Locked APN settings - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the HTC One M7 from Verizon. I am wanting to switch it over to ST. When I insert the SIM card i get the unknown SIM card error. After a reboot and a few minutes wait I can make calls and send & receive plain texts. I can not get ANY mobile data. My APN settings will not allow me to add or edit existing settings.
I have searched and searched! CM11 and Liquid Smooth ROMs make my baseband and IMEI disappear so no mobile signals work AT ALL and ViperOne sticks in a bootloop. I tried these ROMs to see if maybe they would do the trick.
Here are the screen shots of my mobile network settings and software information:

I'm having the SAME EXACT problem. I've heard that you need a custom rom, but I don't know which one will give me the ability to change APN's...that's all i would need it for lol.
Have you found a solution yet?

No T-Mobile network

I took my girlfriends S1 on holiday with my 3 network sim in it, when we came home I put her T-mobile sim back in, now it will not connect to the T-Mob network, it will connect to 3G? Putting the sim in my SNote and all is well. I have since install a custom rom to see if that would help but still no good.

Believe me I have taken the sim out and tried it in the "wrong way" lots of times. I have also looked at your solutions page before, very helpfull. But why will the sim work on one network but not on another, and the non working sim will work in another phone????

Check the modem on both phones.
If the phone that doesn't recognize T-mobile has a different modem, then load the modem that the phone that works has through oden or CWR.
Hope you know how to check the modem and load new ones.
Good luck

This will happen as T.Mobile may be using a different Radio band ..most likely you changed the APN and Network settings when you used it with another SIM Card , whilst abroad ...all you may had to do was check your Network Settings in menu> settings>wireless and Networks> Mobile Networks and reset it back for the T.Mobile network, initially
To understand this better read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMTS_frequency_bands
at the same time since you upgraded by flashing to JB, you may have to select a new modem that is suitable for JB, you will find all modems at My Android Collections
Data but no calls
Me back again, I have tried all xx modems, reverted back to stock rom, then GB, them back to CM10. When I first turn on phone it finds network (i'm on a giffgaff sim now) it says GiffGaff at the bottom of the screen for about 2 seconds, then it says emergengy calls only. I can still connect to internet. APN settings correct, IMEI correct, In Settings - About Phone - Status, i'm connected to network, service status = out of service, mobile network state = connected, my phone number = unkown. Where can I go from here?
More
Another thing I have just noticed, when I take the sim OUTwhen the phone is still ON, the "no network" on the screen turns to giffgaff,

Try to set your phone number by following this guide , it was written for a Korean version, so just adjust it for your phone version.

I didn't check the apn settings but is it
Compulsory? If it is. Then I might have to
Go to the office of the network provider.

If the provider's APN details are not in the Samsung ROM then you will need to set them up manually.
Check out the provider's website, the APN details are probably there.
Without the correct APN details in your phone, you don't get mobile data.

Some of the carriers a new sim will take minimum 48 hrs to activate. Have you tried a working sim card ? So whatever replacements on Sim card please give 48 hrs before checking. if you really wish to check settings > more settings> Mobile networks> Network operators ---- see if you are able to find your service provider, takes some time to pop out. Select and then check. Also on this same page ensure "Select Automatically" is enabled.
Another thing you need to check is settings > more settings> Mobile networks> select Mobile data if you want data access.... Hope this helps.
By the way Note is a beautiful device, never gets issues unless some external problems....so dont worry.

The sim I have is active it works in my other phones but my Note. T-Mobile had me do the step you have listed above but the only provider I could find is AT&T not T-Mobile thats when they advised me to changed the sim and they gave me and I still have the same problem.

Galaxy Tab - No SIM detected

I am trying to get the 3G working on my Galaxy Tab.
I have tried this SIM unlock - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843323, even though it seemed successful it still does not appear that it recognizes the SIM.
I re-stocked the device back to Overcome and the device still will not work with the SIM. I have tried setting the APN when JB was installed however that still did not work, the APN did not save.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this going?
Cheers!
Fonz~
You have the separate the issue logically.
Is the SIM working, it is found, it found the network, has signal, can make calls and receive call. Can SMS and receive SMS, no 3G but has edge?
If that is the issue, no amount of unlocking will help. APN will help probably.
So what is your problem again?

