Just use freeze option on titanium backup pro (or any other).
Go to App Manager>All Apps>Kindle Special Offers. Press and select Freeze. That's all!
That's a good clean(ish) way of doing it if you ever want them back for whatever reason.
I myself prefer the renaming method, plus if you do a factory reset after renaming the dtcp_apk.apk you get rid of the Offers tab on the Home screen as it never gets installed again otherwise it stays there but brings up a small toast notification saying it can't run if you tap it.
I tried the first method but it didn't work for me... This one did!

Hmm... Strange that it wouldn't work, but go with whatever works best for you, at least there's multiple methods to disable them
Doesnt work for me either. I even deleted the apk accidently and I still get ads
It randomly downloads and resets all my screens and set up. What is causing this?
Thanks
Try going to settings/apps/sprint id/force stop
I would factory reset it and try it all again.
The next time you get the notification, long press it in your drop down, click app info. When the sprint id screen comes up, uncheck notifications in the upper right corner. I never installed the sprint id, that's where all the bloat comes from.

I had the same issue. Here's how I stopped it while also preventing it from using up background resources.
Open up Settings->Apps
Swipe over to "ALL"
Find "Sprint Installer"
Disable it
Never be prompted by it again
This is what I did too.. .was annoyed like anything when it wiped off my screensaver and all the apps I put n homescreens
All good now

I tried this and upon restart, the message returned. In Running Apps, Sprint ID lists Sprint Installer as a service being used, and I assume this is how this Default Config continues to be presented to me. I can stop Sprint ID as well, but it all goes back into service upon restart. Any other ideas?

Ok so this is weird as hell, and i've already called HTC about this and they provided a little bit of help.
First, this is my first official Android handset (Why the hell did I wait so long omg?) after kicking Apple to the curb, so I am still learning all the tricks and shortcuts, but I have a fairly good knowledge as to how the OS works now.
My Issue is I am unable to install 3rd party apps. I have the APK downloaded, I have the option in settings to allow 3rd party apps to install, and when I try to install it takes me to the install screen showing me what the app will have access to, and has cancel and install at the bottom. Cancel works, as well as show info, but the install button does nothing. I've tried from the download section, as well as ASTRO File Manager.
HTC Mention double checking to make sure third party app install is enabled (I can't even get to the install screen otherwise so it obviously is) and they mentioned to do a soft-restart by holding down the power button until it completely reboots.
Here is the kicker, after doing the soft-restart for the first time, I was able to install the Humble Indie Bundle Beta App. Worked perfectly fine. But now that I have downloaded the games from that App, I am back to the same issue before where I can't install the APK's and the soft-restart isn't fixing the issue.
I've goggled the crap out of this and haven't come across really anything like this, except some mention that AT&T Blocks third party apps, but it looks like that was on older HTC phones, and since I was able to install 1 third party app, I don't think that's the case. Any help would be appreciated!
*********** TLR SOLUTION ************
If you can't install 3rd party apps, after having checked the option in settings, remove the "Google Settings" app, and then run your installs. If you are using a new install for the first time, pick Android Installer and not Verify and Install to avoid issues. Scumbag Google.
Re-install Google Settings at your own risk afterwards.

Google recently installed a new "installer" package from the store. I think it was called "verify and install". Anyway, the first time I tried to install from the Amazon store, it asked me which installer to use - Android or the new google installer. I chose the second program (always). After that my programs would not install. I had to remove that program and then the next time I made sure that I selected the default Android installer.
I don't know where the new installer came from. I didn't ask for it to be installed.
Anyway, check your apps list and see if that is installed.

Just searched all apps installed for both install and verify. There is nothing under verify, and install comes up with Certificate Installer DemoFloPackage Installer and Package Installer, all with android icon's, so they appear to be default stuff. I'll definitely keep looking though, thank you for the tip!
Edit: Your suggestion game me the idea to see if there was another installer application on the appstore that might work. I tried Easy Installer and it still just installs using the regular (or I suppose default) installer, which leads me back to the same problem =(
Do you have any apps like Lux Autobrightness or screen filter running or similar? If you do, that is your culprit. Those apps act as an overlay to your screen (that's how they adjust brightness) and as a security feature the install button is disabled when an overlay app is being used to prevent an overlay app from being able to hit the install button. It works after a reboot because the app has not yet started running.

I do have twilight installed (Like F.Lux) but it looks like stevedebi's original assessment was correct. The app is "Google Settings" attached is a screen cap of the culprit.
I unlocked my bootloader to install cynogenmod (decided against it) and when I went to re-install all the apps, the "Android Installer" and "Verify and Install" option came up, and once I saw the icon was the same as google settings, I opened it up and there was the verify options down at the bottom.

