[Q] Friends with moto - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
Had a quick question if anyone still had a Friends with Moto promo code back when they were being given out in January. Apparently they can still be used to get the moto g at a slight discount. If anyone still has one that they will not be using and would be willing to share I would really appreciate it. Thank you for any responses!

Shipping to Gibraltar?

Hiho guys!
A friend of mine is at the moment in Gibralta and I'm wondering whether you can have Nexus one shipped over there or not? Considering it's a part of the UK (in some weird way?) I actually thought it was possible but now I'm not as sure anymore.
Help will be very appreciated!

Could one of you beautifully clever people unlock my G1?

Hi All,
I recently bought a G1 off ebay...its locked to T-Mobile. I knew that when I bought it, however i have tried people who supply unlock codes and they cannot find the code for it!
Its really frustrating me! Is there not another way around this? Surely one of you can work something out I've seen you all do amazing things!!!
All the best,
//Serg
I had a few come backs with no unlock codes available from internet unlock suppliers as well. Then came across a site that did actually supply the service it offered -and unlock code was sent to my email address within 10 minutes.
If you do not get any postive - or quick fix answers, I will PM you tonight when I get home - I do not have the site details here at the office
Good luck
PM me as well..
Thanks!
great thanks that is much appreciated!

you can also buy codes off of ebay. i bought one and got it within hours and it worked perfectly! best of luck dude!

Moto Care Replacements

I have a Moto X2 (Pure) with Moto Care that was recently accidentally damaged. I have two questions I would like advice on:
I. I don't want to do "advance exchange", as I have another phone (crappy one) that I can use, and don't want to incur the $25 advance exchange charge. How does the return work? Do they email me a return label and then send me a new phone after they receive mine? Has anyone done it recently in the US? How long is the turn around?
2. How do you customize the new phone? I no longer have the email address engraved on the old phone, so I need to re-customize. How would I accomplish that with an exchange?
Ask Moto. I don't think you have to pay advance charge for Motocare since you're paying the deductible... As for the customization, they may give new Motomaker code.

Unfortunately Motorola has not released the files "flash blank" for Moto G (2nd gen) to recover the bootloader.
There is nothing you can do today. It is a weight paper.

Good afternoon,
Friend you already managed to recover the g2 bike with this tool?
Why did you do that?!? It's probably the ONLY way to hard brick this phone.
I'll cut out all the bull**** for you: you only have one realistic option right now, and that is to load up Amazon and just order yourself a new phone. The higher end Moto G5 plus is a fair successor for around $/€250. You may sell your Moto G2 on eBay as non-functioning if you want to, even for a minimal price. $20 can mean the difference between the 2GB/16GB and 4GB/32GB configuration. And the RAM boost alone makes your next phone a hell of a lot more future - proof. Surely, more future - proof than this one. Besides, there is really no reason to keep what you have now turned into an expensive paperweight around (unless you actually need a paperweight); and, since it's quite a popular phone, you might find someone who will be willing to buy a hard bricked unit cheap for parts.
Yes, there are other things you can do such as sending it to some stranger to JTAG and *maybe* see it again after months, or order a new motherboard and pretend you'll manage to install it without messing everything else up, but these are all far from viable and likely a waste of time and money. (At this point of this phone's lifetime, saving up for an upgrade makes more sense than investing in any repair of any kind)
