Nexus 4 Camera Reboot - Nexus 4 General

Work in progress(Rev1) Fix for the Nexus 4 Camera Reboot Issue
Hi guys, i did post this in the forum of the nexus 4 reboot issue but I thought it might of been better to make a new post for this. If you are having reboot issue due to the camera I'd say continue reading and install the port down below.(This was my first port, so it may be buggy)
Okay so this should be a complete port but im not sure how well it will run because its using the nexus 4 jelly bean 4.2.2 camera components. I'm NOT sure if this build is stable after the port but its worth giving it a try.
Install of .zip! (Back up every things! Will wipe all data!)
Warning, By installing this file means I'm not responsible for any damage that MAY happen.
1. Download zip from my dropbox(link down below)
2. Back up data!
3. Must have an unlocked bootloader, root and custom recovery!
4. After you have done step 1-3 you may now begin by entering into the recovery
5. Depending on the recovery you are using, find wipe cache partition and wipe
6. Now find wipe dalvik cache, and wipe
7. You should see an option that say "wipe data partition" this will delete EVERYTHING on your phone so BACKUP. And wipe that partition as well
8. Repeat step 5-6 to make sure you are not going to have problems
9. Go to install zip, then install zip from sdcard, and from there go to /0 partition and find the zip you downloaded from my dropbox.
10. Now you can install the zip and then repeat step 5-6 again.
11. That is everything! you should be able to boot in to android 4.4.4 setup screen and the camera should be fix.
If you are not able to boot into the screen either because of a boot loop go to googles website download android 4.2.2 stock and the nexus tool kit found on the xda forums, and restore using that with the box checked "softbricked, Bootloop" and then search for the file download from google and continue.
Please leave a reply if something is wrong or the port did not work! I'll try my best to help fix it!

This isn't the right place for a FIX, this must go on General or apps thread.

I think that this is not a FIX, it should be a stock KitKat rom with the camera driver from 4.2.2

[I9020T][ROM][STOCK]Nexus S Android 2.3.1, Build GRH78 Factory Firmware

Please read this post in its entirety before downloading and flashing.
THIS IS FOR I9020T ONLY! IF YOU DECIDE TO GET BRAVE AND TRY THIS ON AN I9020A, I9023 OR D720, MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED TO ANY PHONE BY USING THIS ROM.
YOU MUST FLASH THIS ROM USING CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY. THIS WILL NOT FLASH USING THE STOCK ANDROID 3E RECOVERY AS THE ZIP FILE IS NOT SIGNED. I HAVE NOT TESTED IT ON OTHER RECOVERIES.
This is probably more for posterity now than anything else, however I have created a CWM-flashable full on ROM for the Nexus S Gingerbread firmware, version 2.3.1, build GRH78. This is built exactly the same way that the full OTA ROM packages for 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 were built.
Some notes:
1. Flashing this ZIP will remove ClockworkMod Recovery on first boot. Android 2.3.1 introduced a script that automatically overwrites alternate recoveries with the stock Android 3e recovery each time you reboot your phone. The script is located in /system/etc/install-recovery.sh. If you root the ROM, you can rename this file to avoid flashing the stock recovery on each reboot.
2. Flashing this ZIP will overwrite your bootloader and radio, restoring them to I9020XXJK1 and I9020XXJK8 respectively. These are the versions that came stock with GRH78.
3. GRH78 is receiving OTA updates. As of this writing, the latest version of Android is 2.3.4, and Google is pushing an OTA update for 2.3.1 to 2.3.4.
4. This ZIP will NOT clear your user data or cache. For users running a stock ROM, I would highly suggest clearing your data and cache manually as sometimes downgrading without clearing data and cache can cause problems. If you are coming from a non-stock ROM, you are required to clear your data and cache or the ROM will not boot.
5. Since writing NFC tags wasn't introduced until GRI40/2.3.3, the Tags app is read-only.
6. There is no video chatting through Google Talk. This feature was not introduced until GRJ22/2.3.4.
Instructions:
1. Download the Stock GRH78 ROM package here.
2. Copy it to the root of your USB storage.
3. Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery (or flash it).
4. Select "Install ZIP From SD Card"
5. Select "Choose ZIP"
6. Find the ZIP file and select it.
7. Wait for it to finish.
8. Wipe data and cache (optional but HIGHLY recommended for stock ROM users and REQUIRED for non-stock ROM users)
9. Reboot and have fun.
Reserved...just in case.
Hello,
I tried your ROM with my Nexus S (I didn't know the version exactly) and I have now a black screen and the phone won't boot or show me anything =(

