Hangout Notifications - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

Is anyone experiencing any issues not getting notifications in Hangouts? I only get them 10% of the time, no sound or icon in taskbar. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it didn't help.
I am using hangouts for my Google Voice number, so I don't know if that makes a difference.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Fabio

Ya, I noticed this morning it was doing the same thing. It might be a google issue also. Going to so if it clears up by later today.

I have the same.

I have the same on a Samsung Galaxy Alpha. No messages are coming in unless I actually open the app, then everything comes flooding in all of a sudden.
Push notifications are working fine for all of my other apps.

Hopefully this gets fixed soon

It seems to be working fine for me now. Must have been fixed on google's side.

I use hangouts for 8-10 hours per day constantly for work. During that time period I am signed in on my work laptop and for about 4 hours of that time, I am also signed in on my home laptop, and of course my phone is always signed in. The only times I ever miss notifications is when I am in very poor coverage with my phone AND I am actively using hangouts on one of my laptops. I experienced the same behavior on my S3, Incredible 2, and Eris. I have never not received a notification when I was not signed in to 2 or more devices in nearly 5 years of using gtalk/hangouts for 5 or more days per week.

It was a pretty widespread issue last week and was well reported online..so you must have just not noticed that they were coming in delayed.

I really dont care about dualcore becouse this thing runs like a dream. Really looking forward to the upcomming android/sense update.
Since we don't have logs or anything no we don't.
Just like every ROM: probably a faulty app. Factory reset and only use the stock apps for a day or 2. If it still persists you can complain @ HTC with no problems install some apps and repeat. The usual debug process.

It's a feature of their downloadable My Account/My Device app. It will deliver notifications when you reach your plan minutes, when your battery starts running low, and when it's been a long time since you rebooted. There's other stuff, all of which is disable-able Some of this stuff has been on that app for 3 years, back when you really did need to reboot on a weekly basis and not all phones delivered battery alerts.
Yeah I just turned it off on my sensation. That app is only good for telling you how many minutes you have left

This message comes from the My Account app for T-Mobile which I (and probably other people) use to keep track of minute, text, and data usage.
I also installed T-Mobile Visual Voicemail so I wouldn't waste minutes calling my voicemail.
Most carrier apps suck, but I find these two very useful

Everyone always does after a fresh update. From the AOSP changelog, I don't think much work was done in that area.
Bluetooth streaming is working great for me. Was worth the wait!!

Now that I can finally talk about it (lol), the main thing I have found to be different in 4.2.2, is the battery life. I can EASILY make it through a day and have plenty battery remaining. I have had days where my talk time was around 2.5 hours, and my screen time was 2 hrs, and the battery lasted 17 hours. With medium to heavy use, my battery still easily makes it to 15 - 17 hours. A light use day now can easily have the battery last 24 hours. All in all, the update isn't a major change. There are a few things like the battery charging sound and the quick toggles (long press to do it), but overall the most significant thing the update brings is acceptable battery life. Whereas before, battery life was the Nexus 4's weakness, it is now something of a strength. It's also worth noting that the screen sensitivity issue has been addressed too.

Its not a minor patch, 50MB is big for an incremental update, and it is only contain bug fixes.
When i am on GNex 4.1.2 to 4.2 is 80+MB, and its a huge update, i mean it contain some new features and bug fixes.

Any news about the data not working when the device is idle for a long time? Or is it me the only one who has it??
Edited for what I assume may be better clarity:
Anyone else experiencing the notification dropdown being... slower? Like they smoothed out the animation of it opening, but now it feels like it takes too long. I liked it being quick before. It seems to be fine if you flick further (than usual for me), but if you do just a really quick flick, it's slower. I don't know how to explain it. I mean it acts like "normal" if you pull it down about half way with your thumb as fast as you want before releasing, but.. that flick man!
I LIKE TO FLICK! =[
Edit #2: Now that I think about it, the notifications feel like they open the way they did when 4.1 first launched, because I remembered them being slower then, too. I got used to it then, but having it the way its been for so long, its annoying to go back.
Also, maybe I'm just crazy.

Now it looks laggy in a way. I doubt it's because I have a lot of notifications loaded up because they were there before the update, too, and I had no problems.
Edit: It will now pull down as fast as you pull it down if you manually drag from the top to the bottom of the screen (i.e. using your finger about half of the way instead of just a quick flick). However, the act of flicking the notification tray down to open it, is slower.

Early days, but I appear to get notifications on WiFi even when the screen has been off for a while. That said, my phone has been on charge and I can't remember if that affects it. But hopefully thats been fixed, because it was the only thing that annoyed me.

I have that too. It is pretty annoying. Initially i thought it is the operator coverage problem but i tried my sim to an S3 and it is working flawlessly.
I really hope it is fixed in 4.2.2. Wait for it with croessed fingers.

Used to happen to me on the GNEX ALL THE TIME. On the Nexus 4 it only happened to me a few times, however, and that was near when I got it. I don't think I had the problem at all for the duration of 4.1.2. Strange...

Try clearing data and cache and see if it makes a difference. Maybe something is stuck in there. I also do not use any of that floating stuff just the old school notification method.
Ranks high for me as well but really . . in standby I'm getting around 1% or less of drain per hour so I'm not worried about it.
Use textra all the time doesn't even show up in my stats

Looking forward to the update, it should also include the ability to schedule texts which is nice.
Oddly enough in the 2.16 application the "Whats New" option in the upper right corner menu indicates the update is coming today (I noticed it yesterday) but it still hasn't hit the Play Store yet.

Popping and distorted sounds on notifications.

Hi all, I used to have a Nexus 6 when it was first launched. Now I am contemplating buying a Nexus 6 as a 2nd phone and wanted to know if the sound distortions that would appear when sending messages through hangouts and messenger has been resolved with 6.0.1. It would also distort the notification sound upon receiving messages or emails.
If I remember correctly, the sound would also be apparent when locking and unlocking the phone. This used to drive me crazy. Anyways, I just wanted to know if this has been fixed. Thanks.
