System won't wrote to SD card despite flashing the SD fix. - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed the SD card fix from the root thread and followed the instructions to the letter--I've flashed 3 other roms so far and I am STILL having the same issue. True Skate deletes itself. Spotify deletes the music it downloads after I close it. Makes no sense! Any ideas?
Appreciate you all in advance!

Most Roms have this built in. Do a full wipe and try again.

Also try formatting the card.

Best of all. What ROM?

Good looking out! I just tried to reformat the card and it keeps failing. I am using a SanDisk Class 10 64GB card. Ordered a Samsung class 10 64GB and should arrive before 9PM today thanks to Amazon.

Just flashed rapture. It all worked fine. Something must of got screwed up on one of your flashes at one point. Personally I would revert back to stock with Odin and start from scratch. Once you have issues it only gonna get worse. Back to stock I go. First phone I am happy with stock with.

Same issue here....
I am using Dynamic Kat and I can access the SD card fine but certain apps cannot. Card was formatted but I did not re flash yet. I will give that a try.
Thank you

It a horrible process lol. But at times it a must. Make sure when you get new card you format it on phone and transfer old stuff from PC to phone thru cable. Don't copy it all just pics video and music. Some app data might be bad.

Totally worked. Not sure if it was the new sd card or the reflash. Kudos, though!

[Q] Update to Cognition V2.3b6 Sim card won't work

Good evening. Yes I am a n00b when it comes to Android. I have been trying to install the latest 2.2 rom from Cognition, V2.3b6. I have a Samsung Captivate. I get it to install fine except I have no phone. I get no bars and no 3G indicators. I go to status and it says I have no phone #, doesn't know network, etc. It appears it's not seeing the sim card?
I'm using Rom-Manager Clockwork mod to do the install.
Anyone have an idea what I am doing wrong? I have just used Odin 3 one-click to restore to factory (again) and saw I did not have a sim card installed and I've just powered down, reinstalled SIM and I get my 3G indicator and my full signal bars.
Help. I'm nervous about trying to do this again because I don't know why it is doing this. It worked on the first Samsung Captivate I had but I had to exchange it out because it had problems.
I've always believed to stop when I'm not sure what to do next.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've just restored to factory. Might re-root it and be done with it.
Are you certain you installed the SIM card correctly? I've done it a bunch of times myself.
Sim card
Yes I did. In fact, when I did the flash from 2.1 to the 2.2 the sim card was already inserted. Was I supposed to remove it first? I hadn't read anywhere about taking it out before flashing to the new rom.
You aren't suppose to flash with a SIM card inserted, or any external SD card inserted either. It won't hurt, try to flash Cognition again. Remember to use ODIN to go back to JF6 first though.

Wrong - Always have use cwm & flashed with everything inserted - never a problem except when I screwed the pooch on the TiBu & opted to restore the system files too
OP - sounds like like a bad flash, I'd re-download it & reflash. You already know you can get back with Odin, so there's no downside.

Sorry for the back and forth banter, do yourself a favor and remove sim before flashing. It does not always cause problems but has been known to cause your exact issue

Ok guys thanks.
I knew not to have the SD card inserted except when you are flashing rom. It's my understanding the SD card is used for storage. I will try flashing it without the SIM card installed and see how it goes.

Just remove all of the cards.
Thanks!
Ok. I reflashed the ROM without the SIM card inserted. I saw it recognized there was no SIM installed and now I have my cellular connection.
Thank you guys for your advice!!!
Sluggish
I do notice that the phone is sluggish now with the 2.2 rom. Geeze.
If you have not done so reboot a couple of times. The lag fix on that build usually works better after a couple boots.

[Prob] internal sd card damaged

After more than a year of using my o2x,I finally have up, got myself a nexus and have the LG to my girlfriend.
I wiped it, installed Rom clean and gave it to her.
After just one day this message appeared "internal sd card damaged".
I flashed another radio, and it works for three days, than it appeared again today.
Anyone seen this?
In more than a year I've never ever seen or heard of this problem.

I had a corrupted internal SD once. Can't remember quite what I did to screw it up (I think I was messing around with mount points for internal and external SD), but the only way to fix it was an nvflash of a stock ROM. Formatting it didn't help (I tried it through Storage settings and CWM), but the nvflash fixed it.

I think the errors I got were "error reading SD card" rather than "internal SD card damaged" so it may be a hardware fault you have there.
Moved to Q&A please ask all questions there.

[Q] Handset wiping question

Hello,
When I got my Note, I must have installed every app going on it, the phone got clogged up and just kept crashing out and being generally rubbish so I thought Id do a hard reset and start over. I booted into the stock recovery menu and just did a factory reset, it worked fine and the handsets fine but Im interested to know if on a stock rom, locked bootloader with no rooting could that affect my handset and mess with the storage capacity?
With me looking at rooting and roms Ive seen a lot of posts where people have rooted and done wipes on their phone and its corrupted the storage, loosing part of it, so I was just interested if the same risks apply to a stock handset?

