Dev Request- Port Xperia Time-Shift App to Note 4 - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been looking for quite a while now for a similar app to the iPhones slow motion editing software and have come up empty handed. Not only that, but excuse after excuse on why Android doesn't support it, or the hardware can't support it, all BS. Sony came out with "time-shift" in the Z2, which shows there is no hardware problem, only software. The quality of the time-shift is really good and on par with the iPhone 5s/6/6+.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSoPwAJvrQs
The Time-Shift app has been ported successfully to the Z1 but not to other android phones. The Xperia phones all use Snapdragon 800/801 proccessors and Sony IMX220 sensors, which is pretty much what all 2014 flagships run (Note 4 is an imx240, still an Exmor RS sensor). The Sony devs have been great getting it ported to other Xperia devices and I'm hoping there is someone around here that can do work and get it working on the Note and possibly other Android phones.
I'm willing to put down 100 dollars towards a dev that can get it working on the Note 4, maybe some sort of bounty, and I'm willing to do more if that is what it takes.
Right now I have a note 3 for personal use but also a Note 4 here at the shop that I can do some testing with also.

Any news ?

That's it, Samsung?
I'm so disappointed at the unveiling of the Note 4, the big great uber phone I was hoping would replace my broken Note 2.
No IP certification, no front / stereo speaker, no bigger screen (Sony Z2 Ultra says Hi), lame...
This is going to be another slow seller...

Planning to buy a Galaxy Note 4 in 2016?

hey guys, i need some of your help, i will buy a note 4 in these days, is still worth buying?
If yes, what model? the snapdragon quadcore or the exynos octacore? which of them have more development for stable roms like a note 7 port to the note 4?
Please i need your opinions, thank you
Won't recommend it this late, especially when the likes of OnePlus 3 is out there, sorry. Also there is HTC 10. The only reason you should get the Note 4 is if you are getting it at a really low price. I love my Note 4, but a phone running TouchWiz, well it still runs TouchWiz. But if S Pen is a mandatory thing to you then you can't go anywhere else except the Note 4, that's true too.
Exynos all the way, if you don't wish for them AOSP based ROMs.
I don't agree, this is my fourth Note 4. Thought I could replace it with LG G4, no way. Thougth I could replace it with Oneplus 3, no way. Yeah, The OP3 is snappier, but thats it, everything else is better on Note 4.

I voted yes. I actually just ordered one yesterday, Due to arrive tomorrow. I was between a rock and a hard place when I made my decision. Seeing as the new notes all have a lot of nice features and speed improvement. The reason I decided on the note 4 is of course the note features as compared to other things like the lg g4 the oneplus etc. And my second biggest reason is that it's the last of the note series to have svlte. Meaning if i'm at a store and someone calls me I can still use data without needing wifi. All newer phones "at least on verizon" do not allow this unless you have volte I think. Problem is I use all my phones on prepaid and verizon won't allow prepaid users to use advanced calling. So if you're on verizon prepaid then the note 4 is for you. If you're on contract or just don't care about svlte then I say get a newer note. note 5 major drawbacks to me. no svlte. no sd card. no removable battery. note 7 drawbacks. no removeable battery and still very expensive.

I agree, the only reason why i dont choose the note 5 over the note 4 is for the sd card slot, and i dont get the note 7 becouse it is too way expensive.
I would choose the OP3 over the note 4 of course, but it doesnt have sd card slot, and there is only a variant of 64 gb
And i dont buy phones with mobile contract lol
Ohh and another question, which is the variant tag of the note 4 exynos octacore?
I've had my N910C for about a year now and it's probably the best device I've ever had. I got it shortly last year after the SGS6 series was released and when the specs of the Note 5 were announced. If I do end up upgrading it will probably be to a Note 7 as Note 4 are now very hard to find in brand new condition.

