Hello everyone, I'm new in this and English is not my first language so excuse me for my bad english. I'm planing to buy the HTC Diamond but I live in PR and I'm stock with cingular for one more year I think, so if I buy the phone what do I have to do to make it work with my cingular SIM card?
thanks
Where are you planning to buy it from?
I'm planning to buy it from ebay. Is there any web site where I can find it for less?
Mine works in PR
I can tell you about my experience with the sprint one. I ordered the day it arrived on US and when it got here the net wasn't working and overall crappy. Sure most of the problems are now fixed but thanks to the community. You can try it normally or you can purchase on of these to make it work.
http://www.opirata.com/sigma-xsim-alpha-p-1718.html
You can always try CTI-Miami, or some other third party reseller. Also, you just need to put the SIM card from your old phone into your diamond for it to work (that's all you need to do).
so I don't have to unlocked it or do anything like that? It will work with my cingular SIM.

well, as long as you buy a unlocked one, then you will be fine. (it should be unlocked anyway, since at&t isn't offering the diamond.)
The unlocked ones are more expensive than the ones that are for sprint, isn’t and easy way to unlocked them by myself?

you can't use the one for Sprint on at&t, they use two totally different technologies, GSM vs. CDMA. so even if you buy the sprint one, you can't use it on at&t.
ok, thankyou everyone for your help!!!!! I guess I will have to save a bit more haha.
I'm selling my X1, and the buyer has requested that it be unlocked beforehand.
Will any of the custom ROMs floating around work as an unlocked generic one (will work on Bell, Telus, Rogers)? I can't seem to get rapideshare to work for the NA generic ROM ("too many users, please register" etc) and she needs it by noon today before I swing by work.
Judging by her asking me to "jailbreak it" before she gets it, she probably won't notice if there's a generic, custom, or branded ROM on it anyways if that's the case.
THANKS!

sounds like you want the sim lock removed
flashing your device (independent from stock or custom rom) doesn't remove a sim lock, you need to read here
and you only "jailbreak" an iphone
Just call up your provider, and tell them you are going abroad and need the phone unlocked. They'll give you the unlock code, and instructions as to how to unlock it.
As for installing non SE ROMs, I wouldn't as that voids the new users warranty, and most cooked ROMs are too buggy for the average person unaware of XDA (and thus unprepared to troubleshoot).

Thank you. I suppose I'll have to paypal me an unlock code for her tomorrow.
Haha and I'm well aware that jailbreaking is iPhone specific. Just noting how unaware the person I'm selling it to.
And Sonus: I work for bell ( they bought out the source/radioshack here in Canada). I called NCS, our in store support centre (who btw is just as useless as 1st tier customer support), under the guise of having a customer with a debranded phone that wouldn't sim unlock. Of course since it was a Rogers imei, they wouldn't touch it.
And Rogers of course want 250 for me to be able to leave the country.
Anyways, hopefully this all pans out.
Thanks for all your help.

If you still want to download the NAM stock ROM and don't have a premium account, use rapid8.com

Rogers really should do it for free if you are a Roger's customer and the phone is a Rogers branded phone. If they won't ask for a customer service manager. If you aren't a Rogers customer, ask one of your friends who is a Rogers subscriber to call as if the phone was theirs.
Rogers support = extra$
shayne122, are you going to try the Rogers route again? I'm on Rogers and told them how I'll be overseas and wanting to use the phone with the local system for the 2 months. They tried to talk me into a Roaming package. Very interested if anyone finds a way with out having to cough up more cash on top of the over charged Canadian Roger rates. Otherwise going to read up on about flashing and other options that won't brick my phone like my Blue angel ended up..

Sadly for Koreans, the version of the Note sold over there, well, frankly sucks. (No offence...) It's a prime example of why NO ONE, should EVER buy a carrier locked/subsidized device, even though it's cheaper up front; your **** get's locked down, features don't work, and not everything is what you'd expect as a customer. Not to mention, bye-bye unlimited data...
Anyway, getting back on topic. The Korean Note, as I understand it, uses a Qualcomm chipset, so possibly try using root methods for another device with a similar chipset? Maybe you could try the rooting method for an AT&T LTE Galaxy S2 (Skyrocket)?
Good luck!
P.S. In the future, boycott carrier subsidized devices. Buy unlocked. Buying subsidized devices just gives carriers more power over consumer choices, and thus more power to regulate what people can/can't buy, and what they can/can't do with their devices.
I am in exactly the same situation and havent had any luck with rooting mine either, any help is appreciated.
yes i wish i had not impulse bought this device and looked into it a bit more and got the n7000 instead
You can try, a method t hav mentioned in How to Root + CWM in my signature
In 16 nov edit section of that post i hav edited new method yesterday call unlockroot.exe, you may try it, i hav read it can root SHV 110, 120S, 120L, but am not sure about your device.
Gave that one a shot sadly no luck

I said "locked/subsidized."
If you bought your device to work with a particular carrier over there, and/or received it at a discounted price as part of an agreement with your carrier, or if it is in any way carrier branded, then it is subsidized, whether locked or not.

