Hello
I am still confused about flashing firmwares. I am S-OFF, but I read all the time about people bricking their phones when updating firmware. So here is my question.
My bootloader says HBOOT-1.44.0000 and RADIO-4A.21.3263.04.
Is it safe to flash for example 6.09.401.10 firmware with 1.57.0000 HBOOT? I am using international version of the phone.
Thank you.

It depends on the firmware .. some firmware are pulled from an OTA and are not as complete as a firmware pulled from a RUU.
to be safe the recommend route is to flash all the firmwares up to the current one, so if you are on 1.x.401.x now you would need to flash 2.x /3.x/4.x/5.x before continuing to the 6.x.401.x firmware.
Their is a shortcut - you could flash a 3.x/4.x RUU followed by the 5.x and 6.x firmware's

my htcone is soff(by revone) and unlock(by htcdev)
now I have some questions:
1.if I update firmware to 2.24.401.1(hboot1.54),can I Reverting to S-ON and Lock the device use revone?
2.if I update firmware to 2.24.401.1(hboot1.54),can I downgrade Hboot by flashing a 4.1.2 RUU?
3.is there any change/deferent between 2.24.401.1 and 1.29 firmware when I use a 4.2.2 rom?
With the s-off you can do all what do you want
even with S-off after I updated hboot to 1.54 I couldn't flash an RUU with a 1.44 hboot. I got mainver error.
The way to get around this is to manually flash the downgraded Hboot then run the RUU.
You can also it seem flash the 2.17 firmware zip found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023&page=500
and that will allow you to flash a downgraded RUU.
Related question, when browsing the different threads in the One Android Development forums I've come across the specific instructions to install the latest 2.24.709.1 ver firmware multiple times but never thought about doing the upgrade at the time. Now that I want to do it, I've been scouring the threads for those instructions and cannot find them, go figure. Can anyone point me out to one of those helpful links? Thanks
I just switched my phone to S-OFF, that's a requirement, right?
I was just going to flash ARHD 3.1 GE which is 4.3 based.
Currently i'm unlocked/s-off (thanks to revone) with hboot 1.44 and RUU 1.29.401.16.
Do I even have to update firmware or does 1.29 based fw work with 4.3 correctly?
Basically i'm confused with these firmware packages: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823
Is flashing a 2.24.401.12 based firmware going to update hboot too? Does this one break touch in recoveries too?
Why the custom firmwares based on 2.17.401.1 RUU and why aren't there 2.24.401.12 based custom firmwares?
Hopefully someone can answer at least some of my questions
Thanks

Sounds like your a noob, so don't upgrade your hboot.

gee thanks, you answered everything
I want to keep hboot 1.44, so it's fairly a simple question whether the 2.24 based firmware updates hboot as well or not.
That is my main question.

That was so rude, even if he is a noob, I think he has the right to find information and in this case, ask for it.
To be honest, I would like the answer to this too.

Yes the firmware will update the hboot. It may also update your radio and other hidden partitions.
I would recommend having s-off if your looking to upgrade your firmware. If you don't s-off you have to find the firmware corresponding with your CID. Most of it the time you have to run a RUU to upgrade so back up. Lastly S-OFF only works on hboot 1.44 so if your looking to s-off in the past (assuming you haven't already) don't upgrade because there is no downgrade method yet.

Guys,
Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2316726
Read the guide, and flash the 3.06/2.17 combo file if you can (S-off helps). Will give you the great updated touch drivers, and the GE 3.06 firmware. Sneakyghost did an excellent job with this guide, it will really help you out!
And if i'm S-OFF and on 1.44 HBOOT. Does it worth me upgrading ? What will be the benefits of new firmware / hbott ?
Im already s-off on 1.44 using revone, so what would happen with s-off status if I were to flash the 3.06/2.17 firmware from snakyghost?
Would it remain s-off?
Also something caught my eye, is the hboot from snakyghost a modified version and would reverting to s-on while having it brick the device?

You will not lose s-off if you flash it just don't s-on with that firmware
Flashing firmware need not be a harrowing experience. As long as you read the guides carefully and follow the instructions to the letter, you will be fine. I have probably flashed at least 5-6 firmware packages on my One since getting it.
In general, once you're s-off, it's good to be on the most recent firmware because of various bug fixes like touch sensitivity. And, it would seem to be best to be on a matching firmware/rom base.
Once you start doing this stuff, however, forget about going back to s-on. You can do it if you're careful, but it's a bad idea. One mistake could leave you with a brick or crippled phone.
Again, to emphasize: Read very carefully, follow the instructions exactly, and you'll be safe.
Thank you Sirs
Usually i'd go and test things myself before asking, but in this case a wrong choice is not an option

Full Firmware is the signed firmware from the OTA
Modified has stock recovery and boot.img/kernel removed and requires you to be s-off.
Most folks that are s-off use the modified...if you go the Full route you will have to re-flash twrp and may have trouble booting if the kernel is not compatible with the rom you are running.
thanks think I got it now.
ok I got everything updated now I have no data when roaming all settings are right on phone and still no data on roam any ideas???

