Hey guys,
I have been using lollipop for a while and it is good but still not that good (stable and stock) now I want to go back to Kitkat again ,what should I do ?
Just flashing new ROM from kryptonite didn't work as it gave error in recovery.
My device is xt1052 , boot loader is 4.4.2 .
Thanks in advance .

You should be able to run a factory reset an then flash kryptonite just fine. If youre still having issues, I'd restore a nandroid if you have one, if not rsd to stock. What error did it give you?

Yes, if you're using TWRP then to perform a factory reset you'd go to wipe and then slide the factory reset slider. Make sure to make a nandroid next time! To restore to complete stock youll need to either need to do it manually through fastboot, or use motorola's flashing utility called RSD Lite (I use version 6.1.5, use google to find this). The site I usually use appears to be unavailable at the moment, so you're on your own finding the sbf file as well. Keep in mind this will update your bootloader and erase all data on your phone (edit the xml file in the zip to avoid this if you want)

Thanks but I don't want to go stock completely ,but just want to use the KK ROM for the time being, otherwise AOSP is the way to go for me.
Just one more question, since you said by flashboot I can flash, can I use this ROM ?..

I have flashed it earlier but just that my internal storage was accidentally wiped out by me.:banghead
UPDATE: Changing TWRP did the trick..

Can Not get to work different roms from here

Hello,
Im writing here because im a newbie here and i dont have enough posts to be able to post in the actual thread under development lol.
My phone is rooted and bootloader unlocked..
I was on stock Att 4.1.1
So far i tried bootanimations and bootlogos and they are good. The problem is flashing custom rooms from here.
The only ones that worked for me are Liquid JB v2.9 and cm 10.2 from epinter..... im trying with PACrom and both of HoloBlur but no luck with them .... the pacrom stays in the infinite loop of the bootanimation.. the HoloBlur at first was looping in the bootanimation but then i did format sd via CWM and now it goes back and forward from bootanimation to "preparing desktop" and something about ASOP keyboard appears, so it keep doing that loop infinitely. I dont know what else to do.... Im flashing them via CWM
thx

I think is already unmounted because the only option says "mount cache"
Are you formatting the system under the mounts and storage option? You could also try formatting data and cache under that option too.
Another possible solution may be to install a stock rom (see Skeevy's thread on stock roms) before installing a custom rom.

Yes im formating almost everything i see under mounts and storage .
Trying to install stock roms is the same problem.
Im charging to full the battery to see if that one of the problems cause was less the 50%
Another thing is im not 100% sure how to install stock roms lol
Using just Rsd Lite and thats it ?
Trying Myth Tool maybe?
Or by using CWM like i tried with the Skeevys Mexico retail?
I pretty sure the answer is right here but everything i read is involving fastboot and adb

Are you using rsd or cwm to flash a stock rom? I have had no problem with flashing a Mexican Retail or Bell stock rom from Skeevy's stock rom page via CWM.You could try flashing via rsd or Myth Tools. Do you have a backup of your original rom?

Also im having a HARD time trying to boot in recovery or in fastboot menu..

I will try later some other roms to see which one will work now lol
Thx for the replies ill be bothering later.

Any custom rom - Boot loop

I've tried in twrp and cwm/cwm touch - I get a boot loop no matter which rom I flash
I made a backup of my stock 404 on cwm and twerp so It's easily reversible in either.
Similar to this post - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45795997#post45795997
It involves flashing Pi-llama 1.4 via adb and then installing the custom rom over the top.
Ran into all sorts of issues, would hang on the third data write, so I cancel it and then it would continue etc... and install
Now I'm up and running I've got half PiLlama and this rom I put on, battery drain is bad and the clock process crashes when I try and set an alarm. Otherwise it's great.
Any ideas? Seems to be the data partition causing the problems.
I'm rooted and unlocked, thought I'd add.

