[Q] Updating to lolipop- Lg G2 - Verizon LG G2

Hello all, so back in December, i was rooted on my verizon lg g2 and i used towelroot to do so. One day i received the ota update on my phone for lolipop and i did so. I went through with the update while on 4.4.2 and nothing happened, maybe because i was on root? Anyway today i got unrooted my phone using the lg mobile support tool and the KDZ method. Now my device is back to stock and i figured i could have gone back into settings and the update would be there waiting for me to install again, but nothing is there. It says the usual "Device is up to date". So now i'm 4.4.2 still and want the lolipop upgrade. However i don't know how to achieve this, as i've restarted my phone several times and nothing will come up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Official LP isn't available for the G2 yet. It's dropping overseas next week or so, according to news sources. There's a custom LP rom, but it's not the official through Verizon.

I'm with you. Not going to apply it. Can't seem to get rid of the "software update is available" notification.... Any tricks for this?
Update....
Seems it attempted to install itself last night when plugged in. It failed, said I was rooted *gasp* and now the notification is gone Hurrah!

The only thing that I know of is that it will not update if the battery is low. LOL. Other than that, I do not know how to stop it as I understand updates are forced after denying them 3 times. I could be wrong.
Sent from my LG-D950 using Tapatalk
Got the notification this morning and denied it. Froze the OTA in Titanium Backup so it didn't try and apply the update later.
I tried to update, but I got an error saying my phone was suspected of being Rooted.
has anyone un-rooted and then installed the update and then rooted it again?
*********ALSO********** Could someone upload the new APN Settings ? either in this thread or a new one?
I'm rooted but stock and took the update fine and keep the root... Luck maybe?
Same here @yuckycool. It auto updated, but root persisted.
Auto update and kept root as well. Towelroot method everything else stock.

I successfully went back to stock, then rooted with iroot, and immediately took the ota update. Root confirmed retained and working.

sdcard error. had that with my lg g2. get a new sim card and factory reset it should be fine after. sucks but thats the only way i found to fix it

[VZW] Do you need to be rooted to flash to stock?

I never rooted/rom'd my LG G2.
That being, said I have experience doing this (with a nexus 4 phone).
Ever since the 4.4.2 I have had non-stop random crashes/reboots. I've pretty much just suffered through it without any luck. I have factory reset multiple times and with the most recently released update I receive the error (0x1111004) during the install. I emailed LG and of course they want me to send my phone in (I HATE LG's customer service).
Can I just flash 4.4 files to my phone without rooting and then just (hopefully) successfully update to the newest version?

Follow the return to stock guide in the General section then let the phone take the OTA's to get to the latest version.
You will lose root doing this, if you need root, re-run ioroot before taking the 25B update then it should stick fine.
Thanks!
You don't have to be rooted.
You just put your phone into download mode, download the software, connect up, and flash.
You don't have to be rooted as previously stated. Just follow the guide it's very easy to do and you can upgrade to latest stock version.

Rooted kitkat to new 5.1.1 release help

Have n901t. Rooted it after being talked into 5.0.1 by Tmobile rep trying to improve it. No good. So went back down to KitKat and rooted that. Obviously I cannot receive ota update for 5.1.1 now. Do I just get the stock file and flash with the phone as it currently is? Or should I flash KitKat back to it's un rooted state before updating phone? Am still a novice in the taking control of your smart phone world and would rather not brick something if it can be easily avoided. Thank you.

You could get the official software and use odin to install it but there are a couple of things you need to be aware off. First once you upgrade to 5.1.1 you cannot downgrade back to kit kat and you will be stuck on that version, secondly in order to achieve root you might need to install a custom kernel before rooting. For that last part I would suggest you hit the forums since there a couple of posts about rooting this new version.
don't know if I am ready to start messing with kernals yet. Am patient. New root will show itself before we know it. Did the update through Odin. So far smooth sailing. Tested Simpsons tapped out since with 5.0.1 it lagged so bad it was unplayable. Still not as smooth as it was on KitKat but can still play it at least. Haven't tinkered with anything else yet.
Personally I'm waiting it out. I don't like not being able to go back, and I've had 0 luck with 5+.. So I'll wait until someone "fixes" it, if ever.

Need Update Advice (KitKat to Lollipop)

I currently have an LG-D415 running KitKat 4.4.2 that's rooted. I've never had a need to upgrade to Lollipop 5.0 until now. I just bought a new truck that has Android Auto which requires 5.0. My phone has been giving me a message that there's a system update available for quite a while now but I have been reluctant to do it because my phone is rooted and I'm not sure what would happen. Should I just let it do the update or do I need to unroot the phone first. It's been so long I'm not even sure what method I used to root the phone.
If you have rooted phone i recomend you installing latest twrp recovery and flashing lollipop ROM for lg l90d415. the stock ROM van ne found on t
his site
OTA update will fail if device is rooted. If you want to keep root enabled, then follow lgl90 suggestion. If you remove root to update it may work but you will have to root again. A backup is always a good move.
I'm kind of a novice at this so I'm looking for the most painless method of getting Lollipop. I'm not sure I'm comfortable installing twrp and flashing the rom. Also, I've read the bootloader needs to be unlocked which it isn't. Can I use SuperSu to unroot, let the OTA update do its thing and then reroot?
the bootloader is unlocke by deafult on lg l90d415 all you habe to do is download flashify app from play store download the latest twrp for d415 and wipe system, dalvikcache and cache the flash te lollipop stock tom by going to install and chouse the rom file where you have downloaded it inernal or external sd card and the swipe to flash the firsr boot will take maximaly 5-10 minuts .. lollipop is waaay diferent than the kitkat thats why will take to boot longer
So I unrooted the phone downloaded the OTA update and tried installing it. It made it halfway through then the phone restarted without completing the update. The phone is still at 4.4.2 and I no longer get any message to update. When I check for updates it thinks its up to date. When I tried manually updating using the LG Mobile Support Tool it initially said an update was available then changed to the phone is up to date. Why does it think the phone is up to date when obviously it's not?

HI i told you what is the best solution to update your phone.. you could successfuly hard brick your phone(why did it not update well you didnt had enough of battery life) do what i told you so the best solution is to download the official lollipop rom for lg l90 d415 its same stock rom from lg but it comes pre rooted and all of that good stuff

zagreb - as I stated I'm a novice so I chose the path that I thought would be the easiest. My phone was fully charged so I do not believe that was the reason for the update not completing. Is there a thread or link you know of that provides a step by step (from beginning to end) tutorial of what you're proposing. Thanks for your help.

rooted LS991ZV6 and OTA

was wondering, if im rooted on v6 (5.1) and looking to ota to marshmallow (6.0) can i ota without error? since sprint came out with ZLTE its in the update from what i understand. friend got replacement yesterday of same phone. seems to be quicker and better signal. or anyone recommend a 6.0 rom?
i do plan on doing the wifi teather before updating. is that trick still working?
second, if not worth it how easy to downgrade again? last time i rooted it was very different than just using odin or a single app. has the rooting method changed at all? i was able to upgrade and then downgrade again, but was very uncomfortable doing it, and i have flashed a few phones in my day.
thanX in advance.

Unless something has changed u cannot update no root available after zv6. And if u get to zvb i believe u cannot downgrade. Ive hd mine on zv6 since day on and will not upgrade. Roots the only thing keeping me from getting rid of this thing
Ive seen a few posts about downgrading from marsh back to lolipop. Unless i was reading it wrong.
But having no root isnt my cup of tea either. Seeing alot about root and the H815.
