I wish somebody would put together a collection of firmware and root methods in a thread and sticky it so it could be easily found or searched for.

...alright but I'm looking through you instructions and seeing as I am a scrub at a bit of this stuff, I do not know what "you must first flash the NE3 kernel through Odin" means.

oh btw if u dont like this post u can delete
and my imei is not working
Link does not work even if I cut and paste and remove the space between .com. If this isn't a hoax then a correct link address would be greatly appreciated. Also, how do you know you have root and do you have an S4 Active?
EDIT: Never mind, I found the video and it is not for the Active. Nice try, but make sure you know what and where you're posting next time.

dud i have the active and is working fine i have the att i537
Then why didn't you post in the existing thread? There is a lot of confusion if you read the comments for that video. For some it worked, for others it didn't, but I didn't see anyone say it worked on their i537. This is not really helpful if even you don't know what you did to get it to work.

In the title of this thread you say you rooted MI2. This was already achieved months ago; MI2 is a pre-release. What we are struggling to find is root for ML2 which is official 4.3 firmware for the i537.
I think you need to do a little more reading about the different firmware.

Thank you thats what I kinda figured. Thanks for clearing that up. Hopefully they figure a way to root it.
Figured that's what the deal was.
I believe that you can odin back to 4.4.2 NC2 without issues and then towelroot and safestrap. Follow the thread in general section.

Do you know if this method works for Verizon? Im total stock on 4.4.4
I am thinking about getting the nexus 6 this week. I have looked around this thread and have some questions.
1. Is the bootloader for the Verizon nexus 6 unlockable? (If so, please add a tutorial link)
2. Does Xposed installer work with this device?
Thanks

1. Yes, the same way as every other Nexus device, so just read the stickied guides at the top of this section.
2. Yes and no. It works on 5.0.x but not on 5.1.x, which is what your device came preloaded with. I'm not sure what parts of your firmware can/can't be downgraded if you really want to roll back to 5.0.x to use Xposed, so maybe someone else will chime in with those specifics.

I certainly would like to roll back to get Xposed. Also what roms do you recommend for this device? And could you link how to root/install custom recovery? Thanks!

As @joshm.1219 said, read the sticky roll up thread at the top of this forum. All the answers you're looking for are within that thread. :good:

Do you know where I could find how to downgrade from 5.1 to 5.x.x? I really would want Xposed installed!

If you downgrade from 5.1, do not revert your bootloader. Downgrading bootloader from 5.1 to 5.0.1, then eventually back to 5.1 could potentially lead to a brick.

What if everything is stock? No root or anything? What would the safe steps be from there?

My first suggestion would be to use the search function provided by XDA. As I'm sure you suspect, all of this information is out there waiting for you to find it.
Look through the Q&A forum. I'm sure you'll find answers there.

It's OK to downgrade system.img and boot.img. Just don't downgrade your bootloader. Unless you never want to go back to 5.1.

No need to be sorry for anything at all. Except, maybe owning a Samsung lol!

You'll find, that there's a guide written, for pretty much everything you want to do. The steps are simple and fast. Just read the relevant threads and be sure you know what you're doing. Once you unlock your bootloader, leave it unlocked. Flash recovery and root and have fun!

This guy does a ton of rom reviews for our phone on YouTube http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2992769
Can someone please help me find the thread on how to downgrade from 5.1 to 5.0.2? I have looked everywhere and haven't found anything. Plus I'm new to unlocking (came from samsung) and I certainly don't want to mess anything up

Since you're unlocking and getting a custom recovery anyway, all you have to do is flash a 5.0.2 rom and 5.0.2 kernel. Most devs have updated past that, but you can find links to their older builds usually from the same download folders.

I would suggest that a little bit of patience might be in order here. Xposed is very popular, and I can't imagine that it would be more than a couple of weeks before it's functional on 5.1.
Hello Team...Im new in your club...Until 1 year ago i was Samsung user but i want to change to Nexus 6.. I very huppy of my choise but before 6.01 version...I was rooted until i try to flash original firmware again...
Now my nexus updated to 6.01 MOB30I and i cant find any guide of root.
Can anyone anyone help me ?
Thank you!
25 views and no answers? I wonder if that's because nobody can quite believe that you've searched for "Nexus 6 root" and can't find any guides...
Try it and then come back with questions.
Download chainfires su 2.71 and install it.

and i stopped commenting against root toolkits. many noobs will just use them, without feeling the need to learn anything. it doesnt make sense for me to bash those posts anymore. we are all people, and we will do things however we feel we need to do things. so, if a root toolkit works for you, enjoy its use(first time ive ever said that)

They say the galaxy s6 has a locked bootloader. There appears to be a way to do a tethered root if your on 5.0.1 I think but no way to root anything after that because of the locked bootloader from everything I have read in these forums.
If you do a forum search for rooting the S6 you can read deeper into the issue.
