I have my chromecast on my samsung TV. But I can't really play GTA or any games because of a small amount of lag. Any ideas or ways to get around?

Buy a Nexus player? No but the issue might reside in the limitation of chromcast only using a 2.4ghz network instead of 5 GHz which might reduce the lag

I play emulators on mine every day one mine and they work great. I mainly use SuperGNES and Mupen64. I've heard there are PS1 emulators and Game cube/GBA that also work. I'll try GTA on mine later.
You need to sideload the games to it using EFS but its really easy to do. Also PS4 controllers do work from what I've seen. You can head over the the Nexus Player forum to see more because I haven't checked recently.

When I try to cast my N6 onto my Chromecast, I just get a green screen. My whole tv screen just turns green, the only way to fix it is to disconnect my phone.
Only happens if my was to screen cast, but everything else works (Youtube, Netflix, Hulu, etc.)

OK so I've been really busy with finals coning up next week, but I tested GTA San Andreas and it works great on my Nexus Player. I used the controller from the play store and it functions perfectly. You can install it directly without needing to sideload it. Just goto the play store in chrome and hit install then choose Nexus Player.
Here are some pictures of it on my TV:

Yes this happens on every ROM I have used so far except the stock one. I've tried: Pure Shamu, Validis, Slim, Franken AOSP, and a couple of others.

It should after all its android. I don't have a PS3 so I can't test it. Other members have tried it and said it works if you check the Nexus Player forums.

I found out that screen casting does work now on Validus ROM. I just tried it.
Screen casting also works on slim as that was the first non stock that fixed the green screen... That is mandatory for me as I use Kodi all the time .... What used to be xbmc

Hi, this is not a new app, i use it since my XperiaPlay days. Think it's the best one of it's kind and if you like playing emulators like i do you will enjoy it too. Maybe most people already have this but for those who are new to the Android Retro Stuff this app will help you to download every game from NES to MaMe.
Btw. shouldn't be any kind of warez or so because this app is not available on the Play Store for some years now!
Ps1 version?
Oh and for everyone who loves playing Arcade Games here's a MaMe 0139 torrent, you will only need a torrent downloader app. All roms are working with Mame4droid Reloaded.

I just got ados emulator from the play store and got some games from bestoldgames.net

Okay, so I've done a fair amount of looking around and since I was unable to come up with any information on how to do this, it's likely not possible. First thing, I admit I have yet to receive my promotional Gear VR from purchasing a Galaxy S7 Edge on a pre-order. I have just been trying to figure out what the VR is capable of doing. In particular I've been trying to figure out if it was possible to play games like Walking War Robots or Modern Combat 5 with the Gear VR. Had anybody had any luck with playing any NON-VR games with their Gear VR? I understand that it would be quite unlikely to have the software render these games in true 3D, but I'm more-or-less trying to find a way to play a standard game in a split screen view so it just looks like a large screen in front of my face. I don't think it would be too hard to take the original video output of a game and double it up in split screen for it to be used like this, but I'm no programmer, and wouldn't know where to begin. I would use my phone with an MHL adapter but I've been told it isn't compatible, but that's for another forum topic. If anyone has any info on any of this I'd appreciate it if you could get back to me. If this hasn't been done yet, but is possible, some developer could potentially make a lot of money making an app that would split the video output of a standard game. Thanks in advance to anyone who has any info on doing this.
Yes i'm also interested in this post. When you can only play normal non-vr games in 2D It's enough.
Holy word-wrap Batman. Sorry, your post was very hard to read without spaces but I will read slowly and try again (not to be jerk but it was honestly hard to read).
Okay, so you CAN play non-VR games with the Gear VR but it involves a few different things.
First off, you need a decent PC and a good bandwidth connection to stream to the phone.
Second, there are softwares out there that will turn your games into 3D - the most inclusive one is TrinusVR <---very easy to use, the harder one is Tridef 3D but the results are nicer graphically.
Third, it becomes hard to control with the Gear VR, so it really depends on what the game is and what support there is.
If you have Stream Theatre via the SideloadVR App, try that out. You need Steam on your computer as well. Pair that up with head-tracking such as FacetrackNoIR or Opentrack, you should be set

Thanks for this answer but I think we mean play non-vr android games or apps from our phone on the gear vr. So Normal apps which are already on the phone. When it's only 2D it's enough. Sort of second screen in front of your face. For example I've PlayStation remote app on my phone so when I can start that one up with the gear vr I can play my PlayStation

^Ah I completely misunderstood, sorry! But here is the question, most games use touch, how would you play without the touch if the gear vr is on your face?
I know some games allow controllers but I don't think we can do anything for that yet.
And yes, we can play steam games with Gear VR! !!

Yes, that would be very cool if there was a way but if you think about it from a technical perspective, you are changing the game resolution on the phone to split into two screens vs. streaming content which is easier to split into Side-by-side.
I will still keep hope, though! I know there is a way to play Android games on your phone...lol that would be too complicated:
Android -> to PC->stream back to phone in 3D

Also not for an S6 apparently. Supports something like 11 devices.
This is how
I have been playing emulator games in VR since yesterday (legend of dragoon, ff9), and even watched a little vr porn.
You need to get PACKAGE DISABLER PRO. It does cost $1.95, but its more than worth it. I registered just to post this so i cant link yet
Disable gear vr service, then you can do whatever you want in VR. This requires no root. Also apps that work with cardboard can work with hear vr. So in my case epsxe emulator has cardboard support, which means gear vr Support
Thank me later like drake

Seems you missed the point of my original post. I realize I can port PC games to my phone for VR use, but I want to play games that are meant for android on my gear in the original format, just split screen for the image of a large screen directly in front of me. And what we're you talking about word-wrap? There's clearly a space between all of my words. Shall I double space for you next time?

My apologies for misunderstanding, that native SBS app seems worthy but have not tried it with a rooted device yet. As for your word-space issue, I did not see any paragraphs so the sentences were hard to read. Good luck.

OK, I think I figured it out. the reason my download did not work because I download those games yesterday on the 19th, I uninstalled and reinstalled the promotion started today the 20th. Just uninstall and reinstall your Samsung freebies will be given out after you completed the tutorial the gift will show up. I got 2000 gems and a bunch of goodies for the game HIT, i love this game its awesome!
I still don't see a list specifically for note 7 in the Galaxy app store.

I tried Need For Speed No Limits and haven't got anything unless i haven't played far enough or some how missed it.
Hope this helps somehow.

Same with me I got Hit, Olympus Rising, and Nonstop Knight working with freebies but not Vainglory, Need for Speed No Limits, or Asphalt 8: Airborne. I wonder if its because I played those games before and google just pulled up my old saved game and that caused the Samsung freebies not to work?

HOW? I prefer google because they have a lot of support, and a lot of helpful features. Plus, they won't lose support for gapps as apps such as blackmarket can quickly lose support