I you want to flash a custom rom just don't wipe data and don't do a format /wipe data
The problem with that is it has previous rom stuff still installed.
I like a clean fresh install of a rom, so no contacts, messages, apps etc...
There is no way to do this without a bootloop.

Boot loop.
Get to the rom boot animation and it does the updating apps then boot loops back to the moto screen and rom animation then repeats until i power off and restore a backup.
Thank you both for suggestions so far. Getting closer to solving

Yes, I'm using cwm. Tried touch and twrp.
Tried the above, same bootloop.
Only works if i leave my stock 404, push pillama 1.4 via adb and then flash the custom ROM over that in cwm.
This leaves residue from 404 and pillama on my phone though.

Does stock 404 mean, you are still on ICS?
If so why don't you flash JB with RSD-Lite and try again installing a custom rom?
Can u make a logcat about it?

So I tried RSD lite with Android 4.1.2 Blur_Version.91.2.26001.XT890.Retail.en.EU
No dice. Failed at 7/16 System_Signed
This royally put me in a bad place. 45 minutes of ADB later, I'm back on my CWM backup of 404.
Gonna clean the logs and start from scratch

I have the same problem and I am on Stock 4.1.2. I have given up and no longer have a rooted phone with a custom ROM. I would, however, be grateful if someone could find a solution
If you are on 404 and trying to get to 4.1.2 you can root your phone then use the following method to unroot and install 4.1.2. You can then root again if you wish.

Thank you will give that a go.
I've got a problem now after trying the official 4.1.2 upgrade which failed miserably, the boot image has changed to the warning unlocked phone bla bla bla
My SMS centre number keeps disappearing stopping texts sending. Receiving and calling work fine. Tried the fixes online but all work for two minutes then it disappears again.
Can't factory reset, just boots back up with everything as it was when it turned off. Can't get into the stock recovery so stuck with CWM or twrp
Any time I flash a rom it boot loops.
Ideas on how I can get a clean official 4.1.2 onto the phone? Re-lock bootloader, remove root and then try?
So locking bootloader and removing root does not work.
I'd advise anyone that doesn't know what they're doing to avoid it.
It pretty much soft bricked my phone.
I've started a new thread in q&a with another issue regarding multi flash in fastboot hanging on the third or fourth download.
Im certain parts of the 4.1 are still there even after formatting everything in cwm and restoring my original backup.
Having network issues, 3g and wifi etc are fine. Sms, calls and anything to do with changing network operator just stops a few minutes after boot. I can still receive fine which is odd.
What's the deal with putting a radio on over an official ROM? Yey or ney

Help Encryption unsuccessful error

So to set the story i had came home and rooted jb via linux method. Then presumed to use bootstrap as a recovery. I installed it and it said success. Then i presumed to change the bootloader unknowing if it was locked. So i reboot and i am stuck at Encryption unsuccessful screen and the only option is to power off or reset. What do i do ive tried to reset but it doesnt work also i tried to do a hard reset via stock recovery this also didnt work im unsure where to go about this problem now. Please help Im panicing! From what ive researched i think its soft bricked. Also there appears to be a fix on House of Bionic but it isnt clear. Lastly, I believe the problem resides with bootstrap but im unsure its just a hunch. All options will be tried.

Its been a while since I have had to do it but you should use RSD Lite and a 4.1.2 hsx file for the bionic. If you google the two you should comeup with the files you will need. Sorry I cant be of more help.
EDIT: So I still have the file you need to flash using RSD Lite (Not sure what version you will need). https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/80936776/cdma_targa_9.8.2O-72_VZW-22_cfc.xml.zip This file is 468 MB.
Now you just need to download RSD Lite. It only works with Windows. Windows XP is probably your best bet.

