Is there any way to set UK English as my phone's language? I have it in keyboard, but I'd like my OS to have things spelt properly and I don't see UK as an option.

It's restricted by the carrier's CSC settings.
If you're rooted, you could add language support via several different apps on the app store called MoreLocal 2 that might work.
Wanam has an app that might work as well.

I'll give Wanam's a try. Thanks!
Update: Wanam's app didn't work on NK4, so I guess that means the language just isn't in there. :/

Due to my current location I cannot download the TataSky Mobile Access App from the market even though I own a TataSky HD recorder and subscribe to the DTH service.
I was wondering if a kind person currently located in India would download the app and post it here for me.
Thanks a bunch in advance.
I can download it tonight and upload it to this thread, however you must know that there is a catch to the app. you need an mp3 mobile accessory to use the phone as a remote for this app. you need to buy it from Tata Sky for Rs 350 to have this app work as a remote.
also the app is compatible with only few devices. Desire HD is compatible. ( I have a tab P-7500 which shows as not compatible for this app)
Surprised that it doesn't use the home network. Thanks. I'll see if I can get the dongle in Bangladesh.

Engadget recently posted about a Chrome extension called APK Downloader. It allows you to download the APK for any app on the market, including those that may be blocked by your carrier. My first thought was to try Google Wallet for my T-Mo Nexus S. I was able to get it installed and add the prepaid card. I haven't had a chance to try a purchase yet, though. Let me know if it works for you.
I can't post links yet but just search APK Downloader on Engadget for info on where to download it from
After I got APK Downloader installed in Chrome, I googled "Google Wallet site: play.google.com" and then used the extension to download the APK to my Dropbox so I could quickly access it from my phone.
If anyone has a chance to do this and make a purchase, let me know. I'll give it a shot tomorrow

Just used wallet successfully
I can confirm that the above method worked for me. I was able to install the app, add the prepaid card, and successfully buy something with it.
I have not tested this on a non-rooted phone, although I imagine it could work since you do not need to be rooted to install an APK outside of the Play Store.
One other note for rooted users, there is a persistent banner on the app that says "Unsupported Device. Learn more." This means exactly what it says. It is unsupported so the Google Wallet devs aren't obligated to help you if you are rooted and have problems with the app. This does not mean that the app will not work.
One more update: it looks like after installing the app in this way, it shows up in the "my apps" section of the Play Store, allowing you to update it (providing it's an update that doesn't break it for root users).

It's due to the regional and carrier settings. In the US, I believe its only available for the Sprint Nexus S 4G, and not available for anyone else. This method allows everyone else to update and install google wallet.
Hey,
Thanks for this link - I managed to get the app installed (i9020 bought unbranded, on T-Mobile UK, totally stock unrooted 4.0.4).
However, when I start the app up, I still get the "this app is not supported in your country / on your network" error.
I guess it's because I'm in the UK? Any way to get around this?
Thanks,
Suman

As a Canadian I have yet to find a way to do this short of driving 30mins to the border, hopping on a US network and trying then. Might need to switch sims as well.

Hmm, ok... so does the device permanently have to be on a "supported" network for the Wallet application to load up, or does it just need to get activated first?
I have an old AT&T GoPhone SIM somewhere (in my crypts!) which I could possibly use in the phone, but I don't know if roaming would work...
Will have to give it a go and see what happens!
Try market enabler and spoofing to T-Mobile US, you need root though
Works for me

Hey,
That's cool - do you use it pay for stuff randomly then? Are you using the Google card or a Citi card? Tell me everything!
My device is totally stock and unrooted and currently locked bootloader - do you have a step by step guide for how to get Market Enabler working?
Cheers,
Su

I am the only person outside of the US that Google Wallet shows up in my Play Store?!
I'm in the UK and my Nexus is a completely stock i9020T running 4.0.4. The app doesn't open properly because "my country is not supported" but I can still download from the stock Play Store app :S
anyway to root without wiping on 4.0.4 ics stock?

Searched but can't find an answer to this. Probably because I wouldn't know what words someone else has used in Q or A...
Is there an alternate source for Apps for my TAB that I can access on the TAB just like the Market/Google Play or failing that on a PC and easily install via some other method?
I guess what I am asking is: Anyone who makes an App, do they automatically put it up on the Market or do some developers prefer not to, and therefore is there another central access point, or do I have to web search them and go to their site to get them?
confusing post. There is the google play store, the Amazon app store, Getjar, and appslib market places to get apps from.
Most developers will list their apps with one or more of those app stores.
Unless of course you are looking for Warez matey. That be goin' against forum rules. Arrr. ;-)

Not sure why its confusing.
I only know of (knew of) the Market (now Google Play) cos its the stock standard link included on my TAB and SG2. Aside from Samsung Apps.
Not after warez, just wondering weather all apps make it to GP or if thewre is other places. Will have a look for the others.
Just downloaded and installed appslib APK and got the message "Sorry, but your device is not compatible with AppsLib."
SGT7 Overcome 4.1.0
Th getjar seems a little sparse.
to ensure high compatibility,
I usually re-set my dpi to 240,
clear market data and reboot.
then launch market again

I have never seen any dpi settings. Where would these be? How would resolution affect weather the appslib works or not?
Which market are you referring to - Google Play or appslib?
Dpi affect Play
/system/build.prop
ro.sf.lcd_density=240
But I misread your post. You downloaded an apk and install it manually.
The dpi setting only affect when you search apps in Play.

No matter what I do I cannot get it to talk to me. I have set English (US) as my system language and as the Google now language yet it does not talk back to me. I've set it to always talk and also downloaded the offline package.

I remember with my One X, I had to download an app to set my locale settings; changing it in the phone settings wouldn't do it. After I did that, it would talk.
Search for the Set Locale and Language app by brucedior. That might do the trick for you.
Inside you can set it to the US.

In order to have Google Now talk back I went into Settings > Language & keyboard > Text-to-speech output > Google Text-to-speech Engine > Install voice data > English (United States) > Female (high quality). After the download completed and installed Google Now speaks back to me now.

Hi... Although it is a nice gesture to provide the .apk file for free, it is a clear violation of the xda rules and regulations.
Thanks for advising of the app on the Playstore though. That is good info to know.
Just so you are aware...
