I'm rooted. How can I update to lollipop when it comes out? - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can i just update normally OTA?

No you have to be unrooted if you plan on updating to 5.0 lollipop o.t.a. no if you plan on just flashing a custom 5.0 lollipop rom that a developer made then all you need to do is just flash the rom.

Don't do OTA, it will screw your phone and you will have to flash stock rom.

No ota, you have to download a ftf you're self and flash it.

Yes.

How do you want to update to jb?
By flashing a custom rom or wait for official update?
I assume you're on with stock official rom and kernel without root and waiting for official update. In such case don't do anything. Official update may come as a OTA or Kies.
In case, you are on with custom rom, go back to stock rom following drketan posts, without root and wait for update.

Use Helium (Carbon) or titanium backup to backup your apps.
Settings are also saved?

make a backup atleast before you try if you are concerned
i went from the 4.1.2 tmobile branded to .67
it seems to have broken the tethering portion of settings (i didn't wipe data)
probably going to do a fresh flash to .67 before 4.3 or 4.4 comes out.
I think I will wait for the newer android update, I know there was a flashing method to keep your apps and settings. I got my backup so try it later when 4.3 or 4.4 is released.
Thanks for the quick replies!

4.4.2 OTA

I'm on a Dev edition xt1060 and I've had both the German and GB versions of 4.4.2 on my device at some point so currently my boot loader is version b3. Currently I'm on eclipse 3.1.2 so im on a 4.4 based rom. Is there any way I can get 4.4.2 Verizon on my device? Or do I need to wait for the full Verizon 4.4.2 sbf?
Sent from my XT1060 using xda app-developers app
Wait for the sbf.
OTAs have patch files that are meant to be applied to the old bootloader only.
Okay, thanks

I downloaded it from the play store and it's working fine. Did you flash the Odexed or Deodexed ROM?
Should work on odex Version of lollipop also.
