Hi!
I have a weird problem with my Xperia SP 5303.
I managed to install fxp custom rom (FXP347-cm-11-20141122-UNOFFICIAL-huashan.zip) and it was working until I used Backup-TA to restore my DRM keys (I did the backup before unlocking bootloader).
After restore (it said it was successfull) then my phone restarted and never completed the boot again.
When I hold the power button, a green light flashes briefly, the phone vibrates and nothing else happens.
Reading other posts about this problem, I tried:
- Holding power and volume up (blue light flashes briefly and nothing else);
- Holding power and volume down (green light flashes briefly and nothing else);
Apparently, if I plug the usb cable I can get to flash mode or fastboot mode. But I don't know what to do.
I already tried to to shutdown through the "Off" button near the battery. Nothing happens.
Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Forget it. I managed to fix it using Flashtool and stock rom in flash mode.

The core reason of why your phone was bricked is that you restores the TA backup on a custom ROM! You should only restore such backup on a stock ROM

Hi!
Yeah, I didn't realize it at that moment. It's my first customization on a Sony device and I thought I should restore the TA backup no matter what.
Fortunately I had Flashmode and Fastboot mode working so I could undo my mistake.
Thanks anyway. I have my FXP 4.4.4 running butter smooth. Much better than stock slow bloated ROM.

So I was on official stock 4.3 ROM with root and unlocked bootloader. I said to myself I have to try the XzKernel-18.5 so I booted in recovery and flashed the zip. Then I rebooted. The phone remained black. I tried to power it on from the button, but it's only vibrating. If I long press the power button, it vibrates once every second or so.
I plugged the USB cable from computer into the phone and the LEC started blinking red. I kept volume up pushed then plugged in the USB and the blue LED appeared so I guess I can go in fastboot. But what should I do? If possible, without loosing data!
Thank you!

Try to get in fastboot and install a boot.img (for example Doomkernel v20) (fastboot Flash boot boot.img). Then you can access CWM or TWRP to flash your backup back.
Fastboot: Turn off phone, Plug in USB an press http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/fastboot-buttons
Thank you. I solved the problem. I did not knew that restoring TA partiion will relock the bootloader So I had to unlock the bootloader again.

Ah, I see... ok, this could be a reason
So the thing is, I decided to buy this phone from another person a few days ago while it was still working but it had this one problem where the owner told me about how the phone can't be shutdown unless the battery runs out of power. Any time you shut it down, it simply reboots instead. I thought it was most likely a problem I could fix after flashing, so I decided to buy it.
Using Flashtool I was able to see that if timed pressing the buttons and plugging it into my computer right before the reboot started, I could boot into flashmode. This phone came in the 4.4 KK firmware and the 10.5.1.A.0.292 Generic NCB build, so I flashed an older kernel and rooted it using Towelroot before reflashing the 10.5.1.A.0.292 Generic NCB kernal. After rooting (and testing if root apps can shut it down which didn't work either), with a locked bootloader I installed the XZDualRecovery using the method here because I was finding it so hard to unlock the bootloader and Flashtool wouldn't do it either. It automatically booted into TWRP recovery menu but when I tried to flash a ROM (existenz Ultimate 3.5 to be precise), it simply made the screen go black for a second and took me back to the recovery menu. So figuring it was a bad download, I downloaded a smaller ROM but when I rebooted I accidentally went into PhilZ Touch menu instead. Deciding to do the usual wipe before flashing, here's where I messed up like an idiot. I saw an option along the lines of "Wipe CLEAN for flashing ROM" or something and trusted it so much despite it saying it's gonna wipe the system partition clean as well (I still don't know why I accepted even when warned of that).
So basically now I have a system that boots the SONY splashscreen and then goes black with the back light still on unless the battery runs out. I can't shut it down no matter how long I hold the power button and if I restart, it boots back to the same thing. I have no recovery menu now thanks to my genius idea of wiping the system, and the only thing I can enter is flashmode. So when I try to flash an FTF firmware (I tried every firmware I could get) back into the phone with Flashtool, it would simply say "preparing for flashing" for about a minute before it says "device disconnected" because the phone decides to exit flash mode and boot normally. I have a locked bootloader (with bootloader unlocking allowed), so I can't flash recovery menus. When I try booting by holding the VolumeUp key and plugging it in, it enters flash mode only with the red LED on and I still get the same results on Flashtool.
Was wondering if there were any ways around this that I might have missed before deciding to open the phone and change the hardware? And if it comes to that, what would I need to change (have always been a software guy when it comes to phones)? Any tips and advice would be appreciated.
TLDR: Have a bricked c6603 from wiping the system, that can't shutdown and keeps rebooting and refuses to be flashed.
If you have time before the phone reboots, hold Volume UP and the power key for 15 seconds. The phone will vibrate once at 10 seconds. Keep holding the keys until you feel 3 vibrations. This will hard power down the phone.

^I've tried this and it simply boots back up again.
Hmm. That should definitely shut the device down, not restart it.
Sounds like there could possibly be an issue with your power button. I've heard of issues with the power button after water damage. Have you checked the water ingress indicators under the flaps? If any are red, it points to earlier damage from water.

