[Q] Tempered root and stucked - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
My phone is Htc one m7 unlocked and tempered root, also my hboot is 1.57 and s on and clockwordmod recovery v6.0.4.8
I'm basicly stucked now cause i was planning to turn my phone gpe edition but cause of my hboot i can't be able to s off.
How can i turn back to stock recovery and get off that tempered root thing?

You should be able to return to Stock Software easily enough. Depending on your current os and what files are available for your device.
But to go back to 100% Stock with a ***LOCKED*** bootloader and no ***TAMPERED*** flag requires the device to be s-off.
Can you please post the output of
Code:
fastboot getvar all
. But remove your imei and serial numbers before posting :good:

Ok the fact your on the stock Rom still may help. Unfortunately there's not a lot of files about for your device. What su app do you have some have an option to unroot and uninstall. Then a factory reset with Stock recovery should do the job. Only problem then is missing preload data. This gets wiped when you unlock the bootloader and OTA updates won't work without it.
I'm still looking

All I can find is this and I'm not even sure what it is as I don't know the language of the website.
http://www.trandroidev.com/one-m7-r...09-401-108-yeni-guncelleme-190-mb-civari.html
I think it's an OTA .zip if I'm right you can download it. Open it on your pc and inside there will be a firmware.zip. extract it and open it. Inside the firmware.zip you'll find the stock recovery you need. You can flash it with fastboot like any custom recovery.

[Q] Google CID, S-ON

Hello,
I've made a mistake. While trying to convert my HTC One to Google Edition, I've mistakenly turned S-ON.
The OS was running fine before it was S-ON. Now it boots up to Homescreen and reboots immediately.
The CID is the one from Google Edition. So I can't flash any RUU's.
I can lock and unlock the Bootloader, or flash another Recovery etc.
But since the OS keep rebooting I cant use ADB and turn S OFF.

" I've mistakenly turned S-ON." -> why, oh why?? dont you realize that's a one way ticket??
Anyway, are you saying you are able to UNLOCK bootloader, if so there may be hope: Unlock bootloader and use rumrunner to get s-off (AND STAY S-OFF)

Try sideloading another rom via recovery and flashing it..

Any way to use rumrunner without a working OS? As I stated above, I don't access to ADB.
@n1234d
I'll try sideloading via custom recovery. Any ROM suggestions?

try installing a custom ROM for 3.62, such as ARHD 31.6 (rooted & unsecured kernel) and get S-Off using rumrunner.
(you may have to try different ROMs as you're on GPE hboot & firmware.)
Runs fine with the mentioned ROM. I'll keep it at S-OFF this time. Thank you very much :good:

[Q] htc one sprint ruu failing. help please

Help please?? I am trying to RUU my HTC One. I successfully relocked my bootloader.
However, when I start the process, it fails (unknown error). I am told that I need to use the "correct" RUU and try again. My problem is that the one I am using claims to be correct. Sprint_HTD_One_m7wls_1.29651.10_RUU.zip
I have noticed that when I am going through the RUU process I am shown the screen that asks to compare the current version with the new one. The current image version is blank. Nothing there. No current image version at all.

The RUU you are trying to flash is a downgrade, thats why you can't flash it. 1.29.651.10 is for hboot 1.44 and you are on 1.56. You need s-off to downgrade with a ruu.
Refer to the sprint htc one forum to see if this is possible to s-off your phone on hboot 1.56 and then downgrade using the ruu
or
flash a rom for sprint htc one.

first your bootloader is relocked, you'll need to unlock it.
flash twrp recovery for M7WLS (sprint variant)
then download a sprint compatible rom. You can find them here .
push it to your phone and flash it.
If you have questions about how to do any of these steps ask me here, we'll go step by step...

My basic problem is that my radios were not connecting with Sprint at all. So, I understand that I need to do a RUU to fix that. Flashing a custom rom won't fix that (?). Now, I am unlocked with S-on. I have TWRP available. When I reboot, I am taken to the HTC lock screen, but if I unlock it, I get a white HTC screen that lets me do nothing.
I just want to get it back to what I had when I took it out of the box. If you can walk me though this, I would appreciate it. I am NH if we can do this vocally.

With s-on, its not possible to use the available ruu. You could use the latest guru reset rom available for your phone. Select the option to wipe, install stock recovery and stock radio.

download this ruu.zip http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu-zip-m7_wls_jb_50_sprint_1-29-651-10_ruu_decrypted-zip/
save it in the same folder where adb and fastboot are
reboot your phone in bootloader mode, select fasboot, plug your usb cable.
open your command prompt from fastboot/adb folder
type:
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
(make sure you use capital letter for RUU)
your phone will reboot in ruu mode, a black screen with a silver HTC logo
then type:
Code:
fastboot flash zip <name_of_ruu_you_have_downloaded>.zip (without < and >)
wait for the ruu to flash. It will probably output something like: failed, flush image again so do the same command again
Code:
fastboot flash zip <name_of_ruu_you_have_downloaded>.zip (without < and >)
then
Code:
fastboot reboot
your phone should boot to your stock rom.

I have just tested the link and it work fine for me, the download speed isn't great atm but you'll be able to get the file in maybe 1 hour (200-300 Kb/sec)

The download has begun working but all my attempts truncate/stop at around 20MB... Nowhere near 1gb. I will keep trying -- because right now I have an HTC One with working Cyanogenmod... but no connectivity at all with Sprint.
Do you happen to have a copy you can throw in dropbox for me?
And... this is the first time I've ever used these forums, so, I am still learning what I am doing. Thanks for your patience
I did download a rom called
Sprint_HTC_One_3.04.651.2_Stock_Rooted_Odexed.zip
If I flash this, will it fix my radios or will it just put me deeper in the hole?
I am on my 10th try for the htc1guru ... but none has made it past 40mb

I finally was able to download the entire file. Then, I carefully followed instructions as you sent...
At last step, I received a "failed 32 header error"
so, I repeated the flashboot flash zip command again. same error
repeated a third time. same error
did fastboot reboot and.... nothing still at cyanogenmod with no connectivity. It didn't take.
It went as planned up until the Failed message.
Please tell me you have another idea or a way to deal with this.

