Got my mom a Moto G for Christmas and I'm trying to get it to lollipop before I give it to her. I found the 1064 image. But it doesn't seem to want to flash. It gives a software error. Photo linked

"Praise Jah" YOU people.!
Same exact issue as OP... bought Moto G 2014 for mom for X-mas, toying with it today and it thinks it is up to date.. try to sideload like OP and get the exact same error... my guess is update is for version 21.11.17 and the phone came with 21.11.23 preinstalled. Maybe needs a cell network to realize it needs it? (I don't have a SIM in it, it is going to replace mom's current phone & number). OP did you put a SIM in yours? (even though that shouldn't matter...)
XT-1063 from the 149.99 Amazon Sale here too.
I get this when sideloading update:
Package expects build fingerprint of motorola/titan_retuglb/titan_umts:4.4.4/KXB21.85-17/14:user/release-keys or motorola/titan_retuglb/titan_umts:5.0/LXB22.39-6:user/release-keys; this device has motorola/titan_retuglb/titan_umts:4.4.4/KXB21.85-23/21:u Installation aborted.

Yes. It's active and all is well. Minus the ota of course.
I saw a thread on reddit where the update was put on hold due to a memory leak. Not sure how accurate that is but would line up with reports of a second OTA received by some users after the main lollipop update. Hopefully they'll get it out before Xmas.
I'm giving my moms to her on the 19th
Yeah i'm in the same boat. The ota's you can sideload are for firmware 21.11.17 and my phone's firmware is 21.11.23. The only solution I found was to follow this guide. http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...dows-tool-moto-g-2014-xt1064-restore-t2957167. Basically you unlock bootloader, restore to stock 4.4.4. (with the 21.11.17 version), then you sideload the lollipop ota. It's too much of a hassle so I'll just wait.
Anyone in here got the OTA?
Still waiting for it.
Customer support claimed they are only in soak testing at the moment, i am sure 5.0.1 will drop soon like all the other lollipop updates.
But I have a 5.0 update image?
Still waiting for 1068
Just got my Moto G and checking obsessively every few hours for the OTA update to Lollipop. Hurry, Moto, hurry!

Yeah, I did more research and saw some messages from people who had called Motorola to say that it's not coming until late December or January.

[Q] Received OTA but cancelled and no OTA now
Hi, I have the Moto G XT1063. Some minutes ago I received the OTA for Lollipop 22.21.25.en.us version . I started to download it, but I wanted to grab the link using my PC as hotspot and using Wireshark but when I cancelled it I was told to go to System/Check updates to update it again later, and when I tried to update it again I got the message saying "Yout device is up to date". I tried different Wi-FI networks, USB update via Motorola Device Update but no update found.
Did this happened to any of you? Could you resolve it? How?
Thank you!
I got the OTA notification on my XT1064 earlier today at lunch. I am rooted (TWRP, Xposed, debloted) so I know it would fail anyhow, so I cancelled it...I am counting on the fact that we will have CM or slim for the phone soon.
I had the same thing happen to me for the last update when I was on vacation a few weeks ago. I had spotty hotel WiFi so I decided to cancel and try again later. Still haven't had a second chance.
Wow, WEEKS? I've already waited 6 weeks. I thought I would get the update in a day again but it doesn't look like I will.
I guess we will have to wait until the official version comes. I like how Motorola keeps their phones updated but their way of updating them is horrible and they have really dissapointed me. I hate the rollout being in phases and on top of that when I finally received the OTA after more than a month waiting and tried to update it later I cannot get it anymore! They must be joking! Besides, I don't know why they take so long! What's the mystery Motorola?
They keeping everything in secret god knows why or 2 russian engineers.
Even who is invited to soak test shouldnt talk about the update. I think they hate Europeans, because the difference between the two device (the EU version and the US one) is minimal.

Motorola does the same stage rollout update methods as Google, although personally I find Google to be much worse.
They do this to steady the flow of updates (to save their servers some stress), and to catch early bugs that are noticed by the first or second 'pool' of users.
Apple does this right in my opinion. Once an update is pushed, every single supported iOS device can update immediately.
Patience. We just need patience
It's only software...
Found a solution!
The same thing happened with me when we get the first sw update (stock launcher - Google Now launcher) I tried a lot but I was not able to update it. After 2 months I did a factory reset & then tried to do a system update & it worked I again got an option to do software update!

