So I've Received my oneplus 3T today in the mail. Curious about the specs I installed Geekbench 4.
To Discover my OP3T has a snapdragon 820 inside clocked at 2.19 Ghz instead of a snapdragon 821???
Am I going insane or is this a Huge fU up on oneplus their end? I already own a OP3 So why pay more for same specs!?
It feels like I've actually been scammed.
FYI: Yes I've purchased it from their official website OnePlus.net

I'm pretty sure I read that It's because the model number is the same as the op3, and the app uses this model number to look up the spec list, which pulls the 3 and not the 3t since it existed prior to the 3t release.
This has been brought up before a few times on the Oneplus reddit.
Mine also reports correctly as an 821 on Aida64 and CPUZ.
use aida64
Both the SD 820 and 821 share the msm8996 model designation so that may be where the chip detection is not accurate.
3.5.4 is only for the 3T, so you have a 3T.
Those apps work from a database and not reading the actual components. As the 3T is also A3003, those apps "think", it is a 3, but it's not.
What display Panel ID is AIDA64 showing for you guys? Is it the same Samsung s6e3fa3 from the OP3 or is it the s6e3fa5?
Same for battery... Some apps show 3000 (from database), others 3400 (from reading system). AIDA shows both
how's the brightness? I saw 3 and it was very dim even on max brightness. I was hoping it will be better in 5, but looks that didn't happen...

Just look at your phone color, if it is gunmetal then its 3T
Mine shows "QC_Reference_Phone" for some reason, don't know why...
Use something that doesn't pull info from a database instead pulls the info off the device. Like AIDA64

I was on the same boat as you. I bought mine from Swappa and was FURIOUS when I saw that. Almost gave the person a bad review because I thought they had sold me the 3 instead of the 3T.
What I used was AIDA64 to confirm that the CPU, camera and battery.
CPU = Snapdragon 821
Camera = 16mp
Battery = 3400
If your specs are like that then you're golden. Kind of annoying that they didn't even bother changing the model number lol
Hi Guys, are You speaking about "Mi Mix 2 is the new Mi Mix"?
WRONG!
Mi Mix 2 is just a new version of Xiaomi Borderless smartphone.
At the end of march/first days of april, Xiaomi will have an event to show a new device:
XIAOMI MI MIX 2+ (Mi Mix 2 Plus)
same design of the Mi Mix2 but with 6,4" Oled display.
Other technical features:
94,3% display area
Qualcomm 945 (not confirmed)
8Gb ram
256Gb memory
MicroSD + Wireless Charge (we all hope....)
Miui 9 with Android Oreo
same NOT good camera like Mi Mix/Mi Mix 2 (but with 4k 60fps Video) :crying:
*Source internal worker, confirmed from gearbest friends

It's going to be the Mix 2S, not the Mix 2+. So it wasn't true. It's not going to be a 6,4inch screen.. This guy probably just summed up some specs he made up which seemed likely to happen in a newer model. (SD 945, really??)
wtf u can do with 8 gb ) ...maxim 6 gb is enough to make the rutine of the day. And second, version with 8 gb ram is not everywehere disponible. so guys, if u want more sofisticate, buy a laptop and when u want to go somewhere, throw it in ur asssss ))

He was just as accurate as most of the "leaks" on the tech websites when it comes to upcoming models. The fact that he did it a month after the original came out is quite commendable. Good for him. You need to chill.
Mix 2S made official today https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-launches-xiaomi-mi-mix-2s-qualcomm-snapdragon-845/
So which after seller usually has it first?
I wonder if it will be compliant with Project Treble
I that case may be it could be worth to change mimix2 to mimix2s....
I thought any phone that comes with Oreo is project treble by default?
Its a shame it only does 4k video recording at 30fps

Nope. Samsung videos are unbeatable according to reviewers. Photos might be better on the mi8.
It has a 105 dxomark for photo. Video dragged it down.
Also, techtablets made a video on the mi8 vs op6, the audio recording capabilities of the mi8 are very very bad (might be a software issue). You should check out that video.

You can't freeze the action using auto mode. Sometimes you get lucky. The auto mode of Huawei Mate 10 is quite good and the phone can take good action shots.
The reason why I didn't get this phone is I can't get K9 mail to work unless you use the global ROM. With the Mi 8, K9 works but only sometimes. It's a step up from my Mate 8 though except for the manual mode. Might have to use the global ROM too but unlocking the boot loader takes a long time!

