[Q] Dubsmash - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I've just bought a new phone and it had to be the Lumia 930. It is damn awesome and I love the windows design!
But: Recently there's a new app called dubsmash for Android and Iphone. Is there a possibility to port it to WindowsPhone or an alternative to get this cool app on my new shiny phone ?

No results on the store for that name.
Unless the app came from somebody on XDA, there's not a lot of point asking here. It's not like we have the source code to port it with...
Have you checked with the app developer?

iphone help

hey guys.... i have an unlocked iphone 2g version 2.2 .....i want to upgrade it to version 3.0...can anybody help me out....
unfortunately this is windows mobile community for devices manufactured by HTC
yeah i know....but is there any site like xda developers for iphone??
try to post it on Off Topic section, about site like XDA for iphone
there are also many XDA members that use iphone as primary or secondary device
Yeah, instead of upgrading to 3.0, upgrade the iPhone to an Android device and ride the wave of the future! iPhone's dead, baby, iPhone's dead.
Thread moved to off-topic
as of now im just plannin to upgrade my iphone with version 3.0...so can somebody please help me out with that....
Go to www.everythingicafe.com , www.hackint0sh.org or even www.modmyi.com
if you want the Official upgrade to 3.0 then you can simply sync your iphone to your itunes with a downloaded 3.0 firmware (search google) and your done
if you want a CUSTOM FIRMWARE of 3.0 then you will need a redsnow 0.8
update your iphone through itunes officially, after that jailbreak it using redsnow 0.8 and your free as playing ripped games and apps
@invisiblewave
hey what do you mean by an Android device and how is it better compared to version 3.0

Samsung Beam I8520

Hi All,
I just got myself a new Samsung Beam - anyone have any idea if it shares any code with the Galaxy S?
How can I open a new forum on XDA for it? It's a terrific phone but I can't find much community for it
--summoner
Where you ge it?
An for how much $?
Are you sure? I was under the impression that it wasn't yet released. Infact I haven't heard any more on it since MWC back in feb.

But they had only one from some singtel user which upgraded.
It's a realy nice phone - but it needs some OS hacking and a little froyo love
Hi Guys,
Attached is the ROM of the Samsung Beam.
It has Android 2.1, with support for flash and an internal Projector

Can someone make Froyo work on the Beam? That would be great!

HD7 and Android - Use this thread for your questions about and stay On Topic!

Would it be possible to have Android on this phone since its basically the same phone as the hd2
I assume you mean as a duel boot? As i see a lot of people asking to put android on it yet they could just buy the htc desire hd an almost identical phone that is designed to work with android. tbh i would love to see some sort of emulator for a couple of the apps but i am so so glad to be rid of android i loved it but it felt like an early 90's computer all basic with no flair.
I think it would be possible but it will be glitchy and a long time off my advise would be if you want android to buy an android device they have a lot to choose from.

its more advanced then the HD2 and has less touch buttons
however its a bit of a silly question IMHO. If you want android get the Desire HD.
Why put a round peg in a square hole ?
I actually think it's a great question.
Why would people want it? because it gives you CHOICE!
It would be great if you could dual boot with Android and WM7 so you get the best of both worlds: taking advantage of Android whilst also using WM7 while it matures. I'd absolutely love to have a device with android and WM7.
Wish I was a developer, I'd work on that project straight away! I'd pay to have a dual-booting HD7 (or desire HD!) !
Bring it on dudes!
Wow please close this thread since there are so many options available for android these days and if anyone needs a android phone they should buy an android phone
I'm not sure I agree with the last poster. T-mobile has no android alternative to the HD7 that I am aware of.

really? for tmous or t-mobile europe? Cause there is the g2 and mytouch4g that just came out android...
To the OP, considering how the hd2 android is booted from the sd card and technically, there is no sd card on the wp7 (once it's inserted it becomes program memory), I don't think this is happening anytime in the future. Gotta agree, that dual booting for computers can be important to some people, but for phones, I just don't see it happening with the newer os's.
I'm a layman with no technical knowledge, just interested, so my comment was more on a visceral level than technical. To clarify, what I meant to say was that '...there is no android alternative ...... I am aware of'...' regarding the large screen format of the HD7. I bought a G2 but returned it because it was bulky, and I decided that I did not need the slide out keyboard. I really liked my first foray into the andriod world during my two weeks using the G2, and was hoping that I would be able to use the HD7 with android as well.
PS. I'm in Florida.

If he wants Android, tell him to go get an Android phone if it's within 14 days, otherwise, it'll be awhile before Android comes to the HD7.

I agree. I don't get it. WinPho7 is amazing. If you want andriod, dont get a brand new phone that just came out with a new windows version. Sure andriod has its perks, but so does Windows. I've had Apple, Andriod and Windows, and I just dont get the point of changing something off the bat. Altho He is probably thinking that the HD7 is like the HD2, with WinPho6.5, which I personally did not like. But it did have its perks too, like multitasking. I don't think many realize how long and how much work it took to bring Andriod to the HD2. I'm not a developer myself, but I can only imagine!
hd7
Okay I find out there is a phone out that's come close to the hd7.. its called HTC desire HD.. its looks just like the hd7 but the only thing defferent is the cam. Which is a 8mp instead of 5mp and its a android phone.. its not windows..
Just get a desire HD if you want an android powered 4.3 inch screen

If you want an android phone.. Why are you buying a hd7??
The answer is maybe. If you want Android, get an Android phone. There is a high likelihood that someone will at least attempt to port Android to the HD7. Whether or not it will be anytime soon, if it will be stable/usable, or if it will actually happen at all remains to be seen. My advice is not to buy a phone on the hopes that Android will be ported to it.

Another bump
I just upgraded to a Lumia 810 today from a mytouch 4g and I have to say I'm liking it better than android. As for the apps they aren't as good as android but they still have alot of good apps and its suppose to start getting alot more of the top apps on android.

Hi y'all

I don't have a heavy technical background but I am a huge open source fan who also likes to thinker with (older) (Android) devices.
Like trying to give them a new lease on life. Also in general an upcycle/recycle fan and an heavy vintage audio & hifi fan (I repair and restore).
I've allready put custom roms on old Samsung tablets. The oldest (and smallest) one is now used to control my raspi dacs with Moode Audio (connected to vintage audio gear/setups off course...). Before that I used like an old eee pc with linux for that purpose...
My first visits and searches on XDA were for an Chinese smartphone (Umi Z1) which served me well and an crappy Chinese tablet (BMXC YS900) but until this day I didn't find any way to root them (nor custom roms) to like revive or repurpose. I should do a new search here...
Very recently I also bought and installed an Chinese android head unit in my car and I would like to tweak it a little to my personal flavour. So again, it led me to XDA . And I allready found some info on codes here...
Greetings from Belgium on a cold saturday night. Winter is almost at the door I think...
Great introduction! Welcome to XDA and continue to enjoy the forums!
Keep warm! Cheers
