Hey everyone, Ive had a note 2 for 2 years now and samsung honestly has a lot of bloatware, also the phone is really slow now that even the youtube app would take 3-5 seconds to open. Which phone do u think is better and did anyone have the experience of their nexus 5 or 4 getting a lot slower in a matter of a year or two?? Thanks

I ditched my Note 2 Wed night for the Note 4 Developer Edition on VZW. If you are on VZW or ATT and you don't get a develop edition it may be a long time (if ever) for root and/or bootloader unlocking. If tweaking the device is important that will play a huge factor. As for lag...I am running a debloated rom (no knox or bloatware) and I froze S-voice...there is zero lag now, but you need root to do that.
I was down to either the Nexus 6 or N4 DE...whichever one I could buy first. I am not a fanboy of either as both have good and bad points and I am sure I would have been happy with either. My favorite thing about android is that if there is something I don't like or a feature I want, there is almost always a way to make it happen (assuming you have root and an unlocked bootloader). Hope this helps.
My short input: Hardware is better on the Note 4. Software better on the Nexus 6.
I chose the Nexus because I wanted to experience Stock Android. But I believe the Note is a better phone overall.

I had the Note 3 before I upgraded to the Nexus 6. In my opinion the Nexus 6 is beast & fast as all hell! I mean this thing is so fast out of the box without need to use a custom rom or anything like that. I never used the stylus so that's never been any issue for me when deciding to upgrade my device. Also the front facing speakers & the screen clarity is seriously AWESOME!
I haven't used a phone in years where I didn't feel the need to alter it to make it perform as I thought it should. I did root mine because I love using Titanium Backup and certain apps like that. I woudn't go back to my Note 3 for anything after using this! I don't recall being so happy overall with a device!!!
PS: I also feel that you will not notice much of a differance between the Note 2 & 4 but upgrading to the Nexus 6 will be a very new experiance you will enjoy!!!

Thanks everyone!
I bought nexus 6 and my sister bought note 4. My sister loves her note 4 and I am returning my nexus 6. Only Note series has right features for big screen. Nexus 6 is not very pleasant in use.
But it all comes down to what you need must. My sister doesn't care about software upgrades so it's a perfect phone her.
There reason I am returning my nexus 6 because of some issues. Battery life is meh. Its just big. And no led? Really I need to root to get it? That's just stupid. There is always cloud app fc. I mean come on brand new phone and a fc. It has no advantage over any other latest phone except the OS (that too experience some lag).
After using nexus 4 and then nexus 5. I am going back to my one plus one. Half Price and better performance then nexus 6.
Just to answer your question, if Samsung keeps their word go with international or developer edition note 4.

Ok I am about to get a new phone here next week. I want the nexus 6 or note 4. I come to yall to ask for some input since yall the nexus 6 already. How has yalls experience been with nexus 6? Thank you in advance
Considering you're on the Nexus 6 forum, most will probably recommend Nexus 6. It really depends on what's most important to you. The Note 4 has better battery life, easier one hand operation, a nifty stylus and it takes better pictures. The Nexus 6 has a better UI, better build quality, the quickest Android updates and a more rabid developer fanbase if you're into that sort of thing. The only downside to N6 ownership so far is actually ordering and receiving the device. I really only have positive things to say about the phone itself, its fast, lasts all day and feels great in hand.
You could always spend some time and read the 277 page thread debating the Note 4 vs Nexus 6. Lol

I would rather ask owners of the phone themselves. I know all the specs and features of both phones. I am a flash-aholic so I am leaning towards the nexus 6 because it has a ton of development over the note 4. The S pen and stuff Is cool. But will I every really use it. Thanks for your input.
Man its a lot to read on on this topic and a lot posted best advice I would say is search the forum to the top items need on your phone...
Great phone but if on Verizon you cannot talk and data so long call surfing web, FB, etc out...until Advance Call 1.0 (read on it)
If Veriozn not all can get LTE
Xposed - Love it for the hacks and Panda hacks but can't use it
Issues with sound for some speaker pop but can be other dev not modified for N6 yet but Google Music does work OK
Those are for me none may fit you but you need look at what you use most in a phone and search that to see N6 will work for you or go with Note 4...as business man I need voice/data together but a Verizon issue...read on it.

I'd stick with the Nexus 5 for a stock phone and the Note 4 if you want a big phone. I think there are performance issues with the Nexus 6. Whether or not it is because of Lollipop I don't know. I just know my Nexus 5 felt faster.

