I picked up a Gear 2 Neo from Rogers last week($99 on sale). Is there a way to get S Voice working on it? My S4 has original rom(4.4.2 I believe). When I try to use S Voice from the Gear, it used to tell me to install S Voice on my phone(it was installed), but now it says connection failed. Not sure what changed, but still not working. The Gear is updated to UB0NE5.
Thanks
Lots of views but no comments. I am sure there are plenty of people using a Gear 2 Neo with an S4. Is S Voice supposed to work with the S4 or is it a feature that will be updated in the future?
Thanks
TRoN
I have the gear neo from rogers as well (latest software) and an s4 4.4.2 from Koodo. S Voice is working fine on the neo.
Oh sorry I have 4.2.2. on my S4. Maybe If I upgrade to 4.4.2 S Voice will work....I hope.

Can you please tell me what ver your S Voice is. Thanks
If you mean on the phone it's 11.2.2.0
Yes on the phone. I installed a custom rom and had to install S Voice separately. I found ver 11.0.0.x and 11.4.x.x or something like that. Both kept crashing and never worked with Gear Neo. Did you update your S4 with official rom?
Thanks
Updated to latest Fido rom...now works fine.

Thanks

The S4 Galaxy Zoom came with android version 4.2.2. On this version it "might" work if you jump thru some hoops. It is able to be officially updated to 4.4 on some carriers. If the Zoom is on 4.4 stock firmware it will work. If your able to get to a retail store and test drive the device, open samsung apps application and search for gear manager. If it's there, your 100% good to go!

Hardware requirements for the gear are a bluetooth v4 connection. But users with v3 have it working properly. The S4 Zoom has v4.0 with A2DP, LE so it's good to go hardware wise.
Software wise the gearmanager requires an android version of 4.3 or higher that's based on Samsung's touchwiz framework. If your on anything different you have to do some modifying and tweaking. That's where xda can help!
Thanks for the quick reply. I guess that answers my question!! The S4 zoom only has Android 4.2.2 and no upgrades to it so I'm not going to run the risk!
I might wait for the rumoured Galaxy K Zoom just to be sure!
I also don't think that the S4 zoom can run S Health either so the integration between the watch and S Health won't exist either!?

Is this a fact? Well, if that's right, I know why my Galaxy Note 1 does work very well with a force installed Gear manager, but calling is silent and with no mike working... Bluetooth 2.1 here... In that case, be sure that your device supports more than mine ^^

The original Galaxy note has Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP, EDR. I use to have one and didn't have mic problems with my gear. You might want to reinstall gearmanager and all the apks individually again.

That's not right!!!! I use gear with S4 mini dual sim from November 2013 and it has 4.2.2. Samsung implemented the necessary files in earlyer version of android. If you could update your phone with a 2014 firmware it is a very great possibility to work. (99%)
Anyway, gear manager works just fine with devices from other manufacturers, I reccomand you to read on the gear forum some more.

Which ROM? Omni KitKat ROM does not work.
I don't suppose anyone is able to definitely confirm that the Galaxy Gear works with the Galaxy S4 Zoom?
I've double checked today and its actually the SM-C101 model I have a chance of getting... OR I can now get a Galaxy S4. So I need to be absolutely sure that I can use my Gear with the Zoom, otherwise I'll go for the S4

Hello xda, I really enjoy looking at the Gear 2 Neo so think i'll buy one, however the only Samsung device in our household is a Galaxy s3, could I pair it to that and then proceed to rooting the gear 2 neo? The s3 does have a bad imei but thats beside the point.
Once I have a custom rom the gear 2 neo from my understanding all we can do is connect it via bluetooth but I should be able to all the fancy stuff like Android wear has? Such as incoming calls, texting friends etc...I was also wondering if the IR blaster would still work after root?
Cheers for answering these questions.
Oh I'll be pairing it with a lg g2 after root, I may end up getting a s5 after though so would going to be stock rom be a simple process?

Hi, I have a gear 2 neo and it is paired to my galaxy s3 and all functions work perfectly.
You mentioned it being able to do all the fancy stuff that android wear does after a custom rom is installed?
You can do the things you listed like incoming calls and texting friends without rooting your gear 2 neo, those functions work on stock ROM so essentially there would be no need to put a custom ROM on your watch
Hope this helps

Hi sorry my mistake, as to my understanding you don't need to root your watch to achieve this, you just need to root your phone (LG) here is a link for you to follow, proceed at your own risk however

Hi, I'm assuming so yes, I previously put a custom ROM on my GS3 and manager to get Gear Manager back onto my phone, however it wouldn't connect it would say its connecting and do nothing so I reverted back to stock firmware, however since then if you look on the link I provided there is a fix for the problem I had.
However, like most things I'd say its hit and miss, what works for one person might not work for the other. Another thing I should have mentioned was that using the steps in the link above not all functions of the watch may work. If you read through the comments I'm sure somewhere people are saying what's working and what is not.
Hope you manage to get what you want done!
Does anyone know if the Gear 1 works with our Note 4?
Been looking around and it seems it doesn't, but wanted to double check.
I can but one from a friend for $80 right now, but it doesn't do me any good if I can't link the two.
Thanks

Huh? Can you explain that lol. What's Null 23?
Oh ok, nvm. So your gear is rooted...
And null 23 is the rom. So stock I can't, but rooted I can correct?
Null 23 here too. Works great. Never tried with the stock ROM, sorry. Might ask in the Gear forum too.
Running my Gear 1 (with Tizen) with my Note 4 (stock ROM unrooted). I got my Gear 1 after I had my Note 4. The Gear 1 stock ROM was Android and would not pair with my Note 4. After flashing Tizen, I've had a flawless experience.
My recommendation: if you are willing to flash the Gear 1 with Samsung's Tizen ROM, definitely go for it.
Working perfectly for me and my gear 1 isn't rooted.