Yes I know, I'm a dumb ass.
I have only access to fastboot (via Terminal only).
Try flashing Clockwork Mod Recovery with fastboot.
fastboot flash recovery.img
I did but I even don't know if I can boot into the recovery because the screen stay off.
Can you get to the bootloader? If you don't even see the bootloader screen, you may have bricked it.
I managed to fix it using ODIN.
Thanks.
Congrats Glad you got it working.

[Q] I need a tip for ROM with specific req..

Hi guys..
I am a SW developer spending 100 % of my time with company's projects, with absolutely no time to crawl forums like this anymore.
My house mate approached me to help him with his crashing GALAXY S I.
I figured ok, lets refresh my skills.. So pls advice, for me there is really no reason to make it the hard way ie. crawling the forums for hours an hours for proper answer. I will rely on your competent knowledge of the problem.
I need a
1) the latest possible stock Jelly Bean ROM (from nexus etc..) without any fancy additions UI wise, lets make it an original Android experience. IT can be enhanced however in terms of speed and stability. If jelly bean is a no go, the something older, but 4.0
2) A step by step guide how to install it.
For me the best JB ROM for the I9000 is SlimBean!
You can find the download and the install instructions here:

The ROM looks nice but the instructions are useless.
1) Get yourself booted with cm9 or cm10.
What is cm9/cm10?
2) Enter CWM.
What is CWM
3) How to wipe data?
4) How to flash the rom?
K.
Hey man,
Yeah, sometimes following rom flashing instructions can be hard :L
1.) CM9 and CM10 respectively are CyanogenMod9 and 10. CM9 is ICS (4.0), and CM10 is Jelly Bean (4.1). CM10.1 is Jelly Bean 4.2. They're all roms based around stock Android, and often roms recommend flashing in CM roms first just to make sure things don't screw up.
2.) CWM is short for ClockWorkMod. Its a type of recovery that needs the phone to be rooted (if you don't know hoe to root it feel free to ask) Here you can flash roms and other mods and so on.
3.). Wiping data can be done from within ClockWorkMod. Once you boot into recovery, there'll be two options: Wipe Data and Wipe Cache. Go to each one and select Yes once prompted to. Then go to the Advanced Menu and select Wipe Dalvik Cache, then select Yes.
4.) On the main menu for CWM, there'll be an option that says Install Zip from SD. Make sure you have the SlimBean rom on your internal SD.
Scroll through the internal files until you find the zip file for the SlimBean rom. Select it, it'll ask you to confirm. Say yes. Then the rom will start flashing.
There's probably something in there you might not understand- but I tried to just answer your questions, rather than explaining every little thing... If there is something in there you don't understand feel free to ask

I appreciate your answers and help. It seems to be a bit recursive. In order to install this MOD, I need to install that MOD So I went to the cyanogenMOD website to find the ROM and instructions. Its'puzzling and totally strange , that they do not have ANY instructions on how to install CM10. What is that? Some strange mind game? If I would produce dozens of ROM for dozens of devices, why would I not post installation instructions? Try to put "install" into the searchbar on the site. You get nonsense.
Hahahaha I get you man. First time I tried installing CM10 I was so confused as to what to do (after going through about ten different tutorials...) that I said "Nahh, screw it" and tried it myself :L
This is how I do it:
Make sure that you have the CM10 zip file on your internal SD.
Also make sure that the phone is rooted. Most people reccomend that the phone should be running XXJW4 (I can link you if you'd like), rooted.
1.) Turn off the phone. Boot into ClockWordMod using the three button combo (vol. Down, Home, Power)
(Optional step; nandroid backup. In CWM there's an option for you to back up everything in your current ROM. Its recommended you do so in case something goes wrong, but not neccesary)
2.) Wipe data, cache and Dalvik Cache. I think I mentioned how to do it in my previous post.
3.) Go to "Install zip from SD". Using the volume buttons to scroll and the home button to select, navigate to where the CM zip is. Select it, then confirm.
4.) At this point it'll start flashing. The phone will probably stop and then reboot, then go into a continuous bootloop. DO NOT PANIC. It needs to do this to set up the phone to install everything else.
Just remove the phone battery, insert again, then boot into recovery again.
5.) Like before, navigate to the same CM10 file, select it and confirm. You don't need to wupe data/cache here. This time it'll properly flash in.
6.) Done! just wait for it to boot (might take 5-15 minutes, it needs to set up).
If you are flashing in SlimBean, then the process is much the same. Boot into recovery, wipe data/cache/Dalvik cache, select file, wait.
EDIT: Oooh, and once you flash in SlimBean don't forget to flash in a Google Apps zip. I don't believe SlimBean comes with them.
Pretty much once you flash in SlimBean, wait for the phone to boot. Turn it off, put it back into recovery, same process to flash (no wiping though), except just remember to choose the Gapps file.
Hope I helped make it clear

