Which recovery are you using? I recommend twrp. See here for installation instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2602188
After that you can try to install a new rom, following these instructions:

The problem is that my tab is not detecting by computer since it doesn't contain any OS. So, anyone please tell me how to transfer downloaded recovery tar file to my tab???

Did you install a custom recovery before trying to install your custom rom?
If you are able to boot into recovery, then you should be able to connect the tab to your computer and put files onto the tab. You should be able to do this even if there is no custom rom installed. Does odin not detect the tab if it's booted into recovery? If so, you might try pushing files with adb onto the tab. If adb doesn't recognize the tab, then you might need to reinstall the drivers on your computer and/or try with a different cable, if you can get hold of one. It might be helpful to describe in more detail what exactly you did and what is failing.

I did this once, I booted into download mode, flashed an original rom from Odin and then put the zip files from my PC and flashed them.

[Q] Flash Custom ROM with Odin?

Hi,
How could i flash Custom ROM with Odin..
Because
1. I am not able to go into recovery mode by holding Volume up+Volume Down+Power Buttons
2. I could not reboot into recovery mode using adb commands (stuck at at&t screen)
3. I could not reboot into recovery by flashing any kernel with CWM.. obviously i have to use volume up+Volume Down+Power Buttons again :-(
I am able to flash stock ROM through ODIN 1 click downloader (currently on I897UCKI2)..and its the only way i could flash a ROM now..
So is there a way to install custom rom through ODIN ?
Please help...
If you can get into download mode (power off, hold V+/V-, insert USB), you can try flashing a ROM via Heimdall. Apex 12.5 has a package you can flash from Heimdall.
You can also try Mosaic 9, as that has an Odin-based installer package.

Hey,
I'm using samsung galaxy star s5282. I rooted this phone 2 days ago. Everything went good until today when i was i my class it suddenly switched off. When i rebooted it, it hang on the samsung logo.
I tried to boot into cwm recovery mode by pressing v+, home, power but it boots into default system recovery mode.
I again flashed cwm recovery many times using odin but it dosent work. Odin shows pass but when i reboot my phone in cwm recovery mode my phone enters in default system recovery mode.
What should i do please please please help.....
Note many devices will replace your custom recovery automatically during first boot. To prevent this, use Google to find the proper key combo to enter recovery. After typing fastboot reboot, hold the key combo and boot to TWRP. Once TWRP is booted, TWRP will patch the stock ROM to prevent the stock ROM from replacing TWRP. If you don't follow this step, you will have to repeat the install.
applies to all recoveries
cheers

Surenda 1863,
I had exactly the same problem and it took me almost one week of fiiddling and searching the Web to solve it.
The solution was in front me since day ONE : install ODIN on the PC !
In my case, I had I had accidentally wiped out the stock ROM and the tablet was hopelessly frozen on the download mode. I couldn't turn it off to boot it back with any of the usual buttons ( Volume , Home, Power)
I made the wrong assumption that since my PC didn't see the tablet, it couldn't connect to Odin either . I was wrong!
Here is what you have to do:
1. Install Odin on your PC. Connect the tablet to it. You will see that Odin sees the tablet because there will be a caption saying "added" on the top left.
2. Press the AP tab button at the right to go to the location where your Stock ROM is. The stock ROM file will have an MD5 ending.
3 Once the file is loaded (next to the AP button) just press Start. You will see the DOWNLOAD bar gradually filling up on the tablet and at the top left of ODIN.
4. When the operation is terminated, you will see a caption " PASSED" at the top left of he Odin screen and the tablet will automatically boot up to the HOME screen.
As simple as this! I didn't even have to worry about flashing the TWRP ( or CWR) recovery system, probably because the OS ROM was already wiped out. May be your case is different. I only know that in my case it worked like a charm.