I thought that way with Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. IMO, from my past experiences; you will see some improvements with new updates but nothing major. I prefer note 4 because it has less issue comparing to Nexus 6. I had no choice but to return it. Again IMO, don't crucify me.

Not at all everyone has their own preferences. I was on the fence but I am a flash-aholic so the nexus development sold me. Plus I really liked the build quality of the nexus 6. It feels real solid. The note 4 looks great to but it feels like it a delicate flower. S pen I would probably never use. Camera I hardly ever use. The one thing that I will miss is multi tasking. But I will get over it. Thanks for your input.
Nexus 6 is $749.99 and Note 4 is $799.99 (I live in Canada so prices are different)
$50 dollars is not that much, and i'd gladly pay a little more for a better phone, if the Note 4 is better, if not than i'll just save $50 and get the Nexus 6.
Help me please! Thanks
i had both i like pure android dont with all the add ons from samsung but both devices are nice imo note 4 seems to take a better picture
What is the price difference between the Nexus 6 and Note 4 in the US? If it is like, over $100 then I might just get the Note 4 because of the better Canadian deal
note 4 $720
nexus $648
thats from sprint i dont know what you have

Thanks, not much of a difference in the Note 4 and Nexus 6 gap for us Canadians, only about $20 dollars so that probably won't change what phone I want.
wait for s6 or other upcoming phones
I've decided to get the Nexus 6 because I already have the Note 3 and the Note 4 really isn't that much of an upgrade for me, and I like to change things up a bit after using Touchwiz for a couple of years i've decided to try out the pure Android experience
yea i had note 3 then went to note 4 didnt see much upgrade so got nexus 6 i love it also a lot more development
Believe it or not I actually liked TW. Except for the lag that it has. Loved the camera. But now with 5.0 I really like stock android. Between the two phones I would hands down get the nexus 6 again. Rootable, unlockable boot loader seals the deal for me.

There is no "better" phone. Different strokes for different folks as they say. Get your hands on one of each if you can, and see which you like better.
I could afford both but I didnt want the note 4 for the following reasons.
1) Samsung - Not a fan of how they handled warranty on the S3
2) Touchwiz -although better now, still a resource hog
3) Samsung - Closed Source for many HAL's etc, making AOSP very difficult and buggy
4) S-Pen - although pretty cool, paying for something I wont use much...
5) Although technically better screen, wanted slightly bigger.

That's funny...I'm getting pretty sick of waiting for a Lollipop update that's probably going to be almost identical to what I'm already running and and I've never hit near 8 hours SOT. Want to trade lol?
Note 4 is awesome, but I think you'll be singing a different tune in 2016 when the Note is three updates behind.

True, it will be dated, but Nexus phones age much better. The Nexus 5 is still a damn decent phone and gets plenty of support. There are days when I miss it vs. the Note. (Battery isn't great though in comparison.)
My point is that given their track record, if Lollipop is taking this long on the latest and greatest Note, imagine how long updates are going to take when they care even less a couple Android point releases down the line.
And I get 4.5-6 on a good day with the Note, and I'm actually pretty happy with that all things considered. The idle time is phenomenal as well. Three days of light use is not unusual for me.

If you want Lollipop flash it there are a bunch of good AOSP ROMS.
The key differences is the screen and the camera. Both are better on the Note 4.
As far as support goes if you root your phone support will last a long time, my Note 2 is already on AOSP Lollipop 5.0.2
As long as the phone has root, don't pick a phone based on software, you can flash whatever you want on it, pick a phone based on hardware.

I'm reluctant to try AOSP. I owned a Note 2, and CM was buggy as hell.
if your only purpose of switching is SOT let me tell you , you'll be quite disappointed.
You have a lot of people posting 8-9hrs of SOT but not matter what I try what rom i try what kernel i try there's no such thing happening for me.
You literally have to just have the phone on, with screen on without any timeout, doing absolutely nothing.

I personally would go with the note 4, i had the nexus 6 and wasn't impressed by it one bit, had a couple cool features but not compared to this. However, updates will be way faster on the nexus then on this...but the screen on note 4 in my opinion is way superior, i had to keep the brightness at like 85 percent to be able to see everything good, on here, i keep it at 25. Both fast though!
It took them a bit of time to work out all the bugs on CM on the Note2 but once they did it was WAY better than the stick ROM. CM11 on my Note 2 is the best it had ever run. WAY better than TW, better battery, and much faster.

