I bought the N6 on pre-order from AT&T using NEXT. It shipped out when AT&T said it would and came overnight, all was great. When I received the first bill, both my N6 and my wife's S5 were listed on contract instead of the NEXT program. I never made a down payment when buying the phone and the confirmation email says it was on the NEXT program. Clearly AT&T made a mistake. I used chat and was instructed to take said paperwork and go to my local store and they could fix everything. But now i'm wondering if I can just pay the EFT of $325 per phone instead of full retail? And if so, can I keep my AT&T service, or do I need to hassle with porting my number out and back in?
What say you?

You'd need to run this by ATT, but ETF (early Termination fee) is applied only when you "terminate" your service with ATT.
After talking to customer service, they have no problem with me paying the $325 ETF, and keeping service. They said i would then get the $25 per line discount since i'm on the 10 GB plan. I'll report back with my actual results. I don't have the coin this week to pay it.

Verizon is having a 1-day "leap day" sale on number of LTE devices, including the Droid 4.
Because I was within the return window (received the phone last Friday), they've credited my account for the $100 difference. They mentioned that you have to request the refund at the store you bought it from, or if you ordered online or through telesales, you request it from Customer Service.
The promo page on Verizon says that it's an online deal only; yet the CS rep said that if I bought it at a store I'd have to go back there... so I'm not 100% sure what a store will say if you go in.
what a load of crap...I bought mine on the release date so I'm outside of the window. stupid verizon screwing the early adopters!
thanks anyways OP
Is this just on the contact price? As it is now i can still trade my bionic to best buy for 350 and Pricer match go wireless at 549 meaning only 200 out of pocket. If i can save even more then I'll definitely be getting this phone.
Hi I want to buy this phone, unlock it and use it for ATT.
I heard you cannot buy this phone off contract and that you must have a service with them. I hear people are just signing up for the service for one day and then cancel the day after.
Can someone explain how they did it?

Pay full price for phone up front and buy the smallest package. After 40 days cancel the service. Some stores will sell it out right without a plan, but you will have to do some searching and calling. I had to go to 3 different stores before I found one that would sell it out right.
I read LTE and 4G dont work so well when you take it back to ATT. I read somewhere.

I thought the same thing. This is not the case with the Note 4. It was an issue with the Note 3 and previous devices in my experience.

Who did you use to unlock it? im looking to pick one up and i'd rather not have to wait for tmobiles unlocking terms.
If you buy the phone out right you can unlock asap

There's been conflicting reports about that.
I bought the phone outright. Paid $30 or so to cellunlocker to get an unlock code. Popped in AT&T sim and off I went. Still need to cancel Tmo service.

When you purchase the phone outright you now it and can unlock it.
I bought my Note 4 outright and purchased the lowest priced package I could. I unlocked it the first day I received it, inserted my sim card from Consumer Cellular and was up and running. However, I read that T-Mobile can and have blacklisted the IMEI of phones that don't comply with their terms of service. Since I didn't read the fine print when I bought the phone and service, I decided it would be prudent to go ahead and meet the 40 service requirement to get an unlock code (although the phone is already unlocked) rather than take a chance and have some T-Mobile manager with a Napoleonic complex blacklist the phone. Then I would be out of $800.00. I asked the customer care representative about blacklisting the phone if I didn't meet the 40 day requirement and she said it was possible. I wasn't willing to take that chance. I will pony up an additional $80.00 + dollars to have peace of mind.

I preordered, got phone Monday the 13th.
I unlocked with cellunlocker.net 4 days later.
Been using it on AT&T since last friday. Called and canceled tmobile same day.
Easy as that.

Right but you make it sound like every T-Mobile store or reseller will sell you a phone outright with absolutely zero commitment of any kind like you walked in to buy a pack of gum or bought a nexus from google play store. There are conflicting reports about zero commitment purchases. The safer bet seems to be walking in with the understanding that you may have to agree to a month-to-month or prepaid contract that you can cancel a day or more later.
The best way i can think to explain it is as follows:
A few people have reported that they were able to buy it outright without service. Though many have been denied that option.
Some have implied that Tmobile then unlocked it.
A moderately safe assumption is that you can buy it with service, unlock it via third party service, and cancel your tmobile service the second u get your unlock code. This comes with the gray area of region locking and having to activate it on tmobile first to remove the region lock pior to unlocking. This can be a lengthy discussion, you might not care about region locking, I'll leave it at that, but read into it. I went this route, activated on tmobile for 4 days, then unlocked and cancelled. I say assumption because people are worried about blacklisting and T.O.S.
The most cautious method would be to wait out your 40 days per Tmobile T.O.S., in addition to the time it takes for them to send your unlock code, pay applicable fees, then cancel.
Hope this clears up the options a bit.

