Trickster Kernel Mod for LED - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just so everyone knows, you can download the Trickster Mod Kernel app and turn have the same, if not better LED functionality over a couple of the other ways to get it working. Plus, this is a good go-to app when kernels get released hopefully in the near future.
Settings>Specific>LED Control
Thought I'd share this because I feel it's better to have an app that features this type of thing rather than an app dedicated to only this type of thing.

Thanks for the info. A couple of questions:
1) It flashes the LED for notifications?
2) You've tried it and it works?

No it doesn't, there are a lot of options in Trickster other than battery charging/full, maybe about 10 options total and some I don't know what they do.
Either way, the battery LED does work, which other dedicated apps accomplished, but this is better since it's an everyday custom kernel app also.

Greenify is your best friend
Keep your wakelocks to a minimum. Google search on wakelocks and preventing them from occurring.
Black backgrounds because it's an AMOLED, black keyboard etc...

Latest version of greenify works with non rooted devices. Not sure how effective it is.

You have to greenify apps that are intrusive. Please read the app description before asking. You seem to be confused on what greenify is and what it does.
Apps that are intrusive would be apps running and doing calls in the background. You can find a list of them by searching or using a battery wakelock app.

Correct I'm coming from an iPhone so this is new to me. I need to find out how to search for them.

I'm sorry but not everybody can answer every single question you ask. You have to find it for yourself, we can just lead you into the right direction
Rule #1 of XDA,
1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting or creating a new thread. Whether you have a question or just something new to share, it's very likely that someone has already asked that question or shared that news.

If you're asking about Battery Saver, look it up on what it exactly does. But it would not help you as its the last 15% of your battery. Find existing battery optimization threads and then you'll have some ideas.

Actually, you can turn Battery Saver mode on at any time. Problem is that you have to deal with those garish orange bars on the top and bottom, and it'll disable vibration, ambient display, and most background data (i.e. no more push emails or app notifications). It also throttles the processor and disables animations, so Battery Saver mode is not an ideal solution for all-day use.
Reining in bad apps is the best way to maximize battery life. Either uninstall/disable bad apps, or prevent them from burning through your phone's battery through Greenify.

Ah you're right. I was referring to automatic battery saver. I would rather tweak battery using Franco kernels per app mode which enables profiles on performance based on what app is being used in the background.
In my opinion, battery saver isnt very good. It cripples your phone to the point where you're not using your phone since so many features are disabled. It's good for having the essentials like texting and calling but other than that there are better ways to get the most out of the battery

I concur, that's why it's only useful when you're down to 10-15% of battery life so you can get an extra hour or so, which could be useful in cases where you need to be able to call/text but you're not able to get to a charger.

[Q] Would this even be possible?

I really dislike the fact that the Note for has a very cool (I mean, it makes my slightly cool iPad look warm..) screen calibration. Is there anyone who'd even know how to add this to a Kernel for CM12? (not stock touchwiz) would be cool to warm it up a touch and get that eye hurting blue under control (I know it's not that bad for most, but I'm really sensitive to minute details like that.) Figured I'd at least ask. Also, I'm working on my first "custom" ROM. Essentially I want to bring back some of the helpful features that touchwiz offers within CM12. QUICK SOMEOME SCREAM! Haha I know the point of CM12 is to get rid of that, but the point of AOSP is to enjoy open source freedoms. So far I've gotten a few stock apps running as well as some other customisations

I know of many apps for that. The issues with apps is that they run on top of the system. A kernel tweak would give you optimized adjustments. Essentially setting the display natively vs actively updating it. I hope this makes sense. I had an app that did that, but the constant running meant that it inherently caused the system to be stressed more. (Now this app could do much better, and please let me know if it does, but the app I had used an unnecessarily high amount of RAM for what little it was doing.) In my mind it would be simpler to just warm the display up natively from the kernel. Also (Full credit to whoever did it) I would be able to post the ROM file already modified like that without needing to make that app a system app.

[Q] Kernel with LED notification

Is there a kernel which supports LED notifications for Gmail, etc. Also the ability to select colors and duration?

Most custom ROMs support this function natively. A kernel isn't absolutely necessary.

Have you tried Lightflow or something similar?
I was misled to believe it was a capacity of a kernel, thanks.
You mean Light Flow the paid app?

Yeah the app in the Android Market will allow you to enable it, and tinker with the colors. There may be some other apps that can accomplish the same thing, but I am unsure of what they could be.
This thread and this thread have some people discussing their settings to getting it to work. They may mention some other apps that work.

Q: Root and then unRoot

Hi
I just moved from LG-G3 to N6, and like it for the most part. There are a couple of things I liked, which I believe I can achieve by rooting my N6
- Notification light
- Knock Code.
The rub is, that my corporate requires me to use AirWatch agent which doesn't work on Rooted devices. Is it possible for me to Root, install the notification light/knock code changes and then unRoot again (and retain these modifications)?
I hope the answer is yes
BTW, my Android version: 6.0.1, Build MMB29K
Probably not. Almost definite not for the light as it requires writing to the kernel's virtual file system to turn the light on or off... But maybe someone can correct me with some other way.
no. once you unroot, your mods won't work anymore. anyways.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/attention-questions-t3228454
Well the tap thing is xposed right? Never tried but I have heard since xposed installs its own framework to run its programs that you can unroot and things may still work. Though I think a lot of things that look for root look for xposed too, so your still likely out of luck.
Thanks a lot for all your help. Next time I will post to the right (Q&A) sub-forum
Sad, that the notification light is in the HW, but not enabled in Nexus

I like that as well. I'm using PureNexus ROM that provides configurable LEDs(like I've it enabled only for battery charging) + double tap to wake and sleep out of box. It has many more customization options and very stable as its very very close to stock. Have been using it for a while now.

Root, install the mods you want, then use xposed to install root cloak to hide root from airwatch.

Bluetooth Battery Level?

Hey guys, I asked this question in the Android Q&A section, found nothing. Anyone here in the shamu section know? Thanks!
Original thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/bluetooth-battery-level-t3566998?nocache=1
I was having a huge battery drain with Bluetooth. Found in another thread something about instant tethering. Settings/Google... Look for it in there and turn it off

A bit unrelated, but thanks for the tip?
Quite unrelated. My bad, didn't read the linked thread.
I was having issues with the phone's battery and Bluetooth and thought this was related to my issue.
Back to the topic then: my LG headphones tell me it's battery's charge when I turn them on. Never seen it any other way.

I've been using BatON as it seems to be the only app I've found that SEEMS to work. I'll have to see how accurate it is over some time, after some testing. Thanks! I really wish Google would add the feature to Android! It's a basic no brainer really! Thanks!
some vivo smartphone can do that without app. can see battery level speaker headphone etc. it default feature in that phone
in statusbar bluetooth logo with battery remain
