Guys, i have a persistent voice mail notification that says i have 5 new voice mails when in reality, i have none. I have already tried leaving a voice mail to myself then deleting, and modifying phone preferences.xml. Any ideas?

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this. I've got a dell streak 7 on a tMobile pay as you go plan that does NOT have SMS. When I try to send SMS with the built in messaging app I receive an error, PLUS I've confirmed with Tmobile that not only does this plan not HAVE messaging I can't add it either.
However... I'm CONSTANTLY getting text message notifications in my notification bar. I'm looking at nearly a dozen right now just since the last time I cleared them. Where are they coming from? Do I or do I NOT have SMS? Can I make these stop but shutting off SMS somehow? Without messing up my google voice?
Tahnks.
Your sms is coming from your Google voice acct. Go into your google voice acct and see if you can disable sms. Or on your Dell Streak go to setting, account & sync, select your Google voice acct and uncheck the mail sync option. this way will prevent you from receiving your Google mail also.
Now I use the SMS on my google voice...and the SMS messages I've received thru google voice are NOTHING to do with those thru the built in app. The google voice messages are messages I've sent and received, but the others are almost nonsense...... like spam email subjects sort of
Thanks.
Think I've found a bug with the Gnote.
I have 2 email accounts on my Gnote and have set different notification tones for each of them. I have downloaded the Zedge App and set another notification tone for my text messages......
Now, if I receive an email in my google mail account, I get a notification sound to let me know, followed seconds later by a notification to tell me I have a new text message!!!! I even get the "M" symbol appear in the notification bar at the top of the Gnote screen. Needless to say, I do not have any new text messages when this happens!!
I have tried all sorts to stop this by resetting notifications etc and starting again but I can replicate the problem by cleaning out my google mail account and sending myself another mail. The first new mail into the google mail account triggers the effect. I thought I had stopped the problem by turning off all email notifications but this was a false positive. Later in the evening I got a new text message notification, only to find out it was actually a new email in my google ail account again.
This is driving me bonkers as I am expecting an important text message at the mo.
Am I missing something in the settings, or is this a genuine fault?
I have AT&T with stock Froyo on my P990. I just again went through my voice mail and made sure I have no voice mail. But I still have this icon by the gmail and SMS notification bar that means I have new voice mail, but I don't!
So, if I get new voice mail, I won't know.
How to fix this? Thanks, lgnationrc
I have an annoying issue with my phone and don't know if it can be remedied or not. I am sure that others may have the same issue. If I miss a phone call and the person leaves a voicemail I get four different app notifications. The icons in the notification bar include: missed call icon, email icon with possible transcript of voicemail, text message with possible transcript of voicemail and finally, Google voice icon with transcript and voice recording. I use Handcent for texting, gmail for emails and Google voice for voicemails. I would like to keep Google voice as I like the transcript and voice recording available in one spot. Is there a way to selectively not receive notices for phone calls from specific apps?

i wont be of too much help here, but i can suggest turning notifications off for such things as a bootleg temp fix until you figure it out.
ive never used handscent so that may be it, or more likely an app for transcripting voicemails as that seems to be the common factor here.
Whenever I delete gmail messages through the notification panel, it makes the notification sound as if I'm receiving a new email. I can't figure out how to urn this off while still retaining notification sounds for incoming mail. Am I missing something?
Thanks
Do you have gmail set to confirm before deleting?
No. I doesn't ask for a confirmation, it vibrates a chimes as if I'm getting a new email.
Is nobody else experiencing this?