GT_N7000_SweetROM_V5_base_LSF

Hi,
I've just downloaded the latest ROM "GT_N7000_SweetROM_V5_base_LSF" for my Samsung Note GT-N7000. http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyNote/roms/SweetJB/GT_N7000_SweetROM_V5_base_LSF.ziphttp://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyNote/roms/SweetJB/GT_N7000_SweetROM_V5_base_LSF.zip Could anyone tell me how to install this ROM? Do I have to unzip this RAR-file first? And if so, what then? Could I make use of the program Odin3.
I still am quite new at this and I am always a bit uncertain when upgrading my phone. Again, I really could do with some good advice from one of you guys.
Thanks again!
Robert.

Thank you for your swift reply.
My phone is rooted and therefor I think I have CWM installed. Also, I earlier installed the RAR-file: N7000XXLSZ_N7000XENLS4_XEN, I think I can remember that it was also done with the CWM recovery; It went all smoothly. I know that I didn't have to wipe my phone and/or reset it into factory settings at that time. Is that still the same with this installation? Because I found this video on the internet http://www.cursed4eva.com/multi-window-galaxy-note/, which seems to say otherwise, and now I'm having second thoughts. Are you known to a video that would make it more clearly for me in how to act?
I hope to hear from you soon again.
Thank you,
Robert.

Hi,
I just read these instructions, but I still have so many doubts that I could really do with some extra help. I am sorry, that I sound like a real amateur but that's because I really am in this matter.
Like i said, earlier (a few weeks ago), I've eventually (after so many of my questions having answered by you guys) succesfully rooted my phone by installing the RAR-file: CWM-SuperSU-v0.87. I also succesfully installed the Dutch ROM version: N7000XXLSZ_N7000XENLS4_XEN and I also had to install the RAR-file: PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSZ-OXA-4.88.2-signed.
Now, reading your instructions in the link that you gave me:
1) Make a backup of your current ROM
2) Download Sweet ROM Team V5 and Philz JB Kernel and place on sd or external sd card (remember where you put it)
3) Boot cwm recovery
4) Flash any Philz JB Kernel (after 3.1 cwm) - available here
5) Reboot Recovery
6) Wipe Data/Cache/Dalvik (IMPORTANT)
7) Mounts Storage and Format System, Format Data AND Format PreLoad (IMPORTANT)
8) Flash Sweet ROM Team V5 JB
9) Wait until it says Reboot then Reboot phone. First install will take some time as it is building cache
could I not "just start" from point 5, or would that just not work? I still have the the RAR-file: PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSZ-OXA-4.88.2-signed installed on my ExternalSD-card and I've also placed the SweetRom on my ExternalSD-card...
Am I correct to presume I am losing all my data following this procedure?
Could you please link me to a video where I can watch the whole installation process as my guide?
Thank you again!
Robert,
Netherlands.
Fist take backup of apps , contacts, sms , call logs etc, Then Do follow instruction below
1) Reboot Recovery
2) Wipe Data/Cache/Dalvik (IMPORTANT)
3) Mounts Storage and Format System, Format Data AND Format PreLoad (IMPORTANT)
4) Flash Sweet ROM Team V5 JB
5) Wait until it says Reboot then Reboot phone. First install will take some time as it is building cache

[Q] Galaxy note N7000 root fail...HELP!!!