Yes I believe you did edit it out. However I used a different link. I did get it working and rooted with the help of a linux bootable disc. Also I install safestrap correctly. But ran into a problem. I got cocky and didnt read all the instructions on flashing a rom and accidently flashed it over top of the stock rom so when i boot it loops then goes to recovery. Next i did a factory reset and wipe retried but no luck. So i did the only thing i knew to do was to make a second rom slot and install the backup i made of the stock. Which works fine no complaints. But low on storage how would i go about wiping the stock rom with out doing a complete factory reset through rsd lite again. That way i could just flash my backup on top of stock cause it wont flash properly as is. Thanks in advance

Activate the stock slot, then go to advanced wipe and select cache, dalvik cache and system. Then after the wipe you should be able to restore your stock backup to the stock slot. Then reboot. If it works you can then safely delete the other slot you created.

Back to 4.1.2 official from 4.4.2 custom easy way !!!

Hello , i'm from Romania and i find a easy way to go back to 4.1.2 official from a custom 4.4.2 rom.
I search on internet but i did not find some easy way to install official firmware.
I'm sorry for my english but i hope you will find this thread very usefull.
Ok let's begin:
1. Charge the phone.
2. Open LG mobile support tool official.
3. Turn OFF the phone.
4. Press VOL- and plug the USB cable until you see S/W Upgrade.
5. LG tool will find your phone on 4.1.2. It OK.
6. Go to Options - Country and language and select your country and language.
7. Go to Option - Upgrade recovery.
8. Then the LG tool will search your phone firmware and will automaticaly download latest firmware and install .
9. The phone will reboot, and the logo LG will remain on screen, in my case. Do not panic. Unplug the usb cable and press power button to close the phone.Keep pressing untill is off.
10. Press VOL- and Power to enter recovery mod, do a factory reset, wait for the green robot to finish, restart and then the phone will boot official 4.1.2.
Now you have official 4.1.2 fast and easy.
Good luck !
Thanks for share .I think restore Nandroid backup is easier . With your method you have to reunlook bootloader and to root your phone after downgraded to stock firmware.

Thing is, people often neglect to make a backup before changing ROMs. And don't worry about the bootloader, that one stays unlocked. Root access will be gone though, but that can be a good thing. This is a good method, also very useful for reviving bricked devices quickly and with ease (in which case you have to choose the option 'force update').

Even nandroid backups are useless at times. For example when your internal storage gets corrupted really bad even formatting wouldn't fix it.In this case I've just bricked my phone by corrupting the internal storage for the 3rd time just this week and only LGMsupport can fix it. (even tried makeext4fs command, nothing helps.)
Also you only need to flash a custom recovery, no need to root or unlock the bootloader.

i've always been thinking that using any LG tool to "restore" stock rom automatically remove the root.

I meant you don't need to reunlock your bootloader or root again in order to flash a custom ROM after restoring your phone's firmware using LG mobile support tool.
Using some adb command you can flash recovery from your computer without needing root.
Sorry guys. I'm a bit confused here... Does that method relock your bootloader or not? If it does, I know that there is a limited number of times you can lock/unlock your bootloader. Can someone explain a little more about that? :silly:

reflashing a kdz doesn't relock the bootloader. (which is what this method does)
however, note that this method, as written here will fully wipe your internal sd card. to avoid that, before doing any of this, boot to custom recovery and format system, data, cache & dalvik cache partitions. then proceed as planned, but on step 9, your phone should not be stuck on boot logo, but it should boot into first login screen

Try flashing the bell stock ROM, then Philz, then a custom rom. I assume your phone boots with the stock ROM properly and you receive no errors when flashing a custom ROM.

To clear something up -- does your phone boot after flashing a fastboot? If no, you need to format the internal sd and change it's mount point to /data/media (use Philz CWM to do all that) -- that's a common error after downgrading from a 4.2+ rom to a 4.1.2- rom.

Yep, just boot into recovery and make nandroid backup saved to the external sd before you flash anything (you risk wiping it accidentally if stored to the internal sd). That way if anything goes wrong all you have to do is boot into recovery and restore your backup.

Try flashing a CM11 ROM. I use Validus 5.1 on mine and it's great.

Glad you got it to work. There are other great ROMs out there to use while we wait for the official KK ROM, if it ever comes.
