I feel it's getting a bit old, EVERY single time google releases a new nexus / a new version of android , people say that this version of android will be much more battery efficient and that the cpu/gpu will be much more efficient too, hello nexus 4? the snapdragon 4 runs circles around the TI OMAP 4460 which was ****,I don't know what samsung and google were thinking when they decided to use, well yeah i know , they were thinking on LTE, but the difference is regarding performance, the battery improvements went practically unnoticeable even though the nexus 4 hat a 2200 mah battery vs the 1750 mAh battery on the galaxy nexus , and the battery life on the galaxy nexus was worse than on the nexus s .... so what makes you guys think it' going to be different this time? I'm pretty convinced the battery life on the nexus 5 will be mediocre too, though i would love to eat my words, hey at least we can charge the phone considerably faster this time thanks to the quick charge feature :highfive:
What a wasteman! You really think its appropriate to open a new thread to have a rant about battery life on Nexus devices. Plonker.

I heard the Nexus 5 will not come with a battery.
There, no need for this thread anymore.

Wait a minute, just a second, you are saying there no VGA on the Nexus 5? WTF? I am going to stick with my AiPhone 5S.

Hey everyone, Ive had a note 2 for 2 years now and samsung honestly has a lot of bloatware, also the phone is really slow now that even the youtube app would take 3-5 seconds to open. Which phone do u think is better and did anyone have the experience of their nexus 5 or 4 getting a lot slower in a matter of a year or two?? Thanks

I ditched my Note 2 Wed night for the Note 4 Developer Edition on VZW. If you are on VZW or ATT and you don't get a develop edition it may be a long time (if ever) for root and/or bootloader unlocking. If tweaking the device is important that will play a huge factor. As for lag...I am running a debloated rom (no knox or bloatware) and I froze S-voice...there is zero lag now, but you need root to do that.
I was down to either the Nexus 6 or N4 DE...whichever one I could buy first. I am not a fanboy of either as both have good and bad points and I am sure I would have been happy with either. My favorite thing about android is that if there is something I don't like or a feature I want, there is almost always a way to make it happen (assuming you have root and an unlocked bootloader). Hope this helps.
My short input: Hardware is better on the Note 4. Software better on the Nexus 6.
I chose the Nexus because I wanted to experience Stock Android. But I believe the Note is a better phone overall.

I had the Note 3 before I upgraded to the Nexus 6. In my opinion the Nexus 6 is beast & fast as all hell! I mean this thing is so fast out of the box without need to use a custom rom or anything like that. I never used the stylus so that's never been any issue for me when deciding to upgrade my device. Also the front facing speakers & the screen clarity is seriously AWESOME!
I haven't used a phone in years where I didn't feel the need to alter it to make it perform as I thought it should. I did root mine because I love using Titanium Backup and certain apps like that. I woudn't go back to my Note 3 for anything after using this! I don't recall being so happy overall with a device!!!
PS: I also feel that you will not notice much of a differance between the Note 2 & 4 but upgrading to the Nexus 6 will be a very new experiance you will enjoy!!!

Thanks everyone!
I bought nexus 6 and my sister bought note 4. My sister loves her note 4 and I am returning my nexus 6. Only Note series has right features for big screen. Nexus 6 is not very pleasant in use.
But it all comes down to what you need must. My sister doesn't care about software upgrades so it's a perfect phone her.
There reason I am returning my nexus 6 because of some issues. Battery life is meh. Its just big. And no led? Really I need to root to get it? That's just stupid. There is always cloud app fc. I mean come on brand new phone and a fc. It has no advantage over any other latest phone except the OS (that too experience some lag).
After using nexus 4 and then nexus 5. I am going back to my one plus one. Half Price and better performance then nexus 6.
Just to answer your question, if Samsung keeps their word go with international or developer edition note 4.

So i ended up getting the note 4, is there any way to get rid of all the bloatware and make the software just like the nexus phones? Have the roots came out yet?
Should've bought the nexus 6. Smh...
Although the Note 4 is ready to hold in the hand, the Nexus 6 is better in my opinion because there is no TouchWiz installed on it

Thats its only advantage tho, a lot of ppl say the battery life is not so good, my note 2 still has more battery life than some new phones.

