How would you get it off
Oxy-Acetalene
Paint Scraper
Knife
Cheat and use a black marker
Grinder
Sander
Blow Torch
Saw
I'm sure one of these would work.
Glad to be of service
Have a most splendid day.

OK Best way without damaging paint or phone
Probably none if it's embedded in the screen or a surround
If it's applied after production there may be a chance but you would have to search as to what wouldn't damage the screen or the case with what they're manufactured with now.
Failing that.....a cheap Copy that's Blank if they're available?

It's the metal on the bottom of phone by charger port
FCC id
As I've said, unless somebody 'Actually' knows what will remove it without damaging the surface, be it glass, metal or plastic, you need to know what will and what won't affect it chemical wise.
Unless it's been done already it's going to be research

I have the white version, and I can't see the writing at all.
I cleaned the frame with alcohol yesterday, and the writing showed up. I was kinda bummed, because I liked the look without it.
I looked at it again today, and the writing is invisible again.
It looks to be laser etched into the metal. I doubt you'd be able to remove it without removing the finish on the aluminum.
Until the new proposed bill is signed into law here in the US for FCC e-labels, i believe it is currently against the law to remove the FCC label from any device that has one.
Psh who will know lol
Lol against the Law to remove, so if you buy a replacement case that will HAVE to come with one then lol...not going to happen.

Be careful because they are abrasive even if you can't feel it. Don't rub too hard because it can still scratch your phone.

Hey all,
Does someone know a website where I can buy battery covers for my Ace? And with this I mean customs, nothing special, just a plain blue or red one for example, I'm kind of fed up with the standard black one.

It's the day after, and I already put it on my phone yesterday. With the hair spray it simply feels protected, it made the surface somewhat smoother, and gave my phone a weird scent, but that will fade away. Really happy with it, never thought the result would look this good. I'll upload a pic later, everytime I want to upload one now uploading fails

You could try imgur.com
Here it is, still amazed by what €2,- paint and some hair spray can do ^_^.
It's about three weeks later and the paint still is doing very well. Some paint is lost around the edges because I had to take the cover off a few times and by moving the USB plug cover. The hairspray seems to tend to get loose either, but most is still on. It overall still looks great, except for some details as stated above

you should buy some 1k paint lacquer isntead of hairspray, would last longer!
Hey,
After having a blue back cover I decided I wanted something else. First I cut an Android out of paper and sprayed this gold on the blue base coat, which didn't look that bad, but since it's hard to cut something such small out of paper it wasn't as good as I wanted it to be, so after a week I sprayed the complete back cover gold, which I think looks great!

Hello peeps!
I happened to get a big crack a couple of days ago from a nail when me and my dad where doing some work on our roof. Since the crack is on the backside it really isnt disturbing and the insurance wont take I must fix it myself. Since I really dont care how the phone looks on the backside I was thinking of getting some kind of glue-rubber material to make it waterproof and more safe again. Got any ideas what kind of material is good??
Stick some clear silicone in the crack. Get yourself a tube, cut the absolute bare minimum off the tip then apply some very sparingly over the crack. Then tool it off into the crack making sure any excess is wiped away with a wet wipe.
Trust me, I do mastic (silicone) work all day.
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
just send it for repair, even if it's out of warranty it won't be costing that much, these kind of fixes only mess up your phone and warranty.
Ah ok, Ill get that I guess if I go to a special store they will know what to buy? Any special brand you recommend?
Since almost the whole back part is cracked I need to make it all be rubbed in silicon. I thought of making a pretty thick layer so it gets more protection and after that buy a protection case for it

I am removing the beats adio logo on the back of the phone.
I have also heard that a pre-1982 penny takes of the FCC junk, has anyone tried this?
Also, how would I buff out the back to make it chrome?
Acetone (or common nail polish remover) will take off the Beats and FCC logos. as far as buffing it out, I'm assuming you have the silver one? You could try just a basic buffing compound with a cloth applicator on a low speed drill, but I would be concerned about heating things up inside the case. If you have a colored phone, you would actually have to take off a small amount of the metal to get it to a shiny surface, as the annodizing process affects not just the surface, but some of the metal below the surface as well. Also, simply buffing out the back would not make it "Chrome", as chroming is a process where material is added to another surface. Buffing would simply give you a shinier aluminum surface.
Thanks!
I heard that acetone didn't take off the FCC stuff... Have you tried that yourself?

