[Q] Anyone connect to Windows XP (SP2)??? - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

I have not being able to connect the Turbo to much of anything, I have the paid versions of FoxFi and EasyTether and cannot connect to my Samsung Tablet, Acer Tablet via wifi or BT tether at all. Now to add insult to injury I cannot connect just simply as a USB device to my Windows XP laptop. The Turbo does connect to my Windows 7 desktop but that is 1 out of 4. If anyone is having better luck than me and is willing to share I would be most grateful.

Can you tether to an Asus Eee PC?

Just wondering if you can use the Kaiser's ICS to get on the internet with a tethered Asus Eee PC?
I'm due to pick one up to take abroad on Saturday (Eee PC) but it'll be about as much use as t1ts on a fish if i can't connect via my Kaiser to t'internet.
why not? Just install Wifirouter on the Kaiser. If you are going to convert it to WinXP, you could do that by BT and USB too
I was hoping ICS on the Kaiser would be workable as i've not got a copy of wmrouter and it looks like it's been pulled from here
I have the same problem. I've installed a lite version of XP, but can't install Activesync or any usb drivers for my Kaiser, therefore can't connect through my phone!
Any ideas? There is no bluetooth on these eee's, but there is wifi.

Using the td2 for an internet connection for a laptop

I'm trying to set my laptop up to use the td2 to get a connection to the internet. can this be done either via bluetooth wiFi or USB. I have tried to add a bluetooth network connection but the laptop keeps giving an error saying could not connect to the remote device.
When I plug mine into my laptop via USB, I get an option on the device to 'internet share'. Does this not happen for you? I'm not sure whether Windows Mobile Device Center is also needed, but it may be!
I did this today using a Macbook. The USB did not work on the Mac but Bluetooth did. I had to connect to the phone from the computer using ordinary bluetooth first (without network). Then I had to choose Internet Connection on the phone using Bluetooth PAN - which I assume is Bluetooth network. Also had to select Bluetooth PAN on Macbook - was a bit fiddly but it worked. Anyway it does work with USB on the PC see post 16 of the thread here.
cheers both, i will check out the other thread but when I connect the phone via USB to this (work) laptop, I get nothing. My home one uses Vista and Mobile Device Centre, but my work one uses XP.
typically, after a reboot the phone gives of the option to shart internet sharing but the laptop wants to install a rndis connection, but the only way to do this is connect to internet. ironic.
Ok, finally have a proper Interenet connection and downloaded Activesync 4.5 from MS. This looks like it will resolve the situation.

Bluetooth

Hi,
I just bought a Bluetooth dongle for my PC. (Trust Ultra Small Bluetooth 2.1 Usb Adapter 25 M)
The main reasons for buying this was so I could sync without using one of my very spare USB ports.
Another big reason was that I really want to try SideShow.
So, I hooked the thing up, installed it. Works like a charm for most services (files etc). It just doesn't work for two things: ActiveSync (on the phone)/Windows Device Center (on my PC) and Windows SideShow. Yay.
Could you please help me out?
To summarize:
PC with Vista Home Premium,
Trust Ultra Small Bluetooth 2.1 Usb Adapter 25 M,
HTC S730.
Not working for ActiveSync nor SideShow.

PS: I installed something called "X86-PC Drivers.cab" I found in some thread. That's supposed to be the drivers for the SideShow service on the PC. (I think I installed them, I did not get an error from Rundll32...)
EDIT: what might be of use: I can't get the devices to pair if I use the PC to initiate that. The PC does not find the phone untill I pair them using to phone to initiate.
I don't know about SideShow but I managed once to ActiveSync my Wings through Bluetooth. Just be sure to remove any security restricition on your Bluetooth settings on your device. Like Secure Connection etc... Also, setup a serial port when you connect with your PC and then, at PC ActiveSync settings, at connection settings -> Allow Connections To One Of The Following (Com 4 or whatever). And then, at ActiveSync on your mobile, connect through Bluetooth. Try it and come again if it doesn't work.
Yes! Thank you. It's syncing as I type. That COM4 did the trick!
In the same way, you can have Internet on your mobile through Bluetooth's activesync connection. It is helpful if you don't have wifi on your mobile.

Tethering Internet Connection

Hi,
I have very bad WIFI signal in my room and my computer is connected via cable to router at 1 Gb/s connection so no problem. The problem is when I try to use my devices in my room that I have very slow speeds on WIFI so I was wondering if I can connect my Lumia 435 to the PC and the Lumia take the computer internet connection and make a hotspot for other devices. It's called reverse tethering but I don't know how to setup this type of connection beetween my PC and Lumia 435 with Windows Phone 8.1
You need a wifi adapter. Is like a usb pendrive.
Have you looked at connectify?
I think that software does that too
If your computer has a WiFi adapter you can easily set it to broadcast as an access point, sharing its wired connection. For Windows, there's a pretty nice program called Virtual Router Manager, though you can do it with nothing but an admin command line and the "netsh" utility (built in).
If your computer doesn't have a WiFi adapter, you can pick one up for cheap (less than $20, usually). I don't know of any way to reverse tether a Windows Phone device, though. The phone can, of course, broadcast a hotspot, but it will only do so to share the cellular connection; it won't share the connection from any other source.

Sidesync not finding phone connected via USB !?

I tried searching the forum and found no comments on sidesync so here is my problem:
What I am using:
Sidesync 4.0 installed on a windows 7 x64 PC
Galaxy Note 5 (Verizon) running 5.1.1 (Stock of course :/ )
SideSync 4.0.9.9 App on the phone from samsung store
I was able to successfully connect to my home PC over WiFi network so I know the phone software will do it.
When I try to connect wirelessly at work I can't use WiFi because the desktop PC is wired and the phone is wireless. I understand this and that is not the issue.
I am connected the phone via USB directly to the computers USB port and SideSync is not finding it. I log on to my PC with an unprivileged account so when I launch sidesync it wants admin credentials which I provide. Once launched it will not find the phone.
Anyone have any thoughts?
When I connected mine for the first time this morning it had to install a driver before I plugged in the phone. Did it prompt you to unplug and install the driver? Seems to work great but if I bring up the phone screen on the PC it cuts out my headphone audio that I am listening to through the phone, not sure if it is trying to play through my PC I'll have to play around with it.
