No. Just check your APN settings if you have issues with mms.

I did all that and no dice

May not be your problem, but in a custom ROM I stopped using Hangouts because it was keeping my phone awake all the time. So I switched to the "messaging" app. Sending an MMS caused it to FC 100% of the time. Downloaded "Messenger" from the play store and it works fine.

[Q] Emoji Trouble Only in SMS Apps?

I'm having trouble getting emoji to work in my SMS apps. Emoji works everywhere EXCEPT SMS apps. I downloaded GO SMS and the emoji plugin, and could only see the ones I sent. Received ones are boxes with question marks in them. I tried the same with Handcent and couldn't get it to work either. I had this same issue with my Evo LTE, but never had this problem on my Evo 3D. Could it be some interference with Jelly Bean?

Go SMS + emoji work fine on my note 2 running stock jb 4.1.2, have you tried disabling/freezing the stock messaging app?

I looked through settings and didn't see anything related. I hope this is something that just requires an app update. I still have at least a week till I will receive my One but if emjoi does't work my fiance will be pissed.

Yeah. It's especially annoying since I had this problem on my LTE. I was hoping that getting this device would fix the problem.

Another odd symptom I just found: my battery drained to 32% after three and a half hours, and GO SMS Emoji Plugin was causing most of the battery drain (61%). Not sure why that would happen.

For those with MMS problems on kitkat

I recently purchased a Straight Talk plan ($45/mo) so I could use my Vivid as a phone. I have consistently been updating my ROM and testing out CM10.x, CM11, RR, PAC, AOKP... Anyway, while using the latest PAC rom, I noticed that I too had issues with sending and receiving MMS messages. Rignfool had previously posted a fix wherein one would download hangouts and use that, but I did not have success with this method (it might have been because I'm on ST as opposed to AT&T, or maybe I've always been flashing hangouts as a replacement default SMS app).
Anyway, I found that in my situation (clean install of PAC rom 8-6-2014 (android 4.4.4), flashing stock pa gapps, and flashing a backup of my user apps made through Titanium Backup), installing 8sms and then choosing it as my default SMS app in settings (just called "messaging" in my case). I made no changes to my APN at this point (my settings APN was Straight AT&T, tfdata), and sending pictures worked without a hitch!
I'm making this thread to discuss any ways to fix/workaround any MMS issues, with the hopes of uncluttering the development threads and actually getting solutions to those with problems.

Hangouts installed as a user app, or as a system app (I assume when you flash the full modular or stock pa gapps it gets installed as a system app)?

i second this.. but only when im using hangouts as my sms/mms app and not the stock messaging app, that works fine on wifi calling. I am willing to bet you are using hangouts too?

Yea likely an APN issue with hangouts and whatever APN the WiFi calling uses, like I said it will work fine in stock messaging but I doubt sprint will help us fix it in hangouts. You can try playing around with your apns in hangouts to see I'd that helps
any fixes?

so I was going through the APN settings on hangouts on my Note 4 and there are quite a few, has anyone figured out the magic one yet? im guessing that itd be the same no matter what device we have...at least I am hoping. it doesn't help that it doesn't have numbers or anything attached to the APNs

I have the same problem on my Nexus 7 (2012) with the latest version of CM12 nightly (01/18/2015). I'm unable to use Swiftkey and have FC with settings.
Yay, okay thank you very much

Speaking of bugs, I am having trouble sending or receiving MMS using the CM12 nightlies messaging app. I had to switch to Textra and that works. I can't figure out why and neither could AT&T. Any ideas?

Oh sorry I should've explained better. That is the fix, but unless you build your own, there's not much to do but just wait for that to get merged. Once it does get merged it'll be fixed in the next nightly after that. If you Co. 0ile your own builds you can cherry pick that into packages/apps/Settings before building.

Oh ok, i guess ill just have to wait then, thank you though
I had the same problem. Tried the fix and it didnt work. Went back stock which is okay but isnt cm12
I really want to install CM12 but I guess I'll have to wait until they iron out the bugs. I am also wondering if any of you guys who installed CM12 can receive calls while the phone's headphone jack is connected to car AUX cables. I can't hear a thing what the other side was saying, but they can hear me fine. Thanks in advance. I experience this same exact bug on stock.
Did you get a different cable and try?

No option. Turn phone off and use plug charging. For some reason, if you use the qi charger, it automatically reboots phone. If phone is off, and plugged in, led turns on. Turn on phone, led disappeared. On Nexus 6, unlocked, 21st build.
There are options now.

MMS/Group Text Issues after Root

I can't seem to get MMS/Group text. When I use the default messenger app, after about 10-15 minutes or 20 texts, all my threads disappear and I can't send any texts. If I restart my phone, everything is there again, but issue reoccurs.
I downloaded 3rd party apps to get around this, e.g. Textra, which worked. Except, I still don't receive MMS/Group Text after about 10-15 minutes or 20 texts in. Then I have to restart just to receive pictures.
I've tried manually inputting the APN and crap, and still nothing.
Any advice? Thanks!!!

^ This is the current ROM i am using, and I dont see any posts about having trouble with MMS/Group Text.
Might have something to do with the modded n5 messages app included in that rom. I would try posting your question in the rom thread to see if others are experiencing same issue.

If you get no response, perhaps consider another n5 rom with more active development and user participation.

Do you have a suggestion? This whole ROM and flashing thing is still new to me.
I've been quietly considering Overdrive's rom but I can't speak from experience since I haven't tried any of them. I would guess Tekhd for customizing and hobby enthusiasts and Overdrive for stability.