The FCC stuff seems to be etched in so I don't think anything is going to take it "off" maybe be able to sand it out and buff it but I'm not trying that, I did remove the Beats logo though, that was easy.

The clear and black anodizing processes harden the aluminum. If you buffed all the anodizing off then the remaining aluminum material would scratch really easy, so you'd need to anodize it again once you brought it to a mirror finish. And that costs money unless you run a large batch to drop the per piece costs.
And you can't even do all that without removing all the electronics, plus you run the risk that the additional material will change the tolerances. I think you're in over your head, even with a good sized R&D budget.

anodizing adds very negligible material. Literally less than .0005 of an inch. It's not going to change anything in terms of tolerances on this phone.

OK, I agree.
As I reconsider I realize that overall s/he'd end up with less material after stripping, not more material.
Just sand it down with a air tool or by hand nothing messes up , did this to mine and my HTC g2 ,

3 days ago, my N3 took a dive into the toilet and was in it for about 20 seconds (it was on, but asleep). It had the Otterbox case on it, though the bottom flap for the usb cable was open. I took it out, took out the battery and the cards, and put it in a zip lock bag full of rice. That's where it's been for 2 days.
Today, I took it out and placed everything back in and powered it up. Everything went normally, but there is intermittent screen flickering, some very slight, and some very noticeable. So my question is, has it been permanently damaged, or is this normal after being in water? I have taken the battery back out for now. Also, would it be advisable to remove the cover to expose the inside and maybe blow it some more in case the rice dust could be causing the problems?

Well I hope you washed it, before drying it. Ewwwwww! Honestly you should throw it away. At&t insurance, and warranty departments won't touch a device that's been in the toilet and also advise throwing it away.
I think screen flickering after being wet is normal if you're lucky. Usually it goes into brick mode. It may improve over time, or it could get worse? Water damage is sooooo unpredictable.
Since its wet and warranty is screwed, it would be very advisable to tear it apart (gently)! You have nothing to lose now. I'm almost certain there's moisture in there somewhere. It might even be between a connector causing your flicker.
Sorry if I brought ya bad news, and sorry your phone's acting up. I hope it dries out and works. And I also hope it doesn't have any poo bits left in it!!

I definitely agree that the phone is toast. Maybe not today, or tomorrow, but it will never be the same.
However, I believe that AT&T insurance will cover water damage. Warranty won't, but insurance will. I'm not sure if the OP had insurance on it or not, but I just wanted to clarify that point.

I didn't have insurance, as I've never had to use it. I take great care in my phones, and normally have people waiting to buy my old one when I get a new one. Even in this instance, it was a deliberate act, and not an accident.
In any case, I was afraid of that. Thanks for the heads up.

Not to mention, kick that persons ass.
Someone did that to my phone, they'd be going in after it, head first.
Actually, it was the wife in a very pissed off mood. And I can hear & agree with ya on this, but unfortunately the law is on her side. ?
Fortunately for her, I don't have high values on "things". I love my "toys for boys", but they carry no weight when it comes to my family.

If my wife did that to my phone, for any reason, she'd go in with it. I paid MY hard earned money for it. I'm not a child and will not be punished like one.
To the person saying to throw it away. You are insane. All that has to be done is drying the device out completely. And it will normally be as good as it was out of the box. Even if it was completely broken, you don't throw it away. You sell it for parts to recoup some of what you put into it.
I have never thrown a device away after water damage or even after smashing it. There is always something to be made from it. It is a $700 phone. If you want to throw it away, that's you. But don't tell others to do it. Some people don't have the money to just buy another.

People actually buy parts after being treated with toilet water? They are nuts! Or it isn't advertised as a poo ridden device. I don't know why anyone would want to hold poo bacteria to their face and talk on the phone. Yuk! I don't have the money to go buy a new one either. Which is why I got the insurance! So yes. Call me crazy because I will throw this phone away if it falls in the toilet. But I want you to go up to your friends and say "my phone fell in the toilet. Will you make a phone call with it?" And then see if they don't think you're crazy. Lol
Not to sound gross... But there are less sanitary things you probably do several times a day than using a phone from a fresh clean water toilet.
For instance brushing your teeth with your tooth brush.
Seriously those things are one step below the sponge you wash your dishes with.