Sorry but I don't find what you've said as a solution. I definately don't believe that waiting 2 months after you received the update is a solution. I think that you got the OTA for a second time.
I will not do any factory reset: doing a factory reset DOES NOT do anything. In fact it changes an unique Google ID that Motorola uses to update their mobiles phones and could actually reduce your chances to receive the OTA. This was explained by a Google engineer- So for anyone reading this DO NOT FACTORY RESET your phone. Let's just wait; we are already in the batch-
You all can force OTA.
Go to settings => Apps => All => Find google service framework.
Clear cache and data of it, stop the service & then reboot the phone. Then again try to check for update.
Do it couple of times if did not work on 1st try.

NO! That's actually the same as doing a factory reset or even worse. It's a myth proved wrong. Just google "google engineer OTA" and you'll see how the rollout is done. I can't post links because I'm new here.

Finally I got it today. It didn't show up as a notification but I checked for updates and Lollipop 5.0.2 was there! Jumped from 4.4.4 to 5.0.2 (412.3 MB). It's very nice. I believe Motorola is rolling it out officially since it showed up in the System updates check.

Wait... So you're saying since I rooted my phone with TWRP I have to then not accept the update and THEN wait even MORE? How can I use it now? i.e. is there anyway of reverting it to where I can use the update.
Someone says that mofo cannot be used under android 5.1, because verizon added patch against mofo in the update package. Is this true?
If this be true, seems that versizon has little willingness to open the bootloader.
when the upgrading of lollipop was delayed on June 10, there was rumor saying that verizon might open the bootloader. Now I will say "wholy ****"
computerfreek274 says he's working to get a rooted image of version 5.1. Bless him!

1: Yes mofo, in its current state will not get you root on LP, and yes, AFAIK, the mofo exploit was patched.
2: Yes verizon has no desire to give you bootloader access.. I cant source that but if you find me something opposing it... I will be grateful.
3: The rumors were false. There was no verizon unlock in any capacity.
4. (this is more my opinion) Compfreak was building customized images that can be flashed via MOFO based on what people wanted.. tethering/xposed. I hope he/she has the ability to find a crack through 5.1 but ultimately it was @maiko1 effort. Root on LP will be a wholly different story.
So no root yet or ever for LP on turbo?

just upgraded yesterday. i have the option to unlock the bootloader in 5.1. when you enable it it throws all kinds of warnings about your system not being protected.
maybe it is really unlocked with this option. is there any way i can test this?
LP is rooted if you did not take the OTA update look for my lollipop forum. As I had told everyone not to update OTA or you will be locked and no mofo. If you Are still on 4.4.4 head on over to forum and flash a nice rooted copy of lollipop.
If you did take the OTA update well you know you are not going to be getting root or unlocked. I do not think you will ever get it. Sorry.

You have to think there is some internal memo with the execs at Verizon...
"You know, Google added this 'Unlock Bootloader' option to the menu's in 5.1 Should we have our engineers remove it?
Remove it?! Are you kidding, you know how many people will take the upgrade thinking they can actually use that feature?! Find that hole in mofo and patch it.
Sir, finding the hole in mofo is taking us a while, its only April and our guys say to patch it will push back 5.1 to July.
Yes. Do it."
Lets be happy none of them got the idea that every time someone tries the unlock button it adds $10 to their bill in "network security."
Your best bet is probably trading your Turbo for someone else's who is still on 4.4.4.
I don't know why people take OTAs if they want root.

All that does is enable the OEM unlock command to be used IF you have the unlock code for your phone. You have no way of getting the unlock code for your phone.
If the Enable OEM unlock is not turned on, even if you have the unlock code for your device, you can't unlock it. You have to enable OEM unlock to unlock your phone but simply enabling it won't unlock it - you need the unlock code.
So that's it then.... Turbo development is dead. KK was rooted, and screw LP? That's unfortunate...

... No, that's not what anyone said. WTF is wrong with you people that if it's not 'done right now' that it's never going to be done. Team Ninja is working on unlocking the Turbo's bootloader, but absolutely no one knows how long it will be even team ninja. It's not like they just sit down and go "Lets apply the 'super secret' root method to this phone." It takes a good amount of work and luck to find a method that works to root the new devices because of how far android has come in security. Saying stuff like "development is dead" it's an insult to the people that are spending time working on it.
I think, root droid turbo is very difficult work. Maybe we never root it successfully. I will sell my droid turbo and by Samsung galaxy S6 in next month if i can't root it.

