just got my nexus 6 yesterday and I am so happy to have one back on verizon. Anyways i am out of the loop a little here and was wondering. What file manager apps are you using on your nexus 6? Which would you prefer? Thoughts people?
Yeah, I am curious too. Need one with remote folder access, root access, and good material design ?
Root explorer>>>>>>>*

Root Browser is another good one
Using Root Explorer, it gets the job done and have been using the app for a very long time now without any problems.

Root explorer and es file explorer are my favorites.
Amaze file manager has all the materials..

Root explorer long time user. I've tried others but just prefer the straight forward layout and functionality of root explorer. It would be cool if they updated the look a little but functionality wins over looks when it comes to my file manager.
Solid Explorer
I have used ES File Explorer for a long time. Very highly rated and one of the most popular.
With File Explorers, there are quite a few very solid ones and most people swear by one of them...to me it's not important enough to test them all out and once I downloaded ES, I was happy enough to call it a day.
REALLY?! You opened two threads in the same forum asking the same EXACT question?

it was a mistake and apologies are in order. Didn't know i posted twice. had browser crash.
Cabinet Beta is pretty good and keeps the minimalistic flow present. I like it a lot
There's a whole thread on HoFo about how ES File Explorer talks back to Baidu. I have given up the free option and bought Root File Explorer. I am happier with the new app.
Root explorer is THE BEST. tried and true, always been good to me.
Either Root Explorer or Solid Explorer. Can't go wrong with either one.
Any file explorer with a nice material design yet?

I have just flashed to stock M7 coming from M5 Samset 19.f and i noticed that samset roms have no ads on the free apps im using, i was wondering how to be able to do this on a stock firmware?
Somewhere in the SamSet docs, I've read something about the HOSTS file and this file can control the IPs you allow in (if i correctly understood the definition of the hosts file).
Oh I'm gonna miss that tweak ...no manual work around?

Use an app called "AdFree". You need root for that.
Btw, could this thread should be moved into Q&A.

wow i didnt realize it was that easy and it works! Thank you!! much appreciated!
Wikipedia holds your answer:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_(file)
You can also use the hosts file that addfree uses on windows pcs... just pop the host file with no extension (so 'hosts' rather than 'hosts.txt') into your computer's /windows/system32/drivers/etc/ area and add free browsing everywhere!
Yeah good tweak!
WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU? YOU KNOW YOU ARE KILLING DEVELOPERS THIS WAY???
If everyone was blocking ads in free apps, there wouldn't be people willing to release apps for free...is that really what you want?
Ads are a way to indirectly pay developers for their time. Is the only viable way to do this and it's not a big hassle for users...it's just a little frame...come on!

I think there's no difference blocking the ads or never clicking the ads. If you don't like the ads and you never click them, you might just disable them.
The ads don't bother me so much, but I never either click them.

Well, I think some ads providers even pay for impression...
However you might as well click on those ads...it costs you 5 seconds per day tops, to help someone who lost days developing something and decided to release it for free anyway, hoping to get some money with ads...is that really so bad? It is the only way to have lots of free apps...if only people understood that and clicked on the banners as a sign of gratitude...

If you guys haven't tried Super Manager yet, it's hella awesome. Played with it for five minutes and ditched Root Explorer. And it's free.

I tried it but it wasn't for me. Looks like a really great app but I think it is trying to be too much. I don't really like these all in one apps, for example I never use task managers except for the one samsung includes. I don't like the auto killers and having to exclude apps I went for a run this morning with super manager installed and it kept killing Pandora. I know how to fix but that meant I had to stop and deal with it. Instead I held home, went to packages found Super Manager and uninstalled all while only slowing down to a jog. Super managers menus are a bit more unintuitive to do this with. I would recommend this app for anyone who uses task managers and task switchers as the built in switcher is pretty cool, reminds me of SBSettings. For me I will stick with SU File Manager and Browser, been using it since the G1 days.
edit: almost forgot to thank you for the recommendation, I love finding and playing with new apps even if I end up not keeping them it allows me to help other people I know that want an app like that. I have a friend who is going to love super manager I know

What he said! I tried it out too, and had a similar result. I think I would have been all over this one if I hadn't already found a suite of different apps that I use for the same things.
Keep 'em coming, though!
Thanks, I do like it, especially the super launcher part. Nice for android noobs like me. Good find.

I think I just really, really like the UI. lol. I hate task killers, and turn those features off unless needed for a bad app. I also run the hell out of Auto Killer, and Auto Run Killer. eliminates the need for manual memory or task management altogether.
does this app do have a donate version that can be downloaded for free? thnaks...
I didn't really like super manager I used ghost commander as my free equivalent to root explorer until I bought it in Amazon half off. Ghost commander is awesome. Try it out. u may like it u may not

I dont know man......
These file browsers are 'eye-candy' but are hardly useful.
I find ES file explorer the most practical file browser.....(and it works in ICS too):good:
Believe me....I have used it for about 2 years have not found a better substitute!

Cheers!
I was wondering if there was some way to get this to work on the One. It was on the EVO 3D and I'm not sure which other recent phones, but I really liked it, and it doesn't seem to be on the One anywhere surprisingly.
I have the EReader.apk and .odex files I pulled from the EVO 3D in hopes someone could find a way to make it into an installable .apk.
I would just root the phone and put it in the system>app folder, but I don't really want to root this one.
Anyone have any ideas?
I'm attaching both files, just in case someone can put them together and make them work.
Thanks in advance for any help.
I seriously don't understand why they would just remove the ebook reader altogether.

Have you managed to make it work? I just stumbled upon this thread from google. I'll try and push it into system/app and see what happens
I keep getting the this pop up when I unlock the device. As this is my first Samsung device, is this malware or just a part of the Samsung experience?
Thanks. :highfive:
I'm quite positive this isn't the Samsung experience as I own a samsung device and have a few in the house and have never seen that from my experience.
Looking at your home page I see you have ES file Explorer installed which is suppose to be infamous for adding loads of bloat to they free app. If I was to take an educated guess I would assume it's from that app. To check for malware use Samsung smart manager and then click device security. Don't know how efficient that actually is but it's built in to help protect your device.
Thanks for the reply firenation :highfive:
I've got ES explorer on a few devices and not came across this issue.
I think it could be either LED blinker lite or All in one gestures. I have no objections to ads if users use a free app. What I don't like is having no way of telling which app is causing this.
As soon as I find out which app, it's gone.
Yeah I have es file Explorer also and never had ads popping up the way they did on your device, but I remember reading it had a lot of bloat attached to it. Must be one of those free apps you have, hope you find it and remove it
I've just read on the play store that it is ES explorer causing this type of ad. Totally unacceptable in my book. :silly:
ES, you are gone!
Yes was thinking it might be es Explorer, enjoy your ad free tablet

Its this sort of thing that gives Android a bad name. I hope Google really come down hard on the owners of ES. For experienced users its bad enough but for novices, they could end up installing all sorts crap. :crying:

Android or shall we call it "Ad OS" gives itself a bad name. What other OS in the history of computing was based on an adware model? And the security vulnerabilities? Android is even worse than Windows!
The Emporer has no clothes, Android blows. However it's pretty much all we got so we live with it.

Exactly, the negative of Android. On the other hand we have some positives; XDA and the ability to side load old versions of apps before they got screwed up.