The most expensive will be the explorers edition with a transparent back and an in-display fingerprint sensor, also with a smaller battery (3000mah).
I'm in HK and for me here the mi8 is a lot cheaper. You can just check their website and compare prices.
Mi 8 6gb + 128gb = HK$3,699
Mi mix 2s 6gb+ 128gb = HK$4,399
Mi mix 2s uses ceramic on the back I think that's why it's more expensive.
The explorers edition is not out yet so no prices on that.
The lowest end which is the mi8 se has an all together different design and a different chipset(snapdragon 710), first released on this phone itself.

It's not the same camera modules in Mi 8 SE. So as I wrote, no. Mi 8 and Mi 8 EE have the same.
As i was getting different information through different sources regarding the camera sensor and storage type, i decided to directly ask Xiaomi itself. I reached out to Xiaomi india customer services and asked them about which sensor is used in RN8 and what storage type (eMMC or UFS) does it have. They answered my email query saying that it has a sony imx586 sensor and UFS type storage, and not once but they said that twice, as i asked them similar questions from different email IDs and with atleast a week's gap. Idk why but i want to believe them but i couldn't. See for yourself the email reply that i received (image attached or link). One thing is for sure that this is the most official information out there compared to those random sources. Tell me what do you think.

I'm saying that i don't completely trust Xiaomi customer service's reply. But then if Xiaomi customer service isn't reliable enough then how do you know that the "Device info HW" app is reliable. I think the app isn't showing you information based on the detection of components. It just detects which device you are using and gives the data that it has about the device to you. And that data might me as random as from any other source. I know that the app isn't reliable enough because it's showing that my display resolution is 2340x1080 while it's officially 2280x1080 (precisely). So if had done the detection of each components of the device it would have shown the correct resolution value. Also it's showing the wrong value pixel density of the screen. You can check the real value on mi.com in the specifications section. At this point i really have no idea about who to trust.

What I'm thinking is that does that app really detects the components of your phone individually and then tells you those information from there or does it just detects on which device it's currently running and then shows you the most prevalent information that the app maker have in their server? I think it's most probably the second one. Because check the display resolution reading that this app tells you, it'll show 2340x1080 while actually it's 2280x1080(officially). If it had done the detection of components then it would have shown the correct information. So i think these apps are also not reliable.

You may be correct (GM1 not GM2), it definitely is a Samsung sensor though (as seen through built in CIT)
I'm pretty sure they listed the Redmi Note 8 PRO specs instead of the normal N8 for you.
The app detect the components from what the device reports it's components to be. And Redmi note 8 does not have UFS or the Sony Sensor. Most likely they were referring to the note 8 pro since it it has both those things. And Xiaomi's own spec sheet for the note 8 says the resolution is 2340*1080, which is most likely what the phone is reporting the maximum resolution to be. The camera sensor is debatable as @jc9896 showed that the CIT reports that GM1. These apps aren't perfect but they give you good identification for what the components are

AFAIK only system apps have access to all camera info. Most 3rd party apps will not show the other cameras (wide, macro, depth) info. This leads me to believe that only the built in CIT app (tap on kernel version 5 times) will show the most accurate info about the sensors, display, cameras etc.
Well then, i guess I've been scammed by Xiaomi.

Well there is a reason most apps have to ask for camera permissions so that they can read the specs of the camera. Obviously the CIT is gonna give the most accurate information. And the CIT doesn't give much information on the specification of all the cameras besides just a the name, which apps like Aida64 shows the focal length. When you got on Sensors section of Aida64 it shows the sensor information in real time, it shows the information being updated as you move your phone around, these apps read the information from you phone. These apps would be huge if it had to save all the information about each new device. Anyway this wasn't the main point, this phone doesn't have Sony or UFS.
Can someone with indian note 8, go into CIT and screenshot their info it would be really great, since most sites online say that rn8 is with gm2 and cit says otherwise.

I'm late to the conversation, but same here! I'm using the Indian version btw. After a bit of Googling, if it's the GM1 according to Samsung's website it's not true 48 MP, just 12 MP Could it just be faking the 48 mode or something? Does AIDA64 use info from a server or something? Whatever, I trust inbuilt info more than a third party app