See your post, I believe you are in GB rom / or on a safe ICS kernel.
Otherwise, I can only say you are damn lucky.
Rooting is not a problem in note. But wiping is a problem if u r on stock ICS kernel.
A lot of thread regarding this one alrd. If you're handphone is fine now, and you don't need root / etc... Just use it as per normal.
But if you want to do more with your handphone, read carefully on all thread that you wish to try to experiment on your handset.
I don't quite understand with what you want. Perhaps you could give your about screenshot, to know more on what stock rom you are now, and which kernel you are now. Then you list out what you need to do.

No it can't mess with storage capacity, you are on stock recovery and that is safe

Im just interested in finding out if me resetting my handset could have corrupted the phones storage. Not including my SD card, my note says Ive got 1.97gb of internal storage and then 11gb of USB storage which considering its a 16gb phone means theres about 3gb less. Even my external card (which is 16gb) registers 14.3gb. so I was just interested to find out if this is correct or if it sounds like the reboot has caused an issue?
I've only had the handset a couple of weeks and obviously its all still under warranty so I've got the option to send it back, which is easier the newer the handset.

Those figures are correct, the rest of the memory is allocated to system. If you'd damaged the emmc you'd know about it cos the phone wouldn't boot. There's an app you can install to check for emmc damage in the play store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.vinagre.android.emmc_check
You need to be rooted to do a full scan.

[Q] HELP: SD Slot won't mount any SD CARD

Hi, so for the last two weeks i found this issue that's been killing me.
I run a P970 (Optimus Black) running always the latest NIGHTLY from CM10.1.
Two weeks ago I was updating the phone to the version "10.1-20130121-NIGHTLY" and everything went smoothly but after the reboot the phone wouldn't mount my SD card anymore. Mind you that I use a good SD CARD (Amazon Basics 16gb) and tried going into storage and mounting it from there. After several atempts such as removing battery, inserting SD and booting again I decided to check if my SD was corrupted.
IT WAS NOT! TAM DAM DAM!!!
I could access all of my files just fine from my computer.
Just to clear my mind I decided to format the SD card with SD FORMATER but it did bloody nothing.
After that, still holding on to my good manners I tried 3 other SD CARDS that I had laying around.
Nothing....
Now. It was personal.
I spent these last weeks and many aeons searching XDA and the rest of the internet for a case similar to mine and the closest I got, is a thread about a EVO 4G. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695243
Unfortunatly, my Optimus Black refuses to play nice and still hasn't shape shifted to a EVO 4G so we could all move along.
Does anyone has come to a problem like this one? Know how to fix it?
I have already prayed to the Elder Gods and all that it brought me were these horrible, horrible nightmares.
Please, help!

You should do a backup, so you can restore it if needed... although restoring it without a working cwm will be... hard to impossible i mean restoring it without being able to mount the sd card is pretty complicated... are you able to access the sd card in cwm?

Hi, can you please teach me how to flash a newer version without an SD card?
Thanks
Download the latest nightly in your PC
Put your SD in your PC
Copy the file to your SD
Put your SD in your phone
Turn on your phone
When is on long press your power button
Select reboot, select reboot recovery
From there you must know the rest.

Should I wipe my Nook HD+ and Install CM10.1, or Load from SD?

Just wanting some opinions here.
I was wondering what the consensus is on running ROMs on Nook HD+ is. I heard SD cards were unstable (I have a Kingston Class 4 32GB), and I wasn't sure how easy it is to go back to stock from a ROM.
Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!
Edit: I should add that I do not have any real problems with the stock ROM except weird issues (ie: SoundCloud's app/webpage won't play the songs I uploaded to it).
I just took the plunge and did the full wipe and installed on internal memory. I tried the Sd method first and was not having good luck on a Sandisk 32Gb Class 4 card. So far everything is working great.

Hehe just decided to take the plunge and do it. Keep getting an error while backing up though.
"Error while making a backup image of /system!"
Using a 32GB Kingston Class 4 SD card. :crying:
I was going to do the SD card thing but couldn't get it to work so I just did the emmc and I like it. I have no experience with other android tablets so my opinion is sort of meaningless but this seems to be pretty rad. Especially for the price!
I say just do it without the SD card. I think I've seen the stock ROM around here somewhere if you really miss it.

The error was because you were using verygreen's small 1GB image, there is not room enough there for a backup. If you followed the 'Dummies Guide' it would tell you to use my 4GB image so you had room on the SD to do a backup of stock first.

For the benefit of those who might read this thread in the future and are less sure of what they want to do:
In my opinion, whether you should keep the stock firmware around depends mainly upon how much you enjoy the stock Nook app(s). The Nook shopping/reading app for Android which can be found on the Play Store is inferior, and is so in some ways that are important to me. If you use it, you lose the capacity for multi-color highlights, and the UI is generally clunkier. This may improve, though, and if it does, I'd wholeheartedly endorse always going straight for a native CM install. In general, it's vastly superior.
