Has anyone seen one of these in person? I've only seen them on the Verizon Wireless website. I sent an email to Otterbox and they said it is exclusive to Verizon and they don't have any plans to make a Commuter case, which would be my preference. Does any one have any other detailed pictures of one of these? I'd like to have a better idea of how bulky the case is before I attempt to buy one.
http://www.verizonwireless.com/otterbox-defender-cover-w-kickstand-1.shtml
huh, I thought it was some kind of glitch since it wasn't on the otterbox site. I have the commuter for two other phones and like them, would have preferred that over the defender.
I use the Commuter cases for my BB...they are quite good and very low profile! I also sent them a mail...wish they would hurry up and manufacture some...even Defender cases would be fine...

Manufacture some what? They are already making the Defender case but you can only buy it from Verizon. They have no plans to make a Commuter series case for the Galaxy Tab according to the email I received.
I received my Otterbox for my Galaxy Tab today. It seems very nice, and as normal for Otterbox defenders very bulky. I do not mind the bulk knowing that my device is stronger/safer. My fav part of the case is the removable back piece that can pop up into a kickstand (rubber feet and all) for the tab.
None the less, here are a few pics I took with my phone.

The only place that I found it available is Verizon.com. I don't know how they have it when no one (including otterbox themselves) seems to be able to get it. I tried to find it discounted on the interwebs first with no luck.
Are you able to post the dimensions of the otterbox defender?
Also, can you confirm that the removable back cover also fits over the front to protect the screen when not in use.
They are not available here in new zealand (but then again, neither is the galaxy tab), so I might get a friend to pick one up from optus in australia.

Dimensions: 1.25 X 5.5 X 7.75 Inches (3.18 X 13.97 X 19.69 CM)
The back cover will fit on the front, but where it is not touching any of the tablet except for the 4 corners, it does not feel solid any longer. It has a small wiggle to it. It is nice just to protect the screen, just does not feel the same.
Thanks.
Does it give you access to all the ports? Bottom samsung cable port, micro schc, mic, speakers and the head phone jack?
I'm a mountain biker. When I go for a ride my current solution is to swap the sim card out if my tab into my old rugged nokia. I was considering a defender + a dry bag as an alternate solution. What do you think?

No, not all ports. The sim and the sd card are covered. You would have to remove the case to swap them out. The data cable, mic speakers and headphones are all accessible with the case on.

Yes it does. Try doing a search for "Otterbox Galaxy Tab" in the search at Verizon Wireless. I don't think they allow direct links. It always dumps you to the home page from a link.
its by otterbox, its a compatible defender interactive case which also sells on www.discountcell.com/cellular/pn/Samsung_SAM2-GTAB7-20-E4OTR

they also sell them here but its more expensive $69.95 compared to 49.95 on discountcell

I have the GameKlip for the Note 1 and the Note 2 will NOT fit. The Note 2 is too long for a proper fit. Hopefully he makes one for the Note 2 soon.
All I needed to know. Thanks

Gameklip is now offering 2 models only. One for the SG3 and a universal one that attaches to a case for your phone with a 3M adhesive strip. They have cases for the Note 2 for $2.95, it's a generic TPU type. The wireless model plus case plus shipping to my house came to $21. The case attaches permanently to the klip so you will have to switch out any case you now have each time to use it. I have the Samsung protective case that slips off an on easily so I decided to go ahead and get the universal "case mount" since I would have had to take it off anyway with the old style system because it fit the phone too tightly to use with a case anyway. I will report back on the fit and quality once I receive the package.

I'm disappointed with this version. I was hoping for car holder universal style arms instead of just a sticky thing to the back of a case but oh well is not like we have too many options so I will have to buy either way.

You would have to take off any case anyway because the versions made for specific phones fit too tightly to allow you to place the phone plus case into the klip. You can't expect an option for every phone/case combination. If it fits tight enough to hold the naked phone securely it won't accommodate the phone plus case.

3M adhesive strips are way more reliable than sticky tape. Automomile manufactures use it to attach heavy items to vehicles that are subjected to much greater stress than you will ever
subject your phone to (unless you plan on throwing it when the game gets frustrating). Just clean the attachment point with alcohol before applying and you won't need to worry about it coming off under normal use.

I actually think it will look better than the plastic arms wrapping around the naked phone. This way the case and phone will be appear to be an integral part of the device rather than an apparent add on. Also, when I was thinking of ordering one like the original I worried that those arms, being made of rigid plastic and fitting tightly enough to keep the phone from dropping out, would eventually cause visible wear on the phone's body with repeated insertions. That should be no problem with a soft flexible case. Additionally, on the theory that the phone will eventually be replaced, it will be possible to remove the case and fit one for the Note 3, 4 or 5 to the device with a new adhesive strip. All in all it appears to be a pretty clever one size fits all solution for the multitude of devices in the market. I got notification that mine has shipped so I will soon have a better idea of how well it actually fits and will report back.
You make a lot of valid points let us know how you like it.

If you bought one for your original note that WILL WORK! I shoved my note 2 in it to see and it was way to strainful, so I decided to take a lighter to heat one side up to let it adjust to the longer phone, not it fits in perfect nice and tight and no issues at all!
Notice how the right side is angled a little, I can still shake it around and everything and its very sturdy still

It can't work even on 4.2.2 or 4.3, simply because the Note 2 doesn't have magnets or something that makes it recognize the cover. So no S View on the N2, that's fake.

