Swype is a incredibly awesome input method, i am addicted and i dont plan to EVER EVER LEAVE. But there are a few things that urk me about it.
#1 How come double tapping words only works in landscape mode to bring up the word choice menu?
If this was fixed, it would make my life and my #2 woe out of commission.
#2 Is there ANY WAY to remove hard coded words in the swype dictionary like
"Dint", i am SICK OF SEEING THIS POP UP. I want to type dont and 90% of the time it is dint. Yes, i know i can choose to type do not, but... its the fact of the matter here.
These are just the 2 things that are really bothersome to me at this point. I would really like to have full access to the user dictionary instead of just words we added.
I think you can get to the user dictionary through:
Settings -> Language & Keyboard -> User dictionary
...Or swype over "d-o-n-'-t" with the apostrophe. Problem solved, plus people will think you're even more intelligent than they do already!

that just accesses the android user dictionary not the swype one.
I agree that the it needs more control over the user dictionary. Sometimes it keeps coming up with really unusual words ahead commonplace ones. It also frustrates me that every time I update the android OS I have to reinstall swype and none of the user settings or custom words are saved. I have to start from scratch each time.
Ya, I'm used to spelling "dont" and having the phone auto correct it to "don't". With Swype, I have to use the apostrophe to get it to recognize the right word.

Hello,
According to the swype developers, the double click feature for word selection is something that require OEM integration - which is why the beta version lacks it. In landscape though, the text entry box is actually part of the Swype object, which is why in that mode the double tap feature works.
Dictionary wise, all i know is they use there own custom one - Not sure you can really do much with in the official swype versions "/ Could always put a plus vote towards swype using the main android dictionary on there usersvoice account?

yeah, reinstalling is getting old lol, even my titanium backups dont restore properly. its probably so they can keep them in the beta status and expire at some point. i wish i could just buy it already and it would be in full release, i would easily pay 10-20 bucks for this.

All I do is select the word, or put the cursor into the word, then hit the swype key and that brings up the word choice menu

No chance, it is only going to be sold to OEM. It will not be on the market.
Kinda sad that we cannot access the dictionary. I dont see why the double tap correct works in landscape and not the other. Is there any developers out there that can change it, or are we not messing with swype anymore? The code is obviously there, and i know it would be something a TON of people that would want.
So occasionally when using swype I will come across a word that I didn't add to the dictionary that prevents me from typing the word I want. This normally isn't a big deal because accidentally adding misspelled wordsmto the dictionary isn't highly uncommon.
However, the same words have been showing up even after I delete them, and on different ROM's. The same words have appeared on licensed and standalone apk's that I have used of swype. Some of the words are "jarur" and "pau", and I find it really unlikely that I keep typing these exact words and then accidentally add them to the dictionary.
I was wondering if anyone else was having the same problem?
Also, is there anyway to directly edit the swype dictionary? Or do I have to just find the accidental words as I come across them?
Hi.
When typing (i'm mostly using the keypad keyboard, (to large hands ) whenever i see that there is an word not in the dictionary, i would like to add it, and in the same time correct whatever the phone allready has suggested..
Here's the thing... i can not find an easy way to do it... now i have to mark the word and press/hold to get the menu to add it to the dictionary.. this alone is a bit enoying, but if its a completely different word, and i correct it in the popup box, when i hit ok, it does not insert the word i just corrected, but leaves the word i originaly typed... so then i have to delete the word, and type again... this seems a bit unnessesary..
Anyone know of a better way?
Stock rom, stock LG keypad/keyboard
+1, i'd love to have the ability to import, say, text files and let the dictionary picks it up from that.
I want to develop an app that do this:
when it recognize a unique pattern of words it's will add stuff *around* the word ("scoring the word")
lets say the word is "שלום" (Hello in Hebrew) i want the glass to add around it "שָׁלוֹם" (it's signs that help children read this word correctly) .
is this possible?
if so can you give me some example code that do something like this so i will have a starting point?
Is there any way to get the predictive text to suggest punctuation like the keyboard did no my old S5? Also how do I tell the keyboard to let me type "shop" without forcing the text to be "pshop"?
Additionally, I see no way to edit the personal library of words or to clear all the learned words since maybe it learned a miss type or 2.