1. SIM is working - tried in my Galaxy Nexus and found a signal.
2. SIM was bought from a store - pre-paid.
3. See 1. (network & signal)
4. See 1. (make/receive calls)
5. See 1. (send/receive SMS).
6. SIM gave 3G network coverage
The Galaxy Tab simply says "no SIM found" however reboots when adding/removing SIM (with gingerbread 2.3, Overcome 4)
I should have rephrased.
When i said SIM working, i wasn't talking about the SIM. I should have said is the SIM working in the tab. Then the rest of the question also about in the tab.
Ok. Not detected. No point trying apn.

If it makes any difference I have used a SIM in the tablet before, it was a while ago and it was before I wiped back to Overcome 4. Back when I was using ICS/JB [not sure which].
So the tab is definitely capable of SIM usage.
Anyone have any idea? Would really appreciate it.

[Q] AT&T, unlocked, no mobile data in Europe?

Hi. I live in Europe, I was jealous of you guys, so I ordered Moto on ebay. To save some cash, I ordered locked AT&T version. Everything went great, I was able to unlock the phone, it accepted the sim card, I can make calls and send SMS. So far, so good.
Then I turned on mobile data. And...nothing happend.
To clarify: Using the same sim card, I was able to use mobile data on good old Samsung i9000, so the data is activated. It's there and should work.
So I started looking around in settings, tried turning on the data roaming and looked into the "about phone" section.
Here's what it says:
Mobile Network Type: EDGE
Service state: In service
Roaming: Not roaming
Mobile Network State: Disconnected
Is there something I need to do to "force" the connection, or should I rather discuss this with my mobile network provider?
Thanks for any help
P.S. I tried the usual stuff like reboot and eject sim and put it back, I even switched from ART back to Dalvik, The phone is running latest avaliable KitKat and is not rooted.

You didn't mention whether you checked the APN settings. My guess is that because you purchased a locked AT&T device and then unlocked it, you don't have an APN setup for your European provider. APN will be in Settings -> More -> Mobile Networks ->Access Point Names. If you go in there and either there is nothing listed or it's not the APN your mobile provider recommends, you will need to manually create the proper APN. I'm sure a quick Google Search for your provider's APN settings on Android will get you the answer.

I knew I was missing something important "Copied" the APN settings from old phone and it worked like charm. Thanks a lot
Interesting thing is that on that old Samsung, I tried new ROM every month or so and never had this problem. The phone just "knew" what to do. Guess these are the perks of unlocked devices, right?

Glad that worked. Correct, Custom ROM's often self-provision based on a database of Carrier/APN's.

This is probably because T-mob covers only particular places the frequencies this phone uses http://theunlockr.com/2013/07/05/htc-one-sprint-specs/ vs t-mob https://t-mobile.jive-mobile.com/#jive-document?content=/api/core/v2/documents/4988

Is there any solution for this problem ?
Is there anything I can do to fix this problem ? (different rom or radio...etc..) Or I have to give up the phone... Cause it is too much headache to "searching for network" all the time and miss all the call with no service on the phone without knowing..
Thanks

well, I am not an expert on the tmobiles network, but going by what lazybozz, said, I seem to remember tmobile using different bands than the other carriers, so what you may be experiencing, is the phone being in the vicinity of multiple towers, but not all of them are within the band that the phone supports. So its like the phone doesnt even see those towers. On a side note, this issue caused alot of chaos for those who unlocked iphones about 3 years ago, they could use EDGE on tmobiles network but not 3G, so i assume this is a similar situation. So long story short, yeah you probably cant fix the problem, unless you get a quad band phone. I could be wrong, but it does sound like a logical reason for the issue you are having.
as elvisypi said above, Its the freq that T-mobile operates on in that area. If your getting T-mobile at all in the states then you have already flashed a radio. However flashing any other radio is not going to give you the freq that tmobile uses, Its not a software limitation its a physical hardware limitation.
Thanks for your reply, do you know any app out there that monitor and alarm you when the network or signal is lost ? That works with 4.3 ?That way at least you know the phone is offline ... some of the apps I tried is anything at all ...
Thanks
Have you tried an app like tasker? Its essentially an automation app. It isnt jist for your use. Its for many different functions. Jist look on the app store for tasker. That might help
