Switching phone's with same sim card - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

I just bought a droid turbo for xmas which uses a nano sim card. I have sgs5 that uses micro sim card. What it the easiest way for me to switch from phone to phone using one sim card. I've watched videos on how to cut down my micro SIM and buy a adapter but I was wondering if there is another way. Please help.

Best way I would do it. Which I have already done. Get a new nano Sim from Verizon. Then use a adaptor to go to the larger size. I go between my turbo and my g2.

Ok, to just clarify. Go into Verizon and tell them I need a nano sim for my s5 and get a adaptor? Do Verizon sell the adaptors or do I need to get one off of Amazon? I'm wanting to keep the phone number associated with my gs5 which right now has the micro sim.

You can just call them, sometimes online chat will send one as well.
You will need to tell them you need it for your turbo. They won't give you a Sim that won't fit the phone you have.
Tell them you bought a turbo or any phone that uses the nano Sim(iphones use them)
Order the adapter off of amazon or somewhere else. When you have both use the adaptor to activate the Sim in your current phone, then switch as needed.

I have this problem to. I have a S4 and cant let my wife to let me have the my new Droid Turbo phone before Christmas day. So what I figure i will do is use a razor blade Christmas day of and cut it to fit. then on the 26th go in and get a new uncut sim for the turbo and then buy a adapter if for whatever reason i would need to go back the the S4.

[Q] T-Mobile prepaid switching from Micro to Nano Sim

I am using a Nexus 5 right now but have ordered a Moto X and want to try it out before I settle on one of the two.
Is there anyway to clone a micro sim to a nano sim and keep the micro sim as is? Am I going to have to cut the micro down to a nano and get an adapter? Recommendations on adapters?
I'm kind of in the same boat. I ordered a nano to micro adapter but very weary of using it. I've heard horror stories about the adapter getting stuck in the phone. I'm on t-mobile simple choice family plan and I'm contemplating on just opening up another line for 10 bucks a month and activating a nano sim. Since I use google voice I can have both phones activated and just re-direct which number the google voice call gets directed to.
I had to switch to a nano sim and use the adapter with my Nexus 5. As long as you don't put the adapter in without a nano sim inserted you should be fine. One of my friends put it back in the nexus after removing the sim to keep safe and it jammed it up

Cutting a VZW Micro SIM to Nano Size

Anyone try cutting down a Verizon micro SIM card down to nano size and then using that in the Nexus 6?
I have a nano SIM coming from Verizon, but I got my phone today and I am impatient!

I am going to try it when I get off work today. I also have a nano sim so I will try the cut first
Cutting it down is easy. I just cut a micro to a nano the other night for the moto x 2nd gen. No issues at all.
I cut my Sprint one with a scissor. It's really simple. It's in my N5 right now with an adapter.

your local Best Buy should have cutters as well. If you are nice they will cut it and not charge you.
has anyone gotten their verizon sims to work on the N6 yet?
Not to activate them but they work if they are already activated.
Nano SIM's are thinner than Micro SIM's just an FYI-
To activate a new SIM call the number for activation and give them your old phone imei. Use a micro to nano adapter and plug it in. Then when it's active pop it in to the n6.

Hmm, hope not as I am leaning towards cutting my micro SIM in my S3 when I get my N6 rather than dealing with VZW to get a micro SIM.

Just call Verizon, tell them you bought an m8 and need a nano SIM. You will need the adapter to put it in your s3 and activate it. Then just switch it over to n6.

I bought the $7 tool off Amazon that includes adapters and everything else. Pulled the SIM from my S4, cut it, and activated in my N6 without any issues. I end up with a $7 paperweight after this.... but it could be useful for anyone that comes into the shop doing something similar or if any of the other techs would upgrade to a new iPhone or something.
There's really no need to cut your SIM card when you can just call and request a nano SIM for free.

Agreed though I also own the $7 paperweight. Odd how you can all VZW to send a nano but God forbid you go to a store and run into (lack of) customer service roadblocks. Typical VZW.k Oh, and VZW duplicated my order: I now see 2 of them coming from Fedex!!!