Stop using phone. Take it apart. Heat motherboard with heat gun. 180 degrees Fahrenheit. (no more then that, use temp gun, don't stay in one spot with heat gun for more then 5 seconds, after heated let sit to cool down without touching it) When finished, clean gentle with acetone and tooth brush(soft kind). Flux and acetone are fine. However, Flux is not needed.
Acetone wouldn't be used on the plastic. Just the mobo. It also evaporates at a faster rate than 97% isopropyl alcohol. It is perfectly safe to use.

Sorry about that. I used the Flux first before heat gun. That way solder don't get dried out. And then the acetone cleans it off. I've never done this on a phone. Have done it on other electronics. (I make sure I use a water proof case) . Sometimes this works sometimes it don't. But as was stated, what's there to lose unless a miracle happened and the phones good. I just know if there's water inside, it won't come out on its own.

Personally I'd just throw it in the rice for a bit--sometimes though, moisture is really stuck at which point I use a vacuum to get it out. Careful of small parts though.
Spilled olive oil all over my phone a while back. Worst thing ever. Vacuum was my only option.

Yesterday the top corner of my phone cracked right next to the circle to the right of the Samsung logo when it fell off my desk. It is not a spider web crack and doesn't affect the actual screen in any way. Is there a resin I would be able to use to patch it safely?

But that wouldn't make the crack go away. Is there a way to do that without replacing the front glass?

What you need is CRACK BE GONE......... LOL
But really you should stop smoking as that doesn't exist. Only way to fix a broken glass is to replace it and that goes for anything...... automotive windshields also. Which is where I think you got the idea of resin from. Resin is supposed to stop or slow it from continuing to spider and getting worse but it does't work on a crack only a chip and it still doesn't get rid of it then either. Nothing removes broken or chipped glass damage.
I guess I just had no idea how automotive resin worked. I'll just have to deal with it and get it replaced if it causes an issue. It's ridiculous that this even happened falling from my desk on to carpet at work.
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
Its possible i guess if u get a winshied repair kit and if its far enough away from the edge but those kits use a suction cup thing to force it in the crack. So if it is near the edge i doubt u will be able to get the resin forced into the crack.
I had a deep scratch and tried some windshield repair resin to try and fill in and it didnt really do anything.

Luck of the draw (or lack of) really. I have had some nasty drops with my note 4 and few minor ones with the note 5. I haven't used a screen protector for the last 3 or 4 phones and 4 years or so. My cases keep getting smaller with this years note 5 being the flimsiest clear spigen that I have ever had. I'm sure my luck will run out but even with my drops it is still ok. All it takes is that one at the wrong angle tho.

Again resin is made not for cracks but more for knicks, rock chips and the like at are small, round and contained. The resin fills the chip and trys to hold it from spidering and cracking all the way across as the windshield flexes. First as you have noticed this is really not a fix, and doesn't work more then 50% of the time. May make it take longer to crack that's a bit unclear.
Even tho this doesn't work very well on a windshield there is even more reasons why this really wont work on a phone. The type of glass, thinness of the glass and being a crack not a chip are all reasons this would never work on the phone (but please post pics if you do. LOL) The vacuum and not sitting in corners is also another good reason, but the resin isn't as thin or runny as you may think and would make way more of a mess on your screen then it would even cover. I'm asumming this is not in an area you touch or I would say I would also think the digitizer might have problems also.

We have had safelite come in and repair windshields on work trucks. I am not saying it would definately work on a phone though

I see Satellites website does advertise they do cracks up to 6" so I stand corrected on that. Thanks

I'm a maintenance manager for transit buses. I have a whole fleet of city buses here in the Los Angeles area. I'm very good friends with my local glass guy that comes out and does repairs weekly. We not only see chips, knicks, cracks, but graffiti and other intentional vandalization. We have strict rules from California Highway Patrol here that we need to repair certain size damage that obscures the view of the drivers.
With the cost of a big bus windshield we have tried them all. They even have buffers that sand and polish the top layer of glass to remove surface damage, but during a demo (to sale us a unit) he cracked the window while trying to remove graffiti as the glass got to hot.
Injecting resin into the chip does not make it go away. I can still tell where it was repaired (depending on the quality it looks less noticeable or obvious) and if I pound my fist on the glass I bet you can tell where it will crack from. It's only a temporary solution to help try and prevent it cracking any further under light or no stress (not me pounding on it).
Ya like u say its just a cover up but if its done right with quality materials it can be almost invisible.