Hi guys,
I have soft bricked my device and currently the only way I see out of this is to flash RUU but then my version is way too high than the RUU available on the internet I've gone through. My current version is 4.20.707.7 but so far I've only found 1.29.707.3 the highest RUU version available on the internet.I have SuperCID but device is currently relocked and S-ON. I tried flashing other region's RUU which has higher version than mine believing the fact that I can flash it because I have SuperCID but I failed and received an error 155 which I searched and it means I'm using the wrong RUU. So I guess I can't flash other region's RUU and have to stick with my current region's.
Question:
1) Is it possible to flash the same version of RUU with the device?
2) Is it possible to flash other region's RUU if I have S-OFF? If yes, I only have access to fastboot and recovery and as far as I know, you only can S-OFF with a working homescreen, so how do I S-OFF while I only have access to fastboot and recovery?
If yes, does anyone have RUU for version 4.20.707.7 ( my current version ) or above?
If no, does anyone have RUU for version above 4.20.707.7?
Please help. Replies are much appreciated. Thank you And sorry for the tiny misleading information on the title. My current version is 4.20.707.7 not 4.20.707.6.

Yes, with s-on you can flash same or newer ruu version to your phone as long that it match your MID/CID + Firmware base (x.xx.707.x)
Yes you can flash other region RUU if s-off. You might need to change your CID and MID which can be done from fastboot (CID) and from recovery (MID). You can flash a close to stock rom like arhd to achieve s-off.
If yes, does anyone have RUU for version 4.20.707.7 ( my current version ) or above?

Many option for you.
You can restore the 4.20.707.7 version using the 4.20.707.7 stock reset rom (to be flashed in custom recovery)
You can flash the 7.21.707.5 ruu but in order to do that, your phone firmware must be at least 6.xx.707.x or 7.xx.707.x so it will requires to flash one of these firmware before the ruu.
Honestly I would simply flash the 4.20.707.7 reset rom, simple to do. When installing the rom, select "yes" to stock recovery and radio. Select "no" for root. when flashed, take all ota updates until you are on latest (7.21.707.5). From there you can flash a custom recovery and root if you want and returning back to stock from this point (if something else happen) will be as simple as flashing the 7.21.707.5 ruu.

Hey man, thanks for the useful information. I flashed the 4.20.707.7 reset ROM and did what you have told me but then the problem in the end is still the same as flashing other ROMs ( custom and stock ). The problem will be after unlocking the screen, green HTC logo appears and stays there for quite some time while dialer keeps crashing from time to time, and after few minutes, reboots by itself. This cycle will go on forever. Any advice ? Thanks again bro.

Looks like an hardware problem. Is your phone still having an IMEI # when doing "fastboot getvar all" ?
Hello guys,
I have problems with the mobile internet, and wifi connectivity. I noticed that the mobile internet, or wifi loses connection ("freezes"). It still shows that it is connected but nothing is happening when trying to load a page, I have to turn off and on the mobile net / wifi to get it working again.
I was guessing that I could update the radio if there's any update.
Some data about the phone:

The phone is not carrier locked and has superCID.
Can you please help, if there is an update for the Radio? I mostly found radios starting with 4A. ....

you should update your firmware. Hboot 1.57 means you are probably on a 6.xx.xxx.x firmware. Newer roms need 7.xx.xxx.x firmware.

not done properly as @alray said, 7xxxxx firmware comes with HBOOT 1.61 and your still on 1.57 which is KitKat firmware, and that's also the reason for your wifi issues, its a common problem running Lollipop roms on KitKat firmware.
flash the 7.19.401.2 firmware, don't forget to flash it twice, and then flash the 7.19.401.22 firmware, if you are s-on then you will need to relock the bootloader, if your s-off then no need to relock, you will then have to unlock the bootloader and reflash your custom recovery before trying to boot your phone, neither will wipe your phone.

Definitely, sorry my error. I mistyped the hboot. It is 1.61 not 1.57.
Firmware is 7.19.401.2
I guess I can try .22 firmware. Does is contain a newer radio? I'm S-off so won't be a big deal updating.
Thanks for the help.

I thinks its just a radio and recovery update if I remember correctly, always best to be on the latest firmware.
EDIT: just checked, its boot, radio and recovery update.