What are you talking about? It has those holes so when people are calling you can see directly into it. Those cut outs are where the name and accept reject text is. No need to flip it open! It has NOTHING to do with magnets inside it. It's just a hole in the cover to see who's calling.
It doesn't like this when you're getting a call.
Man, the Note 2 can't recognize you're using a cover. S4 can because it has an Hall Sensor (magnet) that makes the phone know it’s closed by magnets and it only lights up that part of the display so you can read notifications without removing it, Note 2 doesn't have that sensor, so it's pretty much useless to buy that kind of cover for a Note 2 in my opinion.
You can either search for that flip case with a a transparent front and cut out holes, or buy a normal flip cover, cut out holes where the answer options & name pop up.

It has holes for the area that lights up when someone calls. It doesn't need a magnet. When someone calls you with or without a case on the front that's where the information is displayed. So while it doesn't have a magnet and make use of the features, it doesn't need them for that case. I've seen a ton of people with that kind of case! It's to have a flip case and not have to flip it open every time you want to see who's calling. But i agree, there is no magnet. But this flip cover doesn't need magnets to be useful.
I got myself one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCURY-GOO...CASE-FOR-GALAXY-NOTE-2-II-N7100-/321157898786
it'll show who's calling and i just hit my home button to answer. As for the screen I used UCCW to make a notification type thing for texts/calls/mail/battery. I always wanted a flip case but I would like to know who was calling without flipping the case everytime.
I have Samsung's official Qi wireless charging cover (http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EP-CN910IBUSTA). This increases the thickness of the phone (even without any cover).
Will the Gear VR work with this cover ? Or, will I need to replace the back cover every time I want to use Note 4 in Gear VR?

I was not seeing my questions answered in detail about the new Gear VR, so I decided to just buy the item myself and give it a test run with my Note 4.
Yes, it works and fits just fine without modding.
No, the charge port still does not work even with the provided adapter.
Yes, you can enjoy cardboard apps with it.
No, your D-pad will not work with Cardboard apps.
They say the field of view is greater. It is obviously less for me, at least for the Note 4.
It is definitely a midnight blue color with black accents. Looks black in a lot of photos.
No you may not mod the cover with a cooling fan because the cover does not fit while the phone is mounted.
In conclusion, I will be returning the product because while the Gear VR experience is super cool, the last model (SM-R322), once modded, is better on all fronts minus working charge port.
Edit: I got the D-pad to work with Google Cardboard by restarting the phone

I'm pretty sure it is, but let me see if I can open the pkg back up and get a few pics
My bad, getting pics now. No, headphone jack is NOT blocked off. Ok, here is the mask that lessens the field of view from the old one. There is the cover that doesn't fit while the phone is mounted, and there is the headphones jack clearance that can now be used.
I wonder if the cover doesn't fit because you have a Note 4. If it's the same for all phones I guess it's just to protect the lens.

Could be but I'm sure I read the same complaint for a different model elsewhere. Perhaps someone else can confirm or deny.
The fit is also quite different. This cover latches into the clips in place of the phone while the older one wraps around the bulk of the front enclosing the headset. This cover does not enclose, it just kinda sits in there.

I have the 2015 version and I only use the cover to protect the lens when I'm not using it. I don't see the purpose of using the cover when your phone is in the Gear VR. Besides it may hold in heat. I don't think many people with the older gear use the cover with the phone in. That's probably why they redesigned it as a protective cover when not in use.

Yeah, I gotcha. Those of us with really awful overheating issues have come to depend on that old cover for our cooling mods. The info about the cover is applicable to those owners. Appreciate the feedback everyone!

In that case it should also work with a N910C running stock firmware. I will post a update to say if it does once I get a Gear VR.
My verizon note4 works perfectly with the 2016 gear vr. It prompted me to install oculus apps.
Ive also streamed a few pc games from my gaming pc and it works well.
But it doesnt charge while in use through the passthrough charging port. Any workarounds for this?? I think I might need to get one of those 10000mah batteries.

Have seen zero workarounds. Good thing is this version is probably better with extended batteries and their fatter backs. Please let us know if you give it a go.
lukasz mentioned on the other Note 4 post that he had to make a headset mod. I guess that all depends on your vision and how recessed back into the headset you have to go. With my vision, I would not have to make that mod because it jutted enough forward to give me headset port clearance. Something to consider

VERY NICE and innovative, thanks for sharing!!!
Ok....I picked up a 323 this morning.....I'll do a report later.
I'm coming from the original Note 4 version which is superbly built
It will be fun to compare the 2?
I spent a good bit of time assessing the 323 with the Note 4 bearing in mind that I came from the 1st innovator edition.
I have to say that it's a big step forward
A few points
It fits in with no modding
I had to re boot the phone to get cardboard to work with the touch pad.... I use the Cardboard for Gear VR app
I think that the usb connector is a bit bit fiddly and sometimes you have to jig it a little to make contact......but I suspect that's the same for all phones on this VR....it might be the usb adapter
The headphone area doesn't need modding depending on what headphones you use.....Samsung phone ones grand....Bose QC 25 grand....Sennheiser 414's no go
The wide field of is fantastic and the lenses seem much sharper.......now this is important!..... When I first tried it there was some serious warping on the sides of the screens...movies etc. The fix is to delete every bit of Oculus and VR software (not cardboard apps) and resintall.....that seemed to improve it dramatically. I don't think I could have lived with the warping
It might be heating up the phone a bit faster but not sure about that without further testing. I find Samsung Internet a heat hog especially when streaming videos etc
The fogging is much better
Oh yes and the usb power socket doesn't work
The build quality can't compare but all in all it's a better vr experience......
I never tried the modded 322 so can't compare but I expect that the wider field of view would make it worth it
Bottom line is I'll be selling my Note 4 Innovator edition......although I think the value will drop now that this 323 has come out
Hope this helps:good:
