Whenever I delete gmail messages through the notification panel, it makes the notification sound as if I'm receiving a new email. I can't figure out how to urn this off while still retaining notification sounds for incoming mail. Am I missing something?
Thanks
Do you have gmail set to confirm before deleting?
No. I doesn't ask for a confirmation, it vibrates a chimes as if I'm getting a new email.
Is nobody else experiencing this?

Anyone help ????
I have set my Hero Email app so that when I get and email, it informs me, and I can open, and read it, This is when I set the pop and smtp settings. But I also get another notification icon, which only lets me read the email, not reply to it, so I get two notifications.....
I only want the one from the email app, pop account, how do I cancel the other notification ????
Thanks all
Ian
That's a notification from the Gmail app.
It seems to me that either you're picking up your Gmail via POP in the Email app, or you use something other than Gmail for your email, but have set up a Gmail account which is also picking up your email via POP.
In either case, if you want to switch of notifications from Gmail, go into the Gmail app and then "Menu"->"Settings" and untick "Email Notifications" which will switch of the Gmail notification.

Dave
Thanks Dave,, thats just what I was hoping someone would say....

Hey Ian, I don't mean to hijack your thread, but my question is applicable here.
I am using the Gmail notification widget from the Market. When I get an email, the widget reflects the number of unread items. So, I no longer have a need for the notification in the taskbar. Problem is, there seems to be no way to disable the taskbar notification without disabling the sound and vibrate as well! (where is my "banging head against the wall" smilie?)
Anyone know how to resolve this. Handcent is the same way. Disable the taskbar notification and you lose your sound notification as well.
Think I've found a bug with the Gnote.
I have 2 email accounts on my Gnote and have set different notification tones for each of them. I have downloaded the Zedge App and set another notification tone for my text messages......
Now, if I receive an email in my google mail account, I get a notification sound to let me know, followed seconds later by a notification to tell me I have a new text message!!!! I even get the "M" symbol appear in the notification bar at the top of the Gnote screen. Needless to say, I do not have any new text messages when this happens!!
I have tried all sorts to stop this by resetting notifications etc and starting again but I can replicate the problem by cleaning out my google mail account and sending myself another mail. The first new mail into the google mail account triggers the effect. I thought I had stopped the problem by turning off all email notifications but this was a false positive. Later in the evening I got a new text message notification, only to find out it was actually a new email in my google ail account again.
This is driving me bonkers as I am expecting an important text message at the mo.
Am I missing something in the settings, or is this a genuine fault?
Is there a way to have a different Messages notification tone than the default notification tone?
Many thanks!
Same question! I can't even change sound notifications from gmail and google allo?
Same for Twitter lol
Having the same .. would like to have different sound notifications in gmail and messages. I seem to be able to do it in WhatsApp, but everywhere else it use system default sound
It is extremely extremely annoying. To solve this, I am using Textra instead of stock messages. You might like it and it has , of course, the option of changing the sound. I wouldnt even consider that a 2018 flagship doesnt have that option...

Click to collapse
You can change the notification sounds in Gmail. I have three email accounts setup in the Gmail app.
Goto:-
- Gmail settings
- General settings
- Manage notifications
- Click the text area that says 'Normal: Allow these notifications to make sounds' (not the button)
- Sound
Thanks, havent found that before

i'm ok with being an idiot, but i can't seem to figure out how to get my incoming texts to give me a buzz on either the phone or samsung watch.
allow all notifications
they're all allowed, google messages thing. i might have to reinstall i guess. i see the notification on my screen and watch, but definitely don't get a buzz or a blip sound
oh, maybe because i have messages for web syncd and open
nope
Do you get other notification sounds?
yes, i'd hate reinstall it....but it might be about that time
Do you use the default Google message app?
Did you set a custom notification sound for text messages?
