Bootloop after backup - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Been using the Toolkit 1.9.8 to root and unlock my att nexus 6. Seemed to work fine and have been running well for the past few days, however after a backup attempt (nandroid) the phone is stuck in a boot loop (spinning dots). Any tips to help me get it unstuck? I've rebooted into recovery and wiped the caches. I did successfully create a backup before it started looping so I'm trying to restore from that at the moment.

I just went and did a Nandroid too after running a few days fine after having unlocked and rooted. Now on my first boot I cant get the OS to load, stuck at the spinning dots splash screen too. I left it for about 20 minutes just to make absolutely sure it was stuck. I thought maybe it had to re-compile things or something with ART. IDK, it was a theory anyway. It seemed stuck for sure so I held down all buttons to force a turn off. I then booted into TWRP and restored my nandroid I just made, which I know shouldnt make a difference cause it is the same thing and I didnt wipe anything before anyway, just made a backup. Anyway, I restored the nandroid and tried to boot and it worked fine. Odd, but worth a try for you.

Stuck at the Nexus One Google Screen! Help!

I was using KangORama and loving it but decided to give Rodriguezstyle a chance. I had done a nandroid backup and flashed the Rodgriguezstyle ROM. I didn't particularly care for it so I went into recovery and tried to do a nandroid restore. It went through the motions and got to "as is" then froze. For at least 15 minutes. I had to remove the battery and now when I reboot, it stays on the Google colored "X" screen. What do I do to fix this??
I rebooted into recovery and reflashed Rodriguezstlye (only ROM I had on sd card) and the phone is back. I'll move back to Kang-O-Rama now. Why would nandroid backup cause this?

Help restoring with Nandroid after a bad .zip update

I tried to flash a theme update from zip in recovery mode and it messed something up royally. Now when I boot the phone it shows the HTC logo then just goes black and never comes back. I made a Nandroid back up right before I flashed and it said it completed it successfully, but when I go to recovery (volume down + power button) and select nand restore, it says its restoring and then restoring complete but when I reboot it still goes to the black screen. What do i need to do differently? I have never had to restore until now.
I'm on Fresh 2.3.3
Try wiping all data and dalvik and then restoring the nandroid.

Do adb logcat. It might actually be booting without a bootscreen.

Can you walk me through that? Sorry I haven't ever heard of it.
EDIT: Ok I let it run for a while and it eventually boots up but the boot screens/sounds never show or play. So I completely wiped the phone and reflashed Fresh 2.3.3... still no boot screens or sounds! I don't know what I could have messed up that complete wipe/flash doesnt get rid of. Any ideas? Also now Titanium is saying that it cant get root access because my phones not rooted properly. What tha?
Bump... Still having this issue. The phone is usable but the boot images and sounds are gone
nobody has mentioned this but maybe you just have a bad Nandroid. maybe something did not copy right or something in the phone internally got deleted during the backup/restore process. i saw on android forums somewhere it happened to some person using an Eris. Cant quite remember how he got it fixed but he ended up fixing it somehow.

Well I thought it might be a bad nandroid too, so I just wiped the phone and flashed fresh without ever restoring the backup and it still has no boot images or sounds. It's the strangest thing. When I flashed the first time to 2.3.3 the re were definately boot images and I flashed from the same file this time.
You might have to just use the RUU and start over from scratch, I had to do that once and it sucked.

Is it hosed?

I have an old Bionic that I play around with and decided to try using a CM build. Everything looks good, and when I rebooted after install (using SafeStrap/TWRP) it shows a Motorola logo and the screen goes blank. So the screen is on, but nothing is happening. Due to the steps taken, I believe the SS Recovery was erased. I go through the normal recovery steps, but it eventually boots to the blank screen and not into SS Recovery. I did do a backup beforehand, but can't get to SS Recovery. Any ideas? Thanks
Ok, I used RSDLite to reflash it. Whew!

Looking for a TWRP complete backup. (32-bit)

Me being me, I uninstalled an important app with "NoBloat" by accident and forgot to make a backup of my system files before booting. My home button stopped working but the back and window button would work. I couldn't get to my home screen. I restarted my phone and it got stuck into a boot loop and will not boot. I don't believe I have a way of fixing this without the backups, so I'm just looking for a complete factory reset for the phone. RUU didn't work as well. I have installed TWRP and flashed SuperSU onto the phone and that's it. Thanks in advance!

Stuck on boot after TWRP restore

Hey,
I actually have a Note 10 plus, rooted with magisk and TWRP, but the Note10 and S10 are very similar, so Ill ask here too (ive waited like 15 hours and got no help in the note 10+ sub).
I have done a full nandroid backup. I restore it with TWRP, and I get stuck on boot, the note 10 screen (not samsung screen), and it never boots. If i restore only data, i get a bootloop.
I wipe dalvik and cache. No difference.
The backup IS NOT corrupted. I tried multiple backups and all is the same
What am I supposed to do? Im completely lost, and found literally nothing from google or here. Also if I flash firmware with odin after the restore, it will boot, but I lose all data, and eevrything. So thats not gonna work.
This is unbelievable and hasnt happened to me when i was doing this last time a few years ago.
I havent had access to my phone in over a day because of this now, its a complete disaster.
Please help. Thanks in advance guys.

I'm not sure, but maybe the nandroid backup isn't compatible with your device.
The thing is that these new phones have a different partition scheme. As you're rooted, you normaly boot on the recovery partition. But when you flash that backup image, maybe it doesn't take into account that partition setting, and that's what messes up your phone.
This is only a small hypothesis, but it can definitely explain your problem. As I've never done any backup myself, I'm not sure about this solution, but maybe try restoring the data on another device, then transfer it on your N10 with USB for example

I am experiencing the same issue.
Device: Tab S 10.5
I am tring to restore a Backup made with TWRP. the restore ends without any error, and when I reboot into System, it stays on Splash Boot forever!!
I though about a corrupted Backup, so went with Fresh Start install + TWRP + Root, then Backup TWRP.
Same issue, stuck on Splash Boot forever!!!
I even tried to unRoot just after the restore, it do not change anything!!!
I also noted that when the Device boot, there is a brif "double vibration", maybe notifying something is wrong.