Ditto. From the time I printed out the template to the time I finished cutting it was maybe 5 minutes, tops. Then I was able to seamlessly transfer my existing T-Mo prepaid $30/mo and current phone number from my N4 to my N6.
I ended up cutting my sim even tho I had a nano. I just figured the less interaction I had with Verizon the better
Cut mine with ATT messed it up now I don't have a phone. I'll be at AT&T asap hope they r open on blackfriday

[Q] Verizon couldn't activate my Nexus 6 bought from Moto - HELP!

Brought my new Nexus 6 from Moto Store to VZW today and the rep said it could not be activated. Said the phone doesn't show up in their system.
So I resorted to cutting down my Note 3's Micro Sim. I have barely any plastic left on the sim now but it doesn't fit in the tray. What am I doing wrong?
Please help.
I'd ask them to activate a Nano SIM for your Note 3, then swap it into the Nexus 6. It shows up in their system as a "Non VZW Device." If they refuse, try calling other stores until you find one that'll do it for you.

Thanks. I did see that link.
But how would Verizon give me a Nano Sim for my Note 3 when it takes Micro Sim?
It's my understanding that they can activate the Nano SIM through their computers without actually having to place it in the phone.
Tell them to give you a nano Sim and an adapter so it will work in your note3.
Tell them you are wanting yo future proof your Sim card. Should be no charge.
Then do the swap as suggested above.
From what I've been told, verizon won't activate a nano sim for a phone that doesn't take a nano sim. I would keep trying stores or ask if they can activate it on an in store device and then swap it to your phone. They did for me.

I called customer service, gave them the part number posted elsewhere in these threads & they sent my nano sim free of charge. Once in hand, I put it into a micro adapter and put it into my vzw galaxy S4, called customer service and they activated the Sim in my s4. Then I transferred the sim to my Nexus 6. Everything works fine once I reset network from global to LTE.

I wanted to share my experience activating a nano sim for a LG G2 on Verizon in anticipation of my Nexus 6 arrival (which I bought from Motorola's website). I went to the Verizon store and requested a nano sim but they refused unless I had a device that took one. I tried various stories and stores trying to get a sim with no success. I called customer service and requested a nano sim the rep said, "sure no problem," and three days later I got a micro sim in the mail. I called back and this rep said the problem was their system automatically issues the sim appropriate to the device on the account. She transferred me to technical support and the guy somehow got a nano sim order for my current device (LG G2). I bought a nano to micro adapter and today the nano sim arrived. I put it in the phone went online and activated it. No problems! I now have a nano sim ready for when my Nexus 6 arrives. I can't believe it worked, I thought I was going to have to cut my micro sim. Any way, good luck to other Verizon customers that don't have a nano sim already. I guess you can ask for tech support and hope they are cool like they were for me.

Went back to the store to try this. He wasn't able to activate a nano sim for my note 3 because system said incompatible device. While he's standing there scratching his head I ask him for a pair of scissors. I look at the nano he was about to give me and I cut my micro to the same size. Throw it in the Nexus and it worked.
All set.
Ummmm yeaaaahh. I had this problem too. Coming from a Note 4, I had a micro sim so I ordered a nano knowing that is what I would need. I got the nano long before my phone arrived. Upon placing the nano in the N6 and trying to activate, VZW told me they don't support the phone and could not activate. Convinced the dude to activate the nano sim anyway but it still would not work on the VZW network. When I tried to place a call I got patched to an operator to make a global call using a credit card. Not ideal Finally I reverted back to the nano sim that I had saved from the driod turbo I bought (returned a week later) and called support level 2 once again. They guy said the sim was deactivated since it had been a couple weeks since it was active on the network. After a couple attempts, he was able to finaggle the turbos nano sim # to once again become active. I slapped that puppy in the N6 and she started working finally. Phew!
I bought a nano to micro sim adapter that I use to go between the N6 and Note 4 that works without issue. If I didn't have the nano from the turbo I am afraid I would still be without a functional N6. The VZW reps in my town are complete idiots and I am sure they wouldn't even try anything to help me out. I guess I got lucky.
The kicker here is why Google advertised this phone to work on VZW with the Verizon logo and everything! I can't believe the VZW support team are oblivious to this device. He said he "heard of the Nexus 6 but know we (they) don't support it". WTF gives!?!?!?

