Nexus 6 64Gb only showing 23Gb free space? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I individually flashed stock 5.0 Nexus 6 image to my N6 and rooted with CF autocrat and now I noticed it shows only 23GB in storage? What happened or how can I fix this issue? I just re downloaded everything so I hate that I may have to wipe again...

Common problem with the Nexus 5, too. Here's some info on fixing it...

They mentioned it in the toolkit thread. Factory reset should take care of it, may be an issue with using the 32 vs 64GB ROM.

Its a problem with the userdata you can erase user data from fastboot.

I fixed it by formatting user data and cache through fast boot. This was after individually flashing factory images.

Yes there is just use fastboot format cache, and then fast boot flash cache (the second one is redundant but it won't hurt) if that doesn't work you may have to format userdata

Ok, I wiped the cache using TWRP. Is this what you mean by "fastboot format cache"? How do I "fast boot flash cache" or "format userdata"? And this won't erase my data?

Yes the format data will wipe your user data. You use fastboot while plugged into your PC just like normal. There may be another way to fix this I haven't tried yet.

This happened to me I had to lock the phone back put it in Stock recovery and do a factory reset. It was a pain in the ass I had to call Google support and they said it has happened to a couple of people.

Same here can any one help '....i don't know wats fast boot...(nexus noob )can i just wipe data from twrp ??

It is a good tutorial on how to flash stock ROM. That was how I got my space back. Erasing user data did not work for me.

has anyone figured out a straight forward fix to this?
my friend just flashed my nexus 6 64gb from 5.0.1 to 5.1 Benzo custom ROM. Now its having issues, for available memory its only saying theres 23gb. It looks like theres a lot of confusion over whats going on and how to fix it.
How can i fix my phone??? Please help

This happened to me as well. I fixed it by performing a factory reset from inside the android settings. (Not recovery, not fastboot)
Settings>Backup & reset>Factory data reset
This should do it.

I can confirm as well a factory reset did it for me as well. Went from 23gb to 54gb

i957 I randomly myself into a bootloop ?!

Hiiii first post here but anyways,
I have a SGH-I957 ATT LTE version and had filled the hard drive space to maximum... about like 70ish megabytes remaining (I know, stupid). It was running slow and it wouldn't delete full stacks of files for some reason so I restarted it and it got stuck in a bootloop. I've tried booting to recovery and rebooting again and I don't really want to factory wipe.
Any suggestions?? Please help lol
Try clearing cache and dalvik. If that fails clear data factory reset. If that fails odin back to stock

[Q] How do I wipe everything but recovery?

I messed up my WiFi somehow and a factory reset doesn't fix it.
Is there anyway to wipe absolutely everything but my recovery and a ROM/Gapps to flash?

[Q] Installing CM9 on X8 (require guide)

Hello and sorry if I asked this on the wrong section.I just made this account hours ago.
Anyway...
I have successfully installed MiniCM9 but unfortunately I have "No Service" problem.
I searched through the web and find out that it might be sim lock or something.
I used "msm7227_semc" to unlock my bootloader so that probably the problem.
So I reset my phone with Sony PC Companion.
I want to reinstall CM9 but It might happen again.
So can someone please guide me through the installation and give me link for file I need because I have no idea if I'm using the right file.
Thank you.

I believe it's on the 1st post of the rom and kernel (the steps).
Here's the short version:
1. Go to recovery
2. Full wipe, cache, etc
3. Flash correct kernel
4. Format system cache data
5. Flash rom
Why ics though?

Nexus 6 factory reset

I am running JDX 3.0.4 preview 3. Running the latest twrp. How would I erase everything on the phone ? Because when i usually flash a new rom i do a factory reset and wipe and everything. But all my pictures and data are still there.

factoey reset doesnt touch your storage. it deletes all your installwd apps and data from the rom, thats all. if you want to wipe your storage, you can do that as well, but whats the point if all you are doing is flashing roms? plus, google backs up your settings data and wallpaper.

In TWRP use Wipe>Format Data. Read the warning then type in "yes". Are you selling N6?

No, I'm actually giving it to a family member. Will use my nexus 5 for the time being though. Hate to give it up though. One of the best phones I've had

Always stuck at Formatting cache

Hello everyone.
Lately I had this frustrating problem with formatting the cache through any recovery I ever had. ALWAYS!
How flashing a ROM goes:
- I'm powering off the phone and enter in recovery.
- I select Wipe Data/Cache (Or Wipe for a new ROM option in CWM)
- It starts by formatting data and next is cache, where I get stuck.
I don't have many options. I can either pull out the battery or wait a while. Oh, no worries, after 5 minutes of "formatting cache" it reboots, with the current ROM messed, obviously.
It's annoying because no one seems to have this problem and it happens every single time when I wipe.
Hope there is someone who will bother helping me out with this.
P.S. - I'm no expert, more like a noob, so don't ask me too-technical questions.
Thankiees!
switch to latest TWRP
flash stock om once with odin
wipe data and cache with stock recovery once
then install latest TWRP
that fixed it for me when i had that issue
