Hey I found a possible solution for the memory management problem that exists in moto g 2014.. I'm not rooted to I couldn't test it myself.. So can anybody test this solution and confirm that it works or not?

I am rooted in KitKat and tried the app. Apps still close and ram left always stays above 220-230. Its like I have not bought a phone with 1gb but 768 mb ram.

Do all the Moto G 2014 units suffer this or just a few? I am still in the middle of deciding which backup phone to buy.
Would appreciate further feedback.
Thanks.

Its not an issue if you don't multitask. It may be if you like to switch between different apps.

All 2nd gen phones have this problem. If you don't have too many apps installed that runs in the background or if you don't multi task, it may not be a problem for you.
Okay I tried the app and put the settings to aggressive and I can confirm that it works. Also, I don't think it's placebo

It wasn't working for me. Can you try to open multiple apps and see if free ram ever goes below 100 mb
Sent from my XT1068 using XDA Free mobile app
Yeah well earlier the RAM never used to go below 200mb, but now it reaches the lower 100s,110-120. So I'd say that's an improvement

Please can you try opening a browser and then open up your camera and click one or two pics and then go back to your browser and see whether it reloads or not?

Me to but Motorola should take full responsibility and tell us what is going on with g2
Almost there
I used it for some hours.... it really improved multitasking, less launcher redraws and less app killing. But it isn't a miracle, sorry to say.
Before Moto G 2, I had a Moto G 1, and it has better memory magement.
And before that, I had a Razr D1 (Motorola 1Gb ram, single core, Jelly bean) and it was even better for multitasking....
Really disappointed here.... I wont recommend Moto G anymore,,,,
I came from galaxy s2 and I'm disappointed with multitasking. I will wait for lolipop update but if nothing will change I will sell that phone and buy Lumia because I'm tired to flash custom roms.

gs. I am loving my Moto X running 4.4.2 except that recently the YouTube app has started causing huge drops in battery life. This is the latest app for YouTube as well. I've been force closing it to try and curb the drain, but it's still pretty annoying. I've also cleared data and reinstalled updates to the app to no effect. Advice?

On and off Wi-Fi and yes to the Chromecast.
Try unplugging all your Chromecast active on your Wi-Fi network and use your device normally after a full charge.
I suspect Chromecast keeps the YouTube app running in the background when you're done casting videos. I have no evidence though.

In the past I always rooted my phone to install a slimmer rom and remove bloat, but with the X I've not needed to do that. I honestly have not felt the need to root and I'm looking for a solution that sees my phone's OS operating as it should that doesn't require rooting.

I'm not sure, cause I'm rooted...and I've many times had to convert you tube to a user app in order to greenify it.....so you may not be able to even do it unrooted if you tube is a system app on your phone....but greenify will work on unrooted phones now, wont it? I don't know the limitations with it tho unrooted.
But yeah, if that won't work...not sure what an unrooted phone can do about it....especially if its a system app.

Hi all,
Proud owner of OPO here and I am trying to find a camera app that supports this. Any help?
Thanks guys!
Does that take several pictures then combine them into one picture, like a multi-exposure shot from a film camera? If so, that would be neat. Unfortunately I have not heard of a camera app that will do it, but I would be interested in finding one too.

I think the camera need direct access to the hardware for this to work fast enough. Android camera api isn't really fast enough. This will come with L were all third party will have the access that the oem has created for them self today.

That sounds hilarious, sorry. As far as I saw, the only options for talking were in the extended options of language and input in settings. I'll dig around and see if I can find something. I'll definitely want it disabled myself.
I noticed this today at the worst possible time in a middle of a meeting. Can't find an option to turn it off.
Went through there as well ,unless I'm not checking something correctly... could you check your calculator app and tell me if your having the same problem?

Did you give any app pemissions in accessibility. If you did read this image i attached. When you give some apps permission Samsung has some issues sometimes with the voice kicking on but Samsung actually had a work around built right into the phone.
Have recreated your problem just do the work around which the phone does for you.

This is how I shut off mine. Under Accessibility if you have anything under Services, turn them off. I had Greenify on and it made my calculator talk, but once I shut it off, calculator stopped talking. Hope it helps.
Found this page with people having same issue. Seems like tmobile and att is the pattern. Tmobile here. Greenify not installed. Double checked all my settings too.

You have to click on the settings button thats below whatever app you would have given permission look at my pic i posted you will see the settings listed at the bottom but since you say you didn't do that then there is no workaround. Did you turn on a app you didn't necessarily had to do it in accessibility some apps will just do it automatically. Can you tell me what apps you may have installed that help with battery or after market lockscreen just anything you can think of

NOTE 4
On my phone, it was caused by activating Greenify in the accessibility settings. When I did that, I got a popup telling me that my default language didn't match TTS. It offered me options of canceling, going to settings, or enabling TalkBack. So, for some reason, activating Greenify activates TalkBack. Voila. Talking calculator.
Recently I started to use AICP as it seems to be the most stable for Verizon at the moment. The lack of the stock camera app kind of bugged me and I get that almost all roms will change the camera app. Some people hate the stock app others adore it and others got used to it. I have the apk for the stock app right here and it had been working flawlessly on my xt1575.
I will be uploading mirrors later tonight in case my Dropbox link isn't working
Sorry for the long wait but I'm finally back with a new mirror!!!! https://Bit.ly/1SQgll2
I take no credit for anything I just found the apk
This is not a flashable zip I can make one later if it's needed
This has not been tested on a xt1572 device. Either varient.
Feel free to test for me
If this works for you feel free to leave a comment and a thumbs. Or don't I don't care ?

That one is ported from the moto g so I'm not positive if anything was changed although I'm pretty sure that the moto x style/pure camera app is the only camera app with the front flash as an option. Seeing as the moto g does not have a front flash it wouldn't make sense for the moto g to have that as option hence there may be a difference. This one came straight from the moto x pure and will most likely work on both varients of moto x styles in every rom. Hope this answers your question!

The Moto G version has the front-facing flash as well so i think that is taken from the X Pure also. It also has the advanced ladybug control activated and both camera and app are installable apks. The app also just got updated a few days back so it is the latest one.

Is this the same as smart manager? I dont have anything in my battery settings that does anything.
This is a different type of setting it looks like. That's not a hibernation. Not sure when it does, optimizing the apps . But new settings are always welcome