So it's working stock for you?
I had null rom 23 on mine and even with stock rom the auto unlock feature doesn't work. So I upgraded to tizen and now everything is working. Also battery last longer on tizen.
Totally stock on both, works fine for me. I never did the Tizen upgrade though but it shouldn't make a difference.

Yes it was working stock. I rooted my note 4 and works as well. No problems here. You can see my watch paired.
I have both, stock, and they connect fine...
Kinda sorta unsatisfied with some of the options, though. The lack of app variety (paid and otherwise, there are a metric ton of clock faces and, apparantly, not much else that I could work with), is leaning me heavily towards Android Wear at the moment. (Especially considering Tockle, which can interact with Tasker, doesn't seem to have an equivalent on the Gear's ecosystem. With the Gear, I'd likely have to use LaunchGear or Wearable Widgets for a similar effect.)
Still doing research on that, though.
I screwed up. I bought the Gear 2 Neo & thought it would work with Nexus 5 Lollipop
There is no option to return it because I bought it from another country.
Do I have any recourse or way to use the device? Even with limited functionality?
Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Are there are foreseeable plans of a Samsung update to allow pairing with Nexus 5 Lollipop?
Thank you.

How likely is it? Is using Gear Manager a compromise compared to Android Wear?
Would it be better to just sell the watch and get one that is more compatible?

I tried it on a very early alpha version of lollipop on my Samsung device and it worked. But I hate to burst your bubble, it will be at least another couple of months until it is stable and more generally available. It relies heavy on gear manager which relies on the touchwiz environment. Why, for Pete's sake, this route was chosen is maybe one of Samsung's downfalls. Within two years they will be out of the market if they keep going with their business model, this consumer market does not care, but like you, will remember. Examples of such electronic giants reduced to rubble? Nokia, Nortel, Blackberry
Consumers want stuff to work, simple without all these prerequisites that are in fine print.
Tbh you are best of selling or donate it to a family member with a Samsung phone that has to be running Jellybean 4.3 or KitKat. Preferably a galaxy phone so S4, Note3, ß5 or Note4. Others.... Will not work without breaking their OS
Sad but true
Anyone tried Gear 2 Neo to see if it works with the newly pushed Android 5.0.1 on i9500 and i9506?
I'm curious if it will work from day 1 on i9505 when 5.0.1 will be pushed to these devices.
Thanks!
I have i9506, nordic edition and gear 2 neo, and they work together. Even better than on Kitkat, as s health was not receiving the Gear data for pedometer and such.
Now even that works. My s4 on the otherhand is laggy as hell with 5.0.1 , but that is not the issue here
I've installed i9505 5.0.1 and Samsung Gear doesn't work anymore. When started, it blinks a 1-2 times and crashes silently. I cannot connect to the watch with anything else (Android Wear for ex.) either.
Any ideas?
Later edit: I enabled bluetooth debug in Android Wear and tried several more times to connect through S-Gear and now it seems it connected and is trying to install additional software... hope it works out.
Haha, phone did a factory reset on the watch and now I'm trying again to connect to it .
Later edit: after managing to soft brick my phone, I reinstalled the 5.0.1 and this time, amazingly enough, Samsung Gear worked as it was supposed to so my watch is back to normal functions again.

Hello,
I tried every possible thing I found on the internet. Even went to change the name of the phone and model in /system files, without any success. I did manage, after downgrading to 4.4.4 to connect to the gear 2 neo, but I couldn't use any of it's features except answering the phone via the watch. I'm thinking maybe I can change the ROM of the watch to tizen and then make a connection with android wear. I searched but didn't find anyone who did this on gear 2 neo. Theoretically, it should work. I will post if I manage to do something.
Cheers,
Alex

Answering calls work with Lollipop too, just pair watch in Bluetooth settings. Second... You should install Android rom on watch, not Tizen. There is also Android Wear mod possibility... Roms for Gear 2 should also work on Neo (except camera)

Hi all,
Samsung have finally released a version of Gear Manager that doesn't require Touchwiz to be installed.
Version is 2.2.15100741N is out and even shows up on the Google Play Store. Installs fine on a Nexus 6 with 6.0 and a Oneplus One running 5.1.1
At the moment it only works with the Gear S2, but i wonder if Samsung will release a version compatible with our watch??
If not, do you think this version could be modified to work with our old watch???
Not showing on my google play.