Oh I see.
Well I did in fact get a Note that is branded. I really only worried about it being unlocked.
In your opinion, what would be the best way to find out?
The seller at the shop didnt seem to know much about that and language was also an issue

Easiest way to tell is to see if the SIM card from a different carrier works.

any sim from any other network other than the one you got the phone from
Does anyone have any links or info on the Korean sites that possibly show the Korean model being rooted?
Its hard to believe the Korean version isnt able to be rooted yet by someone considering the amount of Notes sold in Korea as well as it being one the top leading computer using countries
Anyone out there with any root info for korean note?????? No root sucks
make it work on 3g simcard
is there anyway to make this model work on 3g network? 4g blows and no unlimited data.
Shouldnt I be able to root the Korean Note, IfF i download the Korean Note driver from the Korean webpage and use the most up to date SuperOneClick version????
Hi... same problem here... I am also looking forward to root my korean galaxy note. And as far as I know... it is NOT possible right now. So ... let`s just have a cup of tea and wait...
yeah guess we will need to wait
For those of us living in Korea, the most reliable way to root the Samsung family of devices is to flash a custom kernel that allows root. The boot-loader is not locked so it is only a matter of finding a trusted source.
That being said, Tegrak has been very reliable since support from the original Galaxy S thru SII and now international version of the note. I've read his site (in Korean) and he has a placeholder for the Korean versions of the note (SHV-E160S, SHV-E160K, SHV-E160L). The page says that he needs someone to send him a copy of the original firmware so that he can modify it with his additions prior to posting it for general download.
I don't have a note currently (although I am now considering one). If anyone would like to get this rolling, please contact him at [email protected]. He speaks fluent Korean & English so communication shouldn't be an issue. I know he supports over a dozen phone models currently. He posts updated kernels every time a supported model receives a firmware update. I don't imagine he owns over a dozen phones so I have to assume [we] help him by submitting source firmware that he mods and publishes.
---EDIT---
Tegrak just posted kernels for all 3 Korean Galaxy Note versions today here.
Find your version, download follow installation instructions. Download and install Tegrak Kernel (free / donate) and root your device. Kernel also has other features that voodoo sound support (Voodoo Control: free / donate) and overclock support (Tegrak Overclock: free / donate).
*** I recommend downloading free version first. Ensure it operates for you, then SUPPORT TEGRAK by BUYING THE DONATE VERSION. Gotta keep our developer pals hooked up on their supply of coke-zero!
Thanks Wapu!!!!!!!! Has anyone successfully tried it??
Thanks thT method worled perfectly. Is voodoo sound supposed to work? I couldnt get that to work.

Hi,
I recently purchased a HTC One over here in the UK and a few weeks later, the phone got blacklisted. As I was massively out of cash I tried to eBay it and listed it with a bad IMEI/ESN. Somebody in the States got back to me and offered a swap with a Verizon HTC One. I'm not too experienced with the phone but I seem to remember hearing that a Verizon HTC One sometimes requires different methods for rooting or installing ROMs to the international versions. Can anybody guide me here whether or not I should be able to use the phone and root it/flash ROMs as I would with my original?
Thanks.

Installing ROMs are identical to the International One. Now, the bootloader unlock for the Verizon One doesn't happen through HTCdev. Rumrunner is required for unlocking the bootloader and S-OFF. Once the bootloader is unlocked, the custom recovery is flashed the same way as the International variant. Rooting is also the same.
However, there are certain issues with bootloader unlocking the Verizon One on Kitkat 4.4.2. Im not too sure about that, the Verizon forum for the One should guide you more in that area.
And, the ROMs for the Verizon will be listed on the Verizon One Android Development, not on the International One forum. There aren't as many ROMs for the Verizon as compared to International unlocked

If you're not on Verizon in the States, do NOT buy it. Pretty sure it won't work outside the US
Hi guys,
I am on the verge of purchasing an HTC one which is on the Sprint Carrier and has a bad ESN.
I was wondering if would be possible to convert this phone into a google play edition and use it on GSM networks outside the USA.
I would appreciate it if someone can help me here.
Thanks and Regards,
Bonnie

I think the only thing that a Bad ESN will prevent is use on Sprint. As far as SIM unlocking, and GPe ROMs, I don't know much about the process.

No you need an actual GSM phone to effectively do this.

Thank you for the prompt reply. But without being unable to convert it to a GPE and use it on GSM network it will be pointless in me getting it. Can you please ask someone you know?

The phone can be used on gsm you just have to SIM unlock. As far as effectiveness of using gsm will depend on the carrier and which frequencies it uses. Converting is impossible because the official GPE is only gsm and has different partitions. You can however use a GPE Rom

I am actually using a bad ESN sprint M7 and I live in the Caribbean on a gsm network(digicel) No issues so far. I have 4g data speed.
My bootloader is unlocked with H-Boot 1.56, I'm S-off, rooted and TWRP recovery. I'm on the 6th rom I've flashed (Tried CM 11 Nightly, CM 10 Snapshot, Stock Deodexed rooted 4.1.2, 4.4.2, MIUI, Viper Rom) and I've been working on this device for about 48 hours non-stop. I am NEED of assistance if ANYONE can offer it,
Is your device also locked to another account on Sprint with the bad ESN? I've got a Sprint HTC one I've performed the Sim Unlock attempting to use my T-Mobile sim, but it will only allow Emergency Calls. No text, no voice and no data. I've gone into the *#*#4636#*#* service menu and changed the settings to WCDMA, but NO dice. Searched for service and nothing appears, just a blank screen! I've even attempted to change RUIM settings in DFSCDMA Tool. I have changed the radio around about 5 different times with NO fix. I have searched high and low on these forums and haven't found anyone that can help me.