Yes you can do that, as well. My reply to the other post still stands. If you say you need a nano for a device that doesn't need one then you won't get it lol. If you call all you have to do is say you want a nano sim for an M8 and if you go in store all you have to do is ask them to activate it on another device in their store and then swap it to your nexus 6. Can't ask for a nano sim for a micro sim device, is my point. Verizon won't go for that, but there happens to be plenty of workarounds.
I spent an hour and a half at verizon trying to get a nano. Coming from the note 3 they wouldn't give me one regardless because of their system showing only micro compatible. I went to best buy. The lady pulled out a nano sim, activated it on my account no questions. Popped it in my nexus and all worked fine. Also gave me nano to micro adapter free of charge
I bought a Moto X from a VZW store last month so already had nano sim. I popped my nano sim in my new 6 today and got service within 30 seconds. Everything works like a champ.

Just to be clear, was your S4 the phone you were using prior to getting the N6? It was already active on VZW with a micro SIM when you called to activate the nano SIM?

Activation on Verizon
I came from a S3 micro sim. I ordered a nano sim via the phone and had it activated once it arrived. While having it activated, my S3 was turned off and sim removed. I also had an issue with my N6 not being recognized. Once I explained the issue, they activated the sim alone. No issues since. I've been into the store and I've seen one tech guy with an N6.

Thanks. Ordered my nano SIM today and will try the same approach with my S3 once it arrives so I'm ready to go once my N6 gets here.
So I spent an hour and half in Verizon today. The person I had could not get my N6 on Verizon. I pulled out my old Galaxy Nexus and activated that phone. I came home and called customer service and told them I just purchased an M8. They are sending me a nano sim. What exactly do I do when the nano sim arrives?

fastboot oem lock

So I decided to lock the bootloader since I will be traveling, but I thought locking will not wipe the device, is there a bug on NEXUS 6 because I locked it and as soon as I reboot the device it went into erasing the device and started in the welcome screen.
I tried to search the forums and google but all I can find was that the device will not erase anything when you do the fastboot oem lock.

I'm needing some advice. I just bought a nexus 6 and I need help on how I should activating it. I have a micro sim in my current lg g3. I also have a Verizon nano sim and a micro to nano sim adapter. I tried to activate the nano in the galaxy note 2 and HTC onemax both Verizon phones. The vzw rep said that the phones that I was trying to activate the sim on wasn't compatable with the nano sim. I'm afraid if trying to cut the micro sim because in order to cut it to nano size I would have to trim the metal part and that would ruin the sim. What do I need to do. I hope someone can help me.

I've trimmed em before for my friends cricket phone. You get real close to the metal but if it's too tight just trim the other side more. I used really sharp kitchen scissors and it cut like butter. I'm not sure if Verizon will work or not but I know the chip inside is the same.

You can thank the fruit company for starting the small simcards fad. This whale is plenty big enough to fit a regular BFS (Big Fffff'n Sim).
Depending on the contact layout on the existing SIM, it may or may not be possible to trim it down small enough to fit it. I.e., a SIM with 8 contact points cannot be trimmed that far. If it has 6 contact points, it should be possible by trimming it right up to the edge of the pad.

[Q] Google play Nexus 6 on Verizon

Hello this is my first time posting on this forum. I recently purchased the google play edition 32 gb nexus 6. From all the reviews that I have read it should work fine on verizon. However when I went into the store expecting it to be as quick as putting in a new sim card that did not happen, go figure its verizon. I currently have an htc m7 and unfortunately its not the same sim size as the nexus 6. I was told by the sales rep that he could not activate my device because it was not on the approved list. Id really hate to be out 650 bucks with a useless device. I would happily switch carriers however my wife just recently upgraded to the iphone 6 which extended our contract. Any advice would be appreciated thank you very much.
Get a Sim cutter and cut your Sim down, that's what I did. Its easy to do, or use scissors or exacto knife - I've heard some have done that without issues.