guys ive done a lil looking into this update sadly i was one to update it to 5.1 shame on me but the whole non-downgrading function mite be a joke ive heard rumors of a guy downgrading from 5.1 to 4.4.4 using root junkys unbricking method now at first youll get a soft brick (as to be expected) but the XT1254 originally comes with 4.4.4 and i dont see why after this soft brick why you couldnt just run the flash thru fastboot again and have it work if anyone wants to try it heres the source of the info last comment on the page if it works then were good also idk if needed but it mite help to unlock the BL thru ADB
ps all i did was google droid turbo 5.1 downgrade to 4.4.4 wont let me post links so message me for screenshots

So it may be late and I may be pessimistic about it but the next step here... search ebay or those swappa sites for a 4.4.4 Turbo., those can still be rooted with MoFo and then upgraded to 5.1. It appears replacements Turbos are being shipped with 5.1 now, and while there was hype at the end of August about a group unlocking the bootloader...it still hasn't come (not to say it won't but......) the fact that a Turbo 2 is coming soon means that at this point, it's a game of just seeing if that bootloader unlock will happen before the drop of the Turbo 2.... Once that happens the game basically starts over, new crews will work on unlocking/rooting that and who's to say that won't take 1-36 months? Who knows if those people working on the Turbo 2 were the ones working on the Turbo 1.. and since they don't tend to announce progress, we'll never really know how close they might have gotten before giving up and moving on to the latest flagship.
The best advice I can give is that on your next phone, whatever manufacturer or carrier or inkling you have to update.. before you do anything.. hell, if possible, before you buy, check out that phone's xda forum and see how development is being done. Taking an upgrade all willy-nilly is the first step in being screwed having root.
well with us having fastboot and the OEM unlockbootloader in dev options we can unlock our BLs thru ADB with Fastboot OEM unlock i know it works i got it to work so i dont see why we cant get root
The turbo does not have BL unlock, if it was so simple as using OEM unlock we wouldn't have a bounty out for unlocking the bootloader. If you managed to unlock the bootloader you may have one of the other quark devices not a Droid Turbo.

DON'T OTA
going to post this once... please spread the word into the other G4 subforums and any related posts anywhere.
I'm not sure if this is cause for alarm... but just putting the warning out there... based on viewing the latest USCC and T-Mobile files... these recent OTAs for USA carriers seem to be implementing "antirollback" which means you can never "go back" to a lesser version. To simplify things... fresh out of the box all of your phones were at "0" and now after the OTA they're at "1". Both the TMO and USCC KDZ file's are based on the OTA which is a "1" so there's no concern of flashing an older KDZ by mistake... at least for now. Not sure what will happen with future updates.
Can only confirm this on the TMO H811 and USCC US991... Still waiting on Sprint users to grab the OTA URL or zip name for me so I can inspect that... but I suspect all of the recent OTAs from AT&T, Sprint and Verizon also used the "1" update. The European/Asian/Etc variants still seem to be using the "0" version.. even after the recent updates. [Not every OTA will bump up the "version"]
I can't say what this means as a whole just yet... Maybe nothing at all. But perhaps for those who wish to stay at that fresh "0" for now... try your best to avoid the OTA update. I know the intl phones can disable updates but this option has been removed in USA variants. There are talks of an app that allows you to disable apks on your phone... I haven't used it myself but perhaps for those who want to maybe block the OTA app (LGDMSClient.apk)... worth checking out. This is said app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/andr...bloat-t2998294
apks to attempt to disable:
/system/priv-app/LGDMSClient/LGDMSClient.apk (not in all phones)
/system/priv-apps/LGUpdateCenter/LGUpdateCenter.apk
Again.. I don't really know what any of this means just yet... just reporting what I do know. Spread the word.
And for those who were forced to OTA.. or saying this post has come too late.. everyone knows to never ever OTA.. and the app to disable OTA has been around for a bit now. I'm sorry but..
Cross fingers and hope I'm wrong
Phones with "v1" status confirmed:
H811 10H
US991 10C
Seems to work
Thanks for the heads-up. Tried this on my H811 and it seemed to work. It is not able to block the apps, but it can disable them. Hopefully that is enough to stop an OTA.
I did get a message from ES File Explorer that the LG World app had been removed and asked me if I wanted to delete it's folder. So that is a good sign.
After reboot the Update Center in app settings has all options, including force stop, grayed out. So that leads me to believe that it is no longer running. Also, all changes stuck per the debloater program after reboot. :good:
Quick question: How do we tell if the phone has taken an OTA update? This generation has been pretty sneaky about running updates without asking thus far. I am currently on build LMY47D, but I am not sure if that is any different than what originally came on the phone.

