You don't use task managers in Android.
Just my point of view:

You don't need a task manager. The phone has enough ram and if you really must need a app to hibernate, look into using the greenify app.

I've just noticed particularly the Facebook app has really drained my battery if I let it run in the background

I can confirm these results. I uninstalled the app and just use mobile site. Try Greenify, it will work for this issue too.

Says the guy wanting to use task managers. Seriously, if the app is the issue why would you hunt for a work around? Get rid of the problem don't hide it.

I believe there is more to this than some of you are recognizing. I have a question. Go look in your battery menu and look at the apps using the most battery. Does it show each app keeping the mobile radio active? If so because i'm reading on reddit along with my personal experience. Google Play Store, Google Play Services, Facebook, Chrome, Play Music are doing that. No one seems to know why yet either. Tell me what you find out.

That's never been identified until lollipop, there's no way to know it's any different now than it ever has been.

Well its pretty obvious for me. Ive never seen these apps really sot at the top other than google play services for a gps wakelock. But these apps are inconsistently at the top but when they are, they keep the mobile radio active for hours when screen on time might be a 1/4 of that.
Well then. Try app called Battery Doctor. It will let you see what's draining your battery and let you selectively close the ones you want to.

Hey guy's. I've been having trouble with this app constantly force closing on me. Is anyone else having this issue? It happened on my note1 and now it's happening on my new note 3. Thanks in advance.

The last time I went to XDA through an app I used Tapatalk instead of XDA because I already use Tapatalk for all the other forums. I did buy the XDA app to support XDA, I just don't like keeping so many different apps all for forums. I found that the Tapatalk app doesn't crash when I browse on it, if you wanted to try that?
i've noticed that it crashes when you are giving to many inputs i.e. tapping too much. If you avoid this, the app works well.
There is also an issue of tap detection. when i try to reply to someone i have to tap on the post below the one desired. :/ but it doesnt crash the app... so thats a plus right?

Appreciate it. Yeah, I've never quite gotten used to Facebook, still keep forums I've been on for years.... Tapatalk is a really nice way to organize them all. The only thing that drives me nuts is that when you go to download a file off of a forum it opens a browser which kind of disrupts the flow, but I think XDA app did the same thing. That would be a tremendously useful thing for the XDA app to do is manage XDA downloads, but for all I know it does that now, I haven't used the XDA app in awhile. These ATT ROMs are around a gig sometime... Hell to download on a mobile phone just because so many things seem to be able to break the download. And the download managers seem to hiccup sometimes with the site that are primarily used for hosting, don't know why.
I bought the xda premium app a couple years ago to show my support. But it does suck on this phone. Doesn't show pictures corectly. The search function is not very helpful. When I open it if it's been in the the background for a while it won't connect to the server to refresh. I have to close it and open it again. Also when leaving the app the animation lags really bad. I always thought it ironic that the XDA app was so buggy lol
**side note- I don't know the first thing about making apps or how hard they are to debug and make run smoothly on all devices. So I'm not hating. Just throwing it out there...

My GE HTC One has been having horrible battery life the last few days. Android System and Mediaserver have been slaughtering my battery within an hour and i want to know why. My possible thoughts are
Snapchat +Keepchat xposed extension (it saves all snaps to your internal mem)
Or settings issue?
Im exhausted and was hoping someone could give me advice to wake up to and try out tomorrow.
(BTW, its not partial wakelocks (caused by apps) because i got an xposed app that lets you disable wakelocks per app, and i knocked out any indecent wakelocks).
All help will be thanked!!!

about all I can suggest is that you wipe everything and flash the rom with stock kernel.
add apps one at a time and you should be able to work out what's using your battery.
I quit using snapchat and keepchat, it helped alot.

So ive been doing some reading, and apparently android 4.4.2 (across all devices) has a bug causing 100% cpu and battery to be diverted to the camera once an app has opened it. Google is aware, and working on a update. Should restore things to the way they were normally
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Not all devices, just those where the camera uses a Qualcomm chipset, such as the Nexus 5.
Google releases software updates to the Nexus 5. They do not release updates to the HTC One, HTC does. Even for the GPE.

It's more likely that wakelocks are draining your battery.
Look for the thread titled "[GUIDE] The Total Newb's Guide to Wakelocks" in the AT&T S2 Skyrocket forum.

I can tell you that SwiftKey since they updated to the new free version it opens and runs Facebook in the background even if you don't have it set up to learn from Facebook. I thought this was very sketch of them and because of it I stopped using SwiftKey. I am also noticing Hangouts is running a lot more in the background that it used to. I use greenify to hibernate it but I have telephony notifications set up to push through so it'll bring it out of hibernation when I get a text. Hope this helps. If you're looking for a replacement for SwiftKey Fleksy is pretty good... It's not SwiftKey but it does a good job and has some cool features.

root your phone, install "wakelock detector", grant SU access, a take a look for a while. And check that process causes excessive battery consumption.:good:
Lately my battery has been worse after playing a game. I quit playing but it's still not good. Any ideas on how to fix. Also I don't know how to get rid of these wakelocks. Thanks

Also does battery life increase with the new updates on kit kat because I didn't update because I'm scared of losing root.

In my opinion 10 hours is pretty good flr moderate use, im not you though of course. Have you tried turning on auto brightness/using a brightness app/turning doen brightness, that may help, also fot wakelocks i believe greenify will help with that.

Lol, that was going to be my next suggestion. Try a different browser and see if the issue persists. What carrier, if I may ask?
Happens on my Nexus 7 all the time on Wikipedia pages. Not on my 6 though.
Do you have any adblock installed such as AdAway? Try disabling it, reboot device, and browse Chrome again.
Same?

Other browsers don't do it, just chrome freezes, I do have adaway, but in not willing to part with it, would rather use the outdated Firefox than reenable ads