Thank you for this info! Completely forgot about this and was getting frustrated when the install button wasn't working..
I tried the whole "deleting the screen filter" app thing. It works momentarily after I "soft" reset my phone, but only for one install.
Every time, I have to reset my phone, so something else is in the way.
My phone is not rooted, if that helps at all. And it's an AT&T galaxy s2.
After install apps on nexus 6 like go weather i dont see the widgets.i see the widget only if restart my phone.Has anyone the same problem?

Same here; have to reboot to see a newly installed app's widget(s). Will a soft reboot achieve results?

Soft boot should achieve it as well as a power down and restart.
As I remember it's always been like that, not a bug per se. Installing an app that has widgets needs a reboot to see them in the widget menu.
I am screwing with widgets, especially Zooper, all the time I guess I've never seen this issue because I run Apex or Nova.

I use GNow exclusively as well. since right now I'm stock and unmodded, then it would be a 5.1 issue to me ... but let's clarify, one installs an app, and you then go to the widget listings, and you see it? I've seen some that do get included right away, and some I have to reboot to then get to to place on a homescreen.

will try that next time, good tip ...
So...took the plunge and got a Nexus 6. Seems like a great phone.
Got it home, grabbed the OTAs, unlocked the bootloader and rooted using CF's root .bat (found in the all in one post).
Now I'm having issues and I can't see where they're coming from.
Started, I think, after I added email accounts to the gmail app. I will be using the phone and it will soft reboot (boot animation, but thankfully I have renamed that awful AT&T boot animation, then lock screen).
Installed the latest TWRP and cleared the cache, following another post's recommendation, but that hasn't helped.
Aside from returning to stock and exchanging the phone (which I very well may do, but I'll go to a busier store to do it) does anyone have any ideas? I'm completely stock, using Nova Prime aside from the recovery and rooting (still encrypted).
Box says this is 2014-12-21 manufacture date, green dot on the box.

Take a nandroid backup in TWRP then do a "factory reset" (just a standard one, not one that does all the partitions) and run it with no apps or extra settings set. See if it still does it.
Wish it wouldn't auto-download those AT&T apps, but I will give that a try. Updating the Play Store apps now. I skipped the backup, mostly because I haven't done enough on the phone to need it (set up Nova Prime and my email, then had the issues and I went to bed).

I have not done anything with the kernel at all.
Apps that I had installed when issues started (or rather when I noticed them):
Facebook
Facebook Messenger (I'm not sure, but this one may have been the last one installed before the issues started; I don't remember a reboot prior to installing this)
Nova Launcher / Nova Prime
Widget Locker (wanted a separate lockscreen wallpaper, but there may be a better way to do this)
Weather Underground (the last in a series of weather apps)
Tesla Unread Plugin (which I wish worked with things like Handcent or Textra, though it may...I haven't tested)
Root Explorer
That's it.
I saw some people pointing to the stock SMS and or Hangouts apps and disabled both, but to no avail.
So far after the factory reset, everything seems ok. I'm not sure if one of the above mentioned apps is the cause of the issues, though.

The FB app is very buggy , its best to FaceBook within a browser rather then using the app.

That's unfortunate...
Side note, after performing the factory reset within TWRP it seems to be working ok now. Haven't had a reboot (also haven't used it much).
Going to reinstall Nova and see if my good luck continues.
I can live without the Facebook app if I need to (you'd think they'd get their act together, but I'm pretty sure that Facebook on my computer causes a massive memory leak too).
As a note, though, none of the reboots happened within Facebook. They mostly happened within Gmail, actually, though some happened in the Nova Settings too.
I have all those apps you have and never have random reboots.

Hm...
Well, everything seems ok right now with just Nova. Going to wait a bit before I download other apps, though. Textra or some other type of app where I can customize notification sounds is a must (I prefer to have a different sound when my wife texts me vs random text messages). Not sure on email client, though. I've used K-9 in the past, but the new Gmail may be the one I go with for now.
So far I have reinstalled everything except for Widget Locker and the 2 Facebook apps. So far so good.
I noticed when browsing lockscreen apps that Widget Locker hasn't been updated in almost 2 years...that's unfortunate.
Tried another lock screen app that was nice, and would have worked, but it stretched the wallpaper I wanted to use (picture of one of my kids) to the point where it was pixelated...that alone made me uninstall it, even though it had everything else I wanted...

No, it was Hi Locker that I used.
AcDisplay is on my list to try, though. It keeps coming up on the lists of the top lockscreen apps.
Edit: There doesn't seem to be a way to use a separate image for the lockscreen...Black background or homescreen wallpaper is all I could find. If it's there, I'd love to know where.