To be honest, the only 3 reasons I went with the N4 were 1) the camera (now not so sure), 2) expandable storage through SD card (I could've just picked up the 64GB N6 and be ok) and 3) the pen.
P.S. @PunishedSnake Please refrain from the click-baiting thread names - clearly state what your question is in as much detail as possible in the subject of the thread to avoid members to have to click on it to find out what it's about.
The Note 4 is hands down better than the Nexus 6 when it comes to HARDWARE. Better camera, better screen, better battery life, IR blaster (remote control), comfortable to hold in hand, removable battery, expandable storage, etc. The only reason I would get the Nexus 6 is because of official support by Google as far as stock Android is concerned. Also the Note 4 will have a better resale value than the Nexus 6 if you decide to sell it. If you ever feel the need for a Nexus like experience with the Note 4 you can always root it to be more Nexus like.
I'd go ahead and return the nexus 6. And get the note 4.
I gave my nexus 6 to my mom.

I'm personally torn.
Having had both, and ultimately sticking w/ the Note 4 only because I still have a Nexus 5 to play around with, I'm just not in love with the Note 4. It's the first phone in the Note series I've owned, and while I enjoy the multi-view and S-Pen capabilities the best, both features are negated when running a non-TouchWiz ROM. Of course, that's to be expected, and not necessarily deal breakers, but I'm indifferent as to how long I'll stick around w/ the device.
To be fair, I should note that I was one of those who got a phone out of the "bad batch" w/ the camera issues, and didn't return it w/i 14 day window nor submit for RMA. Again, for what I personally use the phone for, even that isn't a deal breaker. And to be honest, the Lollipop based ROM I'm running now does hum like a butterfly and have NO complaints about battery life.
Depending on what's on the horizon in a few months, I may utilize the JUMP program or sell outright. Nice phone, for sure, but I think coming from a Nexus, I may be a bit underwhelmed. IMO, if you've come from TouchWiz, or are looking at the camera specs, go w/ the Note 4 and you won't be disappointed.
I currently have a Note 4 on Verizon and I'm thinking of giving it to my daughter and getting the Nexus 6. As you know Verizon tries to lock down anything they can and the developers are having a hard time rooting the note. Much less unlocking the bootloader. I got the note because I thought I would use the pen feature a lot. But I rarely ever use it and I ready miss having root and am going though rom flashing withdraws. Anyway, I guess my question is has anybody else switch from the Note 4 and regretted it?
Thanks
Some people prefer the Note 4 and some prefer the Nexus 6. That will always be the case. Presumably you know the differences between the phones and you also know what you want, so really - asking this question of other people isn't going to help you.

I've had the Note 2, Note 3, and then the Note 4, which I returned after 2 days and got the Droid Turbo....which is now sitting in my desk drawer because I couldn't deal with the lack of Root. Picked up the Nexus last week and haven't been happier with a phone. Love the device. The Turbo is now my emergency backup phone if needed. I was using the Pen often but not often enough to worry about it, and I still have my Note Pro 12.2 if I REALLY needed to write something on (Digital) Paper.

I have both and the only things I miss on the note 4 are:
External SD card support
battery life/ removable battery
Camera
That said I knew all that would happen before buying the nexus but bought it anyway because its awesome.

At this point, if you are willing to wait a few months, rumors have it that the next gen Nexus will be announced (August timeframe). Worst case scenario, it announced and you don't like it best case, the Nexus 6 goes down in price. I didn't own a note but I do enjoy my Nexus - unlocking the boot loader and loading the latest factory images is very easy so you can always be on the latest and greatest. I don't think I will ever go back to anything but a Nexus unless it becomes unavailable.

There`s zero lag on the N6 mate, its firmware is trimmed down to the essentials so no bloatware whatsoever. Its the best device i ever owned and next to that i wouldn`t get back to a smaller screensized phone like the upcoming Nexus 5 (2015) tbh Maybe the next Huawei Nexus 6 (2015) will be interesting too, but atm these are still unconfirmed rumors.

It's the lag on this phone that drives me nuts. It feels like an eternity waiting to open some apps. It is actually slower at opening things like chrome than my old G2 was. Granted that phone was rooted with custom ROM and all but still.

If you like Vanilla android this is the phone to get atm because its fast, snappy, has good speakers and display and it doesnt feel bulky in the hand Besides that i`m done with Samsung, they are way overpriced and still loaded with bloatware.

I have the nexus 9 tablet and like the vanilla android. That is also way smoother than the note. I know one is a tablet and one is a phone but it is still leaps and bounds smoother.
