In theory would it be possible to have the Nexus 6 screen output in 1080p instead of QuadHD. That or a lower resolution to save battery consumption and improve screen on time. This in theory would be very useful to incorporate into a power saving mode.

This should do what you're looking for.
As long as its still using the full screen the resolution won't matter. It's not the resolution that uses more power it's the powering of pixels.

While you are correct on the usage of power for the pixels, lowering resolution does still save battery as you aren't taxing the GPU as much to render the lower resolution as opposed to the higher resolution.

Well the app is pretty basic so what are you not able to get working? Are you rooted?

My wifi is acting strange last days. The down arrow is always blinking. When switching to 3g this is not happening, so no app issue i suppose. Using speedmod kernel. Its happening on two different routers I have at home. Have surfed the internet, but could not find a clear solution. Any ideas?

Is it possible that the wifi scan is going on?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
There can be 2 reasons for that..
1st-> Under Software Update option Auto Update is enabled with Wi-Fi only mode.
2nd-> In Play Store go to Settings and see if Update over Wi-Fi only is enabled or not.
Think this will solve your problem.
Thanks for your help. I tried it. I even installed a complete vanilla Rom and kernel. I suspect it is a scanning problem because the frequency and behaviour is almost the same as when i am at the wifi scanning settings menu.

I'm getting this on a brand new (stock) Note. Only happens on my home WiFi. Did you ever figure it out?

As per the above discussion, it seems to be the wifi scan that goes on after a certain interval of time (15 sec)...
"may be it can be fixed by changing wifi.supplicant_scan_interval value to a higher value" in the build.prop file.
rom toolbox pro helps you do this...
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=15 and change it to your desired value wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=90.
just to let you know .. i tried this once by directly changing the values using ES text editor but then phone dint boot.. i had to do a nandroid restore...
so in case you wanna experiment... make sure u have a working backup.... (nandroid)

Sunspider benchmark has gone from around 1280ms (from memory) to 803.4ms on my phone using the "Internet" browser which looks as if they have tweaked something. Haven't got any benchmark programs installed to test graphics performance.
EDIT: for comparison Chrome gets 1193ms and firefox really falls behind with 1620ms.

Whoa to 803?? That's a massive gain. That bests even the SGS4 now with its 1.9GHz clocks. I think the GS4 scored around 900-1000 range while the H1 had 1100-1200. This was anandtech.com's review, so it should be very reliable.
Yeah, I thought it was quite impressive too, here is the link for comparison of time want to run against un-upgraded phone. http://www.webkit.org/perf/sunspide...idate-input":[86,86,83,87,88,86,89,86,82,89]}

Good to see that - not complaining about the speed of the phobe pre update - more than happy
I am really unhappy with the camera on the note3... there is too much shutter lag that most photos come back blurry... is there another camera app that might be better to use than the stock ? also what settings are optimal for minimizing the shutter lag ?
I flashed the Nexus 5 camera and though it is light on options for basic shots I totally prefer it. I take hundreds of shots of my kids a month.

do you have the apk ? i got this phone since i take a lot of photos of my kids but its hard to take kids photos when everything comes out blurry
Its a zip...you can flash it through flashgordon hang on...

what app works on the z1?
I tried kernel tuner, but it did not work
Set CPU, pimp my xperia, faux123

Anyway, the point is that if I used a free application like kernel tuner, it says that the kernel lacks the module to adjust the voltages
So I am not gonna risk it with a pay for app
Or have you been able to change your voltages somehow?
If yes, how?

I wouldn't and i haven't tried m8, in all fairness at this CPU and GPU level it's negligent to even bother, the gains are so small that it's not worth it. Just slim down your apps and optimize battery life that way if that's what you want or use autostarts to close apps u don't need if it's performance youre after, changing governors can cause reboots.
In all honesty I don't think the gain's are worth the risks.

Well, at the moment I use for daily things, and the phone is extremely fast and responsive, the cpu set at about 1200 Mhz maximum
That means i use about 30% battery per day
So maybe even lowering the voltages......
Lowering voltage (VDD levels) is currently disabled in Doomkernel because of some 4.4.x issues - some driver kind of issues to make it work!

I'm coming from an s7 edge. I have the s10 plus.
I can't seem to change the quality of the picture. I can do it with the video (from 4k to 720 p for both front and rear cameras, but I can't for the picture)
Does anyone know how to change the settings?
The only thing I see is when I take a picture on the screen on the left hand menu bar I can choose, 16:9, 1:1, 4:3, or full screen.
Does that affect the quality of the photo taken (in megapixels)?
I currently have it set on full screen, but on my old s7 edge, full screen would give you a lower pixel count, so I set it to 4:3. Should I do the same here?
Tap settings, rear picture size and click resolution.
It's not there.
Here are the options I have. (check attacment)
Doesn't say. You just get size of image.

Weird... So which one is the highest quality?
4:3?
Yes 4:3 is 12 mp,16:9 is 8 as per my knowledge
