So I returned to stock Kitkat 4.4..4 and now trying to update to Lollipop but the problem is that I can't get the OTA from updates saying its up to date, and I keep getting the dead android. Thanks for any help.

Hey guys,
I recently sent my N1 in for a screen replacement due to a couple of dead pixels and finally got my phone back repaired. Before I sent it in I had installed the 2.2.1 update. After getting my phone back, I noticed that it is back on 2.2. I expected my phone to grab the update OTA but it doesn't appear to be doing that. I know I can do the manual update, but I noticed that the google link to the manual update also isn't available. Is there a reason for this and is the OTA still available? I did try the "checkin", but that didn't seem to do anything.
Thanks,
Jay
So I didn't read any guides and was following an old YouTube video on how to go back to stock and OTA. Unfortunately the link was for an older version of the Moto X Toolkit and it took me back to 4.2.2 and I accepted the OTA. gg.
I have tried flashing 4.4.4, 4.4.2, 4.2.2 again from fastboot and in the end the result is the same: a flashing dead android popping up every few seconds that says error. After reading the Q/A I think this is a hard brick but has there been any updates on ways to fix this?
I can't USB mount to put in a custom rom either and it won't let me sideload since the USB mounting isn't working. I can flash custom recoveries but that's about it.
Thanks.
Not researching first on any device is a mistake for sure... Especially the X. You've done the procedure that guarantees bricking a Moto X unfortunately.
This thread may be your only hope now...

Good luck!
I looked into this method but couldn't get it to work since it wasn't recognizing the phone when I plugged it in. I did manage to unbrick it somehow by flashing a 4.2.2 version again using the toolkit (post camera I believe). I managed to boot up again in 4.2.2 but not really sure how to upgrade to 4.4.4 at this point without bricking again.
Is it safe to RSDlite to 4.4.4 using the right carrier?
edit:
nevermind... I turned the phone off to check the status of the bootloader and saw it was unlocked, did a normal power up. For some reason it said android is updating even though I didn't do any updates and it randomly turned off and now it's completely dead .
Hello all, so back in December, i was rooted on my verizon lg g2 and i used towelroot to do so. One day i received the ota update on my phone for lolipop and i did so. I went through with the update while on 4.4.2 and nothing happened, maybe because i was on root? Anyway today i got unrooted my phone using the lg mobile support tool and the KDZ method. Now my device is back to stock and i figured i could have gone back into settings and the update would be there waiting for me to install again, but nothing is there. It says the usual "Device is up to date". So now i'm 4.4.2 still and want the lolipop upgrade. However i don't know how to achieve this, as i've restarted my phone several times and nothing will come up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Official LP isn't available for the G2 yet. It's dropping overseas next week or so, according to news sources. There's a custom LP rom, but it's not the official through Verizon.
Hi Guys, call me stupid but I went and did something without researching it all the way, and now i have a major problem.
So, what I did was mistakenly try to install 4.4.4 on my 5.0 device, thinking I could then root and re-install 5.0. Odin gave me a pass, so I booted up my device only to find It wouldn't fully boot, and would then go to recovery boot. I then noticed the large "Do not attempt if on 5.0 already" warning. So what I think I need is the stock firmware for 5.0 lollipop for SM-G900A devices.
Any help relating to the topic, or someone saying I'm looking for the wrong thing, is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

I currently have an LG-D415 running KitKat 4.4.2 that's rooted. I've never had a need to upgrade to Lollipop 5.0 until now. I just bought a new truck that has Android Auto which requires 5.0. My phone has been giving me a message that there's a system update available for quite a while now but I have been reluctant to do it because my phone is rooted and I'm not sure what would happen. Should I just let it do the update or do I need to unroot the phone first. It's been so long I'm not even sure what method I used to root the phone.
If you have rooted phone i recomend you installing latest twrp recovery and flashing lollipop ROM for lg l90d415. the stock ROM van ne found on t
his site
OTA update will fail if device is rooted. If you want to keep root enabled, then follow lgl90 suggestion. If you remove root to update it may work but you will have to root again. A backup is always a good move.
I'm kind of a novice at this so I'm looking for the most painless method of getting Lollipop. I'm not sure I'm comfortable installing twrp and flashing the rom. Also, I've read the bootloader needs to be unlocked which it isn't. Can I use SuperSu to unroot, let the OTA update do its thing and then reroot?
the bootloader is unlocke by deafult on lg l90d415 all you habe to do is download flashify app from play store download the latest twrp for d415 and wipe system, dalvikcache and cache the flash te lollipop stock tom by going to install and chouse the rom file where you have downloaded it inernal or external sd card and the swipe to flash the firsr boot will take maximaly 5-10 minuts .. lollipop is waaay diferent than the kitkat thats why will take to boot longer
So I unrooted the phone downloaded the OTA update and tried installing it. It made it halfway through then the phone restarted without completing the update. The phone is still at 4.4.2 and I no longer get any message to update. When I check for updates it thinks its up to date. When I tried manually updating using the LG Mobile Support Tool it initially said an update was available then changed to the phone is up to date. Why does it think the phone is up to date when obviously it's not?

zagreb - as I stated I'm a novice so I chose the path that I thought would be the easiest. My phone was fully charged so I do not believe that was the reason for the update not completing. Is there a thread or link you know of that provides a step by step (from beginning to end) tutorial of what you're proposing. Thanks for your help.