I did finally get the entire file... and did everything you suggested. Unfortunately, I got a Failed remote "32 header error"
I repeated the whole procedure a second time. Still nothing. I checked the MD5 of the file and it apparently was corrupt.
SO... I was back to Cyanogenmod 11 with no Sprint. As a last ditch try before retiring to bed, I came upon a zip file that said it had Sprint radio files. I figured, heck, what have I got to lose? So, I flashed the small zip. and POOF... works! My phone is back AND I didn't have to go back to stock.
I do want to say THANK YOU for all your help. Knowing you were there to help me along encouraged me not to throw my phone under a passing truck. I am sure that once we got that dang file downloaded correctly, it would have worked.
Even though it didn't turn out as we started.... your help was immeasurable for me. Thanks again.

Did you flashed a sprint compatible custom rom? You can't flash custom roms for the M7_UL on your m7_wls, both phones haves different partitions layout. Reflash a sprint custom Ron using a sprint compatible custom recovery or flash the latest sprint ruu from htc website (Google search: htc support rom download).

[Q] HTC One update with root and stock recovery fails

I have htc one (M7) GSM version, unlocked the bootloader, installed twrp recovery and rooted the device (still S-ON)
Now I received a new OTA update, and as usual, i flashed the stock recovery to install the update
However, this time, when trying to install the update, the device reboots, starts installing (with a green triangle) and half way stops and the screen shows a red triangle...
Any idea why does it fail?

The second link helps finding which assert is failing
In my case, I get "Check /data/preload/SoundHound_Freemium.apk failed, error No such file or directory()"
I have never deleted a system app before... i guess i have to find a way to flash it or something...
Thanks
EDIT: the packaged app "SoundHound" version 6.1.2 is there, and is enabled... I don't understand why the update fails
EDIT2: I can't find the folder /data/preload at all... it seems this folder is deleted after unlocking the bootloader
EDIT3: It looks like we should have backed up these apps before unlocking the bootloader... now I guess we have to extract them from the update package and copy them manually
EDIT4: this is an old post that sums it up in a nice way... yet, without a solution for those who didn't take notice

You did when unlocking the bootloader. Unlocking bootloader wipe /data so it also wipe /data/preload and all files in that folder. You must restore all files for the ota to install.

What ruu are you trying to flash, just changing cid isn't enough you need to downgrade to a compatible version main by flashing a firmware package also. Based on the fact you appear to have changed cid to HTC__001. I guess your wanting to flash the 4.19.401.9 HTC Europe RUU?
If that's the case you need to flash 3.62.401.1 or 4.19.401.9 firmware package. Then the ruu will work.
As for the red text it will disappear after you flash the ruu, but any modification you make afterwards (custom recovery, rooted stock Rom or custom Rom) will bring it back.
To get rid of it with custom software you would need to flash a modified firmware with the message removed. :good:

Yeah I can see you changed the CID as it does not match your firmware version After flashing the RUU you can safely update with OTA's no problem :good: To get the RUU to flash follow the below procedure
Download this firmware package. And put it in your fastboot folder
http://xda7.androidrevolution.org/db_mirror/Firmware/HTC/HTC_One/401/4.19.401.8.zip
With the phone connected with fastboot usb flash the firmware using the following commands.
Code:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem rebootRUU
< --- *case sensitive ---^^^
The phone will reboot to a black screen with a Silver HTC LOGO. This is RUU mode. Now we're going to flash the firmware.
Code:
fastboot flash zip 4.19.401.8.zip
The first flash will be short. It's just a preupdate preparing the hboot for the new firmware. So we need to do the same command again.
Code:
fastboot flash zip 4.19.401.8.zip
The second flash will take a little longer and this time it will flash the full firmware. The progress bar on the phone screen will not reach 100% this is normal as long as the command window has completed its output the flash is done.
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Now in the bootloader connected with fastboot usb run the ruu .exe on your pc
Thanks for everything, man! you saved me...... :good: :highfive: :victory:

AT&T M7, Soft Brick, Desperate for help!

I post as a final measure, as after two days of being unable to use my AT&T HTC One M7, I am in need of help. Badly. I have tried everything I could find, it either errors, fails, or crashes, nothing is working for me. I am without an OS, and have an unlocked bootloader, TWRP, and sleep deprivation. This all started when attempting to update to the newest Android available, and has left me stranded with a soft brick. If anyone has any ideas for me, PLEASE speak up. My phone was working fine until yesterday, and I am NOT interested in going back to my Iphone.

What issue the update caused exactly? The phone is stick at the HTC splash screen?
Post the output of "fastboot getvar all" (remove you irmei/sn before posting)
Is you bootloader locked/unlocked?

The phone will freeze at the htc splash, and then reboot into TWRP.
Unlocked
1st install any lollipop recovery, latest would be good
2nd search for latest RUU.ZIP (Lollipop) and install with "htc_fastboot.exe" (google for these 2 terms!, follow the htc_fastboot.exe commands instructions which should be explained on that site of the file)
3rd be happy.

This is the typical problem of updating a lollipop rooted rom. Relock your bootloader and flash the latest at&t ruu, then install all updates (if any) before unlocking and rootimg

Thank you so much! This finally fixed it. I tried flashing the ruu, but I didnt realize my bootloader had to be relocked.
