4 or Nexus 4?
Nexus 4. I hear you all, just don't see n6 as much of a "real world" upgrade over the n4. I've drooled over this phone since it was leaked as shamu. Always wanted and needed larger screen. This is about 45 grams heavier and girth is unbalanced, always feel like I am about to drop it. So just can't justify it all things considered.
But thanks for thoughts.
BTW, I will have 3 useless cases now.
And researched the heck out of it. Fully aware of the great specs, they haven't translated into much of a difference. I was hoping opinions would show me something new, or that maybe I have a bad version. Mine is blue, 32.
I came to a Nexus 6 from the Nexus 4 I've been using since it was originally released and I honestly don't know what you're smoking.

Using a phone with Nexus 4's specs these days is perfectly fine. Millions of iPhone 6 users can't be wrong.
I can see the point of the OP in terms of size and handling. They are two completely different animals. I have an N4 with a broken sim slot so I keep it on the charger next to my bed and use it as a Wi-Fi device. When sitting next to my N6, I usually grab the N4 for many tasks like typing because it feels so perfect in the hand.
The N6 is a majestic phone that blows the N4 away on so many levels, but if handling is high on the list of priorities which is sounds like it is for the OP, I can understand. Also the N4 screen has whiter whites which I prefer. I'm just saying that it isn't as crazy as it sounds depending on what you value.

Hello! I'll cut to the chase: I've been wanting to buy a Nexus since Nexus 4 came out but the opportunity passed me by...until now. If it's not too much to ask, how's the real world usage of Nexus 6? I'm not a heavy user and most of the time, I just used my previous smartphone (Galaxy S3 2 years ago) to listen to music (seldom or while I'm driving on my scooter) and check in places via Swarm as well as checking Twitter and Facebook for updates (Will not use the Facebook app this time around, it's still a battery hog). My last smartphone, as previously stated, was the Galaxy S3 which I sold 2 years ago and I'm rocking a Nokia 1280 as of late. Just need your inputs about the device (the size doesn't bother me). Thank you and thanks in advance for replying to this thread.
If you don't mind size I'd be hard pressed to recommend anything else
^I agree. I've had every nexus except the Nexus S and the Nexus 6 is actually a very nice device. The only thing that I feel may stop other users from getting it is the size. I'm currently on my 3rd day and I still find it hard to use it with one hand or when I'm on the move. Other than that I think you should get it, you would love it.

I do not mind the size at all, it's the timely updates that I'm really after. How's the battery life? With what I posted about usage, will it last long as well?

I get 4 to 5 hours SOT with extremely heavy use. In your situation, you will easily make it through the day and into the next.