Think that's a question for the note 4 forum...no one in the nexus 6 forum will have this issue.[emoji41]

Ok I am about to get a new phone here next week. I want the nexus 6 or note 4. I come to yall to ask for some input since yall the nexus 6 already. How has yalls experience been with nexus 6? Thank you in advance
Considering you're on the Nexus 6 forum, most will probably recommend Nexus 6. It really depends on what's most important to you. The Note 4 has better battery life, easier one hand operation, a nifty stylus and it takes better pictures. The Nexus 6 has a better UI, better build quality, the quickest Android updates and a more rabid developer fanbase if you're into that sort of thing. The only downside to N6 ownership so far is actually ordering and receiving the device. I really only have positive things to say about the phone itself, its fast, lasts all day and feels great in hand.
You could always spend some time and read the 277 page thread debating the Note 4 vs Nexus 6. Lol

I would rather ask owners of the phone themselves. I know all the specs and features of both phones. I am a flash-aholic so I am leaning towards the nexus 6 because it has a ton of development over the note 4. The S pen and stuff Is cool. But will I every really use it. Thanks for your input.
Man its a lot to read on on this topic and a lot posted best advice I would say is search the forum to the top items need on your phone...
Great phone but if on Verizon you cannot talk and data so long call surfing web, FB, etc out...until Advance Call 1.0 (read on it)
If Veriozn not all can get LTE
Xposed - Love it for the hacks and Panda hacks but can't use it
Issues with sound for some speaker pop but can be other dev not modified for N6 yet but Google Music does work OK
Those are for me none may fit you but you need look at what you use most in a phone and search that to see N6 will work for you or go with Note 4...as business man I need voice/data together but a Verizon issue...read on it.

I am on att but like I said development is a biggie for me. I was just wondering about problems with nexus 6. I have looked at the nexus forums and saw some stuff that bothered me. But it seems like it is mostly with Verizon. I think nexus it is for me.
Here you go.
Nexus 6 ordered and on the way. Yes

I'd stick with the Nexus 5 for a stock phone and the Note 4 if you want a big phone. I think there are performance issues with the Nexus 6. Whether or not it is because of Lollipop I don't know. I just know my Nexus 5 felt faster.

Pretty sure software updates will fix all the problems with the nexus 6. Note 4 development Sucks they have like 6 roms.

I thought that way with Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. IMO, from my past experiences; you will see some improvements with new updates but nothing major. I prefer note 4 because it has less issue comparing to Nexus 6. I had no choice but to return it. Again IMO, don't crucify me.

Not at all everyone has their own preferences. I was on the fence but I am a flash-aholic so the nexus development sold me. Plus I really liked the build quality of the nexus 6. It feels real solid. The note 4 looks great to but it feels like it a delicate flower. S pen I would probably never use. Camera I hardly ever use. The one thing that I will miss is multi tasking. But I will get over it. Thanks for your input.
Dont want to start an argument over android vs IOS.
i have a note 4 and a iphone 6 plus.
i'm not really into ios but i have to give it to apple with their battery life with the iphone 6 plus.
This phone gives me 11-12+ hour ON SCREEN TIME. without turning anything off or doing any tweaks.
i was curious about this and went over to an iphone forum like XDA, only to find out that guys with a few tweaks are able to get 16hrs, 19hrs, even 21hrs ON SCREEN TIME.
whats holding our note to have such great battery life since it even have a bigger battery than i phone 6 plus.
Unfortunately, this post is the definition of starting an argument; and it's one that will never end. Hopefully a mod will close this, but before they do, I'll say my Note 4 kicks the snot of my old iPhone 6's battery, and that's even with more stuff running on the Note.
What's an iPhone?
Because the Note 4 actually works does more.
Thread Closed because this will turn into a flame-fest fast.
Hi Friends,
My note 2 is dying and I have decided to switch to new phone.
Could you please suggest recent good ones?
I was thinking of Nexus 6
Any opinions?
New Moto X. Considering selling my Nexus for one.
I did the exact same thing just last week. Really loved my Note 2 and it was a hard decision to give it up.
Positives:
- Higher res screen
- Noticeably faster processor and more RAM
- Lollipop which is really nice
- Easy to root/unlock boot loader
- Lots of devs
- Wireless charging and Quickcharge
- Ambient display is really handy
Negatives:
- No user replaceable battery
- No micro SD card
- Not as good battery life when screen is on
- Camera not as responsive
No buyers remorse yet.
I also had a Note 2 (with Paranoid on it) before the Nexus 6. And yes, the battery life is not as good with screen on, but standby time is actually better.
2 samsung phones before getting the N6. Great phone. If you do any rooting and custom ROM's, this is the best one to get.
Thought I'd miss the ext SD...but after having it for 3 month...not at all. Great battery life and all features work well.
Also - Amazon has some great deals on the N6. I suggest the 64 GB version for max storage. And get an unlocked one, not one of the carrier bloated ones
Do it. I've had the note 2, 3 and 4 and temporarily had the 32 GB nexus 6. I returned the nexus 6 because I got it from best buy for 600 and luckily enough for me, this deal popped up with the 64 GB model. I'm still keeping my note 3 with ZeroLemon for emergency times when I heavy use and need my battery to last me a day or 2. But whether you choose the blue whale or Moby ****, you'll be pleased with the nexus 6. Just find a good kernel tweak to manage the hotness

Went from note 2 last year to oneplus one loved it until I started having issues (aftermarket replacement parts) so figured instead of having a near nexus phone I'd try the n6. Love it, from the note 2 to the nexus 6 is a huuuuuge upgrade. Loved my oneplus but the n6 wins hands down