C and U are the tags which stated that you have a Exynos 5433 Octocore device.
I recently bought a refurb TMo Note 4 that went for cheap to use as a backup phone to my Nexus 6P. The last Samsung phone I had was a S4 and I was disillusioned with Samsung since the S3 and very critical of their software, so I only used Motorola and Nexus since. I have opened many phones brands to see their internals including Huawei, HTC, Motorola, ZTE, Samsung and Apple. I'm never impressed with Samsung internal build quality including this Note 4, which I think is cheap considering how much it cost during release. (My opinion, you don't have to get offended.)
I didn't expected to like the S-Pen features so much, along with multitask and pop out feature. This is pretty important to me, to be able watch a video while doing something else at the same time. I can do this with third party apps on the Nexus, I like the fact it's built in for the Note. With Root, Adaway, Nova Launcher, XPosed (reluctantly) the phone is pretty smooth and while not super snappy as my Nexus 6P, it certainly isn't slow. Another important Samsung feature I like is the Game Tuner and this pretty much eliminate the performance issue since I can play games at 720p/1080p and get good framerates. Again I can lower the screen res on my Nexus as well, except this is built in and it only affect selected apps which is much more convenient. Basically, the Note have all the features I wanted built in that I would have to go through extra steps to make available on my Nexus. Did I mentioned removable battery, sdcard and IR blaster?
The only downside for the phone is the finger print scanner is crap, but Smart Unlock works for me so it's not a problem. Other minor issue is the GPS sucks, I had to open up the phone which scared me a bit actually, but I managed to bend that GPS gold contact point upward a bit, now the signal is great.
So I sold the 6P to pay some bills and using the Note 4 as my daily driver. I think the whole Note 7 recall might work in my favor if it cause the phone price to go down faster, then I might upgrade to the Note 7 rather than getting the the new Google Pixel phone.
I forget to mention T-Mobile WiFi Calling works perfectly and stays connected all the time with this phone, a huge deal. For whatever reason it's always disconnect on the Nexus 6P and with Android 7 update it got worse.

Disagree, I recently bought 2x Note 4's for around 260€ a piece plus shipping and both are as new! So if you look around carefully you can find them for a reasonable price in as new condition...
Looking at ebay.de/co.uk and you will find good examples.
I would even go further that if they have some minor scratches on the frame, go and buy yourself a new frame. Replacing the frame is easy as is replacing the display assy...

Hi there,
I voted "YES" too.
I have one already (one Month old) and two more for the rest of the family coming this way. Why you may ask?
I need the S-Pen features, I wan't to be able to replace the battery (switch it in 2 min and 100% battery again), I'm using the SM-N9100 dual sim together with the MicroSD card (can't do that with Note 5 or Note7).
Finally the main reason (Price), I have friends in China that can buy it at 280€ , although locked to China SIM's but with a 10min call (using China SIM) and no problem at all using other Region SIM's ever.
It has a CHC rom (China and English) but using ODIN we can easily load the TGY Multi Language ROM with Gapps (Stock) and not triggering the KNOX warranty flag...
PS: The only downside points (by choosing the DualSIM N9100 version) are :
- The lack or Custom Roms (for example 6.0.1 not yet available "officially" in the TGY variant, maybe a few weeks from now since the CHC is "Finally" out).
- Smaller battery (3000 vs 3220).
- Less storage (16GB vs 32GB).
- Only Snapdragon, no Exynos option for dual sim.
- No FDD LTE band 20, but on the plus side we do have more bands for TDD side (traveling).
but unfortunately I really need the "DualSIM" feature .
PS: In China I saw the non-dual sim version at a even lower price (250€). Imagine buying three units at the same cost of the latest Note7. Can't beat the features/price ratio, especially packed with a amazing 5.7 inch 2K super Amoled screen . And I'm not talking about Refurbishing units.
Thanks,
Regards,