Im a total novice when it comes to rooting. i did manage to root my N7000, but after a few hours my phone became quite muggy...i rebooted it and on reboot it said "upgrading".
Since then it has been unusable, i did the volume up/home/power button and tried a wipe data....phone still wont respond well. keyboard doesn't work, cant get a signal, and its generally so groggy, its pretty much unusable. i managed a factory reset with phone switched on, still no better.
any help would be massively appriciated

You need to publish some information like how you rooted your phone and which firmware you installed after rooting. ??
Please use CM .. and any of its mod its smooth and safe with less bugs in it .. first publish all these information and i may be able to tell you how exactly you can proceed.

Ok ..
First of all if you have properly rooted your android device with (clockwordmod recovery) or any other recoveries etc you need to have a Rom to flash it through this recovery
It is recommend that you must have safe kernel before flashing any ROM. Please download any of CM10.1 ROM from the link below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1789397
Now Get the ROM for your appropriate device from the link below. Select the device and download the ROM. Use any Stable or Nightly version.
http://www.cyanogenmod.org/
Next thing you need to download Google Apps package called GAPPS. Its latest version corresponding to CM10.1 android version 4.2.2 is on the top of the screen. (20130301) using link below
http://goo.im/gapps
Put all the files to micro SD Card. Since your operating system is not working so you may have to take out SD card and put these downloaded zip files to SD card using jacket or your laptop SD card slot.
Now Switch ON your android device to Recovery Mode by Holding Volume Up+ Power and Home Button together
Do following:-
Wipe data/Factory reset.
Wipe Cache.
Wipe Delvik Cache in Advanced Options ..
Fix permissions.
then go to your SD card and flash all these files in order
Flash the Kernel first and after flashing Reboot Your Recovery.
Now Flash
1. CM 10.1
2. GAPPS
Reboot .. n enjoy your new rooted phone
If you still face difficulty let me know ..

reboot system now
apply update for external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
the delvik cache & fix permissions are not options

Here ur options
Two options with you

I am aware of that,I've already flashed a JB over ICS using this method ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2134192 ),but that was a long time ago,and then i did not need to root my phone or unlock bootloader.
I am wondering if that method is still good,or should i try another one?I have tried to find a thread where there is explained how to flash using cwm or twrp, but was unable to find it so i would be very greateful if someone points me to a thread where there is explanation on how to do that.

After you do steps from 0 to 3 (dont forget to put files into your internal memory), you will turn off your phone, press and hold power and volume down button simultaneously, when LG logo appears, press power button three times while still holding volume down, then you can release everything and you should be into recovery witch should look similar to this http://techbeasts.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/la-foto.jpg. Now you do steps 4-7, in backup and restore (witch is step 4), just press backup and wait a minute or two for backup to complete. Then go back and press install zip from sd card, then navigate to ROMs zip file you downloaded and click it. You will see output screen showing progress... after ROM is flashed, go again to install zip from sd card, this time you will chose gapps zip file. After that, go back, do wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition and in advanced tab wipe dalvik cache. Go back, reboot and you should be done!
IF anything goes wrong with flashing, you will reboot into recovery and go backup and restore, and restore.

Ok,now that I am an "expert" on flashing all kind of things (ROMs,kernels,CWM,etc),I have different kind of questions....
1)With Vanir 4.4.2 latest nightlies and iodak 9.5 or 9.9 (whatever),havent tweek anything and left it be as it is, my battery drain is catastrofic. For example with JB 4.1.2 when I leave my phone overnight it drains 1-2-3% but with vanir it goes to 15-20%....Why is that?
Also, when i leave wifi on with no surfing, couple sms and maybe 1 min of calls it drains 15-20%.And that is with brightness lowered to 50% (on my JB I allways kept it on 100%).
2)Why are my antutu results that much different on vanir and cm11?I've got almost 16k on vanir and barely 11k on cm11.
Your final observation kinda answers the previous questions, it is a performance driven rom and this usually implies less battery life.
On the other hand I can say that your drain seems a little too high, but without some battery stats it's hard to say....