Seems like you're right, I just checked it and it indeed has a faded red color on it. Do you think if I take the phone apart it the power button could be fixed or should I swap something else inside this from another Xperia?

I experienced this problem
Pls hold down volume When u connect your phone to pc via flashtool,
It will connect in flash mode
After that , just flash 0.230 kernel via flash mode ( kernel not rom )
Then disconnect your phone
Turn it off ( hold power button and volume up till it vibrates 3 times )
Then before it turn on again , hold down the volume down and connect it to pc via usb and this time flash 0.283 Rom ( not kernel )
This worked for me
hey everyone,
I recently got a warranty replacement of my xperia z3 compact. It came with the latest 5.1.1. I downgraded to .77 (kitkat) through flashtool, rooted, installed the latest dual recovery. In TWRP, I restored one of my old TWRP backups, which was a .28 (lollipop 5.0 I believe). When I press reboot after restoring, the phone won't turn on anymore. No LED or anything. When I plug it into the charger, the LED blinks red. When I hold down the power button while charging, the LED light became solid red.
Flashtool doesn't recognize the phone. What else can I do? Did I corrupt the bootloader? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.
happened to me, just flash any stock firmware with flashtool (it doesnt need to be recognised) and do not plug in until it tells you to.
then follow the instructions and wipe everything
hope it helps

I tried flashing with flashtool, but when I plug the phone in when asked to, flashtool does not recognize the phone being plugged in.
Do you know why this happened? Did I do anything (downgrade firmware, flash wrong firmware) that caused this to happen?
I cant tell what did it, because flashing any rom will brick mine to this state, and what do you mean by not recognised? Does it say preparing files for flashing? does it give the 'press volume down and power button' pop up?

yes, after it's done preparing files for flashing, a popup appears which tells me to plug in the phone while holding the volume down button. When I plug in the phone, nothing happens. The flashing process doesn't start

Do you be sure to hold the power and volume down button before and during the time you plug it in, until the pop up disappears?
Had something similar, but flashtool magically fixed it

I know it's a late reply, but my Z3c is rooted and running marshmellow. My phone would do the same thing, I thought it was bricked. After monkeying and monkeying it finally came back. The problem was I let the battery drain all the way to 0, and even while plugged in for a bit it didn't do anything. I think it liked it when I would plug it into my laptop instead of the power outlet. From then on, I haven't had the problem because I try to avoid the battery going completely dead.
Although the last time I did by accident, it did come back after plugging it in. My suggestion? Try plugging and charging it in your laptop and then turn on.

sorry about my english
is your PC detect your phone in fastmode ?
press and hold volume down and connect to your flashtool in your pc
So I tried to relock my BL and restore it to the stock so I could send my phone to the lab for a broken screen replacement.
I flashed stock OS, it worked great, messed around with locking the BL with the flashtool, and all I left was restoring my DRM keys from the backup I created..
I couldn't make it so I found somewhere that I might need a real super user help and not the kingroot one..
so after alot of fastboot modes I've been entered, I shut down the device one more time to flash the other old ROM for the SU,
and when I tried to enter fastboot by plugging in the cable, I noticed the device won't turn on..
no response, dead, no vol down+ power to force restart, no fastboot, nothing.. the only living signal I get is by plugging power cord and the led is blinking red or blinking to my press on the power button..
Also I read some where about the hidden yellow super reset button.. it managed to do 3 vibrations but thats it.. still bricked..
Is there anything to do?
I didn't ruin anything physical or flashed something wrong it simply died for no reason.. what the hell happened?
Hi guys,
it totally shut off my brain when i restored my TWRP Image from my previous Z3C to my new one.
I guess i hard bricked it by restoring the old TA partition. It does not come up by any chance.
Just a redlight when pressing and holding the power button.
Any chances ?
Thanks a lot in advance...

Does it go into flashmode? Make sure it's turned off, start flashtool on your pc, then hold the volume down while plugging in the usb cable. If flashtool recognises it then you can follow bilboa1's great guide. You will probably have to start from scratch, old firmware, root exploit, recovery etc etc.
Have you tried the reset button? Under your sim flap, next to the sim slot is a tiny hole, you'll need a pin.
Edit: @istux has some sage advice about finding old keys in flashtool, referenced in this thread

It's not hard bricked because you can see the red light. So, you can relax
It's just soft bricked I guess.
Have you flashed a stock kernel before relocking with TA restorer?
Anyway... press volume.up and power together and keep pressed until you feel 3 quick vibrations.
Then flash a FTF stock rom through Flashtool
I did a full backup of all partitions with TWRP, which i fully restored on the new phone. Thats all. I guess i shouldnt have had restored the TRIM partition ?
It does nothing. No vibrating, no connection. I tried already all combinations of button pressing i could find in the www
If i connect it to a power source, it gives me fast red light blinking. If i hold the power button down, the red light stays.
@Daalgo any progress?