Depends ... the note 4 has a fine hardware, but the software (espacially updates) sucks. The note 4 is the first smartphone I never would get again. Don't get me wrong - really, the hardware is awesome, but the software (even with alternative) is just so bad. I came from a google nexus 2 years back and will get a nexus again.
Also I guess the note 4 won't get any more software updates, after the note 5 and 7 are out by now. I would suggest you wait till google releases their new nexus / pixel phones and look at the 6p then. My wife has the nexus 6p and I'm quite jealous - all that what I wanted the note 4 to be if you dont calc in the missing pen. Even the cam is better then the note 4 IMHO. And it will drop in price then.
Oh, and for what I don't like about the software ... it's slow and hangs from time to time. Also some Apps from Samsung are just bad like SVoice ... google now is much better in comparsion. If you ever used a pure android, you know what I mean. Also the additional apps like FB are something I don't want. Then there's the problem with the knox triggering when rooting (could result in a warranty dismissal) and so on. Or some random restarts with stock firmware (right now stock DBT snapdragon). Or the really bad finger print sensor. The Pen stuff is awesome and the OCR works like magic. But I use it quite rarely so it doesn't outweigh the cons.
Also I couldn't find any alternative rom that was working for me (too much stuff in it, too slow, to instabile, you name it) or with cm the health sensors not working and some other samsung stuff.
And to be a bit more clear, after I had some other samsung devices in my hands ... never again a samsung for me personally. Only the best phones get updates for more then like 6 months and new features don't reach the phones ever. Also it seems like there are 20 software engineering camps withing samsung, all working against each other...
But really, this is my personal, strong subjective feeling about the phone - if you like it or not, depends on how it works for you. For me there are too many things that anger me, mostly small things like I mentioned above. Might be it's different for you. Read some more reviews on amazon, even the bad ones.
You could set your priorities and then decide, OP.
Hardware: Note 4 is still decent, but much newer chipset and better chipset are out there.
Software: As far as TouchWiz goes, no comment there. But with a little bit of tweaking (by choosing performance over battery) you could the nice enough performance. But never to the level of HTC 10 and OnePlus 3. Read Anand's review of Note 7 and see the section where they compared the frame rates with HTC 10. TouchWiz lags mate, its as simple as that.
Camera + Display: Display is excellent, and camera is decent enough too.
S Pen: No competition there, again.
Build: Note 4 is the very LAST phone in Samsung's lineup where Samsung used practical materials to come up with a mobile phone. Now all of them are jewellery.
Price: Like I said in my previous comment, if you could get it at good price, which is somewhere around 25-30% lower than OnePlus 3's then "maybe" you could get it.
The note 4 is still a great device I still have my tmo 910t device i just ordered the 910c for exynos which is a little snappier than the snapdragon all the devices in my sig. i still own and use but for a few. I haven't added another note 5c and s6 edge plus to my sig yet. But the note 4 will keep up with those other devices for the age. if you want a loud ringing phone note 4 is it.. The note 5 isnt as loud as the note 4 or the note 3 for that matter..
I currently have a Note 4 on the Verizon network.. Plus it is snapper than most, plus it can handle anything I throw at it app wise.. Never over heats or crahses.. The Note 5 and seven both have none removal batteries, and that is a draw back for me.. Plus it still has volte, and the newer ones do not.. I also have the Droid Turbo on Verizon.. What I do not like, is before I installed a custom rom, the battery would drain, and constantly needed to be charge.. Plus it would over heat a lot and freeze.. I would consider another Note 4 if I needed one.. But when the Note 4 is payed off, I plan on getting any Samsung device or another brand all together.. It will depend on price, and development..

note 9 or p20 pro.. which is the best option?

