[Q] Root fail "There is no SU binary installed" [solved] - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Wondering if anyone can help me with rooting my phone. I followed the instructions from infysim on rooting a nexus 6.
After I restarted my phone and went into SuperSU it gave me the message "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem! If you just upgraded to android 5.0, you need to manually re-root."
How do I manually re-root my phone or fix the issue? I've tried re-flashing the SuperSU.zip in recovery but it didn't make a difference
*Edit: I re-ran cf auto root and it worked. I tried deleting this thread but couldn't find an option to.

[Q] GPE 4.3 lost root and can't get it back [SOLVED]

Ok I got my phone new in July and fully converted it to the google play edition successfully. I rooted it as well and had no problems. Eventually the OTA for 4.3 came out and I lost root. I successfully got it back using superuser (clockworkmod version). After that the JWR66Y update came out in august or september. I didn't lose root on that OTA. Now my problem:
Last night I wanted to switch from superuser to supersu. I installed supersu from the play store. Supersu said it needed to update supersu so I let it. It failed. I then downloaded the latest clockwork recovery (6.0.43), flashed it and then tried to install UPDATE-SuperSU1.6.5.zip. No errors of any kind came up. I then rebooted the phone and I had no root. No superuser app and no supersu app. Running su from android terminal emulator causes the shell to hang.
I then booted back in to recovery and connected my phone to my mac. Ran adb shell and cleaned out all of the su crap. /system/xbin/su /system/bin/su /system/app/superuser.apk /system/app/supersu* /data/app/eu.blahblah.supersu.apk /system/xbin/daemonsu
After I did that I wanted to see if TWRP would work better. I flashed that (latest one from their site) and then tried to install the supersu zip again. Same thing as before with CWM.
Booted back in to recovery once again and manually deleted all of the su crap. I then tried to flash the zip flashable version of superuser (clockworkmod's). After I installed the zip then rebooted I got a message saying su needs to update. I try to update it and it fails.
So I really need to get root back. I don't care if its superuser or supersu or something else. Someone please help me with this. I'm completely stumped on the issue.
Thank you
Edit: missed deleting 3 files from /system/etc.
.has_su_daemon
.installed_su_daemon
instal-recovery.sh
Once I deleted those and reinstalled superuser.zip everything works now.

[Q] SuperSU binary update problem

Hi i have the htc one on tmobile running 4.3. I was able to successfully unlock the boot loader and root the phone but after downloading some root required apps and playing around a bit my superSU is telling me "The SU binary needs to be updated." and when i hit "normal" to install the update it either says failed or my phone reboots and im back at square one. Can you please please please help. or at least tell me where to get the latest SU binary update.
You need a custom recovery. If you don't have one installed, do so. Then use the CWM/TWRP option. It will reboot into recovery and update.
Download here and flash in recovery

[Q] Losing root on Android 4.4.2

I wonder why I am losing root no matter which rom I flash.
I am with S-ON. I have checked that the rom I flash will work on S-ON.
They all root the device with SuperSU.
I have done a Full wipe every time I flash a rom.
The superSU works perfectly when newly flashed. But after I install applications and use the phone for a period of time, the SuperSU stops working.
I sometimes perform a temporary unroot to run some applications that requires no root.
It is usually able to recover from temporary unroot. But, sometimes after temporary unroot. When I root it again with superSU, it will restart without doing anything. Then when I go to superSU after restart, it will require me to Update the SU Binary. But if I click update, it will turn black screen and restart AGAIN.
And I try to flash the SU Binary with TWRP, TWRP just turn black and restart the phone after I choose the zip. I have repeated these a couple of times with a couple of ROMS. They are all Android 4.4.2 with Sense.
I cannot even see any error message updating the SU Binary, the phone just turn black screen and restart. This is really annoying...
I have tried to flash a CWM for updating the SU Binary, but it works exactly the same as TWRP. However, when I quit CWM it will prompt a message about losing root and ask if I fix it or not.
I have pressed "fix it" once before, and it brick my device...
Does anyone have the same problem here? I think it happens more likely with S-ON.

SuperSU not installing

i have a nexus 5x that i want to root running on stock firmware unlocked.
when i try flashing the superSU installer zip in twrp it says
Code:
done
but when i reboot, there is no supersu app and root checker says my phone is not rooted.
any help? thanks
I'm sure that there's a whole bunch of output above that "done". Post a recovery log from the flash instead, it'll be so much more useful...