Those greedy bastards just dont want us to experience happiness. (i.e. root, unlock boot). They want us to just be calm in their regime, so they can 'monitor' what we 'do'. Lg......jeez Its just a damn phone, gimme the unlock bin.
got mine on the 8th, before i walked out of the store it was updating to 10h (didnt know about this till now). i think the sales girl did the update while she had it in her grubby little hands
so if i understand, once you get to 10h you cant go back a version, is that right? didnt this same thing happen with the g2?
It auto updates during the setup process unfortunately. I'm sure she didn't care much about it. I'm a rep and I'm pretty sure nobody that is a rep besides me (out of everyone is talked to) knows much about stuff like this. I'm annoyed that we don't have the unlocked bootloader like the g3. :/

Hey just wondering if I will receive the LVY48C build via OTA. I bought my Nexus 6 from Motorola via Amazon and I was using a Verizon sim card so I received LMY47Z. About two weeks ago I switched over to Project Fi and then received an OTA later for build LYZ28E, I assumed this was the newest build used for Fi but it is not that's LVY48C.
I'm wondering if Ill eventually get the update in the coming weeks or not? I've read some comments online saying that if you didnt buy your nexus directly from the Fi page you wont get LVY48C? Is this true? As far as I know that doesn't sound likely. Id normally just flash the update myself but I'm going 100% stock for the time being and I don't want to wipe my phone. Anyone else where im at? or have received LYZ28E via OTA?

Need a Fi sim card and should get it eventually. Can always root, recovery and update without wiping phone. Just don't flash userdata.img. Can also flash LVY48C flashable in TWRP.

Should have got by now. Not sure why not.
i have LMY48M build number , anyone get it yet or am i better off flashing a stock image
I have a Nexus 6 on AT&T with the same build number as you. I haven't received the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update yet either. I'm new to Nexus, so I'm not sure how long it takes for AT&T accept the update. I would probably wait for about one more week and if it hasn't come to you by then, then yes, I would flash it.

I was notified that the OTA was downloaded and ready to be installed this afternoon about 4:30 PM EDT. I haven't installed it yet, I'm still waiting to see how gaining root access plays out.

same as always. if you havd root, you can not apply an ota, it wint work. if you don't have root, you can take it, then root your n6 just like any other nexus ever. 1 unlock your bootloader, 2. fastboot flash twrp recovery, 3. flash supersu in your new recovery. that never changes on any nexus, since google makes it easy for us to root.
After further reading it looks like the update I have is to LMY48W, not MRA58K.
My dad has AT&T and is still waiting for the 6.0 update on his Nexus 5. He's still on LMY48M and it says his phone is up to date. He won't let me flash the factory image for him either....
I got my Nexus 6 from Amazon but I have AT&T. Do you guys have HD Voice/VOLTE enabled? I did a live chat with them yesterday and said because I don't get my updates from them, I can't use it even though it's in my area. I have the apn nextgenphone showing up, just not getting hd voice.
I am on LMY48M as well. I bought mine unlocked from Google but am running it on Cricket Wireless. Does carrier matter on how long it will take to get pushed out?
I'm on Cricket, got a new Nexus 6, it is still on Build number: LRX22C , 5.0.1
How on earth do I make it OTA update to something newer?

Not sure why they said that...the Nexus 6 isn't listed as one of their HD Voice capable phones. Until they get their act together with that, no one on AT&T will have HD Voice on the Nexus.
I got the MRA5BK update on my Nexus 5 on 10/8 on AT&T but am still waiting for it on my T-Mobile N6 and my N9.
Mine automatically updated to 5.1.1 when I first set it up.
I just made mine update by removing the Cricket (AIO) SIM.
Stopping the google framework, clearing the data.
Performing the CHECKIN.
Then is started to 5.1 and then to 5.1.1
Seems strange why it didn't start by itself.
And then to marshmallow? If so, could you elaborate on the ?
No, sorry, it stopped at a few variations of 5.1.1
Shucks
I to have a Nexus 6 on Cricket running 5.1.1 build number LMY48T. I got mine to update by pulling sim card and leaving WiFi on through the night. Update to 5.1.1 was ready that morning

They're talking about the update to 6.0, not to 5.1.1.

It is kinda connected though, as it looks like it depends which SIM you have inserted to whether an update happens.
The guy I was referring to said his was stuck on 5.0.1.