Hi guys
Actually I use a galaxy note 8 but in September. I need to change it because expire the rent signature.
So, I'm looking for a new smartphone.. And the 2 smartphone that I found are note. 9 or p20. Pro..
It's true that are 2 different product.. And the p20 has not the spen.. But I don't use the s pen top much..for work I started to use a iPad with the apple pencil and I think is better for my use.. The display is bigger than a smartphone display...
So, if I forget the spen functionality.. What is your suggestion? P20 is cheaper (not too much) and his camera is better.
Otherwise, I'm started to use galaxy series or note series 8 years ago, the first one was galaxy s1.... Actually the UI for me is easy to use...I'm scared I loose some function with the p20..
Can you give me your consideration?
Thanks
Sam
this is like asking in the huawei forum whether the note 9 is better...
Yes I know.. But if someone need to compare this 2 device, where must ask the question?
If you're used to the Samsung UI, the Huawei EMUI will definitely be quite different. Especially in terms of how it handles battery management and memory optimization, as well as maybe the lock screen notifications. My friend does have a P20 Pro while I use the Note 9, having switched from the S8.
I will tell you right away, if you want better battery life get the P20 Pro.
If you want the better camera, it's honestly a toss-up. In true real world experience, the P20 Pro's camera is not quite the home run critics make it out to be, there were some scenes where even my year old Galaxy S8 could beat the P20 Pro.
If you want the better display there's no question about it get the Galaxy Note 9 it's not only bigger it doesn't have a notch and well it's a Samsung OLED display enough said.
The real question of the Galaxy Note 9 is, how much are you willing to pay for the S Pen, and Samsung's slightly less offensive software. My advice is try to shop around for a P20 pro deal, as it's been out for a while now. If you can get it for significantly less than the Note, buy that. If the prices are within $100 of each other, get the Note. If you can wait, wait for the Mate 20 to release and see how that looks; even if you don't like it, both the Note and the P20 are bound to be cheaper by then.
Oddly enough, the battery test videos show the Note 9 quite superior to the P20. Not sure what is better because I don't buy off brand phones so I have no experience with them.
Lol, P20 Pro's camera is not better. It just has more lenses. If you DO like taking black and white pictures, go for Huawei. If you like functionality, SAME CAMERA PERFORMANCE, S-pen and overall performance, go for samsung. I used to have Iphone 8+, now i own Note 9. I dont feel any different in terms of performance.
I just sold my p20 pro that I've had for two months, my note 9 is coming tomorrow so I can't compare the two (I did have the note 8 and s9 for a while though) but I can tell you some things about the p20.
The camera has been advertised extremely well, and it is great in low light BUT in real world point and shoot situations it's trash in my opinion. I haven't taken one photo on it that I like, all the photos I have taken on auto are over processed and over sharpened. Any Samsung phone I've ever used has always had a fantastic point and shoot camera.
The EMUI no matter what anyone tells you is clunky and just not enjoyable to use. I feel like the new and improved Samsung experience UI is really smooth and easy to use in comparison. I'm aware you can use launchers and stuff but I prefer to keep the stock launcher.
Although the p20 is advertised as having a 4000mah battery I haven't had a great experience with it. This differs from person to person and usage but I really can't get a full day out of it.
I know it might seem like I'm bashing the phone I have enjoyed some aspects of it, but my note 9 is coming tomorrow and I cannot wait to get my hands on it.
Thanks a lot guys for your really apprecied feedback!
I read your opinion and I thin, again, that my new smartphone will. Be again a note!
Sure, I think the difference respect the note 8 will be not so much, but as I explained, in September expire the relationship with my carrier and I must change the smartphone, and buy a note 8 is not convenient.
Actually in italy the street price of the p20 pro is 700 euroin European version, online.. The Italian versione is slightly expensive, approx 800 euros..
The note 9 will sold 1029 euro, so the difference is 250/350euro,but I can subscribe, is a newest in italy, a subscription with Samsung. I can pay monthly the device for 24 months, with 99 euro of first payment, and obtain a note 9.afyerthis period, I can pay approx 300 euros and the device will be mine, otherwise, I can replace it with a new one..
At the end, I will pay more than 1029 euros but for 24 yeast I have a protection against damage included, and is not a bad things..
P20 pro has not this option, in italy is sold or as a usual with carrier or I must pay it 100%.
About ghe performance...i really stress my smartphone.. I use it for job, I take note during some. Meeting, I use it via chrome cast to watch movies by Netflix or similar, and the integrated dex station function can be a good features (but also the p20 has. This option)
I use also it with camera, because I have 2 children and is always a good. Thing have in my hand a good camere to capture the nice moment of the day.. And this is a good point.. I was sure that the people like the p20 pro camera. Much more than the other. Camera phone, but your real feedback explain a different situation.. I'm not a professional camera man, I need a best camera with automatic setting for this moment, and if you are agree that also the note 9 can be better, this is another good point for note 9.
Finally... The UI powered by Samsung is without secrets for me after a lot of years.. Also, last but not least, when I configure the new device automatically I found saved wifi Hotspot, password and other small information that help me during my Business, and I reduce the stress to replace a new device
Th AK a lot again guys for your explanation.
Ot: somebody with the note 9 can give me a feedback about dex application, in particular for Netflix and autocad application? I think can be 2 real interesting application respect surfing on internet or other solutions

If you ask me, wait a little bit for a mate 20 (pro) and than make finall decision. Last year i had note 8 and mate 10 pro after it and huawei was better for me.