T-Mobile has the IMEI of phone they sell you in their records. I confirmed it when I called them and they read it to me for confirmation purposes. They sold the phone to you and they know everything about it. Guaranteed. If their records show the phone being used on another carrier without it being activated with them or unlocked by them then they can blacklist the IMEI of the phone. That phone will then be an $800.00 paperweight. They have done it before and a quick Google search will prove it. I'm not saying they will since that seems to be an unknown, but they can and the owner of the phone will have no recourse. I sure don't want to wake up one day and find out that my $800.00 phone is dead. I might very well be wrong, but I am not willing to take that chance after paying $800.00 for the phone. I'll pay for the 40 days of service.
I just bought my Note 4 full price from AT&T after calling about 30 stores in my area and finding one store with one black model in stock. I ended up paying less than full price because of some computer error that rung up the phone $749.99 instead of $825.99. They charged me the difference so I only paid $825 outright, after taxes. All in all, I saved almost $50 (difference in tax from $750 to $825). I still feel like it is ridiculous though that the AT&T model is $80 more expensive than TMo. Is it worth buying a TMO Note 4 with their baseball discount ($30 off) and trying to unlock it to use it on AT&T? Sorry for my long comment/question.
Bought mine from swappa in a sealed pack. Opened the phone, went to Cellunlocker.com and within 10 min had my unlock code. Works great on ATT
Last week, I bought a Tmobile Note 4 to be used on ATT. The seller has good ratings, and the phone came in like new in condition fully sim unlocked. He said he bought it throught TMobile and paid it off in full. He used it on Straighttalk.
I finally have time to do an IMEI check today on Swappa. This is what it says:
Whitelisted: Whitelisted This device is on the global IMEI whitelist.
Activation Status Assumed Clear (whitelist) Device appears to be activation ready.
Financed Outstanding Balance (T-Mobile) Device is not eligible for resale (financed).
When I ran it on the Tmobile site, it says the same thing: "This device is being financed and has an outstanding balance that must be paid or it may not be able to be used on the T-Mobile network.
For more information or assistance, please call Customer Care at 1-877-453-1304."
I'm trying to get a copy of the sale receipt from him. I just want to know if other users with full paid off Tmobile Note 4 has tried to do an IMEI check to see if it's possible for it to say it's financed when in fact it's paid off.
Yes, it takes a billing cycle for it to show as paid off on the tmobile site. I learned this selling one of my phones.

Ok Thanks.
I hope he provides me with a copy of receipt. He said he bought it 1 month ago and paid full price at the Tmobile store. I believe him with his reviews on ebay. Also the phone looks like a 1 month old phone. I would like to confirm that this is truly paid off.
Okay. So I'm going to jump right into this, Basically all at&t members get a 14 day period if you buy a phone or get it on contract with AT&T Next. The 14 days is to decide whether you want the phone or want a different one or just don't want a phone at all. So I was going to trade in my S6 for an S7. So I drive 30 minutes to the nearest AT&T store and, I basically get told That I can't trade it in at a different store so he gives me a location. I drive 1 and a half hours to a Store and They tell me "Sorry, You can't trade in phones that have been ordered online here". So I basically Got lied to by a rep on the phone then lied to by a in-store rep. The reps told me which stores to go to and, Completely Failed to mention about the Return Shipping. Not only did AT&T waste my time. My 14 day period ends tomorrow so I'm basically screwed. Tired of Reps giving incorrect information. I'll just call em up tell them I'm going to switch carriers and see how it goes. I guess its come to the point where I have to do crap like that. They already took 5 days to ship my phone initially. "Overnight" Not so overnight at all.
Thank You AT&T for your horrible information.
Should bring it up in ATT forums. More effective there
I sold the s6 and bought the international s7 with unlocked bootloader.
Nice
Idk I mean they are pretty similar but that is bull. Mean I have an s6 but I'm gonna buy a Nexus next time. Att can stay with their ****ty locked bootloader
Not to mention they just terminated one of the phones on my bill without my authorization! WTF! I had to get my bill credited. I'm so done with AT&T.
I know if you pre-order from Samsung you get the headphones but are there any deals if you pre order from Verizon? I had to do it through Verizon. I hope some deals will come out for those of us who did it through the carrier.

You get the headphones too. On the day you activate your phone you open the shop samsung app to fill out the form.
***Side Note, you could have bought it at Best Buy, still do bill pay and get a $200 gift card on top of the headphones.
I have a emoyee account with Verizon so I can only order through the app or customer care.

As in you work for Verizon or you get a discount because your employer gets that discount? If its the first, I totally get it.
Best buy with verizon only has a $100 off promotion with verizon... sprint has the $200 off.
Verizon also has a bogo deal, BUT you have to activate a new line for it. For a free $1000 phone, we opted for that, and when we pay off my note 8 from last year, we'll cancel the spare phone line.
The bottom line with our s7 edge tradein was $650 with contract monthly payments for 2 Note 9 base model phones... a hell of a deal!

Are those headphones wired or wireless? T-mobile states that they're wireless but the model number appears to be wired, I believe. So which is it? Anyone know for sure?
Does anyone know if i pre-order and do the BOGO deal can i swap one of the phones to another account? I want to do this deal with my brother who is on a different account. I have no problem keeping a new line open for 24 months but will i be able to swap one phone activation (just the phone) to another account. I spoke with a rep and they said it was only within the same account but sometimes they do not have all the correct info.
Anyone know?