[Q] Mmaybe my phone is bricked...help

I rooted my phone with superoneclick, then followed the instructions on one website to install the jelly bean software,Tthe instructions are as follows-
DownloadXWKT7 Adrenaline ROM based Jelly Bean Firmware from here to your computer. After the download completes, connect your phone to the computer and copy the ROM zip file to the root folder on the phone's SD card.
After copying the ROM file, disconnect the phone from the computer and download the ROM Manager app from Google PLAY Store to flash the ClockworkMod (CWM) recovery image.
Once CWM recovery is flashed, choose Reboot into Recovery Mode in the ROM Manager app. Now, boot the phone into recovery mode using a button sequence. Press and hold the Menu Button and then tap the Power button to turn on the device. In case the device accidentally boots into normal mode, you need to repeat the above steps to enter recovery mode.
I did all, as were the instructions, I choose Reboot into Recovery Mode in the ROM Manager app.then, boot the phone into recovery mode using a button sequence. Press and held the Menu Button and then tap the Power button to turn on the device, but the device would not start up again, I even removed the battery and tried charging it, and it still did not work.It does not turn on at all...What can I do to overcome this problem?
Your device is bricked. You should have read the rooting guide before doing that. Never touch rom manager :/
Thank you...How can I overcome this problem?

Samsung service centre. If your device is in warranty, you are lucky. Do *not* tell them about rom manager or rooting. Just tell them that you were updating via kies and after update your device stopped working. If you are out of warranty, you might have to shell out a lot of money.
Thank you for your reply...I still have warranty, I will do as you advice...thanks again....
another head count for rom manager victim huh...
anyway care to give link to the site where u follow the instruction?
clearly the author is an idiot who doesn't even own an ace thus instructing other to use the famously dangeous rom manager.

For stock rom is about the same as unbricking. You can use that to go back to Android version 2.3.6
For flashing kernel/custom rom i would usually use ClockWorkMod Recovery

[Q] Help unbricking Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830

Hello everyone,
I've been using this community for a while, but this is my first post. One or two months ago I successfully rooted my Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 and installed Imaginary ICS Final along with CWM Recovery 5.0.2.6. Everything worked fine but today I decided to update to a 4.4 custom rom. I installed CM 11 from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2659269, but after selecting my language a popup apeared which said "The setup aplication has stopped working", so I looked for another ROM. I found this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2684893, but it required TWRP Recovery to be installed. I downloaded it, copied it to my SD and tried to install it form CWM 5.0.2.6.
Now, my phone goes into a blue screen whether I try to boot normally or into the recovery menu and I don't now how to solve it. Since I can boot into download mode, I've tried using Odin, but it doesn't recognize my phone. Can anyone help me, please? Thanks a lot in advance.
PS: I'm using Windows 8.1 x64.
EDIT: Now Odin recognizes it, but it gets stuck in "<1> setup connection...".
EDIT 2: I've solved it flashing through Odin with a PC running a clean installation of Windows 7.

You usually get the "setup connection" error when you are in the Emergency Download Mode instead of Download Mode. You go to Emergency Download Mode by holding down Volume Up + Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button in which it loads a screen that says "Emergency Download Mode" and you go to Download mode by holding down Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button in which it does load the correct download screen with the yellowish message that say "Downloading…". Please make sure you are going to the Download Mode. Then try to flash again. Do post the result. Hope I Helped

You're right, I was entering Emergency Download Mode (the one which says ARM9 mode). However, if I enter the normal download mode and plug my phone, Odin doesn't recognize it and Windows shows a message in the traybar which says "Can't recognize USB device".

Installing custom rom, on galaxy s gt-i9000, with a busted power button

Hi there i am relatively new to android modding and rooting etc. I recently tried to install Cyanogenmod to my phone and I succeeded, but the next day my phone began to restart itself, turns out that the power button is broken. We tried to repair it but ended up burning down the processors internal i/o (latch or whatever structure it has) with a faulty multimeter . Now i have to turn on my phone with a dock cable (with 1kohm res) which wakes up the phone, i can access the Download mode by plugging in the dock, and pressing home+down, but the recovery needs the power button signal too.
I can access the recovery by using adb commands, but i need to boot in. If i install a new recovery like CWM, i am stuck in a bootloop and i don't know if i can use the adb commands. Is there any other way to get into recovery mode, besides home+power+up, or adb commands?
Can i install CM onto the phone under these circumstances?
Thanks for any help given!
Not sure how you are going to select options in recovery as you need the power button unless you have Touch Recovery or TWRP recovery. Anyway use this app to boot to recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1423071

Well if i install a new recovery mod like clockworkmod then i'll be in one. That is why it is necessary to reboot in it so i can install the ROM.
Rather get your power button replaced.