In what ways if you don't mind me asking? I got my note 9 this morning and I am so happy I don't have to use the p20 pro anymore!
@Popmonty battery capacity (sot +40%) and flat screen at start (this rounded screen are totaly pointless for me, expecially on a note series where 10% on screen is useless with pen)! Than, mate 10 pro had stereo sound (note 8 not), much faster (and better positioned) fingerprint, 128gb etc.
On a note 8 side was wireless charging and 3.5mm.
Now in note 9 a lot of things are improved; stereo sound (but still mono for notification except whatsupp app), 128gb base memory, bigger screen and 4000mAh...but who knows what new mate will bring near new kirin 980 and wireless charging. I would wait 2 more months if there is possibility...if nothing, note 9 will be much cheaper in 2 months
Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
P20 pro still uses bluetooth 4.2 while others started with 5.0 like last year? It doesn't matter if I need it or not. For a flagship price it needs to provide flagship specs. Huawei has been known for this kind of **** behind the scene. Who knows what else has been cheaped out on.
Regarding the mate 20 pro... It was also for me a good option.. But I need to finalize the order max in the first week of October because I have to finalize the contract signed with phone operator.. I must return the note 8 otherwise I have to pay another year.. But the cost is similar to buy another one new phone so I will return it.
For this reason I think is not an option for me wait the new mate 20 pro.
Regarding the performance of p20... There are 2 important thing that are not installed in this device.. The 3.5 jack and And the wireless charging... For my personal use the first one is good because in the night in some case I use wired earphone too watch some movies in my bed when my wife sleep.. Are comfortable and I don't want rememberto charge a Bluetooth earphone.. I have the gear icon x of Samsung and I use this only for fitness... And a lot of case are discharge.
The wireless charge instead is good because I have in my office the wireless stand and is confortante charge my mobile while I'm in the office..
Sincerely, I don't know why in the p20 pro there is not at least this option... In fact I read will be integrated with the new mate 20
I would definitely recommend for you to wait and see what the Mate 20 Pro will offer. I am expecting a fairly good phone from Huawei. They have made a few videos targeting the Note 9 so I'm guessed they have something up their sleeves. Also it will have a bigger battery than the Note 9 and also a more efficient SOC being the new Kirin 980 developed on a new 7mn architecture
Only (huge) problem from my POV is that Huawei does not allow unlocking of Bootloaders anymore - so cannot Root or install custom ROMs on Huawei devices - I hope this changes soon.
This factor alone tips it towards the Note 9 for me. Now patiently waiting for a decent price drop - hopefully by November/ holiday period.

I suggest, with respect, you don't make any purchase based on reviews or forum posts for anything you purchase from mobiles to socks. We all differ and it comes down to what your needs are rather than what you want or others suggest.

Ciao Ryland
Sure, I don't purchase note 9nkr hauwei depending of. The forum. Review, I already found this 2 device after personal. Consideration, also I have already the galaxy note 8, so I know the device.
Because are 2 really interesting phone, and because I use for job and personal use the camera, I just ask the opinion of the other person of the forum, because for example test the camera is impossible and I can only as ask a feedback from somebody that already tried both.
For this reason after some consideration read here in this thread I take the decision to buy the note 9 and I wrote this comment... Because some users told me a feedback regarding a feature that I can't test myself.. Sure I must believe to this person.. But I think also this is the spirit of the forums, no?
huawei's software is trash (and with that locked bootloader stuff u cant even flash custom roms lol), that alone is enough for me to not buy a huawei phone

Rooting is a waste of time in this day and age. If you need to root a phone you are a million miles from a typical user.
The P20 pro is not as good as the Note 9 I would agree, but the software is fine, as is the Note software.
If you need to root then get a Nexus 5 or something.
With regards to the rest of this thread, for me the pros and cons are:
Note : Faster, Slightly better screen, Headphone Jack
P20 Pro : Better/ Louder sounding speakers, Much better camera in ALL scenarios barring indoor low light. Less noise, better zoom, better overall quality, much better low light.
I have both phones right now, and honestly if the P20 pro had better video recording and was a little less laggy on graphics intensive stuff, I would use it as my main phone. BUT the note 9 is a more polished phone and is better in almost all ways barring speakers and photos.

im not talking about rooting at all, im just talking about ROM's in general. Huawei's stock rom is trash, while the samsung one has become very good over the years.

Would you still buy the note9?

Hello there!
Been a long time since I have taken a look on the forums, been a while away from samsung phones, but I still get attracted to the note 9
Read and heard some good and bad things about the note and coming from Oneplus (i have the 5) I was wondering if people would still buy the note with the knowledge you have now after using it for a couple of months..
Now with pie and the the new Samsung one ui i get even more tempted to make a switch back to Samsung..
Now with pie, yes in this context it is worth to buy. I have two, geez!!!
Note 9 is the best overall by far. So much functionality and features inside a premium device. I used 2 pixel 3, one normal and other XL, and despite the camera, I couldn't see nothing better than Note.
I'm a heavy camera user. Stock camera is great and now with Gcam working on it nothing beats this device.
In my opinion, Samsung software is the most complete at the moment.
Absolutely the Note 9 is worth it. Everything runs perfectly and pair it together with the Night Sight Gcam, there's almost no reason to look at other phones on the current market.

And do you use exynos or the snapdragon version?
Best phone I've ever owned! LOVE the S Pen functionality and I have had no issues at all. Not rooted and easily get 7 hrs odd SoT, all round brilliant device. I have the exynos version.

Hands down a great Phone! EXynos!!
I'd buy it in a heartbeat today (Exynos). But that's coming form a traditional Note user. Been on this series since my Note 1 on AT&T.
Awesome Smartphone, Samsung truly has given us tons of features with this smartphone! i still got tons more to learn! Some people are saying the Huawei Mate 20 Pro is in some ways better!
i dont know if i could agree, there Amoled display are good. But not as Good as the Samsung AMOLED.. Also battery easily 7 hours on screen time and that's without root.. Huawei Mate 20 Pro they use really aggressive battery management tweaks witch leads to bugs!
The note 9 camera rocks. We had G-Cam working but the PIE ONE UI killed that. i'm sure some dev will find a way around to get it working again..
if you are after an really powerfull smartphone then NOTE9 is the way to go! if you wont gimmicks and stuff get the Huawei Mate 20 Pro!
At this point I'd save up for the Note 10. Pie should be better optimized with the hardware since its being built ground up with pie.
Rumor(hasnt been confirmed but based on "leaks"):
Bigger screen
Bigger Battery
Three cameras
Near bezel-less design.
faster charging solution

I saw that and I just don't believe it. Samsung know the markets had changed and sales haven't been as good. I expect around 1k with some decent trade ins to boot.

Not saying 1k+ is not too much because it is! Flagship prices are out of control.
Funny that where the O6T is priced is what flagships used to cost.
Now? I would wait for S10 to be shown to know direction of Note10 changes. Every year when S series is presented, you have glimpse about Note series design and functions, yes? So this year will be no different, and i would count on price drop of Note9, but yes - i would buy it again i think. Someone mentioned about prices - it`s getting pretty high, year after year so note9 was very expensive at start, and Note10? I can`t imagine price tag of this one. $1999 for best option (probably 10-12 gigs of ram and 1TB of space?) - nevertheless, note9 is enough for few years, maybe note 12 will be one i will look for, or note 13?
Would I buy it again? Probably yes, if the price is right. But the exynos version is imho still way behind the snapdragon version, sadly. This was thoroughly tested by anandtech for the S9+ and later confirmed for the Note 9. It's a pain in the ass to see that Samsung includes two different SOCs in their products which, this time around, provide a different user experience. The story apparently continues with the S10 and most likely the Note 10 respectively with the exynos version being the inferior version of the two, in terms of efficiency and LTE performance.
All that aside, the Note 9 is easily the best phone I've ever owned with a great and most complete set of features. If you can live with the SOC issue, the high cost and the huge dimensions of the device, you will be fine. It's a great device. Eventhough I personally don't like the PIE update apart from the gesture navigation.

Only if you can get the snapdragon version. Not only it's superior for gaming, battery life, smoothness, multitasking, emulation and app loading/transitioning - but the one UI on the exynos note 9 is less smooth than even oreo, really disappointed on that one. Phone priced at 1000 euro with UI smoothness of midrange phone + they f up the multitasking on android 9 and made it like google's implementation... slow to use, not convenient to use, less features...

This with both hands, snapdragon 955 will make a joke of the exynos 9820 the same way sd845 makes a joke of the exynos 9810. Also I clearly see lags in the animations in android 9, more so vs the oreo (that is actually proven to be A LOT smoother with the snapdragon SOC!!!). I am so disappointed from that SOC and the funny part is that we in Europe PAID MORE, 1000 euro is 1140 us dollars currently. SOC is like buying the most expensive computer both me and you, but I receive the best possible cpu, gpu, ssd, etc while you receive midrange cpu, gpu, ssd, motherboard and so on. There is no excuse and really important for the longevity of the phone and the experience with it... wish we had the apple's A12 in the note 9 tbh, but that's another topic (sadly I dislike a lot about apple to buy an iphone just because of the great SOC). We already see a problem with longevity (and don't me even get started on the gaming part as there is absurd difference + yes, I game on my phone), I am sure the snapdragon will be a lot smoother on the new android and UI.
@high_voltage , I agree. It's a bit of a let down that everyone despite the american users only get the second best version of the Note 9. It wouldn't be a big issue for me if Samsung in europe also provides warranty for the snapdragon variant. Sadly thats not the case and thus you are either stuck with the exynos version or you risk to get snapdragon version which might, as every phone might, develop some issues over time. In addition, Samsung makes it harder to use different phones in different regions due to their region lock.
As of now, the new snapdragon seems to be superior again but I guess we have to wait and see how it'll turn out. It wasn't always the case though, the S8 exynos version was superior to the snapdragon one based on what've read. Sadly, the One UI really fells inferior to the "old" Samsung UX, but it might get more polished over time. I still think that Samsung is able to pull it off since it has done so with the S9s when they were introduced.
So yeah, I'd buy the Note 9 again because I love the features and the SPen, eventhough I hate to be forced to spend more money on only the second best option available.

Some of the things in the one UI are great and polished, but not everything and that sad, as it's literally "samsung rushed the update" type of comment shaping while they had so much time for development and beta testing...
For the exynos vs snapdragon it was like that:
s6 exynos was vastly superior to the flawed snapdragon 810 nicknamed "the oven"
s7 exynos was superior in the CPU part to the snapdragon 820 - better battery life, better CPU, less heat, better DAC (i.e. better audio via headphones), but had weaker GPU (but by not that much!). Overall better SOC!
s8 exynos was same as speed in CPU as the snapdragon 835, but less heat and longer battery life. The DAC was also better. The GPU was noticeable slower tho even in that generation. It was no clear winner, for gaming - sd variant, otherwise the exynos.
s9 exynos is where all fall apart - CPU is a lot slower in real world (and all benches except geekbench too, mind you), the GPU is roflmao slower, the DAC in the new snapdragon 845 is vastly improved and similar to the wolfson/lucky in the exynos, battery life on the snapdragon is better WHILE being faster. The only part where the exynos is still better is that in heavy loads the phone is colder and... that's all. This year the difference was absurdly big to the point that every single review before launch was snapdragon variant as samsung send ONLY those to the popular reviewers.
Sadly, and I am talking as a "tech heavy" person that is really into electronics as a hobby and professionally - the new exynos 9820 will still lag behind even by samsungs own projections. Read a lot, it will be worse in every department vs the snapdragon 855 and both will be vastly behind the apple's A12, more competing with the iphone X A11. Sad story, really... this samsung practice should be more exposed so they can stop it. Every person on that forum that had both variants infront of him said the same thing: "I came prepared for a difference into this, but didn't expect it to be that big!" then returned the exynos while keeping the snapdragon 845 one.
Without hesitation I absolutely love my Note 9(Snapdragon). It's battery is nearly on the level of my V20 with an extended battery. With the Pie beta so far the device is on a level of its own. If you have the opportunity just buy it.

Indian S10/ Exynos S10 users

A query before purchase
Hi guys,
I am planning to purchase S10 here in India and would like to know about overall experience of yours using the device so far. I have been watching a lot of reviews and it seems exynos version being sold in India is really bad when compared to that of Snapdragon version especially battery life and camera quality. Also I see a lot of people mentioning about device overheating ,is this true ?
How do you feel using the mobile ? I was using OnePlus 5 before. I want to buy an android that offers complete package (Camera, Battery life, stereo speakers , design etc..) and don't see other company apart from Samsung offering this. I am a huge fan of Sony and had of their devices before OnePlus 5 but Sony doesnt sell their latest flagships anymore in India.
Please tell your opinion guys !!!!! can be helpful for me Is Samsung Galaxy S10 worth for what we pay for or Shall I think about Note 9 ? (I need a minimum of 1 day batter life , I dont mind charging every morning before going to office but battery should last for atleast 20 hours ...I am not a gamer or a power user but i use around 200 apps in mobile )
